It was raining when I left home, raining when I came home 6 hours later and it didnt stop in between. I had to pick 38 bunches of purple carrots and 120 bunches of carrots. The men arrived to collect them just as I finished. We went to the yard, unloaded the trailer and had our break. After break Andrew pulled up loads of leeks for me to trim. The boss said he wanted 6 boxes, I had trimmed 5 boxes when the men turned up so we all trimmed the 6th box and went back to the yard where we washed some celeriac the men had trimmed and the leeks. I just had time to lay out the carrots on the rack ready to be washed and it was time for me to go home.I was supposed to be working tomorrow but the boss said we werent as busy as he thought we would be so I dont have to go. My Christmas starts here.My next working day is January 4th! When I got home H made me a coffee and we watched a film.

Sunday.
I got up at 6.15 and put on a load of washing before making the tea and porridge. I had my breakfast and when the washing was done I hung it out and yesterdays as well. When I came in H made me a coffee. I emptied the dishwasher, put everything away and got the meat out of the freezer for tonight. I hung all our Christmas cards up and after another coffee we all got ready to go out on our bikes. We had a really nice ride, we started off on the road becsuse the track at our end is rather muddy. Then we got on the track and carried on past Whitwell, over the Reepham road and up to the next road. We were going to carry on but the next section was like a quagmire so we turned round and and came back, (we did 23 and a bit miles). Our son got a puncture, it was rear wheel this time, the last time he and I went along the track he got a puncture in his front wheel. Its only the second time he has been out with a new tyre on the back. He found the culprit, a huge thorn sticking right through. This was at the halfway point and then 3 miles from home he got another one! When we got home the men had a mug of left over stew, I had some cheese. we had a glass of 7year old port and watched a film. I siced my beetroot and put it in vinegar. After my bath I cooked dinner. Son and I had ribeye steaks and H had a pork steak ( he is not keen on beef!). with our steaks we had mushrooms, tomatoes, potato wedges, squash wedges, and cauliflower. We had the other half of our melon for dessert. I have had a nice day, I loved my bike ride. Tomorrow I have to go to work which wont be as nice and the forecast is for rain rain and more rain.

Friday, a week till Christmas. 🎄
I got UP at 5.35 and after I had made a pot of tea I cooked mushrooms and eggs for my breakfast. while it was cooking I packed cheese, tomatoes and water for my break at work. I sat and relaxed till it was time to dress and go. I was sent on leeks first on my own and it aws a nightmare. The boss had lifted them but he had gone in too deep i couldnt lift them out of the ground. I had to cut round each one in the ground and heave them out. While I was pulling some broke off and I fell over backwards. The men came to pick them up and said they had to take down 8 boxes, I had only done 5. So they pulled some up for me and we did another 3 boxes. we went down for break and then washed all the swedes the men had done and the leeks. We went back up the field to get 12 boxes of parsnips and some loose carrots. As soon as we got there I scraped 2 parsnips out of the field and had a dreadful stomach ache! So I walked all the way back to the yard to go to the toilet.I still had a tummy ache and I wonder if I strained it trying to pull the leeks out. I decided I would go home so I found the boss and told him, he said it was fine as we were well up with work! When I got home it was 11.50. H made me a coffee and I sat and read my book for half an hour then I felt better so I swept the kitchen and toilet floors and washed them both. I hung the chocolate tree decs on the Christmas tree and made a pot of tea. we had cod, potato wedges and mushy peas for dinner. Our son arrived home for Christmas and brought a nice bottle of port with him so we all had a drop of that. I have just got to work Monday and Tuesday and then no more till January 4th.

When I got there the boss said we were really busy. I had to bunch carrots. I had done 180 bunches before the men joined me. We ended up with 294 bunches before break. After break I had to go back to carrots and pick another 60 bunches and then trim leeks. I had only done 2 boxes when the men came and took me away to trim celeriac (we had to do 36) then pull up parsnips. We managed to fill 12 boxes before it was my home time. Tuesday.
I got up just after 6 and had porridge for breakfast. H came down at ten past seven. When he had finished his breakfast I dressed and we got ready to go out and fill the car with petrol. When we got in the car we couldnt get out of our drive because it was blocked by an ambulance! I hpoe its not covid moving in closer. After the petrol we went to the butchers and on the way home posted my prescription through the sugery door. When we got home we had a coffee, I had a banana with mine and H had a mince pie. After that H went up for a ride on Zwift and I emptied the dishwasher, did a bit of dusting and then went outside to clear some more frost damaged plants up. H finished his ride and got us coffee and pot noodles for lunch. When I had finished mine I finished a chapter in my book and changed to do an hour on the turbo trainer. I rode on the same course as H put me on with the 'dirt bike' but this time with a road bike. On the dirt bike I did 16.4 miles in the hour. On the road bike I managed to do 20.5 miles in the hour! It was hot work though because the sun was full in the bedroom window. When I finished H poured us a glass of wine and we watched tipping point. We had our baths and then dinner, pizza and a side salad. Tomorrow I am back at work.

We went to the yard and had to wash the beetroot and 12 bunches so the boss could go out on the first delivery. We had our break and I had to walk to the leeks. The men had to do a few other things and then join me. we kust managed to finish the second early bed of leeks, we had 16 boxes. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a mince pie. I went straight up the garden and got the washing in. H had hung it out for me and it was almost dry. I didnt do much this afternoon I felt too tired. We watched tipping point, I had a bath and cooked pasta with a meat sauce, apple and ice cream for afters. Sunday
I got up at 6.20 and put on a load of washing. I had porridge for breakfast again but with a spoonful of my sister in laws jam in it. It was yummy, its made with a fruit my brother grows on his alotment. Its a fruit I have not heard of before and I cant remember what he said it is called. It tastes like blackcurrent and looks almost the same but is a much larger fruit. H went up for a ride as soon as we had had our coffee. It was only 2 degrees here and as I didnt want to gasp that cold air down my sore throat I told him I would ride updtairs as well. I was glad I decided to do that because at 10 oclock it was raining, it wasnt a lot but I wouldnt have gone out in it. H set it up for me when he finished his ride and I started to ride. It was such hard work and when I tried to change gear nothing happened! I struggled on and finished a lap (10.5 miles) I was exhusted! I went down and told H how hard it was and asked him to change gears for me but when he tried he discovered the cable was broken, no wonder I was finding it such hard work.He fixed it all and I did another lap and a bit. We had soup for lunch and then sat and watched a film, we had our baths and I cooked dinner. pork with potatoes, broccoli, cabbage and carrots.Apple and yogurt for dessert. work tomorrow.

Saturday
I didnt get up till gone 7 H had made a pot of tea and eaten his breakfast. I made my porridge and had mine. We had a coffee and H went to the pain cave for a ride. I cleared up the kitcken and did a bit of housework. Next I got our wooden Christmas tree out of the wardrobe, put it together and plugged it in. It worked, next I put our decorations up on the ceiling and I have to say its the first time I have ever felt a bit wobbly and unsafe climbing on to a chair! I told H I will wait till he is in the room next year. I hope its because of my cold and not my age. After that I put my coat on and went to the post office to post a Christmas card to my brother and sister in law in New Zealand. I took the scenic route checking out the village duck pond.
When I got home H had finished his ride so we had a coffee and a little later we had our lunch, cheese and biscuits, patte and chutny. YUM. At 1.30. we got ready to drive to my middle brother and sister in laws to deliver cards and gifts. I came home with more than I went with! Some really yummy jam my sister in law has made. They are both looking well I am pleased to say. When we got home we watched a film , I made a pot of tea and we both had a bath. We trimmed leeks till it was time to go for break, picking the carrots up on the way. After break we all went together and picked 4 boxes of loose carrots, 8 boxes of parsnips, 38 pieces of celeriac and then back to leeks till home time. I hate lifting parsnips, its so hard and now my fingers are so swollen up it hurts to bend them.

Tuesday.
I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing. H had made a pot of tea so I had a cup and then made my porridge. We had a coffee and he went up to ride on the turbo trainer. I thought I would ride in the pain cave this afternoon but in the end I didnt do it. While he was upstairs I popped to the garden centre for an orchid pot because I have got a baby orchid growing halfway up one of my old plants and I am going to try to start a new one. When I got home H had finished his ride so we had a coffee and then I went outside, hung out my washing in the sun and began to clear up the garden. The frost has killed several of my tender plants so I cut some off and some I pulled up. I put them all in the garden rubbish bin. We had the last of yesterdays chicken stew for our lunch, I went back out for more gardening till the sun went in then I went in, taking the washing in with me. I told H I didnt want to ride upstairs because I wanted to decorate the Christmas tree. It took ages but it looks nice. Our grandson came round this afternoon with my birthday present. Part of it was a bottle of wine and H sugested we tried it! VERY NICE. Because we had a big lunch H didnt want me to cook this evening so we just had cheese and biscuits with some of my birthday chutny. Our son got back home safely last night through the fog. Lets hope the weather is better by Christmas. Its work for me tomorrow I hope its a bit warmer than it was on Monday.

Monday
I got up at 5.15,put on s load of washing, made a pot of tea and had eggs and peppers for breakfast. I packed a snack for work and a flask of bovril because its too cold to drink water. I dressed etc and then just sat and watched tele'till it was time for me to go to work. While H was de icing the car I took some chicken breasts out of the freezer so I could make a chicken stew when I get home for dinner tonight. It was horrible at work, so cold. I had to pivk and bunch 18 bunches of beetroot first. The leaves were frozen and covered in a layer of ice which made my hands so cold, I couldnt feel my fingers and it made it so hard to tie the string. Next I had to do 12 bunches of carrots and then trim leeks. They were all frozen into the ground which made it really hard work. The men picked me up when they had finished what they were doing and we went to the yard and washed everything. We had our break and Andrew went off to a gardening job and I had to go with Andy. We had to trim a box of swedes then pick 12 boxes of curly kale and 1 box of black kale. Next I went to carrots and and did 60 bunches, while Andy cut 2 boxes of carrots and dug up a box of parsnips. He picked my carrots up and I walked to the purple cattots and did 6 bunches while he picked just 3 kilo of purple sprouting broccoli. We both went to leeks after that and we needed 6 boxes. we had only trimmed 3 boxes when my alarm went off telling me it was home time. Andy wasnt happy because it meant he would have to go back and do more after his lunch. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a banana. We had our Advent chocolate too. I made the chicken stew and then sat in the lounge still trying to warm up. My fingers feel quite stiff. I had a bath which warmed me and we had dinner, the stew was very tasty. Our son has just left but he will be back for Christmas. I have to work again on Wednesday.

Frosty Sunday
I didnt get up till almost 7 oclock. I put all yesterdays washing into the tumble drier but I didnt turn it on becsuse its right underneath our sons bedroom and I didnt want to disturb him. I had my breakfast then just sat and read my book till he came down then I turned it on, took the meat out of the freezer and we had a cup of coffee. we all sat about chatting and waiting for the temperature to go up a bit so we could go out on our bikes. It hardly rose at all and H said it was too cold for him so just son and I went out. we rode on the track and road, missing out the most muddy places. I enjoyed the ride which was 19 miles but son got a puncture half way round. He pumped it up and it got him a mile and a half but then it was flat again so he took his wheel out and changed the tube. Standing about my feet got cold. As soon as we got home son hosed the bikes down while I made him a salad. I had a stick of celery spread with brie and a cup of coffee. We had a roast dinner this evening, son btought home a Waitrose beef joint home and it was delicous. We had roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts and gravy. They had apple and cream for dessert but I had a chocolate milkshake. I have had a nice weekend but its over too quickly.

This is extra good because some of them had my yearly letter written in them too. H went up to turbo, he rode 40 miles. We had another coffee when he finished and he had a bowl of tomato soup. I got a salad for our son and I had celery with cheese. When he had eaten his salad he got ready to go out with his training rings which he was going to hook up a tree and hang around! Friday
I was awake at 4 oclock this morning with something in my eye, it was so painfull. I dont know what it was but I couldnt get it out. I have an 'eye bath' so when I got up I used it to wash my eye, it didnt help. I put on a load of washing and had porridge for my breakfast. I put yesterdays washing into the tumble drier because it was raining again. We put the bin out and I walked to the letterbox to post a letter and when I got home we had a coffee. H went up to turbo and I tidied the kitchen. I stood all my birthday cards up, looked out of the window and it was snowing! When H finished his ride we had a coffee and a cheese and ham sandwich. This afternoon both our sons came round so they got the chance to chat. NO 2 son went for a run and this afternoon I had a turbo. I did 18 and a bit miles, its hot work. For dinner tonight H and I had quiche and potato wedges. NO1 son went home and no 2 son cooked his own dinner which he had brought with him, venison with stir fry broccoli, sprouts and mushrooms. My birthday 🍰
I got up at 5.20 and put on a load of washing. I had eggs and a mug of tea for breakfast and then opened all my cards and presents.I have some lovely gifts, all my favourite things, flowers, chocolates, gin, wine, books, candles, earrings, chocolate etc. I am so lucky.
Ipacked my lunch, dressed, and got ready to go to work. It was a horrible morning, wet and cold. I had to go with Andy and we had to do 9 boxes of parsnips, its not a nice job you have to scrabble about in the mud and drag them out with your hands, my fingers are quite swollen up this evening. Next we had to get 50 pieces of celeriac and take them to the yard to wash. After break I had to pick 44 bunches of beetroot, 72 bunches of carrots and 36bunches of purple carrots.Andy joined me on carrots and when they were done we just had time to trim 1 box of leeks before hometime. When I left off the boss told me he wouldnt need me tomorrow after all, what a bonus. H made me a cuppa soup and Imhad a mince pie. I had loads of birthday messages and face time with our daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter. I ca nt bear my face being on my Ipad but it was worth it to see them all. We had a glass of wine, watched tipping point, had our baths and I got dinner. We had spaghetti bolognase. I must say I didnt ever think I would still be working when I was 82, but I dont think its done me any harm.

Wednesday (my birthdays eve).
I got up at 5.50,put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had egg and peppers for breakfast. I packed my lunch, dressed, hung out the washing and went to work. I had to go with Andy straight away and we trimmed leeks till coffee break. After break I had to do 24 bunches of beetroot. They take ages because i have to pull all the dead leaves off and then I dont have much leaf and stalk left to tie them into bunches. Next I pulled up 6 boxes of loose carrots and went to leeks again and trimmed them for the rest of the morning. When I left off I drove straight to our daughters and picked up our groceries. She gave me 2 gift bags, one from her and her hubby, and onre from our oldest granddaughter. Then she popped indoors and came back out with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Roses, lillies and greenery. Our youngest granddaughter gave me wine and black magic chocolates. I havent opened anything yet not even my cards, I am waiting till tomorrow. Iwas frozen when I got home and it took me ages to warm up. I had a coffee and a mince pie. I read a bit of my book, we watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. 1st of December!
I got up at 6.50. So a bit of a lay in. I made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge for my breakfast. I sat and read my book till H came down, we had a coffee and I carried on reading till our son got up. H got the bikes out of the garage and I hung yesterdays washing on the line. We all got ready to go for a ride. It was quite chilly but I soon warmed up. We went along the bridal way that goes round the N D R to show our son. We didnt go all the way because it began to rain so we turned back. We rode almost 23 miles. When we got home H hosed the bikes down while I prepared lunch, salad. I read a bit more of my book, made an apple crumble, had a bath and cooked dinner. We had a mixed grill, belly pork, steak, sausages, liver, mushrooms, eggs, potato wedges and fried leeks. It was nice. The apple crumble was ok but I have to make the crumble with cocoanut flour because son has gluten intolerance so the crumble doesnt go crispy and, of course it tastes different. He has to go back this evening but it has been great seeing him again, its ages since his last visit. I have to work again tomorrow.

When I got to work I had to do 30 bunches of beetroot, 26 bunches of purple carrots and then I was supposed to pick loose carrots but when I got there, there was no boxes so I went and trimmed leeks till Andy picked me up instead. When he did he said we had to go to the yard and wash a load of things so the boss could go delivering. When all that was done we had our break. Next we had to pick 7 boxes of carrots. 6 boxes of parsnips and then leeks till it was my hometime. When I got home H made me a coffee and I drank it while finishing a chapter of my book. when that was done I cleaned my hob and wiped the worktops and cupboards down in the kitchen. Friday 13th
I got up at 6.40 and put on a load of washing. I had porridge for breakfast (I had made it too thick! I didnt know wether to eat it with a spoon or a knife and fork!) We had a coffee and I hung out the washing. I emptied the dishwasher, put everything away and then went up and dressed. We popped out to a local shop because H wanted to buy me a birthday card and I wanted a bottle of milk. When we got home we had another coffee and then spent some time outside in the garden. With all the rain and wind we have had lately our arch and wisteria had blown down and all over the path so we had to cut it down. It was all a right mess but we managed to get most of it in our garden bin. When we finished we had soup for lunch and watched a film H had recorded earlier. We had a small glass of wine, watched tipping point, I had a bath and washed my hair before cooking dinner. It was liver casserole with peas and potatoes. H had yogurt for dessert and I had an apple.

Thursday
I got up at 4.15! (I thought it was 5.15 ! ) when I got in the kitchen and looked at the clock I realised my mistake and went back to bed. Next time I got up it was 5.50. I had my breakfast, packed my things for work, dressed and got ready to go. We werent as busy as last week thank goodness. I had to do 20 bunches of beetroot,37 bunches of purple carrots and 126 bunches of orange ones. Andy joined me there, Andrew was out gardening again. We went back to the yard picking 2 boxes of black kale on the way. We had our break and afterwards, while the boss and Andy unloaded the trailer I walked to the carrots to pick 5 boxes of loose ones. A. joined me and when they were done we had to go to leeks and have 5 boxes of them too. They took ages because the boss couldnt lift them with the machine because the ground was too wet. He had tried and had got the tractor stuck so poor old Andy had to pull them all up by hand. I tried to pull one up but they were in too tight for me to get out.By the time we had finished them it was almost 12.45 so I laid carrots and beetroot out for washing till it was my home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and I sat and relaxed because I am feeling pretty tired. Luckily I dont have to work again till Monday so its a nice long weekend. WE did our usual things, telly, baths and dinner. We had fish cakes with jacket potatoes and mushy peas. H rode 44 miles today in the pain cave plus a warm up ride.

Wednesday
I got up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing. I had egg and mushroom for breakfast again with a mug of tea. I packed my banana and cheese and tomato, my bottle of water and some cotton gloves to wear under my rubber ones. I had to pick 30 bunches of beetroot, and then walk to the carrots and bunch them. I had done 108 bunches when the tractor and trailer came to pick me up. I had my break and walked up to the leeks. I trimmed them till 11.50 when Andy came and said we had to be down by 12 oclock to wash and pack everything. So we left the leeks because we had to have some celeriac which we trimmed on the way down. We washed the leeks and celeriac with the machine then I laid out all the carrots and beetroot out on the rack for Andy to wash with the pressure washer. When he had sprayed one side I turned them all over so he could wash the other side. After that I began to pack the leeks but my alarm on my watch went off to tell me it was time to go home.
When I got home H made me a coffee and I ate my banana because I forgot to eat it at work. I sat and read my book, made a pot of tea and got the washing in that H had hung out for me when the fog lifted. We watched tipping point, had our baths and I cooked dinner. Another wet Monday.
I got up at 5.33, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and cooked mushrooms and egg for my breakfast. When H got up he told me its was raining so I put yesterdays washing in the tumble drier. I packed my mid morning break snack and got ready to go to work. When I got there my list was on my chair and all it said was 14 bunches of beetroot then leeks. I did the beetroot first then walked to the leeks. I had trimmed 2 boxes and started on a third when Andy came up on the tractor, helped me finish the box and we had to leave and pick 2 black kale on the way back. When we got to the yard we washed and packed everything so the boss could go delivering. We had our break and then went bsck up the field to work on our second list. When Andy started the tractor it really struggled to start. I had a lift to the carrots where I had to pick 84 bunches of orange ones and 6 bunches of purple ones. Andy joined me towards the end and after that we had to finish the the lifted leeks. We did 6 boxes. It was 12.25 when we got to the edge of the field A slowed down and the tractor stalled! He couldnt get it started again so he had to ring the boss who had to come to us in the big tractor fix a chain to the front of our tractor and tow us to the yard. By the time all this was done it was almoss my home time so i just bagged up the leeks that were already washed and came home. I have got tomorrow off. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a slice of corned beef. We watched tipping point had our baths and dinner. It was yesterdays leftover chicken with potatoes, cauliflower and gravy.

We had to have a coffee next because it was time for H to go to the pain cave for a ride. I said if the fog didnt lift I would ride upstairs this afternoon. Luckily for me, by about 10.40 the fog was lifting so I got ready to go out on my own. I did 18 and a bit miles on the track going over 2 miles an hour faster than yesterday. When I got home I put my bike away and made us both a coffee and H didnt even know I was home. We had a pot noodle for lunch and I swept and washed the kitcken floor before running the vacum cleaner over the rest of downstairs. Next we popped round to our daughters with a card for their 20 th wedding anniversary taking my prescripton to the doctors on the way which save me a trip tomorrow when I finish work. Saturday.
I got up at 7.22 and put on a load of washing. H, who was up, poured me a cup of tea. He had had his breakfast and had already got the bikes out of the garage. As soon as my tea was gone he made me a coffee so I had to drink that as well before I could make and eat my porridge. By the time I had eaten it my washing was done so I hung it out. I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. I started to do a bit of clearing up but H came downstairs all dressed ready to go out on his bike so I dropped everything and went up to get myself ready. We thought we would try the track, we were expecting it to be too wet and muddy in places and detour round the road but it was in really good condition. There were loads of huge trees down since we last rode along there. We had a takeaway coffee at Reepham station, Whitwell station was open as well and both were very busy. We sat outside in the sun and it was lovely. When we got home we had another coffee and a bun. I put the bikes away and put mine in the garage last because if its nice tomorrow I will go again. H is riding upstairs. I got the washing in and I was suprised at how dry it was. There has been no wind but it has been lovely and sunny. We had a glass of wine and I found a pizza in the freezer so we had that for dinner with a side salad.I had a shower and now I am watching S C D.

After break we dug up and trimmed 36 pieces of celeriac, picked a box of black kale and then Andy went to cut cabbages and I walked to the leeks where I trimmed 6 boxes before home time. I drove straight to our daughters to collect our groceries. She is still looking well thank goodness. when I got home I unpacked and put everything away while H made me a cup of coffee. So I carried on but I was getting wet and I couldnt see through my glasses. I sheltered under a Chestnut tree! I carried on to the crab shop and bought myself a crab and the skies opened so I headed fot home. On the way I went on a search for sloes but I couldnt find any! Saturday
I got up at around 6.30, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I had porridge for a change, I had it because I fancied it which must mean winter is on its way. I went outside to hang out the washing and when I had half of it on the line it began to rain so I got it in again. we had a coffee and I got on with a bit of clearing up. At 10. 40 we got ready to go to the doctors for our flu jabs. It was all very well organised and we were in and out in minuites. On the way home I want to the chemist for my prescription. We had another coffee when we got back and for lunch we had soup. This afternoon we watched the race, it was the time trial so I read my book and wrote some emails. Idid put the washing out again before going to the docs but when we were home it began to rain again so I got it in but its not very dry. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. We had carrots, cod and chips. For dessert I thought I would do baked apples and custard, one of hubbys favourites. So I took the cores out first, cut a circle round the top in the skin and filled the centre with a couple of teaspoons of sugar. Next I put the first one in the microwave for 2 minuites and nothing much happened so i put it in for 2 more! The apple exploded all over the microwave. (that one had to be mine). The second one I microwaved for just the 2 mins and then put it in the oven and it turned out well so I will know for next time.

I had to trim 6 boxes of leeks first. It took longer than it has been doing because I am on the second earlies and they are not as big as the last lot. I was only managing to get 35 leeks in a box on the last lot but it took 55 to fill a box on the new bed. The men arrived just as i finished them and it was 9.35 so we all went to turnips and trimmed 4 boxes. We had our break and then I had to go to beetroot and get 32 bunches of purple ones and 34 golden ones. We went down to wash and pack them and then Andy and I took the fleece off 2 blocks of turnips and 1 block of swedes. Its really heavy work and we were both so hot we had to take our coats off. We finished at 12.45 and the boss said i could go home. H was suprised to see me, my coffee wasnt ready. We watched the bike race then tipping point. I had a bath and washed my hair. H had to go to Asda chemist this morning for his prescription, we also needed petrol so I offered to get his pills while he filled the tank. When I got in the shop it was very quiet so after I had his tablets I thought I would nip down to the beer asle and get us 4 bottles of beer. They were in cardboard packs of 4. I thought I would get 2 packs. I picked the first up by its handle and put it in my basket. When I picked up the second by the handle the bottom fell out and all 4 bottles smashed on the floor. I was paddling in larger! When we got home we had a coffee and after clearing up the kitchen I read a chapter of my book and then got ready to ride on the turbo trainer. H set it up for me and then put his set of rollers on the landing so we could ride together. He did 30 minuites and I did 1 hour and 8 minuites. I did 21and a bit miles. I just rode for an hour while I listened to the archers omnibus. I was so pleased with my ride, the last time I was on there I really struggled and found it so hard even to ride slowly. Today it was still hard ( always is ) but I felt so much better and managed to ride 19.1 miles in the hour. I think that last time I must have been a bit under the weather. When I finished I had a shower and we had a pot noodle for lunch with a cup of tea. I got the washing in, one line was dry but the other was still a bit damp. We had a pot noodle for lunch with a coffee, I sat in the conservatory and wrote my emails with a nice glass of wine. The temperature in there were perfect. I had a shower and washed my hair, watched tipping point and cooked dinner. Thursday.
I got up at 5.42 and put on a load of washing. I had my breakfast, packed my snack for work and then sat and watched tele till 7 when I got dressed and ready to go to work. The boss gave me a list when i got there, it said 18 bunches of beetroot, 24 fo golden beetroot, 50 bunches of carrots, 54 fo purple carrots and then leeks. I did everything except the leeks before break. ( the men joined me on carrots before I finished) After our break I went to leeks but had to do 20 bunches of spring onions on the way.I had trimmed 3 boxes of leeks and the men joined me. We had to have 10 boxes. I cant tell you how hard it was at work today! Every step we took we sunk into the mud and struggled to pull our feet out. There was a deep furrow by the leeks where the boss got the tractor stuck when he was lifting them and it had filled with water. I was working away when Andy picked me up and planted me in it! There was no way I would have got out without help! A little while later he was paid back because he got both his feet stuck and fell over. But all that aside it was such hard work and I came home tired out. I sat in the conservatory when I got home and couldnt keep awake For dinner we had cod, baked potatoes and corn on the cob. It poured with rain for 4 of the 5 hours I was working and at times really throwing it down but my new coat the boss gave me actually worked and I stayed dry, happy days. I dont have to go again till Monday so its a nice long weekend, hopefully we will be able to get out on ourbikes.

I got up at 5.30 and had green pepper and eggs for my breakfast with a mug of tea. I packed some cheese and tomatoes for my break at work and a bottle of water. As soon as it was light enough for me to see up the garden path I hung out yesterdays washing. I sat and watched tv till 7 then I went up to dress etc. ready for work. The boss sent me straight to carrots and wanted 12 dozen bunches, he said Andy would join me when he had loaded the trailer with boxes and crates to pack things in. I had done 24 bunches by the time he arrived. We did the rest and took them to the yard,I laid them all out on the racks for Andy to pressure wash. When he had done one side I turned them all over so he could do the other. We packed them all again ready to be delivered. We had our break and then I had to pick 70 bunches of beetroot, its a slow job because the leaves are beginning to turn autumn colours so I have to pull some off. when they were finished and packed up I picked 6 bunches of spring onions and helped Andy on sweet corn till it was my home time. I drove straight to our daughters when I left off to collect our weeks groceries, she is still looking well. When I got home H made me a coffee and we had a bowl of crisps. We watched the tour of Italy bike race then tipping point. I had a bath and cooked dinner, we had cornish pasties with broccoli, leeks, potatoes and a big dollop of brown sauce. I have to work again tomorrow.

Day out.
I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing before having my breakfast. H got up an hour later and made us a coffee. I started a new book and just read one chapter before cleaning the conservatory. I did all the outsides of the windows first then cleaned and tidied the inside. It was raining so i didnt hang the washing out. We decided not to go out on our bikes so we went out in the car instead. First we went to Fakenham and had 2 new tyres put on the front of our car. The rain had stopped and we sat on chairs in the sun for about threequarters of an hour while the tyres were fitted. The main reason we went to Fakenham was because H wanted some peanut butter, codliver oil capsules and zink tablets from Holland and Barratt. After the car was done we parked at Aldiss and had a cottage pie and coffee for lunch. H bought 4 G&T glasses and we walked to Holland and Barratt only to find it has closed down! We walked back to the car and drove to Holt. We went to Bakers and Larners because I am looking for a special gift but they had nothing that caught my eye. I will have to check out Jarrolds and John Lewis. We went to their deli and I bought some black bomber cheese, some ewe's cheese and some crisps. After that we drove to Sheringham because there is a H&B there. H got what he wanted and when we came out of the shop the sky was black so we went back to the car and were about 12 feet away when the skies opened and it poured with rain. I didnt even get to see the sea! When we got home we had a coffee and watched the cycle race and tipping point. We had a shower and then a bottle of beer, a packet of crisps and a date scone. Tomorrow I am back to work.

Monday.
I got up at 5.54 and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, dressed, made the bed and got ready to go to work. I had to pick 10 bunches of beetroot, 90 bunches of carrots and then pick 12 punnets of tomatoes. we had our break and I spent the rest of the morning trimming leeks. Andy joined me and we trimmed all the leeks that had been lifted. I dont know how the boss will lift the next 2 rows our fields are so soggy he cant drive the tractors off the hard tracks, they would sink up to their axels. When we finished the leeks we went to the yard and washed and packed the carrots. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a banana and a date scone. We watched the tour of Italy and tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. Gammon steaks, eggs, peas and chips. It was very tasty. I dont have to work tomorrow and if its not raining we will go out on our bikes but if it is we are going to Holt for lunch. While we are there I will not be buying another puzzle! They did laugh at work when I asked them if any of them had the phone number of jigsaw puzzlers annonomus.

Nightmare day.
I got up at 6.50 and put on a load of washing. I had my usual breakfast after I had made a pot of tea. I dried yesterdays washing in the tumble drier and H got up an hour later. Then everything stopped. Yesterday I bought a jigsaw puzzle. H said he was going into the garage to change the forks in one of his bikes so I thought while he was outside I would do just a few bits of my puzzle, it has 500 pieces. Well that was it for the rest of the day! I have done nothing else. I didnt even dress. H made me stop to get lunch ( pilchards with a slice of bread and butter and lots of vinegar and a coffee ) and I had to get dinner. I have just now had a shower and put a clead nightie on. My puzzle is finished, I shall never buy another one they are like a drug and once I start thats it. I have to work tomorrow so I will get some exersize thank goodness.

Saturday
I got up at 6.50 put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I sat and read my book till H went up to the pain cave to turbo. I dressed etc and went to the garden centre. I had a wander round and bought some tulip bulbs and some Christmas cards. when I got home H had just finished his ride. I wrote out a birthday card and walked to the post office to post it. On the way back I walked to the village pond and its looking beautiful at the moment with all the greenery and ducks, the water is as clear as a bell. After that I walked to the chestnut trees because I knew the wind had brought some down and I wondered if they would be any good this year after our earlyshortage of water. Its a bit early for them to be ready but there will definatly be plenty because they were quite large even though they are still white at the moment. When I got home I got lunch, ham rolls with crisps and a cup of coffee. After lunch I made some date scones and stewed some cooking apples. We watched a cycle race in Italy, today it was the time trial. I cooked dinner, steak and mushroom pie with potatoes and sweetcorn. We had apple and yogurt for pudding.

Friday
As it is my first day off for 4 days H said I could have a good lie in. I thought it was a good idea but I woke up at 4 oclock and after laying there for an hour and 27 minuites I got up. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. When the washing was done I hung it out. H got up over an hour later. We had a coffee and then got ready to go to our butchers. When we got home we changed straight away so we could have a short bike ride before the rain came. We did 21.55 miles, it was really nice to get out in the fresh air.
In the kitchen I have a bag we put recycling stuff in and when its full i put it into the bin. It was full this morning so I took it out. As i was walking round to the bin I noticed 2 sweet wrappers in the bag, I was so angry I told H they have to go in the rubbish not recycling! I got to the bin fuming and promptly tipped all the recycling stuff into my garden rubbish bin! What a fool I had to laugh! I went in and told H who thought it was funny. The garden bin wasnt very full because its been too wet to garden so I couldnt even reach the paper stuff to get it out but H came out and sorted it for me.
When we got home from our ride my washing was dry so I got it in and put the bikes away while H made coffee and cut 2 slices of bread off and i made beetroot and ham sandwiches. The very next minuite it began to rain so it worked out just right for us. This afternoon I read a bit of my book and we watched tipping point. We had our showers and I washed my hair and cooked dinner. we had a liver casserole, it was yummy.

October already!
I got up at 5.47, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, made the bed dressed and read my book till it was time to go to work. It was actually dry for my 5hours there. I had to pick10 bunches of beetroot and then Andy joined me, we did 40 bunches of golden beetroot, 54 bunches of purple carrots and 3 boxes of leeks. We had our coffee break and then I had to do 30 bunches of spring onions and then walk to the glass house and pick the rest of the tomatoes. I only had a few minuites left so I packed 5 sacks of leeks.
An amazing thing happened this morning, we were picking the purple carrots and had been there for a few minuites when all of a sudden from rightbeside us an owl flew up from the ground. It must have been feeding on a vole ro something or it would have taken off as we arrived. Its unusual to see them during the day. It was beautiful and as it flew off it didnt make a sound.
When I got home I had a coffee and a beetroot sandwich, we watched a cycle race and then tipping point. I had a bath and we had dinner. chicken curry. I dont have to work again till Monday.

First I had to pick 80 bunches of beetroot, it took right up to 10 oclock because I had to pull several leaves off each beet. We had our break and afterwards I picked 12 punnets of tomatoes and then 120 bunches of carrots. When I left off I drove to our daughters to pick up our groceries. It was in our granddaughters boot because she was doing the driving in her car. On my route home I saw some huge trees that had come down in last Fridays storm and now it sounds as if there will be another one this Friday. I have to work again tomorrow, its ages since I did 4 days in a row. We watched tipping point, I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had steak with chips, fried onions and peas.

Wet Tuesday.
I got up at 5.45, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I packed a bottle of water and a beetroot sandwich, did a load of washing, made the bed, dressed and read my book till it was time to go to work. It was raining when I laft home and raining when I came home again. It also rained the 5 hours in between. Its a right muddy mess in the field and its beginning to get hard to walk without getting stuck. I had to pick 123 bunches of carrots which took till 9.30. Andy was harvesting broccoli then came to pick me and my cattots up and we went to the yard. We put all his boxes of broccoli in the cold store and my carrots we stacked on a barrow to wash later. we had our break and then I had to walk back up the field and trim leeks. I had to have 10 boxes full. Andy joined me when he had cut cauliflowers. We had the leeks by 12.20 so went back to the yard, packed the cauliflowers into the cold store for delivery tomorrow and I laid out the carrots ready for washing with the pressure washer. We got half way through and the pressure washer broke. It was 12.45 but the boss said I could go home because by the time he has got the new hose on it it would be time for me to go home anyway. When I got home I made us a coffee and we had a pot noodle. H has managed to book us a flu jab its in October. I read a bit more of my book and sent our daughter my shopping list. But because the last person I sent a text to was our eldest son, I sent him my shopping list.! It had taken me ages to write it out too. I watched tipping point, had a bath and cooked dinner. We had cod in bread crumbs, jacket potatoes and baked beans.

Monday
I got up at 5.50 and made a pot of tea. I had eggs and courgette for breakfast and packed my snack for work. It was cheese and tomatoes with a bottle of water and a banana. ( I forgot to eat my banana so had it when I got home ). I sat and watched tv till it was time for me to dress and get ready to go to work. My boss said he had three and a half inches of rain since I was last there on Thursday! He gave me my list which said 10 bunches of beetroot, 72 bunches of carrots , then leeks till Andy came for me. I had a box and a half when he came. We had to go to turnips, trim a box and take everything down to be washed. When that was done we had our break and then went back up the field for 5 boxes of kale,4 boxes of turnips, 5 boxes of leeks and 22 bunches of spring onions. We went back to the yard and washed the turnips and it was time for me to go home. When I arrived H made me a coffee which I had with a scone and my banana. I hung out yesterdays washing and made a pot of tea. I got the washing in after tipping point and before I had my bath and it was dry. For dinner we had quiche with cauliflower and mushrooms roasted in the oven. I have to go to work again tomorrow, with Andrew on holiday we struggle to cope with all the orders so I am having to do extra hours. I may even have to do a 5 day week.
