I got up at 5.42 and had my breakfast. I put on a load of washing, and yesterdays into the tumble drier. I packed my lunch, dressed and then sat and read a bit of my book before going to work. First I had to pick 80 bunches of beetroot, it took right up to 10 oclock because I had to pull several leaves off each beet. We had our break and afterwards I picked 12 punnets of tomatoes and then 120 bunches of carrots. When I left off I drove to our daughters to pick up our groceries. It was in our granddaughters boot because she was doing the driving in her car. On my route home I saw some huge trees that had come down in last Fridays storm and now it sounds as if there will be another one this Friday. I have to work again tomorrow, its ages since I did 4 days in a row. We watched tipping point, I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had steak with chips, fried onions and peas.

I got up at 5.45, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I packed a bottle of water and a beetroot sandwich, did a load of washing, made the bed, dressed and read my book till it was time to go to work. It was raining when I laft home and raining when I came home again. It also rained the 5 hours in between. Its a right muddy mess in the field and its beginning to get hard to walk without getting stuck. I had to pick 123 bunches of carrots which took till 9.30. Andy was harvesting broccoli then came to pick me and my cattots up and we went to the yard. We put all his boxes of broccoli in the cold store and my carrots we stacked on a barrow to wash later. we had our break and then I had to walk back up the field and trim leeks. I had to have 10 boxes full. Andy joined me when he had cut cauliflowers. We had the leeks by 12.20 so went back to the yard, packed the cauliflowers into the cold store for delivery tomorrow and I laid out the carrots ready for washing with the pressure washer. We got half way through and the pressure washer broke. It was 12.45 but the boss said I could go home because by the time he has got the new hose on it it would be time for me to go home anyway. When I got home I made us a coffee and we had a pot noodle. H has managed to book us a flu jab its in October. I read a bit more of my book and sent our daughter my shopping list. But because the last person I sent a text to was our eldest son, I sent him my shopping list.! It had taken me ages to write it out too. I watched tipping point, had a bath and cooked dinner. We had cod in bread crumbs, jacket potatoes and baked beans.

I had a box and a half when he came. We had to go to turnips, trim a box and take everything down to be washed. When that was done we had our break and then went back up the field for 5 boxes of kale,4 boxes of turnips, 5 boxes of leeks and 22 bunches of spring onions. We went back to the yard and washed the turnips and it was time for me to go home. When I arrived H made me a coffee which I had with a scone and my banana. Sunday 27 September 2020

Sunday

I got up just before 6 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. The minuite the washing was done I hung it out to see if I could get it dry before the rain started again. It was out for just over an hour and it began to drizzle so I got it in again. It had had a good blow and smells lovely of fresh air but its not dry. We had a coffee and at 9.40 I got ready to have a ride on zwift. I just rode while the Archers omnibus was on. I felt better than I did yesterday but I still found it hard work. I think I might have a cold coming because I have a bit of a sore throat and I have been sneezing. when I finished we had soup for lunch and a scone with jam and cream. Later we had a small glass of red wine. We watched cycling and when it was over I had a shower and cooked dinner. We had duck with roast onions, garlic and mushrooms. And also potatoes, carrots and cauliflower. Tomorrow I have to go to work.

(its raining again) I cooked my egg and courgette breakfast and when I had done I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. I made the bed, cleaned my teeth and dressed. When the washing was dry I folded it all and put that away as well. I sat and read my book till H finished his ride and i heard him running the shower then I made us a coffee and a cheese and ham roll for lunch. I decided I had better have a ride upstairs because I dont think the weather is going to be nice enough to ride out tomorrow. I went up at around 2.30 and and rode till nearly 4. It was horrible! I found it really hard I had no energy! When I finished I ran myself a bath and had a soak. When I came down tipping point was on. When it was over I cooked dinner. It was a nice ride, we followed the signs to Postwick that is for horses, pedestrions and cyclists. From home to there and back was 30 miles. We didnt hurry because we were looking around etc. So it took us almost 3 hours. When we got home we had a milkshake and cheese and biscuits and later we had a wine. I sat in the garden in the sun for an hour to make the most of the sun because it might not be out tomorrow. we watched tipping point, had a bath and then dinner. Sunday 20 September 2020

Special Sunday

I got up at 6.35 and had my breakfast. H was going to have a turbo ride so I sat and read till he went up then I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away, we had a coffee before he went up so I began to restack the dishwasher again. I cooked some beetroot and some apples for dessert tonight. I listened to the archers and then I got ready to go out on my bike. I didnt really want to go but I hadnt done my 81 miles this week and needed 10 more miles so I went out on my own. It was amazing! I have never seen so much wildlife on one short ride. First I saw a buzzard, then 2 squirells that wouldnt get off the track and just kept running in front of me. After that I saw 3 more buzzards and a kestrel. It was a beautiful bird, its underside was a very light colour and looked golden in the sun. I cut across a field (public footpath) and saw a rabbit, we havent seen many rabbits lately. Then finally I was coming back on the track up muddy cutting hill and 5 huge deer jumped across the track one after the other right in front of me. when I got home I got H to cut the front grass and I stayed out front and did a bit of clearing up. when I came in I made a pot of tea and had a bath. H and out youngest granddaughter on the tandem, our daughter, son in law, grandson and me. We went to Reepham station where we all had a drink of some discription and cycled back again. It was so good, the day was perfect, a bit windy but its sheltered on the track. It was the first time for the 2 on the tandem and they loved it, it all went so well and grandad only fell off once. For lunch we had another ham cheese and salad sandwich and a coffee. After lunch I sat in the garden for a while topping up my vitimin D. I put the chicken in the oven and had a shower. I started another book and we watched the bike tour, it was the time trial. For dinner we had roast chicken, roast and mashed potatoes, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower and gravy. Friday 18 September 2020

Friday

I got up at 6.12 and put on a load of washing. I had my breakfast and then I dressed so we could just pop out for petrol. As we dont go anywhere apart from me going to work we havent filled the car for ages. When we came home the washing was done so I hung it out. We had a coffee and I sat and read my book for a while. We got ready to go out on our bikes but as we are going out tomorrow (H on the tandem with our youngest granddaughter) we decided not to go far. We started off on Marriotts Way and got as far as the bridge over the N D R and saw a sign for a cycle path and bridle way to Postwick. So we thought we would give it a try. It was nice, the bit we did but when we had done around 10 miles we turned round and came back because H didnt want to be too tired for tomorrow. We will do the whole thing one day next week weather permitting. We dont know how far it will be. When we got home we had a coffee and a cheese, ham and salad roll. I got the washing in, did the weeks ironing and then joined H in the garden in the sun for an hour. I picked our beans and tomatoes, washed my hairand had a shower. For dinner we had pork chops with potatoes, cabbage, and carrots. I am playing scrabble on my phone with H and he wins every game! Its so unfair! In the last game he got every s and the blanks! He also got the z x and Q most of my letters only had one point.

Thursday 17 September 2020

Thursday

I was woken up by H for the second day in a row! Thank goodness he didnt oversleep as well. I had my breakfast after I had a put on a load of washing and then I packed my lunch. I dressed, hung the washing out and went to work. My list was waiting for me on my chair. We were so busy, my list said 240 bunches of carrots, 44 purple carrots, 44 golden beetroot, 90beetroot and tomatoes with any time I had left! I nearly told the boss he was having a laugh but darent. He told me Andy would be joining me so I thought we might get it done.I did the 240 carrots and moved to the purple ones before Andy joined me. when he arrived he had another list with additions! We had to do another 24 bunches of carrots, an extra 5 bunches of purple ones, 6 more golden and another 16 bunches of purple beetroot. Wednesday 16 September 2020

Wednesday work.

I got up at 6 oclock and put on a load of washing. I had eggs for breakfast with a mug of tea. I packed cheese and tomatoes for my break at work. When H got up he said it was raining. It wasnt anything much but I didnt hang the washing out bacause it was too dark for me to see what the weather was going to do. I dressed etc and went to work. The boss gave me a list when I got in. I had to trim leeks till Andy came to pick them up and then I had to do 36 bunches of carrots. By the time he arrived I had trimmed 8 boxes. He said we would do the carrots together because the boss was going to water some to make the digging easy for me for tomorrow when he will need lots more. We took them to the yard and had to unload everything onto the barrow and put it in the garage. We then had our break. Next I did 32 bunches of beetroot. I should have only done 30 but I had cut too much string and hadnt packed them up so didnt know when to stop! After that I had to go to the greenhouse and pick tomatoes. They are slow to pick because they are all out of mu reach and I have to keep getting on and off a box. So I have a crate with a tray of punnets on top and also a box to climb on. I have to keep moving along the rows by moving the crate getting up on my box and picking all I can reach then I get down move the crate along, pick my box up, move that and climb back up again and so it goes on. I will have to finish them off tomorrow. When I got home I quickly changed because our daughter was coming round with our groceries. When she arrived she had time for a cuppa so we got the chance to chat. When she left I had a bath, made a pot of tea and cooked dinner. We had quiche with potato wedges broccoli and cauliflower. We had strawberries and cream for dessert. Ihave to work again tomorrow.

We were planning to have a long ride today but H didnt have a very good night because it was too warm so he didnt fancy doing it. We had a coffee and I had a banana. Ihad done a load of washing so I hung it out when it was done and then i vacumed all downstairs. H got the bikes out and oiled the chains etc. We did our usual ride, road and track, with a nice coffee along the way. It was really warm and hardly any wind. When we got home we were going to sit in the garden but as we were out riding almost two and threequarter hours and sitting in the sun with our coffee, we decided we had enough for one day. We had a nice cold milk shake and a cheese sandwich for lunch. We watched the tour de france, the end of tipping point and then had a nice cool shower. I had forgotten to get anything out of the freezer for dinner tonight so we had pork and apple burgers ( fast to thaw) with chips and a huge pan of fried tomatoes which I picked from the garden. Tomorrow I have to work again. They said on the tv this evening that its been the hottest September for over 4 years.

I got up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing. I had egg and pepper for breakfast, the red pepper I picked from the garden. I packed cheese and tomatoes for my break at work, hung the washing out, dressed and got ready to go to work. I had a list waiting for me, it said 15 bunches of beetroot, 84 bunches of carrots, 8 bunches of purple carrots and then leeks. I had to trim all the leeks that had been lifted. Just before I finished Andy came up with another list which we had to do together. So after we finished the leeks we had to have another 24 bunches of carrots, 2 more bunches of purple ones, 8 romanesque, 5kg curly kale, 2kg black kale and a box of broccoli. We put our chairs out in the back garden ready for when we get back from our ride because it was supposed to be sunny. we did 22and a bit miles on our bikes, all off road, it was nice. It was sunny when we got back so we both changed straight away so we could soak up some vitimin D. I sat out for an hour but H stayed out longer. I hung out the washing and we had a coffee. H went up to ride on the turbo and I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. Next i made some chocolate and choc chip buns. I spent a bit of time weeding till H knocked on the window to let me know he had finished his ride so I went in and made us an instant coffee. For lunch we had a ham and cheese roll with salad. The sun came out so we sat in the garden for about an hour but it was breezy and the wind was quite chilly. When we got in we had a glass of wine and watched the cycle race. When it was over I had a shower and cooked dinner. I made a pasta bake which was nice it contained chicken, peas, sweetcorn, chorizo, onion, and a cheesy white sauce.

Friday 11 September 2020

Thursday.

I managed to lie in till 6.20 this morning, so a rare treat. I put on a load of washing and had toast and marmalade for breakfast with a mug of tea. I watched tv till the washing was done then I hung it out. H got our mountain bikes out of the garage ready for us to go out for a ride. I got on with some housework and H made us a coffee. Last month I ordered some padded knickers that I saw advertised on facebook and yesterday they arrived. THE padding is the same as is in my cycling shorts and tights. So today I thought I would try them out. They worked really well, its nice to be able to wear ordenary trousers on my bike and be comfortable. If I find the advert again I will but some more, they are so much cheaper than cycle tights. We had a nice ride, the same one we did on Tuesday but so much faster. we knocked almost 20 minuits off the time and our average was 1.5 miles faster. We stopped for a coffee at Reepham station again and it was very busy again too. We had another coffee when we got home with some cheese and biscuits. We had a glass of wine and watched the cycle race. I made a pot of tea, we watched tipping point, i had a bath, washed my hair and cooked dinner. We had fish cakes, baked potatoes and baked beans. H had yogurt for pud and i had an apple and a banana.

We had a really nice ride, it was one we did last week or the week before. We went to Aylsham on the road and then all the way home along the track. We stopped for a coffee at the railway station which was nice and were home in time for lunch. It was 31miles. We put the bikes away and H cut the front lawn which looks better,I need to trim round the edges now. All my washing is dry again so I did all the oroning up to date. I watered my pots and the tomatoes, we watched the tour de france, then tipping point. we like to watch tipping point because we like to answer the questions but it really winds me up when some idiots keep putting the counters in too late so they ride. If it happened the first time surely you wouldnt put it in at the sametime again. One of the team of 4 was putting his in at the perfect time and all the rest were rubbish. They didnt have the sense to watch him and copy however loud i shouted at the t v! when it was over I had a shower and cooked dinner. It was cod in breadcrumbs with roast cherry tomatoes and chips. She said they would pop round and see us this afternoon. we got ready and went out on our bikes. We had a nice ride 31 miles, it was quite windy! When we got home I put the bikes away and we had lunch, cheese, biscuits and a bottle of beer. we were still drinkind our beer when our daughter and son in law arrived. we didnt have any more beer so they had wine. They both had some lovely photos of their holiday. When they left we watched the tour and then tipping point. We had our baths and i cooked dinner. We had liver and onions in gravy with potatoes. I asked H if we were going out on our bikes tomorrow and he said he didnt think he was so I might be going on my own.

Friday

I got up at 5.25 and put on a load of washing before having my breakfast. I packed my lunch, made my bed, dressed and hung out the washing and yesterdays before getting ready to go to work. I had to go straight to the greenhouse when i got there to pick the tomatoes. I PICKED 30 punnets and 2 large trays. It took till almost 11 oclock. Next I went to trim leeks with Andy, the first of the season. We trimmed 6 boxes and then trimmed a box of swedes, also the first of the season. we picked 20 bunches spring onions and went to the yard to wash everything. When it was all washed Andy went for his break while i packed and weighed it all. When i had finished it was my home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a hot cross bun. I got the washing in all nice and dry and watered the tomatoes. we watched the tour de france and most of tipping point, I had my bath and washed my hair before cooking dinner. We had cheese and onion quiche with grilled mushrooms and tomatoes. last evening our eldest son rang to say he had spent several hours at the hospital. He happened to close one of his eyes for some reason and noticed everything he could see with his other eye was black and white. He could see no colour at all. At the hospital they examined it and he has a bubble under the retina. It might right itself so they are leaving it at the moment but they have given him another appointment and if its not better by then they will operate. They said they will either lance it or do it with a lazer.

Wet Thursday

I got up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing. I had bell pepper, courgette and egg for breakfast and packed my lunch snack. It was raining so I didnt hang the washing out. When I got to work I had to walk to the carrots and pick 216bunches. First I had to cut 216 pieces of string! I was lucky because after all the rain I didnt have to dig them all up, i could manage to pull them up.I had just finished them when Andy arrived with another list. First we had to pick 66 bunches of purple carrots, then 34 bunches of golden beetroot. After that it was 78 beetroot and when we finished Andy looked at his watch and it was time for me to go home. H made me a coffee as soon as I got inand we sat all afternoon doing nothing just watching the cycling. We saw tipping point because the race finished earlier today. I had a bath and when I came down I cooked dinner. we had fish cakes with potato wedges, broccoli and corn on the cob. It was nice. It rained for most of the morning and we all had to wear our rain gear, we were all so hot.I have to work again tomorrow which I wasnt expecting.
