Sunday. Last day of 2023.

 I had toast for breakfast and at 10 I went up to turbo.  I listened to the Archers while I was doing it. I did 23.6 miles in 1 hour and 22 minutes. It was hard and I was very hot 🥵.when I finished we had a coffee. For lunch we had cheese and biscuits and a mince pie with cream. I haven’t done much this afternoon because my knee is very painful. For dinner tonight we had pork slices peas and chips. Happy New Year.. 

Friday

 We didn’t go to Asda today and the bin men didn’t come so we haven’t known what day it is. I got up at 6 and had toast for breakfast. Then I made a loaf of bread . I vacuumed all downstairs and made some celeriac soup for lunch, H had 2 bowls full it was so nice. After lunch I went for a walk I did 1.17 miles. It was lovely , the sun was out and so were the dog walkers. H had a ride upstairs this morning.

Thursday

 I got up at 6.30 and had my eggs for breakfast. I had a good sleep which I was not expecting as I had done nothing all day. When H came down I told him I wanted to go to Lidl because we were running out of milk. On the way home I went to the chemist to pick up my prescription. For lunch we had turkey and stuffing sandwiches 🥪. Now we have been to Lidl today we won’t have to go to Asda tomorrow so I can have a lay in. 

Wednesday

 Yesterday Son and I went for a bike ride. We did over 20 miles mostly off road. It was a nice ride, we went to the Co-Op in Reepham where we had a coffee and a cake before cycling home again. We saw 13 deer 🦌. Today Son went climbing and after dinner tonight he packed his stuff and left , it’s a rough night so I hope he gets back safely. 

Monday

 I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.. 

I got up at 6.15 and put the turkey in the oven. I don’t know why because it says on the bag that it takes 3 hours and 33 minutes to cook. I used to put my turkey in overnight but that’s when I used to stuff it . Now I put the stuffing in separately it doesn’t take so long to cook the bird. But I used to come down on Christmas morning and the kitchen would be lovely and warm and smell like Christmas. Now I am sitting here writing this and waiting for the others to get up . The Bucks Fizz is in the fridge and the glasses are all washed up and ready. If they aren’t up soon I will start without them. I think I will go and peel the sprouts. 

Saturday

 We went for a bike ride this morning. The wind was really strong. We saw several new trees blown down. But the track was nice and dry.we went to Reepham and had a coffee at the Bread Sauce in the Dile House. I also had a cookie 🍪 it was delicious. For dinner tonight we had rib eye steaks with broccoli 🥦, carrots 🥕, sweet potato 🍠, potatoes 🥔 and sprouts. Tomorrow we are going to our daughters to deliver Christmas presents. 

Saturday

 We decided to go out on our bikes today and we went to Reepham, we had coffee at the new bread sauce ‘ . They make a lovely cup of coffee. I also went to the butchers. We did 19.17 miles . We did it nearly all off road and some of it was really hard. Over fields and up through the woods, under fallen 🌳.  When we got home I made H and myself a bacon butty, son had his usual salad. For dinner tonight we had rib eye steaks , mushrooms, potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli and carrots. We washed it down with a glass of wine ( Chateanneuf -du- Pape ). 

Wednesday

 I wrapped a few presents this morning and this afternoon I went to my brother and sister in law’s. We always meet at Christmas to exchange gifts. Son took me round and we had a pleasant afternoon. For dinner tonight we had chicken cooked in the air fryer with potatoes, carrots, sprouts, broccoli, and sweet potato and gravy. It was nice the chicken was perfectly cooked with a crispy skin. 

Monday

 We decided to go out on our bikes today and we went to play post man. We biked round to H’s sisters and posted her Christmas cards. Then we biked to the graveyard where one of H’s brothers are buried and visited his grave. Our ride took ages H wasn’t feeling it ,he wanted to turbo but he came with us instead. When we got home our son hosed our bikes down and when they were dry he put them away. For dinner tonight we had liver and sausages with peas broccoli sweet potato and cauliflower. We had a slice of Christmas cake for dessert. 

Sunday

 I had a super sleep for once. After my breakfast I got ready to turbo. H put me on a new route which was quite nice. I did 15.2 miles in the hour but I carried on for another quarter of an hour because I was listening to the Archers and it wasn’t over.  The trouble is it was all uphill and I was only doing 4 or 5 miles an hour which took my average right down. In an hour and a quarter I rode 18.17 miles. It’s my first ride at 85 so I can’t complain. For dinner tonight we had duck with roast potatoes, sweet potatoes and parsnips. And steamed broccoli cauliflower and 🥕 carrots .

Saturday

 I got up at 6 o’clock but I didn’t have any breakfast because I was going to have breakfast with Father Christmas. I was going with my daughter, her husband, her daughter ,and her 2 children. I didn’t have to pay, they treated me. Our great grand children loved it Santa 🎅 came and spoke to our great grand granddaughter and asked her how old she was 4 she told him and that her brother was 2. He asked her who we were and she told him. He can’t have many great grand mother’s because he sent his elf off to get another present and gave me one. Breakfast was delicious I had 2 sausages 3 rashes of bacon scrambled egg hash browns mushrooms tomatoes and buttered toast. 2 cups of tea and a glass of orange juice. It was really nice. I was picked up from home and taken home again. I didn’t have any more to eat until dinner tonight when I had a rib eye steak with cauliflower carrots and potatoes. 

Thursday

 I made a loaf of bread after breakfast and then I iced the Christmas cake. This afternoon I wrote about half of my Christmas cards. For dinner tonight we had a chicken stir fry. H spent the morning clearing up the pain cave. It looks amazing. 

Wednesday

 Today I decorated the Christmas 🎄 tree. Tomorrow I will put the icing on the cake. His afternoon I walked down to the post office to get some Christmas stamps I wanted  2 books of second class. The woman behind the counter said they had sold out of second class but had plenty of first class. But that would mean the stamps cost more than the cards, so I bought ordinary ones instead. For dinner tonight we had rice and beef in a black bean sauce. 

Monday

 Today we went to the sea side. We were going to Clay to sit in the bird thing with a coffee and watch all the geese flying in! But when we got there it was closed for the day. So we went round the coast to the Swallows pub were we had a coffee and ham, egg and chips. My ham was really salty so I had to have shandy as well . After that we walked along the path down to the beach and threw a few stones in the sea. It was bitterly cold but we were all wrapped up warm. We were lucky enough to see 2 marsh harriers flying over the marshes. Anyway we all had a lovely day. When we got home I got straight on with dinner because our son had to leave after dinner we had salmon with a baked potato and mixed vegetables. For dessert I made an apple and blackberry crumble. We had it with cream.

Sunday 3rd December

 Today is my birthday so I am now 85 the same as my husband. I have had a nice birthday weekend seeing all my family except for my grandson who is in Denmark 🇩🇰. But he sent me flowers and a text message. I went for a birthday walk this morning in the rain. For dinner tonight we had a roast it was pork and roast potatoes ,sweet potato, parsnip. And broccoli and carrots.we had birthday cake for dessert. The crackling on the pork was lovely.
