Friday 31 August 2018

Friday.

I managed to stay in bed till 5.50, I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast, toast. As soon as we had finished we got ready and went to Asda for our weekly shop. When we got home I unpacked and put everything then I hung out the washing. We had a coffee and a cream merangue, I read my magazine and H got our bikes out of the garage. We then went out for a short ride. (16.6 miles) we picked a whole load of plums. We couldn’t believe how quickly they had ripened. We checked them on Monday and they were as hard as iron and really sour , we tried them again this morning and they were ripe! When we got home I made us a coffee and we had cheese and biscuits for lunch. H put our sun beds out and we sat in the garden all afternoon. We had a glass of wine and then I had a shower and washed my hair. For dinner we had paella and rosemary potatoes, for pudding we had a chocolate tart,  delish. It was a lovely warm, sunny day and my legs are a bit pink, I didn’t realise how quickly I was losing my tan, it’s nice to top it up while we can.

Thursday 30 August 2018

Thursday.

I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing and had egg and courgette for breakfast with a mug of tea. I packed a tomato and some cheese with a bottle of water. I hung out the washing and also yesterday’s and then I got ready to go to work. When I arrived the boss gave me a list as long as your arm and I was at the top of the field before it was even 8 o’clock. I had to pick 93 bunches of radishes, 64 bunches of beetroot, 22 bunches of golden beetroot, 30 bunches of purple carrots, a box of loose carrots and 120 bunches of orange carrots. It all took till 12.45 so by the time I got back to the yard it was time to go home. I don’t have to go again till Monday. On the way home I called at the chicken farm for eggs. I intend to make the third tier of the wedding cake this weekend so I needed eggs. When I got home H made me a coffee and we had a cheese sandwich with radishes. I got all my washing in, nice and dry and ironed it right away. We watched La Vuelta and I made a pot of tea. H ran me a bath and then I cooked dinner. We had chicken pie with new potatoes and corn on the cob. I was supposed to weigh myself today but I forgot, mainly because I didn’t realise it was Thursday.

Wednesday 29 August 2018

Wednesday.

I got up around 7 am when I heard H moving around. I put on a load of washing and had an egg and 5 slices of courgette for my breakfast with a cup of tea. H made me a coffee and I read a chapter of my book before getting on with a bit of housework. I did all my ironing up to date and then we got ready for when my brother and his wife to come round. When they arrived we all piled into our car and went to Framlingham castle. They have never been before and we had only been once before. It’s an amazing place, built in the 11 hundreds, and with so much of it still standing. We had coffee and cake in the cafe and a great walk round the battlements. When we got back home we had a cup of tea before John and Judy left to go back to their digs for a wash and brush up before our middle brother and his wife plus H and I all met them at the Sprowston Blue Boar where John treated us all to dinner. It was very nice indeed and we all had a lovely meal . It was lovely us all being together and I had a lovely evening. In the morning J and J are driving to Bridgnorth to stay a few days with our youngest brother before flying back to N Z. I don’t know if I will ever get to see them again which is very sad. I am glad I still have one brother living locally and he and his wife and I are always in touch with each other. Tomorrow I have to work again. Oh! For my dinner I had rump steak with mushrooms, tomato, chips, lettuce and onion rings, a glass of wine and for pud berry pavlova, really yummy.

Tuesday 28 August 2018

Tuesday.

I got up at 5.40 and put on a load of washing. I had my breakfast and packed my lunch, made my bed and got ready to go to work. I hung out the washing before I left. I had to do 25 bunches of radishes, 20 bunches of beetroot, 20 bunches of golden beetroot, 24 bunches of purple carrots and 84 bunches of normal ones. It all took till 11am so I had to spend 2 hours weeding spring onions. When I got home I had a cup of coffee and a slice of corned beef followed by a banana. I got the washing in again, all nice and dry and made a pot of tea. We watched the cycle race and then had dinner. Pork and apple burgers, eggs and fried tomatoes from our garden. I am not working tomorrow because we are going out with my New Zealand brother and his wife. It might be the last time we see them so it will be quite sad but we will have a happy day and in the evening they are taking us and my other brother and his wife out to dinner. Tomorrow they drive to Bridgnorth to visit our youngest brother before flying back to N Z.

Monday 27 August 2018

Monday.

I got up at 6.10 and had my breakfast, we had a coffee and I started a new book. I wasn’t supposed to start another till I had finished my knitting but I couldn’t resist. H did some Spanish homework and at  9 o’clock we got ready to go out on our bikes. We rode 39.4 miles! It was lovely, on and off road, we really enjoyed it. When we got home we had a coffee and a sandwich for lunch and also a pint of shandy because we were both so thirsty. I had a shower and watched the Spanish road race. When it was over I cooked dinner. We had spaghetti bolognese. Tomorrow I have to go to work but I have had a lovely long break.

Sunday 26 August 2018

Lazy day .

I got up at 6.20 and put on a load of washing. We had our breakfast and then a coffee. I dressed so I could hang out the washing when it was done. It was very dull and rather windy so we decided not to go out . I sat and knitted both fronts of the coat I am knitting. We had cheese and beetroot sandwiches for lunch and a slice of cake. We had a coffee and watched a ‘vera’. I got my washing in, all nice and dry and the next minute it was raining and has been ever since. We had a nice glass of wine while we were watching the cycle race in Spain. When it was over I had a bath and then cooked dinner. We had fish pie with peas . I sat and knitted some more and had a game of scrabble. Now I am watching a ‘ miss Marple ‘ but I have seen it before. We hope to go out on our bikes tomorrow. I think my day of doing nothing has helped my back because I haven’t felt it much today.

Saturday 25 August 2018

Saturday.

I got up at 6.40 after a good sleep and had my breakfast. We had a coffee and I sat and knitted till H went up to turbo. After he had gone I made some damson jam. I washed and weighed my fruit, added water and brought it to the boil. Next I added sugar , cooked it for 10 more minutes and poured it into jars th at I had heated in the oven. It tastes nice. When that was done I made the second tier of the wedding cake. So it’s 2 down and one to go. I picked all our ripe tomatoes and for lunch we had a cheese and tomato sandwich and a cup of coffee. I knitted for most of the afternoon, decided I needed some air so went outside to do some clearing up in the garden. I had only been out there about 40 minutes when it began to rain. They were huge spots so I thought I had better go in. It only rained a few minutes more and then the sun was out again but I couldn’t bother to go out again. We had a cup of tea and a slice of cake, I knitted again and for dinner we had sausages, mushrooms, eggs and fried tomatoes, very tasty. The cake is cooked and looks pretty good. I just tried the jam and it’s very tasty. My daughter had a great time in London over the last 2 days .

Friday 24 August 2018

Friday.

H woke me up at 6.10, I was fast asleep! We had our breakfast and got ourselves ready to go shopping. After Asda we went to M& S for a ‘ meal deal ‘ and a load of fish. When we got home and had unpacked etc I had a coffee and read my magazine. When I had done I hung out yesterday’s washing and we got ready to go out on our bikes. We went to where son and I found plums last week and picked a bag full so I can make H some jam. This afternoon I had to go to the hairdressers so I decided I will make the jam tomorrow and the second tier of the wedding cake. Dinner was nice, we had chicken lattice pies, mixed green veg and rosemary potatoes followed by apple pie.

Thursday 23 August 2018

A lovely day.

I got up at 6.30 after a good nights sleep and put on a load of washing. The loaf I put on timer last night turned out well and after breakfast I made a coffee and walnut sponge which also turned out really well. We had a coffee and got ready to go out with my brother and his wife. When they got to ours we went straight to Holt railway station to catch a train to Sheringham. When we got on the train it was raining but by the time we got off it had stopped and the sun came out and it was a lovely day. We enjoyed the ride and the smell of the smoke brought back old memories. We walked down to the sea and it was beautiful, the tide was out so there was loads of golden sands, the sea was a glorious colour. On the way back into town I bought crabs for our tea and they did a terrific job of wrapping them ! They asked if I was taking them home, I said yes so they added ice to the wrapping and when we got home hours later they were cold and fresh. John then treated us to lunch and also a huge ice cream. It was so funny, H was eating his and his cone broke in half, he managed to catch it and and by the time he had eaten it he was covered in ice cream. We were all laughing, my brother more than most!! And then his did the same. You have never seen 2 men in such a mess I laughed so much I cried. I had no trouble with mine! We then went for a walk and then back to the station for our return train ride. It was a steam engine again, this time the Black Prince, last night it was on anglia news and the weather man was reading the weather from it. We got back to our car and drove to Baconsthorpe castle. John and Judy had never been before and found it very interesting. Then we came home for crabs with my nice new loaf and butter, 2 cups of tea and a slice of cake. Anyway it all added up to a brilliant day

Wednesday 22 August 2018

Wednesday.

It was work today so I got up at 5.40 put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I dressed, made the bed, packed my lunch and hung out the washing, then off I went to work. We were really busy! I had to pick 2 boxes of tomatoes, 55 bunches of radishes, 50 bunches of beetroot, 20 bunches of bolden beetroot, 72 bunches of carrots and 24 bunches of purple carrots. Andy joined me later on but I was already on the carrots and had done half. They were hard to dig up because the ground has gone hard. We finished it all by 12.30 so we went and trimmed 2 boxes of leeks, my first this season. On my way home I called at the chicken farm for eggs and when I got home H and I had a banana milkshake. I sat down to drink mine and the doorbell rang, it was my brother John and his wife from New Zealand. They had just popped round to make sure they knew the way because they are coming round tomorrow. We had a c of tea and a nice chat. When they left I had a shower and cooked dinner. We had Cornish pasties with potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, green beans and kale. Tomorrow we are going on the ‘ poppy line’ north Norfolk railway.

Tuesday 21 August 2018

Tuesday.

I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. My back is still sore . I hung the washing out and made the bed. Today is our son in law’s birthday 🍰 and we met him and our daughter at 9.30 to go for a bike ride to Reepham station for cake. It was a really nice ride, the 2 men did the extra 3.5 miles round the loop while we took the short cut. When the men arrived we had coffee and cakes, our daughter was stung by a wasp!! We all came home together and H and I had our lunch. I changed and did a bit of work in the garden and then sat in the sun for a while. I got my washing in all nice and dry again. I had a shower and then cooked dinner, chicken curry.
It’s been a good day for us, we have had our exercise and topped up our tans.

Monday 20 August 2018

Monday.

I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, made the bed, dressed, hung out the washing and went to work. I only had to pick 25 bunches of radishes and a box of tomatoes so then I did a bit of weeding in the greenhouse till coffee break. After that I had to go with Andy to trim enough turnips to fill 10 sacks and also a box of loose carrots. I had time to weed a bit more before home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and I got lunch for us all. Son and I had salad and H had a cheese sandwich with tomato relish that our daughter in law made, it’s delish.  After lunch our son got ready to go home. H ran me a bath and then I cooked dinner. We had a pork and apple burger, our own home grown tomatoes, ( fried) , fried potatoes and an egg. We were supposed to have mushrooms too but I forgot them. Tomorrow I have no work, it’s our son in law’s birthday tomorrow, we are meeting him and our daughter tomorrow to go for a bike ride so I hope the weather is dry.

Sunday 19 August 2018

Sunday.

I got up at 5.55 put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. Next I sat and read my book til he washing was done then I hung it out. It’s dull, windy but really warm. When it was time H went up to join a bike race on Zwift . I carried on reading till son got up and then I had a coffee and we got ready to go out for a ride. We did over 22 miles all off road, it was hard work. For lunch we had salad, my back is sore again so I haven’t done much today. It’s strange how I don’t feel it when I am on my bike. For dinner tonight we had gammon steaks, with roasted mushrooms, peppers and courgette and steamed potatoes, carrots cauliflower, kale and green beans. I had a long soak in the bath but it doesn’t seem to have helped my back at all, sometimes it eases it.

Saturday 18 August 2018

Saturday.

I got up at 6.35, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I hung the washing out when it was done and H made me a coffee. I did a bit of tidying up and our son got up just after 9 am. We all sat about talking and then at 10.10 H and I left to go and pick up my brother and sister in law to take them out for the day. John and Judy live in New Zealand and are over here for a visit. We hadn’t seen them for 10 or 11 years so it was great. I had forgotten how big my brother is  (6.foot 5 😗)to my 5.5! We had a lovely day, we went to Cromer and it was packed! We were going to just have chips and then do nuts for lunch but the queue was so long at the chip shop we just had the donuts. We had to queue for them for quite a while as well. We also had a coffee. We went for a bit of a walk and then went back to the car and drove to Sheringham Park and did another walk there. When we got home I rang our other son and also our daughter to tell them we were back so they could come round when they liked. The plan was for us all to have a Thai takeaway. No 2 son was at the climbing centre so when he came back we all ordered. 3 of the couples were having a setThai meal for 2. One couple were having Chinese, chicken balls, sweet and sour sauce, special fried rice etc and our other son was just having some duck curry thing. We had it all written down and ordered it over the phone. They said it would be 45 mins which was fine. When it arrived ( on time) we handed over £95and then opened it all up. Well what a nightmare! We actually had about a third of our order. Out Daugter sorted it all out over the phone and they came back with another load, very apologetic and with masses of freebies, 2 large bottles of coke, more prawn crackers and over a dozen fortune cookies. In normal circumstances it wouldn’t have mattered to us because we are all prett laid back but as just one of the Thai meals for 2 arrived in the first lot we gave it to my  N Z brother and his wife, they didn’t like to eat it while we were all waiting for bits and pieces I think they ate theirs only Luke warm so it was spoilt a bit. H took them back to my other brothers where they are staying tonight and when he got back he had a drink and went to bed.

Friday 17 August 2018

Friday a

I got up just before 6 and woke H up. We both had toast for breakfast and as soon as we were done we got ready to go for our weekly shop. When we got home we unpacked and put everything away. H made us a coffee while I hung out the washing and put on another load, then I sat down with my coffee, a cream and chocolate merangue and read my magazine. We got our garden chairs out and H got my bike out of the garage for me. I did a bit of my knitting and when H went up to ride on the turbo trainer I biked to Reepham along the track. The reason  went was because I wanted some bacon  because our no 2 son is coming home this evening. As I was going there I met another cyclist who said ‘ where’s your helmet?’ I said I don’t need one on the track but to be honest I very really wear it. Anyway when I got home I had a comment on my strava page saying ‘ I heard you were seen out with no helmet’ ! How do these people know who I am? I don’t know any of them!😊 I had a crab for lunch and H had a Cornish pastie. We had a glass of wine and then I got all the washing in and did a bit of clearing up. For dinner we had steak and onion pie with peas and sweet corn. I had a text from my sister in law to say that my brother and his wife have arrived safely from New Zealand so I am looking forward to seeing them tomorrow.

Thursday 16 August 2018

Thursday

I got up st 5.30 put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, made my bed dressed and started a bit of knitting till it was time for me to go to work. I didn’t hang out the washing out because H was going for his Spanish lesson and I didn’t want him worrying about it. It’s a good job I didn’t because by the time I got to work it was very dull and within half an hour it was raining. It rained for most of the morning and even with my ‘wet gear’ on, by the time I got homeI was wet through to the skin. I had to pick. 32 bunches of radishes, 42 bunches of beetroot, 22 bunches of golden beetroot, 120 bunches of carrots, 10 bunches of purple carrots and 80 bunches of spring onions. Andy joined me around 10.30 and by then I had done the radishes, all the beetroot and several of the carrots. Oh, we also had to do a box of loose carrots. Anyway we finished it all by 12.55 just in time for me to go home so no more work till Monday. H had to bike to his lesson because I had the car so he got wet through too. We both had a bath which warmed us up nicely. I had corned beef for lunch and or dinner tonight we had pork chops, new potatoes , runner beans and carrots.

Wednesday 15 August 2018

Wednesday.

H came in at 6 this morning to wake me up! I aws sound asleep 💤. I had my breakfast, packed my lunch, dressed etc and got ready to go to work. I had to pick all the tomatoes first. They are little sun gold tomatoes. I picked 7 boxes each with around 300 tomatoes in. When I had done it was 9.43 so I had to pick a few bunches of spring onions till it was 10 o’clock. (22bunches). After break I helped Andy to wash and pack beetroot and carrots the had done earlier, then we went Bach up the field where I picked 50 bunches of radishes and helped Andy on beetroot till hometime. When I got home H made me a cup of coffee and we had pilchards and beetroot for lunch. I sat in the sun for an hour and then the sun went in so I gardened for an hour. We had liver casserole again for dinner because I made such a big one yesterday there was loads left over. I had a bath and the water turned green because of the way my arms had been brushing against the tomato plants so then I had to rinse off in the shower! I have to work again tomorrow.

Tuesday 14 August 2018

Tuesday.

I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing. I had my usual breakfast and hung out the washing. H made us a coffee and did a bit of his Spanish homework so I sat and read my book. At 9.30 we got ready to go out on our bikes. H wasn’t too keen to go so we only did 17.8 miles and really slowly. As soon as we got home we washed and changed and went to the old rectory to confirm my booking for my early birthday lunch. It is now all booked and the deposit paid so I can sort out my invitations. As soon as we were back from there we had cheese on toast for lunch with a coffee. I got the washing in all nice and dry yet again. For dinner we had liver and mushroom casserole with peas and mashed potatoes. I have to work again tomorrow and the boss said we might be starting leeks. Trimming leeks is one of my favourite jobs.

Monday 13 August 2018

Monday.

I got up at 5.30 and had my breakfast, egg and courgette with a mug of tea. I packed my lunch, a slice of cheese and a tomato with a bottle of water. I dressed, made the bed and got ready to go to work. I had to pick one box of tomatoes, 27 bunches of radishes, 20 bunches of beetroot, 48 bunches of carrots and 10 bunches of spring onions. After that I carried on with the weeding. 10 minutes before it was time for me  to leave off it poured with rain! I was soaked in minutes I was annoyed, it could have waited a little longer! When I got home H hadn’t had a drop!
Yesterday I made the first tier of my granddaughters wedding cake, it’s enormous! I put it in the oven at 8.30 and it was finally cooked at 4.25. Yesterday I had toast for breakfast, a sausage sandwich for lunch and Cornish pastie with cauliflower, carrots and new potatoes for dinner. We had a glass of wine 🍷 and we finished the bottle this afternoon. Lunch today was corned beef ,H had his in a sandwich but I had just the meat. I had a bath and for dinner tonight we both had a huge bowl of spaghetti bolognese. I haven’t got to work again till Wednesday so I hope tomorrow will be sunny.

Saturday 11 August 2018

Saturday

I got up at 6.30 after a good nights sleep. I put on a load of washing and had eggs for breakfast. I hung the washing out when it was done. Today H was expecting a parcel, I was going out for a short ride but had to wait for the postman first. H went up at 9am to ride a 100k bike race and as I was having to hang about till he finished! It took him over 3 hours so I decided to make the first tier of the wedding cake. I weighed out all the fruit into my large mixing bowl (2lbs currants, 1 lb raisins, etc etc) and to cut a long story short all the fruit completely filled the bowl! I was supposed to add 20 ozs of flour and spices!! Then if I had creamed the 20 ozs of butter and 20 ozs of sugar and beaten in 12 eggs there is no way I would be able to mix it in. What a nightmare! I then had to wait for H to finish, shower, dress etc. before I could go out to buy something larger and leave him on postman duty. By the time I got back it was too late to make the cake because it’s going to take so many hours to bake. To make matters worse when I arrived home the parcel was on the doormat!! So I have sealed up the fruit and will start again in the morning. I was a bit fed up then so I decided to do my favourite job and work in the garden. I spent all the rest of the out there. When I came in I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had lasagna with fried tomatoes.

Friday 10 August 2018

Friday.

I got up at 6.13 when H came and woke me! He had made the tea and popped my bread onto the toaster. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. H put on a loaf of bread. As soon as I had cleaned my teeth, dressed etc we went to Asda for our weekly shop. I only spent £60, o8 and I had 2 bottles of wine. We went from there to our butchers in Hevingham where I spent £ 99.23. So now the freezer is nice and full. When we got home I unpacked etc while H made us a coffee. We had it with a cream do nut. I read my magazine and hung out the washing and as soon as the bread was done we went out on our bikes. We did a short ride because turned very black and we didn’t want to get caught in the rain.(17.7 miles). As soon as we got home I got the washing in (all dry) and within minutes it was raining. We had a pork pie for lunch with salad, H had a plain one and I had a Stilton topped one, it was delicious. I did the ironing and we had a glass of wine. Next I washed my hair, had a shower and cooked dinner, paella with cheese, garlic and herb bread. Strawberries and cream for dessert. In Asda I bought some super glue and h stuck my Apple Watch up! It’s perfect! They wanted to send it away at the Apple store and it was going to cost £150 !!! Next time it goes wrong I will have a new one.

Thursday 9 August 2018

Thursday.

I got up at 6.30 and read a chapter of my book before making a pot of tea and having my breakfast. I packed my lunch, dressed, made the bed and went to work. I had to pick 23 bunches of radishes, 30 bunches of beetroot, 6 bunches of golden beetroot, 75 bunches of carrots and 56 bunches of spring onions. After that I had to pick 3 boxes of sungold tomatoes which only left me 32 minutes to weed. We had a little rain on and off all morning while I was working, just enough to make things messy but not enough to do any good which was quite disappointing but this afternoon it rained more heavily and hasn’t stopped yet. On the way home I went to the chicken farm for 2 dozen large eggs and when I got indoors H poured me a nice cup of coffee. I read more of my book and then had a bath. For dinner tonight we had pork chops with potatoes, carrots and cabbage that were all still growing in the field up to 10 o’clock this morning. I don’t have to work till Monday so the weekend starts here.

Wednesday 8 August 2018

Wednesday.

I got up at 5.40 and put on a load of washing. I had egg and courgette for breakfast, packed cheese and tomato for lunch with 2 bottles of water. I made the bed , hung out the washing and got ready to go to work. I had to pick 2 boxes of tomatoes first and then go weeding till coffee break. After that I had to pick 55 bunches of radishes, 30 bunches of beetroot and 36 bunches of carrots 🥕. I went back to the weeding and did it for the last half hour. When I got home I had a cup of coffee and a slice of corned beef. We had a cup of tea later and a chocolate biscuit. I had a shower and for dinner we had chicken and pasta. H had a Spanish lesson this morning as usual. I have to work again tomorrow and I hope it’s another day like today, the temperature was much better.

Tuesday 7 August 2018

Tuesday.

I woke up at 4 am laid there till 5.20 and thought to myself I will get up at 5.30. The next minute it seemed I woke up at 6.30. I felt great. We had our breakfast, I put on a load of washing and H made us a coffee. I made the bed and hung out the washing. H had a shave and said we should get ready to go out on our 🚲. We went all the way to Reepham along the track, rode on the road back to Whitwell and then back on the track all the way home. We were really flying and it was a brilliant ride. 22.9 miles in under 1 hour 43 mins. We had another coffee and a bun and had a shower. It was too hot to sit outside so I read some of my book. At 3 pm we got ready to go to the City to see if we could get my watch fixed. As we were there early we had a wander round the ‘ house of Fraser’ where H bought us a cold drink and a cheese scone and butter. We then went to the Apple store to sort my watch but as it’s out of guarantee they said it would be £180 but told H he could probibly fix it with super glue! He says he will try and if he messes it up he will buy me a new one. We then came home we had a cup of tea and a banana sandwich because we just aren’t hungry. Tomorrow I have to go to work. The forecast is for rain tonight but I don’t suppose it will.

Monday 6 August 2018

Monday.

I got up at 5.40 and had my breakfast, egg and courgette with a large mug of tea. I packed my lunch (tomato and cheese) with 2 bottles of water. I dressed, made the bed and read a magazine till it was time to go to work. I had to pick 28 bunches of radishes, 30 bunches of beetroot, 36 bunches of carrots and 6 bunches of spring onions. It was all done by coffee break so after that I had to prick out several trays of lettuce and fennel, around 1,500 plants altogether. It was terribly hot in the field.
Today our daughter and eldest granddaughter were going to walk to Reepham along the track and home again. They were meeting our  grandson who works in Reepham for lunch. They walked 17.7 miles in 5 hours and 15 minutes. Pretty good in all this heat. When I got home I had a coffee and a slice of corned beef. I had a nice cool bath and then cooked dinner, we had ribs with potatoes, carrots and beans. Yesterday my Apple Watch went wrong! I am gutted! Its still working but the glass, or screen has lifted off the rest of the casing. I had to leave  it at home today of course but I must have looked at my wrist a hundred times. I have to work again on Wednesday.

Sunday 5 August 2018

Sunday.

I got up at 6 o’clock and put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. We had a coffee, then I hung out the washing. After we had cleaned our teeth etc we got ready to go out on our bikes. We had a nice ride, (34.5 miles) . Having hybrid bikes really suit us, we started off on the track for 8 miles then did some road work and back on the track for the last 10 miles. We had a coffee and a fried egg sandwich when we got home and sat in the garden for a while but it was too hot so we came inside again. We drank our last bottle of cider and had a banana. I will have to get back on my diet soon. I haven’t been eating too much but I’ve had too much of the demon drink 🍷. Wasted calories. For dinner tonight we had steak, chips and peas. I only had 2 things that needed ironing so I did them right away. It’s work for me tomorrow.

Saturday 4 August 2018

Yesterday.

I got up at 5.30, made a pot of tea and had 2 cream crackers spread with butter and marmite for my breakfast. I sat and read till H got up and then we had a coffee. After watching the news I stripped the bed and put on a load of washing. When it was done I hung out and then I stood and ironed for 1 hour and 10 minuites!! H, by then, was on his turbo riding a 100 k race so I rewarded myself by spending the rest of the morning in the garden. I cleared my oval bed and cut round the edging bricks first which took ages. For lunch we had a coffee and a banana and I carried on gardening. I trimmed all down one side of the lawn and pulled loads of weeds and dead stuff out of the border. My garden bin was emptied Friday and now it’s fill. H came out and trimmed some shrubs for me that I couldn’t reach but they are piled up on the patio waiting to go in the bin in 2 weeks time. We had a G&T mid afternoon and when I went in H ran me a bath. After Friday’s cold bath I hopped into this one only to find it was so hot it almost burnt my feet! I hopped out again and added cold. For dinner tonight we had beef in red wine with mushrooms, cauliflower cheese and new potatoes. It was nice, strawberries and yogurt for pudding. I stayed down all evening because we were both watching the same things on tele, midsummer and Endeavour.

Friday.

I got up  at 5.45, put on a load of washing and had a slice of toast for breakfast. As soon as we were done we went to Asda for our weekly shop. As soon as we got back we unpacked and put everything away, had a coffee and a cream and chocolate meringue. I hung out the washing, made the bed and we got ready to go out on our bikes. H needed to go to the bank so we did a round trip to Aylsham and home. It took us ages because it was so hot and we biked slowly, freewheeling where ever we could. (24.8 miles). For lunch H had a cheese and beetroot sandwich and I had a cheese salad. We both washed it down with a pint of cider. This afternoon we both fell asleep on the sofa! H ran me a cold bath! He said he had put some hot in it but it was about the same temperature as the sea was at Mundsley when I went in a few weeks ago.! For dinner tonight we had a ‘set’ Thai meal for 2. We are both stuffed!! However we both loved it and will have it again.

Thursday.

I got up at 5.40, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, made the bed, dressed etc and got ready to go to work. I had to do 90 bunches of radishes which was a real struggle because after I had done around 60 bunches I was running out and it took me ages to find the rest. Next I did 5 boxes of broard beans and then joined Andy on beetroot, golden beetroot, carrots and purple carrots. It all took till 12.20 so I ended up weeding till 1. When I got home I had a coffee, got my washing in then had a bath and washed my hair. Tonight for dinner we are going to have, eggs, bacon , chorizo, tomatoes and oven chips. I haven’t got to work anymore till Monday.
I shared the field with 2 deer today, they are beautiful.

August!!!

This month my eldest brother and his wife are coming for a visit from New Zealand, the last time they came was 11years ago.   I got up this morning  at 5.35 and had my eggs and courgette. I packed my lunch packed my bag, made the bed, dressed and went to work. I had to go with Andy and we harvested carrots. They had to be forked up, the ground is rock hard and the weeds made it a real struggle. We did just over 7 dozen bunches then did 60 bunches of beetroot. I can normally do that amount on my own in 2 hours but the weed and solid ground made it really slow. After break I had to do 3 boxes of broard beans and then go weeding. I packed a few lettuce too. When I got home I had a coffee and sat in the garden with H. We had a pint of shandy because we were so thirsty. We came in at 2.2o because it was too hot. I had a bath for a change and for dinner we had quiche with mushrooms and tomatoes. I am at work again tomorrow.
