Tuesday 31 March 2020

Day 12.

I got up just before 7.30 and put on a load of washing. H was up and had made the tea so he poured me a cup. Next he came in with my coffee. When the washing was done I hung it out and fed the birds. When H went upstairs for his exercise  I made and ate my porridge, made the bed, dressed and went outside to work in the garden. I have finished cutting all round the edge of the lawn now I just have to do the oval bed. I also have to Dort the bed out, it’s a right mess. It’s supposed to be a rockery but so much rubbish has grown up you can hardly see the rocks. When H finished his ride, 40 miles, he tapped on the kitchen window and I went in. He made us an instant coffee and I got cheese and biscuits with pickle for lunch. When I had finished mine I read a chapter of my book. At 1.45 I went up for my exercise. I did half as much as H, 20 miles. When I finished I had a shower, got the washing in, all dry, and waited for tipping point to come on. When it was over I cooked dinner which was minced beef with onions, carrot, peas and tomato purée and an oxo cube poured over jacket potatoes 🥔. We had rice pudding for dessert. We also had a G&T. Now I am going to watch my soaps, well the few that are still on.

Monday 30 March 2020

Day 11. Of isolation

I got up at 7.15 and H poured me a cup of tea. As soon as I had drunk it he made me a coffee! I hung out yesterday’s washing and fed the birds. When I came in I made and ate my porridge. I spent quite a long while writing an email to New Zealand and then I went outside and worked in the garden. I finished all the way round the lawn and it looks nice and tidy but I still have to cut all round an oval bed that’s set in the lawn. Mid morning we had an instant coffee and at 12 o’clock I went in to make some vegetable soup. After we had eaten it,( it was nice) I went up to the pain cave. I did 20.4 miles av 19 mph. When I finished I had a bath, we watched tipping point and we just had scrambled eggs on toast for tea plus a banana. With our soup we had a load of grated cheese so with all the veg it was a good meal. The virus 🦠 is still spreading fast, the Olympic Games have finally been officially cancelled till next year and loads of firms will go bust. They said on our local news tonight that Norwich airport will struggle if a firm pulls out, but it’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good as they say. If the airport closed my boss would be a multi millionaire because his land would be worth a fortune.

Sunday 29 March 2020

Sunday, day 10

I got up at 7.20 and put on a load of washing. H poured me a cup of tea and when I had drunk it he made me a coffee. He went up to turbo and I vacuum all upstairs. I went to see how he was getting on and there was over 400 in his race! When he finished he had a shower and we had a coffee. At 12 he had a date scone and a cuppa soup and I had a tomato with a slice of cheese. Earlier I was about to hang out my washing and it want a bit black so I thought I would hang on. The next minute it began to hail then snow which finally turned to rain. I brightened up again but I could see another huge cloud coming up and the same thing happened again so my washing stayed in the basket. At 2 we had a glass of wine 🍷 and I was supposed to be having a ride but I just didn’t feel like it. I made a pot of tea at 3 and when I had drunk mine I went up for a bath then I cooked dinner. We had duck breasts  with roast potatoes, cabbage and leeks. Our son who lives in London phoned yesterday and he said he had queued to get into Waitrose for over 2 hours! But he said it was fine when he got in and they had everything he wanted.

Saturday 28 March 2020

Day 9 of isolation.

I got up at 6.15 and put on a load of washing. H was already up and had made the tea so I had a cup. I took the meal worms out for the birds and 2 black birds were eating them before I had finished tipping them out. Next I hung out the washing, made the bed and dressed. We had a coffee and H went up to turbo. I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away and then I made my porridge. H had trouble with his ride, it ‘dropped out’ and he had to start again. There were over 20 thousand  people on zwift! When he finished we had a coffee and a pot noodle for lunch. I read a whole load of my book and at 2.30 I went up for a ride . I did 20.5 miles so I have ridden 110 miles this week, all indoors.! When I finished we had a glass of wine 🍷 and watched tipping point. I got the washing in, dry again. I had a bath and washed my hair. For dinner we had fish cakes with jacket potatoes and baked beans. Yogurt for pudding. When I was getting the washing in I dropped a peg, I looked down, saw where it went took the second peg off the t shirt 👕 and bent down to pick the peg up but I couldn’t find it! I was so annoyed it must be there right in front of my eyes but I spent 5 minutes looking. I will try again tomorrow!

Friday 27 March 2020

Friday ( day 8 )

I got up at 6. 10 and had my breakfast. I took 2 pork chops out of the freezer for dinner tonight and some cooked turkey slices to put in our lunch sandwiches. When H got up we had a coffee and I got the bin in after it had been emptied. I did all the ironing up to date and started a new book. At 10 o’clock we had a coffee and I went out to work in the garden for a while. I came in to make the lunch sandwiches and couldn’t be bothered to go out again so I read a bit more of my book. At 1.30 I went up to have a ride on the turbo trainer. I did 20.4 miles av 19 mph. I hope this is doing me some good while we are stuck indoors. When I finished I had a shower and then cooked dinner. We had pork chops, potatoes, cauliflower and leeks. Our pudding was fruit trifle and squirty cream again.
Poor Boris has the virus 🦠 and it is still spreading fast.

Thursday 26 March 2020

Day 7.

I got up at 6.05, put on a load of washing and had buttered toast for breakfast with a cup of tea. After H had got up and eaten his breakfast he made us a coffee. I hung out the washing , made the bed and dressed. I sat and finished my book so I could give it back to our daughter when we next saw her. H went up to turbo and I dusted all downstairs. When he finished we had a sausage sandwich with a coffee. I sat in the garden for half an hour in my shorts-it was as long as I could bare, it was so cold. I managed to sit out longer yesterday as it was a bit warmer. But when I came in I put my shorts back in the cupboard because we aren’t getting any warm days for a while. Daughter let me know she had our shopping so we went round to collect it. She was looking out for us and when we arrived she came out we opened our boot(from inside the car) she popped our shopping in and closed the boot, job done. When we got home we had a cup of tea, watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. Chicken curry then fruit trifle with squirty cream.

Wednesday 25 March 2020

Wednesday day 6

I got up at 6.20 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and H got up. We both had tea and porridge for breakfast but he also had a slice of toast. I hung the washing out when it was done and H fed the birds. I dressed and made the bed and took some sausages out of the freezer for dinner tonight. H went outside and sat in the garden so I put my shorts on and joined him. I made us both a coffee before I sat down. We were outside for quite a while and I can actually see a mark where my shorts were. It’s a pity it’s going to turn cooler again. As we are stuck here isolated if the weather was good we would be able to get a really nice tan. For lunch we had cream crackers and cheese with pickles. I pulled a few weeds out of the garden and then I went upstairs to turbo. I did 21.1 miles. When I finished H ran me a bath, we watched tipping point with a cup of tea and a biscuit and then I cooked dinner. We had sausages, eggs, peas, sweet corn and potato wedges. Yummy.
Today H took our toilet light switch and fitting down rewired  it all, put it back and joy of joy it works. He has done a great job. Next I hope to get him to mow the front and back lawns and clean the car.

Tuesday 24 March 2020

Day 5 .

I got up at 6.20 and put on a load of washing. I had tea and porridge for breakfast. H came down at 6.50 and had the same. I put a load of meal worms out for the birds and refilled the bird bath. We had a proper coffee and then I dressed and hung out the washing. I made the bed, brought the vacuum cleaner downstairs, emptied it, cut the hairs off the brushes and vacuumed all downstairs. H went up to turbo and I read 2 chapters of my book. I am trying to ration it but it’s so good I struggle to put it down. At 10.30 I made 2 coffees and took H his upstairs. Mine, I took into the garden. I wed the patio and the pots on it. When H finished he tapped on the window and I went in to get lunch. We had a cheese sandwich with a pickled onion. H also had soup. At 2 o’clock I went on the training bike and did 24. 2 miles again . When I finished I had a bath and washed my hair.. I cooked dinner, we had breaded cod with cauliflower, leeks and potatoes. Our daughter and granddaughter sent me a picture of what they have been doing today, colouring in those adult colouring books. It’s a good idea, I have a couple of them, I will have to fish them out, I am fed up with playing patience!

Monday 23 March 2020

Day 4 ,Monday

I got up at 6 o’clock, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea , a bowl of porridge and had my breakfast. I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. H came down and had his breakfast. When he had done he made us a coffee. When the washing was done I dressed and hung it out. I fed the birds and did a bit of housework. H went up to turbo and I made the bed and went out to work in the garden. I finished clearing the path so tomorrow I will start on the patio. By the end of all this my garden should be immaculate. We had soup and a bun for lunch and then it was my turn in the pain cave. I had a slow ride for a change. H put a small ring on for me so I could just twiddle and not go anywhere very fast. I did 24.2 miles, average speed 15.8 mph. When I finished H made popcorn and I poured the wine. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner, pasta in a beef sauce.
Today I should have been at work, I wish I could have gone but H is really worried that I will bring covid 19 home to him. It’s not worth all the stress for mínimum wage. I wonder if I will ever go back.

Sunday 22 March 2020

Day three.

I took ages to get to sleep last night, I couldn’t think what day it was and wether I had to go to work in the morning or if I could lay in. I was so annoyed when I remembered I don’t have to go to work again and can stay in bed as long as I like any day. When I bot up as 6.30 I put on a load of washing and H poured me a cup of tea. I fed the birds and we had a coffee. When H went up to turbo I I made and ate my porridge. I dressed and made the bed, then I hung out the washing. It was lovely and sunny 🌞 outside but the wind was freezing so I put my coat on and worked in the garden while I listened to the Archers omnibus. When it was over I went in and H had just finished his ride so I made us a coffee. We had a cheese and beetroot sandwich for lunch and I started a new book and read 4 chapters before getting ready for a turbo. It was so hot in the pain cave! The sun was full on the window and the room was like an oven. We have a huge fan in there but I can’t bare to have it on. I decided to only ride 10 miles. H came up to see how I was getting on and as I had nearly finished he went down and made a pot of tea. I poured as soon as I got down. I sat with H and watched a Columbo then we had our baths and after that a glass of wine. I have had a nice relaxing day and haven’t had to do any cooking because we have yesterday’s left over stew.

Saturday 21 March 2020

Day 2. ( Saturday)

I got up at 6.25 and put on a load of washing. H was up and had made the tea so I poured. Next we watched some more depressing news about corvid 19 and I hung the washing out when it was done. We had a coffee and H went up to get ready for his ride. I then made and ate my porridge. After that I dressed, got my bike out of the garage and also some stewing steak out of the freezer. I cycled to the doctors to post my prescription through the door. It was the first time I have been out on my bike for ages. The wind was really too strong so I didn’t go as far as I wanted too. I did 5.5 miles. When I got home H had finished his ride and was in the shower. I made a beef stew for dinner tonight, it’s always better if it’s made early and reheated, the meat is more tender.  I made us an instant coffee and a cheese and pickle sandwich. We also had a choc chip bun. I decided that I had better have a bit of a ride upstairs so I changed into my comfy shorts and did 15 miles to add to my 5. I showered, dressed and read a bit of my book. Our daughter and son in law came round to bring my Mother’s Day present because she has to work tomorrow. Chocolate, wine and some beautiful roses. Plus milk,  apples and a magazine and a book. I had to laugh, our son in law said he had been out panic buying. When we asked what he said charcoal briquettes.! We spoke to them through the patio doors! They were in the conservatory and we were in the lounge. We had a cup of tea and I reheated the stew. It was very nice and we have enough for dinner tomorrow as well.

Friday 20 March 2020

Day one of our self isolation.

I got up at 6.10 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and waited for H to get up before pouring. We had a coffee and our porridge. I hung the washing out and dressed. I made the bed and read a chapter of my book. Normally on Fridays we do our shopping and I treat us to a cream cake to go with our coffee and I sit and read my magazine. Well today no cream cakes and no magazine! H rode on the turbo this morning, he climbed up the volcano. I was supposed to ride this afternoon but I just didn’t want too .we had cheese and biscuits for lunch and I went out to work in the garden. I forgot to say we had a hail storm earlier and I had to get the washing in again. Anyway H came out to see how I was getting on and said he was going is to do a bit of painting in the pain cave and then have a bath. I carried on with my gardening,’ needed to spend a penny’ so thought I would call it a day and go in only to find that H had locked me out! I rank the doorbell, tapped on the window etc all to no avail. I was getting desperate by this time and began to think I would have to ‘go ‘ in the garden. I rang the front doorbell one last time and H turned up wrapped in a towel and still wet!😄 . Our daughter is coming round tomorrow and is bringing us milk, apples and my magazine😊.
For dinner we had steak and kidney pie with potatoes, cauliflower and purple sprouting broccoli.

Thursday 19 March 2020

Thursday.

I got up at 5.25, put on a load of washing and then made a pot of tea and porridge for breakfast. We had a coffee and I hung out the washing. I dressed, made the bed and read some of my book. When H went up to turbo I went outside to do a bit of work on the garden. When H finished his ride he came outside and together we managed to cut up the base of the exploding coffee table and get it in the bin.  We went in and had a cup of minestrone soup for lunch. After that I changed into my padded shorts to  have a ride in the pain cave. I did 21 miles av 18.7 mph. When I finished H ran me a bath and I also washed my hair. When I got back downstairs he had made a pot of tea so we had a cup with a ginger biscuit. We watched tipping point and I cooked dinner. We had spaghetti bolognese.
H and I have decided today that we are going to completely self isolate. I will ring my boss tomorrow and tell him that I won’t be going back till the ‘ all clear ‘ has been sounded. We will manage with the provisions we have in the house for as long as they last and see how we get on. I thought I would get a milk man to deliver but they have been inundated with calls and are not taking any more customers.  I will miss my work but I suppose it’s better than dying!

Wednesday 18 March 2020

Wednesday.

I got up at 5.35, put on a load of washing and had tea and toast for breakfast. I packed my lunch dressed, hung out the washing and then sat and read till it was time for me to go to work. I made the bed before I left because I hate having to do it when I come home. I asked H to get my washing in at 12 because it was supposed to be raining here by then. When I got to work it was crazy, we were so busy. One customer wasted 15 boxes of rhubarb, 15 boxes of purple sprouting broccoli and 30 sacks of leeks. Somebody else had ordered 30 dozen  cauliflowers . There were only 2 of us working because Andrew was out gardening. The boss had to come and help. We also had to have cabbages and leeks. When I left off at 1 it had just begun to rain. When I got home my washing was still on the line. I was not amused! H had nothing to to all day. I stormed up the garden and got it in and to be fair it wasn’t that wet but that wasn’t the point. I did nothing all afternoon I was too tired. We watched tipping point, I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had duck legs with potatoes, cauliflower and leeks.it was very tasty. I don’t have to go to work till Monday.

Tuesday 17 March 2020

Tuesday.

I got up early because I had a dickie tummy so I thought I would put the washing machine on. I didn’t bother to go back to bed I just dozed on the sofa. When H got up I stripped the bed and put on a second load of washing. We had our breakfast, (porridge and tea ) and then we also had a coffee. I fed the birds and hung out the washing. It was a lovely dry, sunny and windy. H went out to the garage to look for a tool and I worked in the garden. I have started cutting round the edge of the lawn and bricks. It’s a job I enjoy and always takes me a while to finish. When H came in he tapped on the window and I went in and got lunch. We had chicken sandwiches and pickled onions with a cup of coffee. At 1.45 I got ready to ride on the turbo trainer. H had fitted a new bike onto it and it was quite different. I had to get used to a new position but it worked ok. I did 21 miles av 18 mph. When I finished I made a pot of tea, had a bath and then a cup of tea and a biscuit. We watched tipping point and then I cooked dinner. We had cod in breadcrumbs with jacket potatoes and baked beans.
Tomorrow I am going to work, it might be my last day, I am not sure how long I will be able to catty on. But schools in our area are still open so there is no panic yet!

Monday 16 March 2020

Monday.

I got up at 5.30, made a pot of tea and toast and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch and watched tv till 7. Then I dressed, made the bed, fed the birds and got ready to go to work. If I had to use public transport I wouldn’t go but my work is quite isolated anyway. I was in the middle of a field, mostly on my own in the sunshine trimming leeks. It was the best day I have there this year so far. It was warm enough for me to work without a coat and nothing on my head. The birds were singing, I saw a hare  and 2 skylarks kept singing the whole morning. When I got home my cup of coffee was waiting for me. We sat and watched e film this afternoon then tipping point. I had a bath and sorted dinner. We had yesterday’s leftover chicken with peas sweet corn potato wedges and gravy. We are both worried about the dreaded virus 🦠 I don’t think we will get away without getting it I am just keeping my fingers crossed it’s not fatal for either of us. However I am more worried about my family, because at least H and I are over 80 and have had our lives and I want my children, grand children and great grandchild to have the same.

Sunday 15 March 2020

Sunday.

I got up at 6.30 and H, who was already up poured me a cup of tea. I put on a load of washing and next we had a coffee. I hung out the washing out when it was done and fed the birds. I read a chapter of my bike and when H went up to turbo. I had my porridge and after I had cleaned my teeth, dressed and made the bed I went outside to do a bit of work in the garden. I tidied the patio and did a bit of weeding. I was outside till H finished his ride and then I went in, made us a coffee and went back out to do a bit more till it was time to get lunch. We had cheese and piccalilli sandwiches again. They were delicious. I got the washing in and it was all dry. I did all my ironing up to date and put the chicken in the oven. I sat and read my book till H ran me a bath. After that I peeled the potatoes and after we had had a glass of wine I cut up the broccoli and cooked the veggies. Dinner was nice. We had rhubarb for dessert.   We have just seen on tv that the government will be making an announcement soon saying all over 70s must stay indoors! This means I won’t be able to go to work! It’s all very well but they won’t pay my wages will they! I don’t think my boss will be very happy! Mind you , he has just flown home from abroad so I hope he will be self isolating for 14 days but I very much doubt it.

Saturday 14 March 2020

Saturday

I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing and had a cup of tea. Next we had a coffee and I put the birds meal worms out. They were almost all eaten before I got back indoors. I hung the washing out when it was done. H went up to the pain cave for a ride and I sat and read a bit of my book. It went rather dark outside but I was engrossed in my book, when I looked up it was pouring with rain! I went straight outside and got my washing in but it was pretty damp!( I got soaked). H also had a problem, he was in a race, in a huge group and suddenly his chain came off, he had to climb off his bike and put it back on. By the time he had done that all the others were long gone. He rode on for a while but lost interest and gave up. Our daughter and son in law popped round for a chat because they were in the area. When they left we had our lunch, a cheese and piccalilli sandwich and a cup of coffee. This afternoon I had a ride upstairs. I did 30.1 miles and my average was 19.2 mph. I had a shower when I finished and when I went downstairs H had made a pot of tea so we had a cup with a square of plain chocolate and a ginger biscuit. For dinner tonight we had quiche with leeks and cauliflower. Yesterday our son flew home from Italy. His flight should have been Sunday evening but it was canceled. We had a message letting us know he home safely now he is in self isolation. It’s easy for him because he lives on his own.

Friday 13 March 2020

Friday 13th.

I got up at 5.50 and made a pot of tea. When H came down he cut off some bread 🍞 and we had toast for breakfast. As soon as we had done we got ready and went to Asda. It was worse than last week. There was no flour no long life milk whatsoever. I buy 3 cartons of skimmed milk every week because we use it to make bread, have it in our tea because I don’t like milky tea and H uses it to make his porridge. I had to get fresh. None of the kitchen cleaner I usually buy, very few packets of cream crackers. No toilet rolls no paracetamol. If you get the virus 🦠 you shouldn’t take paracetamol because they take down your temperature. Having a high temperature is your body fighting the virus taking it down means it will be weaker.
When we got home we unpacked and put everything away. H made us a cup of coffee and I read my magazine. When he went up to turbo I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. I made the bed and got the bins in. Next I went outside and did a bit of work in the garden. I pruned a bush that was hanging over the garden path and then some weeding till H tapped on the window to tell me he had finished his ride. I went in so I could get lunch. We had buttered kipper fillets with a slice of bread and butter. After I had done them I remembered why we don’t have them any more! All of downstairs smelled of fish! At 2 o’clock I had a ride in the pain cave. I went at a very steady pace because I didn’t want to strain my stomach which still isn’t quite right. I did 21 miles. When I finished I had a bath and washed my hair. We had a cup of tea and a biscuit and then I got dinner.
We had meat feast pizza with salad.
When I went shopping I wearing a pair of gloves, I didn’t see another person with gloves on! When I got home I took them off put them in the washing machine and washed my hands.

Thursday 12 March 2020

Thursday

I got up at 2.20  I couldn’t sleep because I had a bad stomach. I didn’t bother to go back to bed. When H got up I put on a load of washing and we had a cup of tea. Later we had a cup of proper coffee but I didn’t fancy anything to eat. H vacuumed downstairs while I cleaned the toilet and the kitchen. I hung out the washing, made the bed and fed the birds 🦅. At 10.30 H went for his Spanish lesson so I vacuumed upstairs then dusted the whole house. At midday it turned really dull so I went up the garden to get the washing in, it was dry and it was a good job I went to get it in because as I got to the back door we had a massive hail storm. When H got home we had lunch cream crackers and cheese. With a coffee. It was the first thing I had eaten today and I only had 2 cream crackers which was plenty. Our daughter came round at 2.30 for a training session leaving us downstairs to entertain our great granddaughter. She was as good as gold as usual. When daughter had done we had a cup of tea and when they left we had our baths. I cooked dinner, we had chorizo sausages, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, potato wedges and garlic bread. It was very tasty. I went up for my soaps after that. I haven’t done any exercise again today because I don’t want to upset my stomach.

Wednesday 11 March 2020

Wednesday

I got up at 5.30 after a good sleep. I had marmite on toast for breakfast with a mug of tea. I packed my lunch, made the bed dressed and then read till it was time for me to go to work. Andrew was out grass cutting today. He did 11 lawns yesterday and has 8 more to do today. Andy Andy and I trimmed leeks till 9.15 and then we went down to wash them so I could pack them while he went off to deliver to a customer. But when we arrived back at the yard Andy checked the answer phone and said customer had added 10 sacks of turnips to his order! So we left the leeks, had our break and went for the turnips. It was awful, really they are over and we have done the whole bed but we had to wander around looking for ones that had been missed. They took ages. We washed and packed them, washed the leeks and I packed leeks while Andy took the order out. By the time I had done them it was time for me to go home. When I got home H made me a cup of coffee and I had a banana. We watched ‘Paris,Nice cycle race but it was the time trial today and I find them a bit boring so I read my book. I had a bath and cooked dinner. It was the rest of the chicken with cauliflower, carrots, mashed potato and gravy. We had rhubarb and custard for pudding. I don’t have to work any more till Monday and the boss will be back from his holiday. I don’t know if he will have to self isolate.

Tuesday 10 March 2020

Tuesday.

I got up at 7.15 and had porridge for breakfast. We had a coffee and I gave the birds their meal worms. We watched a bit of news which is all about the dreaded virus 🦠. I made the bed and did a bit of clearing up in the kitchen. At 10.30 we got ready to go to Sheringham. When we got there we went to Holland and Barrett because H is almost out of peanut butter. Next we went to the hardware store where he bought 2 new padlocks for our garage. The ones we have had for over 10 years and sometimes difficult to unlock now. After that we went to the chippy where we had fish and chips for lunch with a mug of tea. When we came out we walked to the sea and for once the tide was out so I had to go and have a paddle. I was surprised to find that the sea was warmer than it was at Christmas. It was really windy today but mild and I had a lovely day. When we got home we both had a soft drink and later we had a cup of tea. We didn’t want anything to eat because we weren’t hungry. We watched a cycle race and our local news , so now I will watch my soaps.
Our youngest son was in Italy for a week but has now moved on to Croatia. He has sent us some photos and it looks nice. He should be coming back next weekend but says he will stay in London and self isolate.

Monday 9 March 2020

Monday.

I was woken up by H at 6.50 and then it was a mad rush! I put on a load of washing and had a slice of toast for breakfast. I dressed, packed my lunch and got ready to go to work, leaving H to hang out the washing when it was done and if it had stopped raining. I had to walk up to the leeks and trim them on my own. The men were supposed to join me but then didn’t turn up till 9.45, said I had enough for what was needed and we all went back to the yard. We had an early break and then washed and packed the leeks, loaded the van and Andrew went off to deliver the goods. Andy and I went back to leeks and Andrew was supposed to join us when he got back but he never came. We went down at 12.15 so we could wash them because Andrew was out gardening with the bosses wife after lunch and Andy would be on his own and you need a person at each end of the machine. After that the men went for their break and I packed 12 sacks of leeks before it was my home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a slice of corned beef and a banana. We watched a cycle race Paris /Nice. We had a cup of tea at 4 o’clock, watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. I forgot to say that I put a chicken in the oven earlier and we had a nice roast dinner with carrots, cabbage 🥬 mashed potato and gravy. My back is no worse after a morning at work but I am glad I have not got to go tomorrow.

Sunday 8 March 2020

Sunday.

I got up at 7 o’clock after a better nights sleep. I put on a load of washing. It was raining when I got up. I had a bowl of porridge for breakfast with a cup of tea. My back is not better but it’s not as painful as yesterday. I think my day of rest paid off. When the washing was done I put it into the tumble dryer. We had a coffee and I made the bed. I did a bit of dusting but I was careful not to upset my back because I have to work tomorrow.  We had fried eggs for lunch with an instant coffee and then both took an early bath because we were going to H s sisters for tea. I took my nail varnish off and redid my nails and we got ready to go. When we left home it was pouring with rain but when we got to hers it was dry and they hadn’t had any. It was a lovely afternoon and evening and we both enjoyed it. We got home just in time for me to watch the end of dancing on ice, the final and see who won. Both our eldest son and our daughter rang to speak to us today which was nice.

Saturday 7 March 2020

Saturday.

I had a second night of poor sleep because my back is painful so I have done nothing much all day. I put a load of washing on and hung it out when it was done I also got it in this afternoon when it was dry. I had porridge for breakfast, a hot cross bun for lunch and for dinner we had quiche with leeks and cauliflower. That’s it apart from laying on the settee reading.

Friday 6 March 2020

Friday.

I got up at 6.05, put on a load of washing. We had our breakfast and as soon as I was done we got ready to go to Asda. We did our shopping. It was more busy than usual and some of the shelves were pretty empty. The only thing I wanted but couldn’t get was milk powder. We need it for our bread recipe but we stopped at Tesco’s on the way home and I got some there.when we got home I unpacked and put everything away and then before I read my magazine and drank my coffee I hung out the washing. After that H and I went to Reepham in the car. It’s much quicker than on the bike. I managed to get some coasters to match the one our granddaughter bought me for Christmas. It’s one I really like. We had a coffee and jam and cream donut. When we got home we had a hot cross bun and I went up to turbo. I tried really hard today and managed to do 20 miles in under an hour. My average was 20.1 mph. I was pleased with that but I was so hot. As soon as I finished I had a bath and washed my hair. I got the washing in and it was lovely and dry. For dinner tonight we had pizza and salad. All day I have thought it was Saturday! I said to H this evening there is nothing only rubbish on tele’ so shall we watch ‘ Blythe spirit ‘ with a large G&T, he thought it was a great idea so we did. I then went up to write my blog, turned on my tv and saw the last 2 minutes of Eastenders! I couldn’t work out what it was doing on on a Saturday! I will have to get my act together!

Thursday 5 March 2020

Thursday.

I got up at 5.40 and had tea and toast for breakfast. I packed my lunch, cheese and celery for a change from tomatoes. I sat and read a chapter of my book, dressed and made the bed and went to work. Andrew went straight off to deliver the things they harvested afternoon while Andy and I picked 10 boxes of purple sprouting broccoli. He then went back to the yard to get somebody’s order while I was left on pulling up loose carrots. Andrew joined me and we did 4 boxes before break. After break Andy disappeared again so Andrew and I set up the pressure washer and washed the carrots. When Andy came back he and I went to pick 4 boxes of rhubarb leaving Andrew to pack and weigh the carrots. Next we went back to carrots where we all three had to fill 6 more boxes. Next it was 4 boxes  of parsnips. We washed everything and began packing it. Before it was done it was my home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and as soon as I had finished it I washed and changed because because our daughter and great granddaughter were coming round . Our daughter rode for an  hour while we baby sat. It’s our highlight of the week. She is such a lovely little girl. She has a cold at the moment but she didn’t make any fuss and was laughing and clapping 👏🏻 her hands. They were here almost 2 hours. When they left we watched tipping point, had a bath and then dinner, chicken curry. I am back to work on Monday.

Wednesday 4 March 2020

Wednesday.

I got up at 5.15, put on a load of washing and then had my breakfast ( tea and toast) I packed my lunch and dressed so I could hang out the washing. I sat and read my book till it was time to get ready for work. I made the bed and left. There was only Andy and I working today. First we went to purple sprouting broccoli and picked 10 boxes. Next we did 4 bunches of carrots 🥕 and 3 boxes of loose ones. We managed to find 5 kilos of beetroot for a customer although they were supposed to be finished. We took everything to the yard and washed it but left in in the drying baskets and had our break. After break we loaded the van with 30 sacks of leeks, 20 sacks of turnips and 10 boxes
of P S B for a customer and the bosses wife was going to deliver it for us so we went back up the field. We trimmed 5 boxes of leeks and picked a box of rhubarb. We took it back to the yard, washed the leeks and then packed everything. It took us to my home time. When I got home H made me a coffee. He has cycled along the track today, he says it was very muddy. We both had a slice of cake with our coffee and I listened to the Archers. I got the washing in, all dry. There was only 2 t-shirts they had to be ironed, all the rest was cycle wear. We watched tipping point and had a bath. When I came down I cooked dinner. We had pork chops with potatoes, cabbage and leeks. For pudding we had rhubarb with a dollop of yogurt. Our first rhubarb this year. I have to work again tomorrow.

Tuesday 3 March 2020

Tuesday.

I got up at 6.40, put on a load of washing and then made porridge and a pot of tea and had my breakfast. After breakfast H made us a coffee and then he went upstairs to the pain cave for a bike ride. He rode for 2 hours and when he finished he had a shower and when he came down I made us a coffee. No sooner had I made it than there was a ring at the door and our coffee table had arrived.
( We would have gone out on our bikes today but we had to wait in for the delivery 🚚.) it was a flat pack and the instructions  said it would take 2 people 30 minutes to assemble. Well we make a good team and it went together really well and took us 20 minutes! It very nice. When that was done I got cheese and biscuits for lunch with a cup of soup. At 2 o’clock I went up for a ride, I did 22.2 miles and my average speed was 19.7 mph. It was hot work. I ran myself a bath hen I had done and I also washed my hair. We watched tipping point and then I cooked dinner, spaghetti bolognese. I got my washing in just before we had a shower of rain but it wasn’t completely dry, mainly because it was towels and the heavy bathmat. Tomorrow I have to go to work.

Monday 2 March 2020

Monday.

I got up at 5.15 and put on a load of washing. I had tea and toast for breakfast, packed my lunch, dressed and then relaxed with a book till it was time for me to go to work. I just made the bed before I went. It was pouring with rain all the way to work and when I walked up to the leeks but it soon stopped and the best bit was, there was no wind. The men joined me on leeks as soon as they had cut some cabbages and purple sprouting broccoli. When we had 4 boxes of leeks we went back to the yard to wash and pack them. We loaded the van with the deliveries and had our break. When we had done Andrew went off to deliver and Andy and I went back to leeks. Andrew joined us when he got back and we did another 10 boxes. We drove back to the yard harvesting a box of celeriac on the way.
Andy went off to water the baby plants in the greenhouse on the hot bed and Andrew and I washed the leeks. The men went off for their break and I packed leeks into 5 kg sacks till it was my home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had some cheese and biscuits. H had hung the washing out for me after the rain stopped so I got it in and it was dry. We had a cup of tea while we were watching tipping point. I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had sirloin steaks with chips, mushrooms and peas. I have to work again on Wednesday.

Sunday 1 March 2020

Sunday.

I got up at 6.15 and put on a load of washing. H was up at 6 so he made the pot of tea. I had a cup but decided to wait for my porridge till he was riding upstairs. Before he went up we had a coffee. He went up at 7.30 to ride in a 2 hour race at 8.15. I then had my breakfast and went up to dress so I could hang out the washing. It was a lovely bright blowy day and so nice to see the washing in the sun. I fed the birds and put my jacket on so I could work in the garden while I listened to the Archers omnibus. H finished his ride while I was still out there, made us both a coffee and tapped on the window to call me in. I didn’t bother to go out again till 2 o’clock when I got the washing in, ironed it and popped it in the airing cupboard. As soon as that was done I got ready fo r a ride. I did 32 miles. I was quite slow because I wasn’t really in the mood but as it’s the first of the month I wanted to make a start on my miles for the month. Hopefully we will be able to do some nice rides on the road this month. When I finished I had a bath and H made another pot of tea so we had a cup and then dinner. It was easy because I only had to heat up yesterday’s stew.  We had a message from our youngest son who was about to board his flight  ✈️ to Italy 🇮🇹! I hope he will be safe. Now I am watching dancing on ice.
