Wednesday.

I got up around 6 and H was up already and had made the tea.I cooked my eggs and poured the tea. We had a coffee and I went to empty the dishwasher only to find it had already been done! After I had washed and dressed etc I vacumed upstairs, made the bed and tidied up. At 9.30 I got ready to meet my ex work colegue and his partner. We had a nice catch up, he has a new job which he is enjoying and so has his partner. He bought a new car (not brand new) with part of his redunency money and they both seem happy. H didnt come with me because he doesnt know them, so wasnt keen to come. When I left them I popped into the garden centre and bought 2 plants for my rockery. When I got home H had fixed the bathroom door handle so now I can close the door and manage to open it again even with my poor hands. H also took the broken kettle apart to see if he could fix it but couldnt. So thats 2 jobs he did that have been waiting for ages, I told him I will have to go out more often. This afternoon we went to Lidl and bought a few things and when we got back we had a cheese roll for lunch with tomatoes, plus mine also had cucumber. We had a coffee and later H had a beer. We watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner. Chilli con carni, followed by peaches and cream. Last evening we were expecting to get our weekly phone call from our youngest son but when he called it was simply to tell us he has covid! His throat was so sore he didnt want to speak, he also had a headache and a temperature.

Tuesday

I got up at 5.25, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had eggs for breakfast. H came down at 6 I poured his tea after that we had a coffee. I read my book till the washing was done, finished my chapter and hung the washing out. The wind was horribly strong again and its causing dammage in my garden. Several tall things have been blown over so I spent around an hour and a half steaking things and tieing them up.H got the bikes and at 9.30 we got ready and went for a short ride. (15 and a bit miles). When we got home I but the bikes away and made us a coffee. I toasted H the last hot cross bun and I had a banana. My washing is lovely and dry again. This morning I had a text from one of my old workmates sugesting we meet for coffee tomorrow so I wont be going out on my bike. I havent seen him since the beginning of April and he has a new job so it will be nice to catch up. His partner also has a new job, hers is part time and his is shifts so its hard for them to get time off together.

Monday.

H was up first again and had made the tea. I poured and cooked my 2 eggs. After breakfast we had a coffee and H got our bikes out. T wind is really strong again. I did a bit of housework and at 9.30 we got ready to go out. We rode all off road again and it was great, 24 and a bit miles. There was one hairy moment, we were coming down a massive hill by the shooting school,we were flying down and there was a huge tree athat had been felled by the wind right across the track! We jammed our breaks on and did a massive skid in all the loose leaves and just managed to pull up. It was too high to lift hubbys heavy bike over so we had to climb up and over where it had snapped off. When we got home we had a coffee and a toasted hot cross bun. We put the bikes away and when I checked my ride I have ridden over 400 miles this month so I am happy, and its not over yet so I might do more. We watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner. Chicken curry.

Sunday

Yet another lovely day. We got up at 5.40, H made a pot of tea while I put on a load of washing. We had our breakfast and then a small coffee. I sat and finished my book and hung out the washing. We decided to have a day off from cycling as we have been out 3 days in a row, I was pleased to give my bottom a rest. After I had washed and dressed I went out front to work on the brick weave. I didnt do much because the wind was so strong it kept blowing the weed away and on to our neighbours drive. We had an instant coffee and a hot cross bun and I dusted the hall, dining room and conservatory. I polished the dining table and tidied up. For lunch we had cheese on toast and a shandy. After lunch we sat in the garden, the sun was hot but the wind was blowing a gale so we gave up in the end, came in and watched a cycle race. When it was over we had a shower and I cooked dinner. We had sticky ribs with buttered new potatoes, carrots and cauliflower. As we didnt cycle today we decided to go tomorrow but the forecast is for rain! So we will wait and see what its like.

Saturday

I got up at 5.30 put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had 2 eggs for my breakfast.H got up at 8 and as soon as he had eaten his toast he got our bikes out of the garage. I hung the washing out when it was done and emptied the dishwasher. As soon as that was done I washed and dressed in my cycle gear ready to meet our daughter and son in law on the track to go for a bike ride. We had a nice ride to Reepham station for coffees and then home via the track.We did 23 miles but the other 2 rode 10 miles further. We saw 2 buzzards and a whole herd of wild deer which made our day. When we got home we put the bikes away and had coffee and a bag of crisps. I got my washing in, sorted all the ironing for the week and read a bit of my book. We had our baths and dinner. fish and chips.

Friday

I got up at 5.50.H was up, had made the tea and put the out. I had marmite on toast for breakfast and a cup of tea. Next after I was ready we went to Asda, for the third week in a row they had no tinned prunes so we called in at Tescos on the way home and I got 6 cans. We had a coffee and a jam and cream donut and were going out on our bikes but when I looked at H he was fast asleep in his chair. We had both had a bad night because of the heat. I sat and read till he woke up an hour and a bit later. We went for a nice short ride and when we got home we had a coffeeand a packet of crisps, also some cherries. This afternoon we did a bit of work in the garden and I sat in the sun for an hour. I made a pot of tea, we watched tipping point, had our baths, I washed my hair and cooked dinner. Quiche with potato wedges, roast bell peppers and tomatoes. I forgot to mention yesterday that when we were almost home from our ride we saw 6 very large deer, it made our day.

Thursday.

I got up at 6.35 and put on a load of washing. I weighed myself while H was pouring the tea.This week I am 135.6 , last week I was 136.0 so I am down a tiny bit. I had 2eggs for breakfast and then we had a coffee. I hung out the washing but the forecast was for thunder storms in our area. It was lovely and sunny to start wirh and H got the bikes out but it began to cloud over quite quickly. We gad planned a 40 mile ride for today but as it became more and more dull we changed our minds. So we went for an off road ride instead and it was great. We saw rardly anyone. As we rode along the cloud all dissapeared and not a drop of rain. When we got home we put the bikes away and I got us a coffee and a bacon butty each. When I had eaten mine I spent a couple of hours in the garden weeding. When I came in I made a pot of tea and we watched tipping point. I got the washing in, had a bath and cooked dinner. We had barbique chicken with potato wedges, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and peppers. Dessert was peaches and cream. Still no rain.

Wednesday

We got up at 5.45, I put on a load of washing and H made a pot of tea. We both had our breakfast and H put on a loaf of bread. I hung the washing out when it was done and vacumed all downstairs.H was sitting out in the garden so I put my shorts on and joined him. At 10 oclock I put my trousers on and went to the dentist for an x ray. They printed it off for me and I will take it to the hospital when I go next. We went straight from there to Lidl. When we came back I changed yet again and we had a coffee in the garden with a cheese sandwich. I did 2 hours of work in the garden so my garden rubbish bin is filling up fast. We each had a beer and then realised we had half a bottle of wine in the fridge so we drank that as well. I got my washing in, had a shower and cooked dinner, chilli con carni. One of our favourites.

Tuesday, eye tests!

I got up at 6.35 after a good sleep and put on a load of washing. Hubby was up and had made a pot of tea and he poured me a cup while i cooked my 2 eggs. After breakfast I hung out the washing and emptied the dishwasher and tidied the kitchen. H made us both a small coffee and then he went up and shaved while warered the beans and tomatoes. When he had finished in the bathroom I washed and dressed etc because we were going to the City for our eye tests. To cut a long story short, H got a prescription for new glasses and I have to have a cataract removed from both eyes! I should get a phone call within a week with the date of my appointment. I dont know how long the waiting list is. I have read the booklet that was given to me and its a local anaesthetic so I will be awake. They will make a tiny cut in my eye, remove the cataract and insert a plastic replacement lens!O M G ! When we got home we had an instant coffee and finished the malt loaf, toasted with butter. I sat in the garden for a while, got the washing in and made a pot of tea. we had a shower and dinner, cod mornay with peas and sweet corn. After our local news I am going up for my soaps. Tomorrow I have to go to the dentist because the hospital need x rays of my gums, I am falling to bits! Today is our great granddaughters third birthday. She is such a lovely little girl, she chats away non stop and always smiling. She loves her little brother and its so easy to see he loves her by the way he watches everything she does with a smile on his face. So happy birthday to her.

Monday

I got up at5.50, made a pot of tea and had 2 eggs for breakfast. I sat and read till son got up and then I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. We all had a coffee and got ready to go out on our bikes. It was a great ride, we saw deer, kites and buzzards. H treated us to coffee and cakes at the staticn cafe and we came the long way home. (24 miles) when we got home I got lunch, salads as usual. For dinner tonight I made a cottage pie and we had it with mushrooms and broccoli. As soon as we had eaten son packed up and went home to his place. we have all had a good weekend.

Sunday Father’s Day

No blog yesterday because I didnt really do anything,a bit of gardening between showers and cooking. Today has been better its fathers day and as we have 3 children H got 3 nice cards, malteesers, chocolate, 2 bottles of wine and a bottle of rum. After son had got up and had his breakfast, he and I cycled to our granddaughters with our great granddaughters birthday presents. Its her birthday on Tuesday but they are having a family day out then so her cake,candles and baloons etc were all brought forward to today. She will be 3. H stayed at home because our other son was coming round. we had birthday cake and drinks, played for a while and then cycled home again.As soon as we were home I got lunch,This afternoon I read a bit of my book and cooked dinner. We had roast pork, roast potatoes, sprouts, broccoli, carrots,a lovely bit of crackling and gravy. We had choc ices for pudding.

Friday even hotter!

I got up at 5.50 put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had my eggs for breakfast. At 7.30 we went to Asda for our weekly shop.When we got home I unpacked and put everything away and we had a coffee and an egg custard. I hung out the washing and then we just sat about waiting for our son to get up. He didnt arrive till 12.30 last night, there was a massive hold up on the motorway and part of it was closed. So because of all this he didnt get up till around 10. After his breakfast we all got ready to go out on our bikes. We went to Reepham to the butchers for some nice bacon. We went to the station where son treated us to drinks and cakes and then we rode home again. It was awful, so hot even the wind was hot. I felt quite ill when I got home, but I soon got over it. The temperature got to 33 degrees C here this afternoon. I had a cool bath and washed my hair while H was lighting the BBQ. Dinner was nice, chicken, ribs, sausages, corn on the cob and jacket potatoes.We all had a shandy and strawberries and cream for dessert. WE sat in the garden and the heat slowly went down a degree or two and now its 30 c.

Thursday HOT!

I got up at 5.50 and had my breakfast. I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. Next I dressed so I could go out front and clear more of my bricks. I did another 10 and it was time to get ready to go out on our bikes. We just did a short ride. 17 miles. W hen we got home we had a coffee and a bag of crisps and I went to sort my brick weave. It was so hot and the grass is hard to dig out so in the end I gave up, went in and opened a bottle of bubbly. When it cooled down a bit I cleaned the downstairs cloakroom and the kitchen. We had chilli con carnie for dinner and an ice cream. H cut the back grass which looks nice.

Wednesday, a grand day out!

I got up just after 5 because it was too hot to sleep. I put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and cooked 2 eggs for breakfast. When the washing was done I hung it out and H came down and made us a coffee. He rang the doctors this morning and managed to get an appointment for 11.05. We had planned to go to the coast today so H said we would get compleatly an drive there straight from the surgery. So I went out front and spent an hour on cleaning up my bricks.I am now over half way. The doc is getting H an appointment to ,have his lungs checked and they might change his inhalers. We were amazed and how packed Sheringham was, we struggled to find a parking space. We had fish, chips and beked beans with a mug of tea.yummy. Next we walked down to the beach and wandered along looking for fossils with no luck. I had a paddle but the tide was woming in and was up ot the chalky rocks which hurt to stand on so I couldnt go in very deep. If we had walked in the other direction it was just sandy but we wanted to look in the rock pools etc and you cant have it both ways. There was a nice breeze at the coast which made the temperature just right but we popped to Lidl on the way home and the heat on their car park was awful. When we got home I made a pot of tea and we had out showers. We were still full from dinner so all we had was a slice of malt loaf. I had mine toasted and spread with butter

Tuesday.

I got up at 6.15, put on a load of washing and had 2 eggs and a mug of tea for breakfast. H got up at 7 and had his breakfast. I hung out the washing and emptied the dishwasher. Thank goodness that awful wind has dropped quite a lot this morning, its been awful. We had decided we were going to ride to Holt today which is a forty mile round trip so the less wind the better. We left around 10 am and in Holt H bought us a coffee which we enjoyed sitting in the sun. We then did the second half of our ride. When we got home we had a cupps soup, a coffee and a slice of toasted malt loaf. I sat in the garden for a while but there was a lot of cloud about so I went out front and cleared a few more of the grassy bricks. I went in at 4. I took my washing in, all nice and dry again. We had our baths and dinner which was haddocy mornay, new potatoes and broard beans.Our youngest son rang last night and said its fathers day on Sunday so he will be home for the weekend.

Monday

I got up just before 6, stripped the bed and put on a load of washing. I had eggs for breakfast with a cup of tea. Next we had a small coffee and when the washing was done I hung it out. I took some mince out of the freezer so I can make a spaghetti bolognase for dinner tonight. H wanted to go to the walk in centre this morning to see if he could get some more pills. ! Any we parked in the forum car park and went our seperate ways.While he was going to the walk in centre I went to my bank first and then to a market stall that sells ground nut oil, next to the health food shop near Jarrolds for a jar of malt extract. I went to super drug for a few things and then to M and S for the other half of my tankini. I was just coming out of there when my phone rang and it was H saying he was on his way back to the forum. When we got home again I made us a coffee and read a chapter of my book. For lunch I had a slice of our malt loaf, changed into my shorts and went out front to carry on with my clearing up. I worked on it for 2 hours so I got a fair bit done but I still have loads more to do. Tomorrow we plan to have a long bike ride (Holt) so the garden will have to wait till Wednesday.We watched a film this afternoon instead of tipping point' had our baths and dinner which was nice.

Sunday

I got up just after 6 and put on a load of washing. H was already up and had made the tea so he poured me a cup. After I had drunk it he made the coffee. When the washing was done I hung it out. This coming week I will be working on the front of the house(gardening). Its only small but the lawn has a brick edging and its full of grass, the brickweave is weedy too and its slow work cleaning it all up. I started at 9 but only did half an hour because we were going out on our bikes at 10 when the loaf of bread H made was cooked. I went up and put my cycle gear on ready to go and suddenly realisad I hadnt had my breakfast! So I quickly fried 2 eggs and ate them. We only had a short ride because it was very windy again and I didnt need many more miles to make it up to 100 for this week. When we got home I made us a coffee and we had a bag of crisps and 4 cream crackers with cheese. H made me a malt loaf this afternoon and it looks nice. As soon as I had finished mine I went out to the front of the house again and carried on with my weeding. I did 2 hours and my back told me I had done enough so I packed away my tools and went in. I made a pot of tea and at 5 I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had fish chips and mushy peas. We each had a slice of buttered malt loaf and its really nice. I went up at 7 for countryfile.

Saturday

I got up at 6 oclock after anawful nights sleep, I was far too hot. Then when I got up I had a stomach upset so I felt really rough! Yesterday I told H it was his turn to decide what our ride will be and just my luck, he decided to do one of our long hilly rides. The wind was blowing a gale too. My plan for this afternoon was to work in the front of the house, cleaning the paving, weeding etc, while our neighboures are away but all I did was lay in the back garden till it was time for my bath and dinner. We rode 37.6 miles.

Friday

H woke me up at 6.15 because it was shopping day. We had our breakfast and I put on a load of washing. As soon as I had done I washed and dressed so I could go to Asda.I went on my own for a change. When I came out of Asda I went to M and S food for a few nice things. When I got home I unpacked and put everything away and while H was making the coffee I hung out the washing. Next I changed into my dhorts and worked in the garden. We had an instant coffee at 10.30 and at 12.30 I want in and prepared lunch. Cheese rolls with tomatoes ( and cucumber for me), a packet of crisps and H had a glass of beer.I went back out and carried on gardening. For dinner we had an M and S chicken, ham and leek pie with new potatoes, carrots and broard beans, strawberries and cream for dessert. I think we are going out on our bikes tomorrow.

Thursday.

I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing. I had eggs and peppers for breakfast with a mug of tea. H got up at 7.15. We had a small coffee and I hung out the washing and emptied the dish washer. I started a new book and read 3 chapters when H said he had got my bike out of the garage. He was using his best bike. We got ready and went for a ride. It was lovely, quite windy and as we did a full circle we had head, side and tail wind in equal measures. We did just over 28 miles, we went to Aylsham station where we had a coffee and shared a huge Norfolk shortcake. The station cafe was packed, a coach of O A Ps had just arrived! They were taking the steam train to Wroxham for lunch. When we got home I had a coffee and a packet of crisps and put my bike away. H had a hot chocolate, a packet of crisps and a beer. We sat in the garden in the sun for an hour and then H went in to watch the bike race and I pruned some of my shrubs, got the washing in and PUT it all away. We watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner, chineese chicken curry and a choc ice for pud. This morning was my weigh in day. Since I weighed last Thursday I have done 97 miles on my bike, had salads or nothing for lunch. I gained 1.2 pounds! I am really annoyed! (137.2 lbs)

Wednesday

I got up at 6.30 and H had just made the tea. We both had our usual breakfasts. It was pouring with rain again! I vacumed upstairs and down and cleaned the kitchen. Next I swept the bricks at the front of the house which were covered in saw dust and kept getting brought indoors on the bottom of our shoes. At midday we went to Lidl for a few bits and pieces. When we got home the sun was out and it was 23 degrees C. I said I would just get lunch and we could sit in the garden so H put our chairs out. By the time I had made 2 cheese rolls and 2 shandys it was pouring again and our chairs are were running with water. We gave up on sunning ourselves and watched a cycle race. (I read my book) We watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner. Sausages, eggs, spring green and garlic flat bread.

Tuesday.

I got up at 5.50 and I was the first one up. H was up next and then son. I put on a load of washing andd hung out yesterdays. As soon as son had eaten his breakfast he left to go to work. I hung out my second load and we had a coffee. I emptied the dishwasher, put everything away and started a new book. H got the bikes out of the garage. We got ready and went out for a ride. It was lovely, just over 30 miles. When we got home I put the bikes away and H made the coffee. The sun was still out when we got home so I put my shorts on and sat in the sun. When it was nearly time for tipping point I got the washing in, all nice and dry.I made a pot of tea, we watched tipping point, had out baths and then dinner. Cheese and onion quiche with a side salad. We got a message from son who has arrived back at his after his days work. Over the bank holiday we played crib 3 evenings and I won 2/1.

Monday.

I got up at 6.45, made a pot of tea and H cut me off a slice of bread so I could have marmite on toast for breakfast. I also put on a load of washing. When our son got up we all had a coffee. We had to have instant coffee because we have run out of coffee pods! I sat and read for ages because son is leaving tomorrow and wants to borrow the book I am reading.I emptied the dish washer, put everything away. Next I vacumed all downstairs swept and dusted the stairs and then swept the kitchen and toilet. Our other son came round so he could catch up with his brother and brought us a jar of honey made by their bees. Its yummy. I prepared sons salad and made H a chicken sandwich. At 2.45 H took me down to the surgery because it was my 6 monthly blood test, we were straight in and out and when we got home son went off to the climbing centre. We watched tipping point, had our bathes and I cooked dinner. We had salmon with mushtooms, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli and a jacket potato. I have now finished the book.

Sunday.

I got up at 6.30 and made a pot of tea. When H came down an hour and a half later he cut me off a slice of bread and I had toast and marmite for breakfast. I just sat and read till son got up at 9 when we had a coffee. It was really pouring with rain when I got up but it only lasted an hour, I dont know when it started. It was very dull so we decided to just go for a short ride. Before we left our other son rang and he is coming to see us tomorrow. We had a ride through our local woods which was quite a boggy ride but fun. It was far enough for us to get our exersize. When we got home I got son his salad and H made us a hot chocolate. I put the chicken in the ovenand prepared the veg. We had our baths, a glass of wine and dinner. Roast chicken, roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli with onion gravy. We got an invite to a celebration of a wedding today, its in September. Its over 3 years since our last wedding so I am looking forward to it.

Saturday

I got up at 7.25 after H treated me to a cup of tea in bed. I had toast and marmite for breakfast. I put on a load of washing and when it was done i hung it out and put on another load.I hung that out as well but it hadnt been out long when it began to rain. I rushed up the garden (as fast as an 83 year old can rush) and got all the first load first because that lot was almost dry, and then I got in the rest. When it brightened up again I just hung out the second load. I got son a salad for lunch and he went to the climbing centre for the afternoon. H and I did nothing much, had our baths and I made a pot of tea.Dinner was rib eye steaks with potato wedges, cauliflower, broccoli and a wild garlic garnish, all very nice. It was strawberries and cream.

Friday.

I got up at 6.30 and it was 12 degrees C. I had 2 eggs for breakfast with my cup of tea,( H was up and had made it.) When son got up we all had a coffee and I put my shorts on so I could sit in the sun, the wind was quite chilly. Son got the bikes out of the garage and said we were going out at 11 am. At 10.30 I went in and changed into my cycle gear. We had decided to do a road ride with H on his racing bike. (no motor) Son and I on our mountain bikes, its the only bike i have. We did over 31 miles and it was nice, the roads were quite quiet, we had expected more traffic. As soon as we were home I got lunch and then H and I changed and went to give our granddaughter her birthday card and present. It was lovely in their garden, its a real sun trap. We enjoyed birthday cake with a pimms. (or 2). Our great grand children are an absolute joy and a laugh a minuite. When we got home I put the duck in the oven and prepared the veg.

Thursday Her Majesty the Queen’s platinum jubilee

I got up at 6.45 H was up and had his breakfast so I poured myself a cup of tea and had my breakfast. I put on a load of washing and when it was done I hung it out. The sun was shining so I put my shorts on and sat in the garden. We got the bikes out of the garage and H cleaned the chains etc and then joined me sitting in the sun till son got up at 9.30. He had his breakfast, we all had a coffee and then got ready to go out on our bikes. It was a nice ride (24 miles) with a stop for coffee and cakes.It was lunch time when we got home so salad for son and crispe and beer for H. We put the bikes away and sat in the sun again till it was time for our baths and dinner, BBQ. We had chicken, ribs, sausages, corn on the cob, potatoes and fried onions. The men had hot bananas and maple syrup for pud. Tomorrow we are going for another ride.

Wednesday 1st of June.

I got up st 6.30, put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea. I had eggs for breakfast and when the washing was done I hung it out. I did a bit of clearing up and vacumed downstairs. We had a small coffee and H got the bikes out of the garage. At 9.30 we got ready to go out on our bikes. Our plan was to bike to Aylsham on the road then get on the track and bike to Reepham butchers and then home. But we saw so many huge puddles on our way round and so many black clouds hanging about i sugested we bought our meat in Aylsham and bike straight home. We passed through a few showers and had to shelter under a tree at one point. 24and a bit miles, a nice start to June. When we got home we had a coffee changed and went to Lidl and Tesco. I dont think there had been any rain here because my washing was dry. I made a pot of tea and we watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner. Chilli con carni. The bank holiday starts here !
