Bank holiday Monday

I got up at 6.27 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and H got the bikes out of the garage. We had a cup of tea and also a small cup of proper coffee. I hung the washing out, tidied the kitchen and vacumed downstairs before I read some of my book. At 9.45 H said we should get ready to go out on our bikes I went to clean my teeth and suddenly realised I had not had and breakfast! I quickly had a couple of ryvita with butter and marmite and also a banana. We had a nice ride but I had a lot of trouble with my gears, I couldnt get on to my small ring so it was really hard work going up and over the N D R bridge and the hill into Reepham from Whitwell station. On the way home we saw out grandson and his partner out on their bikes. When we got home we had a coffee and then soup for lunch followed by a slice of fruit cake. I got all my washing dry again, I picked 60 tomatoes and made a pot of tea. I had a bath and then made fish and chips for our evening meal. I have to work tomorrow.

He left home at 7.15 and when he left I had my breakfast and hung out yesterdays washing. I emptied the dishwasher and made the bed. I dressed and went outside to do a bit of gardening. I came in at 10 and made myself a coffee and hard boiled 2 eggs fot lunch. I went back to do a bit more gardening and no sooner had I picked up my trowl when H came thtough the gate. He had done over 60 miles, over 70%in a head wind and his average was 18.8 mph. I made him a coffee and we had cheese, lettuce and egg rolls for lunch with mayo and tomatoes followed by a slice of fruit cake. He was pleased with his ride. We watched the tour de france with a glass of wine and when it was over I got the washing in, made a pot of tea and cooked dinner. we had pasta because i thought it would be good for H after his ride. When the washing was done I went to hang it out, I had 2 things on the line and it began to rain so i got them in again and its been raining ever since. When I finished I had a shower and got lunch, we had cheese on toast a banans and a cup of coffee. H got his best bike out, dusted it and pumped up the tyres ready for his big ride tomorrow. Friday

I got up at around 7 20 and put on a load of washing. Then i went into the kitcten and H was up, had made the tea and had his breakfast. He said hi and I tried to reply but had forgotten my mouth was stuck up and i couldnt speak. No 2 son bought me theese 'mouth plasters'which are somehow supposed to help lower blood pressure! The really strange thing is they somehow seem to work. when I used the first one Icouldnt manage to keep it on all night but each night it got better and now i dont know i have them on! We had a coffee and when the washing was done i hung it out. I cleaned my leg up and decided not to cover it and give it a chance to dry. The bruise is now up to my knee and down to my ankle. When H went up to turbo I had my breakbast which i ate sitting in the conservatory, the temperature was perfect in there so i put my leg up on a cushion and read my book till H finished his ride. We has soup for lunch and a banana. At 2 oclock I got the washing in and thought I should exersize my legso H set the turbo uo for me and i just rode 12.5 miles. It was hard work! When I finished we had a glass of wine. We watched tipping point and then had our baths and Ihad mine with my leg hanging over the edge so I didnt get it wet, it worked well and my shin is looking much better now its drying up. For dinner we had salmon with jacket potatoes and mushy peas.

Nightmare day.

I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I packed my cheese and tomatoes for my break, hung out yesterdays washing and also todays when it was done. I dressed, made the bed and went to work. First i had to pick the tomatoes, it was nice and calm and the sun wasnt out which is always nice when I have to work in there. Well I had picked the first tray and started on the second but there are some tomatoes that are ripening so high up the plants that i cant reach them. I found a sturdy crate that would be able to hold my weight and began climb onto it, one foot on it tipped so i slid off and the crate rammed down on my other leg so i now have a black shin with a couple of lumps on as big as turkey eggs and a five and a half inch cut down the middle! Its really painful at the moment and I am writing this laying on the bedwith my leg up on a pillow and an ice pack on my shin. I am feeling sorry for myself. H made me a coffee when i got home and I sat all afternoon with my leg up, we watched tipping point, had a bath and then dinner, chicken curry followed by strawberries and cream. After I had had my leg cleaned up a bit at work I carried on, I had to pick tomatoes till break then pick 22 bunches of radishes,20 golden beetroot, ( Andrew joined me), 24 bunches of carrots and 48 bunches of purple carrots, and 54 bunches of beetroot. Andrew then went for his lunch and I spent the last half an hour back in the greenhouse picking tomatoes. I got my washing in, all nice and dry.Idont have to work again till Tuesday

Wednesday

I got up at 5.36 and put on a load of washing. I had my breakfast and packed my lunch which was a tomato, a slice of cheese and a banana. After i had dressed, cleaned my teeth, made the bed etc I sat and read my book till it was time for me to go to work. The boos said it was too windy for me to pick the tomatoes in the glasshouse because of the strong wind so i had to pick carrots. I had to have 72 bunches and I had to dig them all up. Next it was 60 bunches of beetroot, Andrew joined me after i had done about half and when we finished it was 9.55 so time for break. As it was so windy I was allowed to go down to the yard and sit in the shed with my drink so I could get out of the wind for a few minuits. After break I had to walk back up the field and pick 15 bunches of radishes and another 120 bunches of carrots. The ground was hard, so digging was hard work.I had some time left so I went to my weeding job and did that till home time. When I left off I drove to our daughters to collect our weekly shopping. Tescos had their money off wine this week so we had 6 bottles, 3 red and 3 white. My wine rack looks nice. When I got home H made me a coffee while I unpacked and put everything away. I watered my tomatoes and tied some up that had fallen over in last nights wind. When I came in I made a pot of tea. We watched tipping point, I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had quiche with potato wedges and roast tomatoes. It was strawberries and cream for dessert. I have to work again tomorrow.

Tuesday

I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing. Imade a pot of tea and we had our breakfast. Next we had a coffee and sat and watched tv. When the washing was done I took it out of the machine but I couldnt hang it out because it was raining. I am dissapointed with the amount of rain we have had I thought we were going to get loads but most of the time it was just an annoying drizzle. We had a cup of instant coffee and I cleared up the conservatory then sat in there and read my book. For our lunch we had a cheese and beetroot sandwich with tomatoes on the side washed down with a strawberry milk shake. I have more or less done nothing all day, its wet and VERY windy so we didnt want to go out. We watched tipping point, each had a shower and i cooked dinner. We had fish cakes with potato wrdges, mushrooms and mushy peas, yogurt for dessert. Tomorrow I have to go to work again.

Sunday

Igot up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing. H got up at the same time and we had our breakfast. He had toast and I had eggs. Ihung the washing out when it was done and H got ready for a turbo ride.I just sat and read my book till our son came down. The plan for today was for him and me to do an off road ride that we havent done for years. Well I was quite worried because its a hard ride and we dont know how overgrown it will be. I said I was worried about it and son didnt mind, he said we would rise elswhere. I said i will do it next time he is home when I havent ridden my bike the day before. H said they can go and ride it tomorrow when I am at work. Thats great because they will be able to see what condition its in. It passes through a farmyard, up Ringland hills and its all hard work so I hope I can still manage it. Our ride was lovely, we went to Heydon and had an iced coffee. Son also had a slice of cake which Itasted and it was yummy. Our ride was almost 25 miles off and on road. At one point we came across a huge branch of an oak tree which had fallen right across the track. It wasnt there when we did that bit yesterday. There was a man there sawing it up, son managed to lift our bikes over it so we could carry on. On the way back, when we got to a bridge crossing a river, there were 2 men fishing with magnets! We asked what they were doing and they were checking the bridge, they had found several large bolts frfrom off the bridge! While we were there they found something big and heavy. We hung around to see what was coming up but it their magnets werent man enough for the job and kept slipping off so in the end we came away. When we got home we had a coffee and later a beer. For dinner we had roast leg of lamb with roast potatoes, broccoli, runner beans, carrots and gravy, with melon for dessert. I am now watching cricket highlights.

After breakfast we had a coffee and i sat and read my book till our son got up because i didnt want to disturb him. When he had finished his breakfast we all got ready to go out on our mountain bikes. We went to Reepham station where we had coffee and cakes. It was nice to see it open again, it was packed but nice to be back. When we got home son had his lunch of bacon and three eggs. H and I were still full from our huge slice of cake so didnt have any. Friday

I got up at 5.30 and i was feelng better so i had my breakfast and packed my lunch. I dressed ready to go and then read mu book till it was time to leave. First I had to pick 5 boxes of tomatoes, they are little sungold tomatoes so there are 350 plus in each box. I picked them as fast as I could becaue with the strong winds the glass was cracking and groaning, it was quite scary. When I finished Ihad to find the men and join them. They were just driving to the beetroot. We had to have 30 bunches of golden ones and when they were done then went down to wash them and have their break ans i sat on an upturned box in the middle of the field in a gale to have mine! AT ONE POINT MY LUNCH BOX BLEW AWAY!When I had done Icut 60 pieces of string because i had to pick 60 bunches of purple beetroot. Later Andy joined me but Andrew had gone to do a gardening job. when they were finished Andy left and i spent the rest of the motning weeding. Thursday 20 August 2020

Thursday

Well I should have gone to work today but i was up most of the night with a stomach upset and as we have no toilets in the middle of the field I couldnt chance going. I have been ok since atound 11 this morning so I expect I will be able to go tomorrow. I did a load of washing, hung it out, got it dry and got it in again. As it was all cycling gear it doesnt need to be ironed so its all put away. I cleaned the downstairs loo and then spent the rest of the day in the garden. I planted my bell pepper into the garden from its pot, it was hard to keep it watered enough, so hopefully it will be happy in the garden, its full of fruit. We had a cheese and ham sandwich for lunch with a bottle of beer. for dinner we had lasagne with roast tomatoes. It was very tasty.

Busy morning lazy afternoon

Igot up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. H got up an hour later, we got ready and went to Asda for petrol bacause we were nearly out. Its the lowest our tank has been since we had the car. It cost him £60. while he was doing that I went to the chemist for his prescription and couldnt resist looking at the childrens clothing. I bought a play suit for our great granddaughter, i hope it fits. From there we went to our butchers in Hevingham because no2 son rang last night and said he is coming home for the weekend. As soon as we got home H made us a coffee and got our bikes out of the garage while I sorted out the meat and put it all in the freezer and hung out the washing. Next we got ready and went out on our bikes, we had to have a short ride because we had to be home when our daughter rang to say our shopping was waiting to be collected. We did 17 miles off road and it was the fastest we have done it this year. As soon as we got home we had s shower and a cheese and ham sandwich with mustard and tomatoes washed down with a cup of coffee. we drove round to get our groceries and saw our daughter and granddaughter which is always nice. When we got back I put the shopping away and got the washing in. I sat and read my magazine and then carried on reading my book. My daughter has lent me a whole bag full of books so i dont have to ration myself to a few chapters a day anymore. For dinner we had chicken with potatoes, corn on the cob,and runner beans. Strawberries and cream for dessert, yum.Tomorrow I have to go to work.

I read a few chapters of my booh and at 9.30 we got ready to go out on our bikes. We thought we would give the track a try but fully expected it to be too wet and muddy. Well much to our suprise it was in perfect condition! So we did our whole ride off road. We went to Whitwell station, round the back of Reepham high schooland turned left to the Reepham road, across it into the woods and then back along the track including the loop. It was 23.5 miles. After I had dressed a d made the bed I relaxed with my book till it was time to go. I had to pick 29 bunches of radishes, 21 bunches of carrots and 30 bunches of beetroot. Both the men joined me at one point and went away as soon as my first list was done, leaving me with another list. I had my break and then picked 23 bunches of spring onions and 60 bunches of carrots. When they were done i spent he rest of the morning weeding. First I wed the rest of the celeriac. I was working away and all of a sudden as i pulled a weed i felt something warm touch my hand and it was a little leverit! It crept away further along the row so i hope its mother will be able to find it when its feeding time. When i got home i had a coffee and a coconut bun then i picked our tomatoes. I sat and read my book till it was almost time for tipping point when i made a pot of tea. We had our baths and then dinner. It was cod with potatoes, runner beans and carrots, it was nice. I suffer from high blood pressure and have been on tablets for years but lately they have been upsetting my stomach. As i dont want to visit the doctors at the moment i decided to stop taking them, take my B P every day and if it begins to rise take a pill. well I told my son sll this, he looked into it and read about 'mouth plasters' which are supposed to reduce blood pressure! So he bought me some. What rubbish i thought, how can sticking your lips together halp your B P. I thought it would go up if anything with the panic of sleeping with my mouth sealed up. Well much to my suprise it seems to be working! Strange but true. I have just taken it and its 119 over 76. Long may it last.No more work till Thursday.

Sunday 16 August 2020

A very disappointing day

i had a good nights sleep and didnt get up till 7 oclock. I put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea. I had my usual breakfast of eggs and courgettes and checked my phone to see when our promiced rain was coming. The goal post kept moving through the day! Our garden is so dry and every day they say it will rain but it never does.We had a coffee and H got ready to ride 100k on the turbo trainer. We decided not to go out for a road ride because of the promised rain, its no fun riding in the wet. When H went upstairs I made some coconut and choc chip buns and a loaf of bread. I took some chicken out of the freezer for dinner tonight and went outside to clear up rubbish in the garden. Still no rain. When H finished his ride i got us both a coffee and fried us a pan of tomatoes for lunch. It went a bit dark so i got my washing in but I need not have bothered because it didnt rain. I sat and read a book, had a bath and cooked dinner. We had chicken with runner beans and potatoes. Our yesterdays outing was nice, a BBQ at hubbys brother and his wife. Hs sister and her husband were there as well. The food was good snd it was nice to catch up with all the news. They have a lovely home, a barn conversion. Tomorrow i have to work. I planned to watch the cricket highlights at 7 pm but there was only an hour of play today they just said on the news because rain stopped play!

Happy Saturday (16th)

THE REASON I AM HAPPY IS BECAUSE MY BLOG PAGE IS BACK. Its been ages since i have been able to write anything. However, nothing has changed, i am still working 3 daya a week, we are still well as far as we know. We have had some nice bike rides and seen loads of wildlife. One of the highlights was a cycle ride with H riding on the tandem. Irefuse to go on the back because i tried it when he made it and didnt like it so i know i will like it even less now i am so much older. Luckily his Spanish tea her was happy to give it a try and hhe enjoyed it. We went to Heydon village, she had not been before and thought it was a wonderful place. It was a lovely sunny day and we saton the village green with sn iced coffee from the cafe.It was 22.5 miles so she did well for her fitst ride. This afternoon we are going to a BBQ at H's brothers, they live in the ostlers cottage at Hedenham Hall and we have never been before so i am looking forward to it, its domething s bit different. I didnt want to go out on my bike today so H has just done 50km upstairs.
