New Year’s Eve
I got up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and waited for H to come down and we had breakfast together. We had a coffee and sat and watched an animal programme, then H went up to turbo while I vacuumed downstairs, did the ironing up to date and got ready to go with my daughter, son in law and youngest granddaughter to Horsey Gap to see the seals. When we arrived at the beach there were loads of people, each year we is more busy than the last. We walked just over 3 miles and saw loads of seals, pups and adults. It was a lovely walk with the temperature being 10 degrees and only a light wind. When we came back to the car park there was a stall selling food and drinks. We had all taken a drink with us but we all felt quite peckish after the walk so my daughter and I had a hot dog with onions while the other two had cheese burgers. When I got home H and I had a G & T which was very nice and ate a few more nuts, crisps and sweets. At 6 pm we had our dinner which was yesterday’s left over stew. We had yogurt for pudding. I am now playing scrabble with H on our phones!! I am hopeless at it and my letters are all rubbish, all ones and no vowels! I have had a lovely day.

Saturday.
I got up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing, then I just sat and read till I heard H moving about upstairs and I made a pot of tea. We had our breakfast and went shopping. I didn’t have to get much, just things like milk and jam, the most important thing was rubber gloves for me when I go to work next Wednesday. Mine had a hole in and my hands were frozen because my inner gloves were wringing wet. We unpacked as soon as we were home and had a coffee. I have just sat about for most of the day eating loads of leftovers and I feel horrible! I have made a turkey stew for dinner tonight but I don’t think I will be eating any I have such terrible heartburn. Tomorrow I am going to see the seals and their pups, it’s a nice long walk so I am looking forward to it and the next 2days I am doing a few miles on the turbo trainer. My washing wasn’t out very long, it began to rain again but it was long enough to make it smell nice like fresh air. In our area we have some huge floods and at Ringland the river has burst its banks and there are whole fields under water.

Today.
We both got up at 7, I put on a load of washing and we had our breakfast. When we first got up it was minus 2 degrees and our car was frozen up but by the my washing was done it was pouring with rain, I will have to tumble it. We had a coffee and soon started on the nibbles. I have been eating rubbish all day. The sooner it’s all gone the better. H went up to turbo and when he had done we got ready and went to visit his brother in the nursing home. He seems ok,had eaten his first course and his apple pie and custard arrived and he tucked into that. He asked H to pass him his bowl of nuts and still has the strength in his hands to crack hazel nuts and walnuts. He was a bit tearful when we left but we will see him again on Tuesday. When we got back we had a G &T and we were back on the nibbles.
Yesterday !!!
I am getting very lax with my blogs! Yesterday I was up at 6.40and put on a load of washing. I put the wet washing I had from the day before into the tumble drier. I had breakfast and made the bed. When the sun came up it was a lovely day, but Very cold and windy. I hung out the washing and we popped to the shop for a few bits and pieces. While we were out we had a look round IKEA. We had a turkey sandwich for lunch, just for a change !!! It’s a good job we like it! In the afternoon our daughter, son in law and youngest granddaughter all came round to tea. When we were all furnished with drinks we played a game of scrabble. H won.☹️ After tea we played another, Daugter won. I was telling her how I had won both sets of crib I played with her brother and she says she would like to learn how to play the game, so when we go to hers I will take my pegging board with me. More drinks and a cup of tea and it was time for them to leave. They were too full to have a slice of my M&S chocolate tart with edible glitter so they each took a slice home with them, H and I had a slice after they left and it’s delicious especially with a drop of squirty cream on top after H had gone to bed I did a bit of clearing up,mainly by eating things and throwing the packets away. I will clear a few more things up the same way today. My washing was nice and dry when I got it in, we are lucky living at the top of a small hill, it was in full sun and always gets a good blow.

Back to work. I
I was up at. 5.25, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed 2 tomato sandwiches and a bottle of water, made my bed, dressed and went to work. The weather was really dreadful, all 3 of us had to trim leeks and the state of the field was unbelievable, we were constantly stuck in the mud. We went down at 10 o’clock, I walked down to warm myself up. When I got to the yard, the boss said I could go home if I wanted. Well he didn’t have to tell me twice, I was in the shed, coat, plastic trousers, gloves and wellies off, shoes on and I was in my car and engine on before the tractor had entered the yard. I waved a quick goodbye, and shouted ‘happy new year’ out of the window before my boss could change his mind. When I got home my son and husband were so pleased to see me, it made my day. I ate my sandwiches for my lunch I made H a bacon butty and son an omelette. This afternoon our other son and his wife came round to tea. They both had a ride on H’s turbo trainer, just trying it out. We had a nice tea, turkey, ham, pork pies, salad etc etc. They left around 7pm and no2 son got ready to drive back to London. When he was ready to leave he found his windscreen had frozen over, it’s turned so cold. I am now going to watch Little Women, it was my favourite book when I was a little girl, that and Black Beauty.

Boxing Day. .
I got up at 7 and for once didn’t have a load of washing. I had my breakfast and then a coffee. I sat and read till our son came down and then I sat about a bit more. When he had finished his breakfast he and I got ready to go out on our bikes. It was 3 degrees and a blowing a gale. We had a lot of rain in the night and the track was very sticky. We just went to Whitwell station where we had a coffee and came back again. Neither of us had a mudguard and by the time we got back we were both filthy. The bikes had to be hosed down but we had had our exercise. I got lunch, H had a turkey sandwich and son had a salad. I just had a coffee and got ready to go to the nursing home to visit my brother in law. We were his only visitors so we stayed longer than usual. When we got back we had a glass of wine (and then another) and I cooked dinner. We had fillet steak, mushrooms and chips. The steak was so tender you didn’t really need.a knife. After that I went up to watch tv. I have to work tomorrow ☹️. I forgot to say that on Saturday son and I played cribbage, he won the first game, I won the second and then, oh joy, I won the third!!!, it’s ages since I have won 3, 2.

It’s Christmas 🎄
I got up at 6am and turned on the oven. We had our breakfast and when our son came down we opened all our presents. I put my washing on as usual and hung it out when it was done. I popped upstairs and exercised for 45 minutes and then had a coffee. Our other son and his wife came round and we also spoke to the rest of our family. It smelled lovely in the kitchen with the turkey and stuffing in the oven. We had drinks and I think I have been eating all day! At 3 pm son and I went for a walk so when we got back we had enough room for more grub!! We watched the new Spider-Man film in 3D. And then I went upstairs to watch coronation street. I got my washing dry. Our turkey is delicious and I have loads left. H had a turkey sandwich for tea and son had a turkey salad. It’s been a really nice day and I hope it’s been as good for everyone.

Christmas Eve.
I was up at 6.35 this morning and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and waited for H to bet up and we had our breakfast. (Toast) I hung my washing out, the first time for ages, I was bright and windy, the temperature was 9 degrees. We had a coffee and I made a loaf of bread. At 10 m I put my cycle shorts and vest on and went on the turbo for an hour and a quarter (21.6 miles) . As soon as I was done I had a shower and H had a ride while no 2 son went for a run. My loaf of bread turned out nice. H and I had cheese on toast for lunch while son had salad again. At 2.15 all3 of us got ready and went round to our eldest granddaughters and her partner for Christmas drinks and nibbles. She had made mulled wine which was nice nd also made her own jelly babies, they were yummy. Our daughter, son in law, grandson, his partner, youngest granddaughter and their dog were all there too. We all exchanged gifts and cards and at 4 pm it was time to leave. When we got home H made a pot of tea and when it was brewed I poured us all a cup. We are all quite full so I am not cooking dinner till 7 or 7.30. All we are having is sausage, egg chips and peas.. To the few people who read my blog I would like to say I wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Saturday. ( Christmas eves eve) a
I got up at 5.45 and had my breakfast. At 6.20 I woke H up because we had to go to collect our Christmas turkey and other meat, sausages etc. I would have gone on my own but he wanted to come. When we got back we had a coffee and he went up for a ride on his turbo. He was up there for ages and I thought he must be doing miles but it turned out the program was playing up and he hadn’t done anything. No 2 son spent ages trying to sort it out and finally he managed to do a ride thank goodness. ( he would have been miserable if it hadn’t worked.) For lunch H had a bacon and ketchup sandwich while son and I had a salad. I have had a very lazy day, I was going to have a session on the bike but by the time H had finished I couldn’t be bothered. Our son went to the climbing centre for the afternoon and arrived home at 7.20 pm. I had cooked dinner which was yum. Liver and bacon casserole which also contained peas and mushrooms. With it we had mashed potato, sprouts and carrots. Pineapple for pudding and a glass of wine. Tomorrow we are going to our granddaughters for Christmas drinks and nibbles so I am looking forward to that. Last year they ha d only just moved into their new home and they had so much work to do on it but just one year they have done so much and I am looking forw a rd to seeing it.

Friday 22 nd.
H woke me up at 6.20 so I went down, put on a load of washing and had a slice of toast and a cup of tea for my breakfast. As soon as I had done I dressed etc and we went to Asda. It was only 7.06 when we arrived and the car park was packed we had a job to find a space. H sat in the car while I shopped.
( he studied Spanish) . It was chaos in the shop, with people stacking shelves, personal shoppers picking massive orders on huge trolleys and all the other people. When we got home we unpacked and put everything away, then we had a welcome cup of coffee. I did a bit of housework, put the first load of washing into the tumble dryer and put on a second load. I did all my ironing which took ages but it didn’t give me backache. As soon as that was done we went to the nursing home to visit Philip but when we arrived he was in a day room on another floor watching a pantomime! We joined him for the end of it. After that it was his lunchtime so we left, we will go again in a couple of days. When we got home we had a pate’ sandwich and an instant coffee. Our no2 son arrived home so I made him a salad for lunch and later he and I went for a walk. We walked in a local wood and it was very nice, I love to get some fresh air. We had a glass of wine and I cooked dinner. We had gammon steaks, mushrooms, peas and chips. I love my homemade chips. It was pineapple for pudding and now I am watching my soaps.

Thursday.
I didn’t blog yesterday because I felt so unwell. I had the worst headache ever and it was so bad I thought I was going to be sick. I was at work and would have left off but I had arranged to meet my sister in law when I left off to exchange presents. When I got home I had a cup of tea and then a bath and went to bed, I was in bed before 5.30! I had nothing to eat so I must have felt bad!!! I got up at 5.35 this morning so I had been in bed for over 12 hours! I still have a headache but nothing anywhere near as bad as it was. My boss and the 2 men were shocked when I walked into work this morning, they weren’t expecting me. I picked 2 sacks of sprouts, 10 dozen bunches of carrots and 7 boxes of leeks, the men joined me. We went to the yard to wash and pack everything and the boss said I could go home, it was only 2,27. So now no more work till after Christmas. For dinner tonight we are having fish pie with cabbage and carrots.

Tuesday.
I got up at 6.15 and had my breakfast. We had a coffee then I made the bed and vacuumed upstairs. H had a ride on his turbo trainer and I cleared some of the leaves up in the garden. We had a cheese sandwich for lunch with a coffee and then we got ready to go to the nursing home to visit H’s brother. We hadn’t been there very long when two nurses came in and asked Phil if he would like to go to the day room to play bingo. He said yes he would love to. We were invited to play as well put we aren’t bingo players so we declined. As we were back a lot earlier than we expected I put my cycle shorts on and had a little ride on Zwift. ( miles in 47 minutes) a lot slower than I usually do but I just wanted a steady ride. It’s hard to go steady when other cyclists keep passing you. I had to ride with my head down to keep it slow. I did 2 laps of some course. I had a shower when I finished then a glass of wine. For dinner I made a chicken stew which was very nice and the best bit is that there is enough left over for us both have it again tomorrow. It will save me having to cook after a hard day at work. I can’t believe is less than a week to Christmas!!!!

Monday.
I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing and had a slice of toast for breakfast with a mug of tea. I packed 2 corned beef sandwiches with brown sauce for my lunch and also a flask of bovril and a bottle of water. I made the bed, dressed, sorted my bag and went to work. As soon as the boss saw me he said he wouldn’t have me in tomorrow because it was going to be foggy and freezing so it wouldn’t be nice out there for me. I had to pick 36 bunches of carrots and then I was on leeks till 12.30. We all had our lunch then washed and packed the leeks. When we had finished there was nothing else for me to do so I came home (2.30). When I arrived back my house was empty! H was out on his bike, I got the washing in( still wet) and made a pot of tea. He was surprised to see me when he got back. We had a bath and I cooked dinner. We had cod with new potatoes, leeks, carrots and cabbage. I have to go to work again on Wednesday, I hope we are a bit more busy then and I can work a full day.

Saturday.
I got up and put on a load of washing before having toast and tea for breakfast. As soon as we had done we got ready and went to Asda for our weekly shop. When we got back H went straight up to his pain cave for a bike ride and I hung out the washing, put all my shopping away and then I decorated my Christmas cake which I iced yesterday. I am pleased with the result but it took me ages. When H had finished his ride he had a shower and we had our lunch, a mini pizza each and a coffee. When we had done I got my washing in and we went to visit H’s brother who has left hospital and is now in a nursing home. He was sitting in a chair in the day room and had just finished his lunch. His memory is getting much worse and he doesn’t have much to say. I took him some grapes 🍇 and even though he had just eaten his lunch he tucked into them. Five minutes later he asked if he had had his dinner yet. I had put on a loaf of bread before we left so we had to get home to get it out when it wa s cooked. When we got back we had a cup of tea and then I went upstairs to ride for half an hour so I felt as if I had done a bit of exercise today. I tried really hard and did my fastest ride ever, 10.1 miles in 30 minutes. As soon as I had done I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had belly pork with potatoes, cabbage and potatoes and little chocolate pots for dessert all washed down with a glass of red wine. Now I an watching S C D finals.

Friday.
I got up at 5.40 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea, a bowl of porridge and had my breakfast. We had a coffee and I hung the washing out. It hadn’t been out long when the sky went black so I hurried back up the garden and brought it all in again. H went up to turbo and while he was there I iced the Christmas cake. When he was done I put my cycle shorts and vest on and had a ride myself. I rode for an hour and did 18.6 miles. As soon as I had done we both had a bath and then poached eggs on toast for lunch with a coffee. This afternoon we went round to see our daughter, their Christmas tree and their new television. The tree looks beautiful and the tele is great. I expect H will want one soon! For dinner tonight we had Scottish salmon, mushrooms, peas and jacket potatoes. For dessert it was hot bananas in maple syrup with squirty cream.

Thursday.
This morning I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing and made a mushroom and sweet pepper omelette for my breakfast. I packed a flask of bovril and 2 cheese and tomato sandwiches, a banana and a bottle of water. I made the bed, dressed etc and went to work. I had to go with Andy and pick and bunch 12 dozen bunches of carrots and 2 dozen purple ones. We also had to have 4 boxes of loose carrots. When we started at 8am it was freezing and we had to keep banging our hands and feet to try to get them warm. By the time we had finished that lot it was past 10 so we had our coffee break. After that I had to walk back to the sprouts and pick 3 and a half sacks. That warmed me up nicely. Andy picked them and me up and we had our lunch. I then had to walk back again and trim leeks. I had done 2 boxes when Andy joined me he said we had to have 5 boxes and after that 6 boxes of parsnips and a few more loose carrots. It all took till 3.30 so we just had time to wash and pack everything before I left off at 4. When I got home I had a cup of tea and a bath, I washed my hair and cooked a spaghetti bolognese for dinner. We had stewed apple again for pudding. I have to work again on Monday.

Wednesday.
I was awake and up first so I sat and read till I heard H moving about then I made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge for breakfast,H had toast. We had a coffee and I put up the cards which arrived in the post. I did quite a bit of clearing up, made the bed and wrapped my last present. At 10.35 H went to his Spanish lesson and I changed shorts and a sun top to ride on the turbo trainer. I was still too hot and had to open the window. In the first hour I rode 18.7 miles but I carried on after that so I did 20 miles but slowed down after the hour. I had a quick shower and then made leek and potato soup for lunch. H arrived just as the soup was cooked. After we had finished lunch he had a message to say a parcel was waiting for him at the post office so we went to collect it and I treated us both to a peppermint aero. We had it with a small glass of wine when we got home. For dinner we are having fish pie with sprouts and carrots and for pudding stewed apple and cream. Tomorrow I have to work again. H’s brother has left hospital and is now in a local nursing home. We will wait till he has settled in and visit him on Friday.

Tuesday.
I was up at 6.30, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. ( toast) We had a coffee and I hung out the washing which was really hard because the pegs were all frozen on the line and by the time I had pulled them all off and pegged out the clothes my hands were frozen. I made the bed and we got ready to go to the City (again), it was better this time and I have managed to finish my presents. All I have to buy for Christmas now is loads of goodies to eat and drink. When we got back we had a slice of cheese on toast, a cup of coffee and a hot mince pie with squirty cream. After that I sat and finished writing my Christmas cards. They took ages because they had to have letters in. We had a small glass of red wine, then a bath. For dinner we had chicken curry and a cup of tea. Tomorrow I am going to have another ride on the turbo while H is out for his Spanish lesson. On Saturday morning we tipped the ice out of the bird bath onto the lawn, it came out in a solid lump and it’s still there and hasn’t melted a bit.
Monday, 11 December 2017
Monday.
I got up at 5.55, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast, I dressed, made the bed, packed 2 cheese and cucumber sandwiches, a tomato, a banana, my bottle of water and a small flask of bovril. I wrapped up nice and warm and went to work. It was a dreadful day we were all wet and cold and kept getting stuck in the mud. By 10 am I was wet through to the skin all down one side and I was frozen. The boss then gave me a new waterproof jacket and trousers . I soon dried out and felt much better. The big problem we had was getting stuck in the mud. We almost lost our wellie boots no end of times and I am exhausted with all the energy I used just trying to walk. By 3.15 we had done everything that was needed for today, we had so much rain and hail we couldn’t get a tractor onto the land so my boss said I could go home. I hope it’s dried out a bit before I have to go again on Thursday. For dinner tonight we had burgers, mushrooms, beans, eggs and broccoli.
Sunday, 10 December 2017
Sunday.
I got up at 6.40, I had been awake for a while but I thought I would hang on in bed till H had made the pot of tea. It was just right when I came down. We had our breakfast, I had porridge,
H had toast. We had a coffee and I knitted a few rows before dressing and making the bed. It’s a horrible day, pouring with rain and below freezing! Lots of places have snow and if all our rain had been snow I think we would have been snowed in!! I decided to get a bit of exercise by riding on H’s turbo. I rode for 1 hour and 32 minutes. I did 28.2 miles and managed to do 18.2 in the first hour. It’s the longest turbo ride I have done so far. I had a shower when I had done and we had our lunch, soup and a mince pie with a cup of coffee. As soon as we had finished we got ready and went to the hospital to visit H’s brother Philip. We were the only 2 visitors he had round his bed which made a nice change and we left before any others arrived. He had others before we arrived. He seems cheerful enough but he doesn’t know how ill he is. When we got home we had a mug of tea and H went up for a bike ride and I started a new book.(The Book of Dust) by Philip Pullman. I put the meat in the oven, we are having pork for a change with cabbage, carrots and potatoes. I have made some stuffing and of course, gravy. I will be watching S C D results this evening and then the last one of I’m a celebrity. Tomorrow I have to work and I won’t be looking forward to that because I have just seen the forecast!!!

Saturday.
I was up at ten past six, stripped the bed and put on a load of washing. We had our breakfast, dressed and went shopping. I spent £ 139 but I did get quite a few Christmas goodies. We had a coffee and H went straight to the pain cave to ide 57 miles. I hung out the washing, made a loaf of bread unpacked and put everything away. As soon as that was done I wrapped all the presents I have got so far.it took me ages!! When H had finished we had a coffee, a cup of soup and a hot mince pie with squirty cream. After that I finished a book I was reading and got my washing in. It wasn’t dry so I put it in the tumble dryer but it was worth hanging it out because it smells lovely, fresh air. I put the bed back together and finished putting the decorations up, also the cards we have so far. We had a glass of wine then a shower before I cooked dinner. We had chicken and garlic lattice pies with cabbage, leek and new minted potatoes. Chocolate cheesecake for pud. We washed it down with a cup of tea. Now I am watching S C S semi finals.

Friday.
We got up at 6.30 and had our breakfast then a coffee. I put on a load of washing, when it was almost done I realised I hadn’t put any washing powder or tablet in! So when it was finished I had to put it on again!! When it was finally done I hung it out, made the bed, dressed etc and we got ready to go to the City. First we went to Robinsons V W garage and booked our car in for a full service and M. O T then we carried on into the City to do some shopping. I had to go to the bank first and that wasn’t too bad H sat in an armchair and waited. Next I wanted a diary,it was busy inWHSmith and H wasn’t too happy. After that it was a bookshop and he refused to queue so I gave up on my shopping threw my list away and trailed round after him while he bought all the things he wanted. On the way home I bought fish and chips for lunch which we ate with a large glass of wine which I needed after the shopping expedition. This afternoon I wrapped the few presents I have so far and wrote a few more cards. H got tea for us tonight, we had a fried egg sandwich with another glass of wine. I shall go back to the City on my own on one of my days off next week.

This morning I over slept!! I didn’t wake up till 6 and it’s a work day! I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed 2 tomato and cucumber sandwiches and a bottle of water. After I had made my bed and dressed etc. I went to work, I didn’t have time to hang out the washing as I was up so late so I left it to H. I had to pick and bunch 48 bunches of carrots and 12 bunches of purple ones. After that I trimmed leeks till Andy took me off to pick 4 boxes of loose carrots. We went back to the yard , had our lunch then washed and packed all we had done. After that it was back to the leeks to finish off the rest of the lifted leeks.we washed them packed them, sorted the orders, tidied up and there was nothing else to do so the boss said I could go home. It was 3.45. H was surprised to see me. We had a cup of tea and a glass of wine then a bath and I cooked dinner. We had quiche, potato wedges and mushrooms. Mellon for pud. No more work for me till Monday.

Wednesday.
When I got up I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I hung the washing out when it was done and made a loaf of bread. We had a coffee and H did a bit of homework before going for his lesson. When he left I decorated the Christmas tree and wrote loads of cards. I was still writing them when he came home. We had a cheese sandwich, as soon as we had eaten them we put our coats on and went to the hospital. They are trying to get Phil into a nursing home, they have cured his infection so there is nothing more they can do for him. They said he will never be able to go back to his home because he needs 24 hour care. As soon as we got home I made a pot of tea, we had a bath and I cooked dinner. I forgot to take anything out of the freezer for dinner so we had potato wedges, peas, mushrooms, eggs and bacon and it was very nice. We had Mellon for dessert. Tomorrow I have to go to work, I have just seen the weather forecast and it’s not looking very promising. We were covered in snow last Thursday now it’s looks as if we will be blown away this Thursday!!!

I was up at 6.35 and put on my usual load of washing before having my breakfast. We had a coffee and I hung my washing out. At 10 am we got ready to go out on our bikes, we rode to Reepham along the track which was rather muddy. We all had a coffee at a nice cafe called V’s and will be going there again. We then rode home again (17.4 miles). We all had a shower and dressed ready to go to the Marsham Arms for lunch. Each of us had a different starter and we all had a different main course but only two of us had a pudding. On the way home I called in at the garden centre for some new Christmas tree lights. According to no2 son and H my old ones make a buzzing sound that gets on their nerves ( I have never heard it ) we had a cup of tea but H and I are still stuffed from lunch so I just had to get tea for our son. He had a salad with a slice of melon for dessert. It’s now 6.55 and he is getting ready to leave, the next time he comes home it will be Christmas Eve. I don’t have to work till Thursday so tomorrow after I have vacuumed etc I will trim my Christmas tree.

Saturday
I got up at 6.15, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. As soon as we were done we got ready and went shopping. When we got home we unpacked and put everything away. My washing was done but I didn’t hang it out because it was very dull. We had a coffee and our son came down. Last evening he knocked over a glass of water and it poured all over his laptop! He dried it as best as he could and put it in the airing cupboard overnight but it’s dead 💀. After he was up I went for a short ride on the turbo trainer. I was going to do just half an hour but I ended up with 14.1 miles. I did 10.2 miles in the first 10 minutes which I might have been able to do 20.4 miles an hour!!! The fastest I have ever been. For lunch H had a bacon sandwich and son and I had salad. I showered after my ride and as soon as I had finished my lunch I changed ready for my daughter who came to fetch me, our youngest granddaughter also came and we went to a bridal shop where we met the other granddaughter who was having another dress fitting. It’s now less than a year to the wedding. I have been given her veil to look after it’s beautiful. Son went climbing this afternoon so I waited for him to get back before cooking dinner. We had steak, chips, peas and mushrooms, pineapple for pudding, a little taste of my blackberry whiskey, a glass of wine and a cup of tea.

Friday. December 1st.
A year from today our granddaughter is getting married 👰 so tomorrow it will be less than a year away!! In 2 days it will be my birthday and I will be 79 ! So I will have to try to change the title of my blog. This morning I got up at 6.30, had my breakfast and then I made some flapjack and after that I made a fruit cake. I washed the kitchen and toilet floors and vacuumed downstairs. H vacuumed the stairs for me and then I did all upstairs and dusted. We had cheese sandwiches for lunch with a coffee and H took me to the butchers where I bought some shin of beef for stew tonight, some olives, smoked bacon, honey roast ham and some Binham blue cheese. The stew was very tasty 😋 we had yogurts for pud. The flapjack I made is delicious it has pistachios in tastes really great but I really struggled to get it out of the tin. Next time I will try it on kitchen paper, I had greased the tin well but it still stuck.

Thursday, first snow of the season.
I got up at 5.40 put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed 2 pate’ sandwiches with gherkins and a bottle of water for my lunch, made bed, sorted my bag etc and went to work. The boss said I could leave my bag in the shed and Andy would bring me down at coffee break and for lunch, he said I might be too cold sitting in the field today!! It was truly freezing. First we had to pick and bunch 144 bunches of carrots and 12 purple ones. We took them down, laid them all out then washed and packed them. We had our break and then I walked back and I picked one and a half sacks of sprouts and 3 boxes of leeks. It was so muddy and I struggled to walk, every step I took my feet got stuck in the mud. Andy had been harvesting kale so after I had eaten my lunch I washed and packed my leeks and his kale. He and I then went back up the field again, I walked behind the tractor to keep my feet warm. We had to do 4 boxes of parsnips, 4 boxes of loose carrots, 10 more bunches of carrots, 4 boxes of leeks and 24 pieces of celeriac. It took us till 3.20 when we went down and washed it all and there was just time for us to pack it all up before I left off. When I got home I was chilled right through but my cup of tea and soak in the bath soon warmed me up. For dinner tonight we had jacket potatoes, fish in garlic and herb sauce, and baked beans. I am so pleased I don’t have to go again tomorrow, I am off till Monday.

Wednesday.
I got up at 6.30and had porridge for breakfast with a cup of tea, I also on a load of washing. We had a coffee and I did all my ironing up to date and then dusted the dining room and lounge. I brought my Christmas cards down so I can begin writing them. It was a really awful day so just after 9am I had a bike ride on H’s turbo. I rode for an hour and a half and did 23 miles. It was hard work 😓 but I am pleased I did it. As soon as I was done H ran me a bath and when I went downstairs a pot noodle and a cup of coffee were waiting for me. As soon as I had done we got ready to go to the hospital to see Philip. Because he has been laying in bed for so long he has lost so much of his leg muscles and is very weak. He seems cheerful enough but I think he is too weak to go home. When we left the hospital we came straight home and had the other half of the bottle of wine we opened yesterday. I wrote some of my Christmas cards and then cooked dinner. It was delicious, we had sausages, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, fried potatoes and eggs. H had a yogurt and a mince pie for pud and I had an apple.

Tuesday
I got up at 6.35 and had my breakfast. When H came down he made us a coffee and I went into the garden to do a bit of weeding but it was pretty cold so I wasn’t out there long. H went up to turbo so as I needed some exercise I decided to go for a walk, I walked 3 and a bit miles and it was very nice. The sun was out all the time and there was hardly any wind. When I got home H had finished his ride so I made cheese and tomato sandwiches while H made the coffee. This afternoon we had to pop out in the car 🚘 and on our way home we called in to see our daughter as we were passing, she was just home from work. We had a lovely cup of tea and a mince pie with squirty cream. Macy ( their dog) was excited to see everyone. When we left she was going for a nice walk. As soon as we got home we had a shower and a glass of wine then I cooked dinner, fish pie with peas and mushrooms. H had hot bananas in maple syrup with squirty cream on top for pud and I had an apple.

Monday
I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed myself 2 chicken and mayo sandwiches and a bottle of water, daessed etc and got ready to go to work. It poured with rain in the night and was still raining when I left home. All the rain had made the field really muddy, I had to trim leeks and it was a right muddy mess. I sat in the field for my morning break, on an upturned box but Andy took me down to have my lunch. We washed everything we had both done up to date. I packed all the leeks and then Andy and I went back to the leeks for 3 more boxes, on to swedes for 5 boxes and when they were done we picked and trimmed 2 boxes of turnips. It was then 3.30 so we just had time to wash and packit all and it was my home time. When I got home I had a cup of tea and a bath to warm me up, then I cooked dinner. We had yesterday’s left over chicken with potatoes and peas. I now have 2 days of before I have to go again.

Sunday
I got up at 5.30 and so did H. We had our breakfast and a coffee. I then knitted while H washed up and wiped all the work tops down. He then went upstairs to the pain cave for a race on Zwift. I sew up his jumper that I have knitted and it took me 2 hours!! I hate the sewing up bit. I emptied the dishwasher and put it all away and when H had finished his ride he had a bath and I made him a coffee and a corned beef sandwich. He tried his jumper on and it looks nice. As soon as we had finished our lunch we got ready to go to the hospital to visit H’s brother Philip again. He seems a bit more comfortable today and was eating his lunch when we arrived, he also stayed awake the whole time we were there. Hopefully they are beginning to get control of his infections. When we got home I put the chicken in the oven and prepared the vegetables, had a shower and made a pot of tea. Dinner was nice, roast chicken and roast potatoes, sprouts, carrots, cauliflower and mashed potato and gravy. I have to work tomorrow so I hope it’s not too cold.

We unpacked and put everything away, had a coffee and a jam and cream do nut and I hung out the washing. Then I started knitting again, sat and did it most of the day and finished H’s jumper. I have now got to sew it all up, the bit I hate. I used to knit loades and my mum used to sew them all up for me. Now I knit less because I dread finishing them off. It will probably take me all day. We had cheese and biscuits for lunch and for dinner tonight we are having duck in port and orange sauce, garlic mushrooms, potatoes and sprouts. Apple pie and ice cream for pudding. We have been on this day for the last 2 years and it gives us a good start on our Christmas shopping. As soon as we arrived we had a festive hot chocolate drink and a mince pie. Then we began our shopping, I walked 3.2 miles which isn’t as far as we usually do but my feet were sore by the time we had finished. We went to Middletons for our lunch and our granddaughter joined us, it was a very enjoyable meal. I had pattywith chutney and sourdough bread for starters, steak with a field mushroom, tomato and fries, and Eaton mess for dessert. After this we carried on shopping. When we got back to daughters we had a very welcome cup of tea and took our boots off.! I waited till my second granddaughter got home from school so I could see her then I drove home. As soon as I arrived, H poured the wine and I sat with my feet up. We had a bath and a cup of tea then I cooked dinner, pizza and salad. I have had a really nice day and hope to be able to do it again next year.

Andrew took me down for lunch then ( I had my coffee break sitting on an upturned box in the field in the rain). Andy is on holiday this week so it’s justAndrew and I. After lunch we washed and packed everything we went back to the leeks and finished the 4 rows that the boss had lifted. When I got home our son had left so we are back to being Darby and Joan. I had a cup of tea, a bath and cooked dinner. We had fagots with mashed potato, sprouts, peas and gravy. I am now going to watch my soaps so I hope I can stay awake.

Sunday.
I got up at 6.10 and H followed me down. We had our breakfast and then a coffee. After that I sat and knitted and H was messing about with hid phone 📱 playing scrabble with our daughter. We just sat quietly until our son got up then I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away etc. At 10.30 son and I put our cycle gear on and went for a bike ride. It was lovely, wall to wall sunshine but pretty cold which didn’t matter because we were well wrapped up.H rode upstairs. When we got back I just washed my hands and sorted lunch. H had a bacon sandwich and son and I had salad. I only had a small one because this afternoon H and I went to the hospital again to see H’s brother. He had fallen over again so we asked if he could have a Zimmer frame to help him with his balance it’s the third time he has fallen in 2 weeks, twice in hospital. However he was looking better today and stayed awake the whole time we were there. As soon as we got home I started dinner. We had roast pheasant and chicken with mashed and roast potatoes, roast sweet potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli 🥦, and gravy. Pineapple for pudding. I then went upstairs to watch S C D results. We also had a mug of tea and a glass of wine. I am glad I went for a ride, it’s been 8 days since my last one! It’s work for me tomorrow.

We both got up at 6.30, I put on a load of washing and we had our breakfast. I hung the washing out and we had a coffee. I swept and washed the kitchen and toilet floors and vacuumed downstairs. At 9.30 we drove to our butchers (Clarke’s of Hevingham) with my Christmas order. I bought sausage rolls for lunch and 3 gammon steaks for tomorrow’s dinner,(no2 son is coming home tonight) they are absolutely enormous!! I also bought bacon. After that we went to collect our Christmas present to each other from the shop. While I was out I bought 3 cake baking tins for when I make my granddaughter ‘s wedding cake. The tins cost more than our wedding cake did!! When we got back home we unpacked our present and it’s great, we both like it. As soon as we had done that we had our sausage rolls and then I had to go to the hairdressers for a colour and cut, now you can’t see the join. Because of all the rushing about this morning I forgot to get any meat out of the freezer so we just had eggs and beans on toast, H had his poached and I had mine fried, we had rice pudding for dessert. We are shopping in the morning, I expect we will be home again before our son gets up.

Wednesday.
I was up at 6.30 and just sat and knitted till H came down then we had our breakfast and a coffee. I put on a load of washing and made the bed. At 8 o’clock
H got a phone call saying the hospital had rung her to say their brother Phil was very poorly and we can visit any time of the day or night, so that’s not good. His sister was in such a state and said she was not fit to drive so we arranged to pick her up, we were going this afternoon anyway so we just went a bit earlier. When we arrived their other brother was waiting on the car park for us and we all went in together. Philip was asleep when we arrived, we spoke to the nurse and she said he has an infection so they can’t get on with his small operation until that’s cleared up. His blood pressure is very low and when we left they were about to give him a blood transfusion. We only had a coffee and a mince pie for lunch. When we got home we had a cup of tea, a shower and watched tipping point, I knitted. For dinner tonight we had chicken, potatoes, broccoli and a couple of eggs. I haven’t been out on my bike since Saturday and that was only a short ride. I have to work tomorrow and on Friday I have to go to the hairdressers.

Tuesday
I didn’t get up till 7*20, H was up and had made the tea and sliced off the bread for my toast. We had our breakfast and then a coffee. I knitted for an hour and then H said we would go out and look at what we are getting each other for our Christmas present. First we went to an electrical shop and bought some new bulbs for our lounge fittings and my standard lamp. After that we went for a coffee and a toasted tea cake. We had to try out the new stretch of road that goes to Norwich airport on the way to look at our present. We were only going to look 👀 but ended up getting it, it’s lovely, should be delivered next week and we can’t wait. I am not saying what it is because my family read this. I was going to make soup for lunch but on the way home I bought 2 cans of tomato soup and some crisps. I knitted all afternoon, had a shower, opened a bottle of wine and made a great spaghetti bolognese for dinner. While we were out I also bought my first Christmas present, it would have been my second but I haven’t given H my half of our present yet.

Monday.
I got up at 5*30, made a pot of tea and had a slice of toast for breakfast. I packed 2 cheese and tomato sandwiches for my lunch with a bottle of water. I did a load of washing and when it was done I put it in the tumble dryer with yesterday’s washing which was out in the rain. We needed a loaf of bread but H had to make it because I had to get ready to go to work. I had to do 36 bunches of carrots and then trim leeks till coffee break. We washed and packed them and I went backup the field for 10 corn on the cob and a box of parsnips. It was back on leeks till lunch. After lunch we washed all the things we had and I went back on leeks for the rest of the afternoon just leaving time to wash and pack up again. It was a horrible day, cold wet and windy with mud everywhere. When I was walking out of the garage I caught my foot on a pallet board and fell over! I Hurt both my knees and they still aren’t better from when I fell off my bike! Both the men were there and saw me so it was embarrassing as well as painful. When I got home I had a cup of tea and a mince pie, then a bath. For dinner we had pizza, grilled tomatoes, leek and crispy kale. I am now off till Thursday.

However I persevered and today I have knitted all day long and managed to finish 250 of the 700 grams of wool. I finished the back and almost one sleeve, my fingers ache! I was happily knitting away when H came in and told me it was pouring with rain. My washing was soaking wet so I left it out there ! We had a cheese and beetroot sandwich for lunch with a cup of soup, H did it all because he wanted me to carry on knitting. For dinner we had pork with potatoes, carrots, corn on the cob and cauliflower. I hung out the washing and then changed into my cycle gear so I could bike to my butchers to pick up a Christmas order list. I also bought a few things but not much as I don’t like wearing a heavy backpack when I am riding. I went the long way there and the short way back.(18 miles) . When I got back H had finished his ride, 46 miles av 24*1 mph. We had a shower and I washed my hair then we had lunch, pork pie for H pork and Stilton pie for me, mince pies with squirty cream and a mug of coffee. I knitted all afternoon and have now knitted 14 inches of the back of H’s jumper. I am not doing any more tonight because I have arm ache. For dinner tonight we had Cornish pasties, fried leek, mushrooms and curly kale. My washing is dry again which is great. H says he is going to ride his bike upstairs again tomorrow so I might go out on my own again but if it’s too cold I might just knit. It’s alrea down to 4 degrees.

Friday. c
I got up at 6*30 and put on a load of washing. We had our breakfast and then a coffee. I hung my washing out and then sat and knitted while H washed up and tidied the kitchen. 😊 later I made the bed, did a bit of dusting and then we got ready to go out on our bikes. We only had a short ride (16 miles) because we had to go, first to our daughters because it is her wedding anniversary (17 years) so we took them a bottle of bubbly. Then it was on to the hospital to visit H’s brother who has been in there since last Friday when he collapsed outside his bowls club. While we were there his consultant came to tell him the results of his scan and what they are going to do for him. He will have 2 separate operations next week, the first one being on Monday. We stayed till the tea trolley came in then we left to let him get on with his meal. We will go again next week. When we left the hospital we went to the chip shop. It was packed and I was queuing outside the door. I bought 2large cod and 1 portion of chips, a bread roll and 2 cans of shandy. They were still nice and hot when we got home. I had hoped I was going to do a nice long ride tomorrow but I have just seen a weather forecast and it looks as if it will be pouring with rain.

I got up at 5*40, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I had made my salad yesterday so I sat and watched a bit of tv before getting ready to go to work. My boss is in France for a week so Andy had to give us our instructions, my first job was 18 bunches of purple carrots and 72 bunches of orange ones. After that I got half a box of loose beetroot and we went down to wash and pack it and load the van with the first orders for Andrew to deliver. When he left we went back for 4 boxes of loose carrots and a box of parsnips. After we had washed and packed them I picked tomatoes till lunch time. After lunch I had to pick the first sprouts of the season. They are lovely sprouts, really clean and tight but , my goodness they are tight on the stalk and my thumbs ache from pushing them off the plant. After that it was 2 boxes of sprouting broccoli, 3 boxes of swedes, 1 box of celeriac and a box of fennel. We washed everything, sorted the orders etc and it was time for me to go home. I had my usual cuppa and bath then I cooked dinner, we had quiche, corn on the cob and cauliflower. I don’t have to work again till Monday 😊 .

Wednesday
I got up at 5*50 and had my breakfast, then I just sat and knitted till H came down at 7. I did a load of washing, emptied the dishwasher and dressed, then we had a coffee. It was raining so I didn’t hang out the washing. I finished the headband I was knitting and started a new one. H said he wants me to knit him a jumper so I said ok. At 10*30 he went for his Spanish lesson, he went in the car as it was drizzling. When he left I cleaned the kitchen floor and did a bit of dusting before carrying on with my knitting. When H came home he said ‘ get your coat on and we will go to get the wool for my jumper’!!! I didn’t know I was going to have to knit it right away!! Anyway we bought some wool, a pattern and 2 pairs of needles. Then we went to a little cafe for a coffee and cheese on toast. When we got home H wanted me to start his jumper so I have but it’s hard work, the pattern is Irish moss stitch so every row is one knit one purl. For dinner we had sausages, chips, mushrooms and eggs with stewed apple and ice cream for dessert. Unfortunately I have to go to work tomorrow.

Tuesday
We both got up at 7am and I put on a load of washing and the kettle then we had our breakfast. H made us a coffee while I hung out the washing. After coffee I made the bed and we changed into our cycle gear ready to go for a bike ride. It was pretty windy so we went along the track. It was nice, 23 miles. When we came back I got my washing in while H hosed the bikes down. Then I fried some bacon for our lunch sandwiches and made us each a cup of coffee. Later we had a glass of wine and a rock cake. Tonight we are having fagots and peas for dinner with new potatoes and gravy with stewed apple and custard for pudding. My sister in law just rang to tell me that H’s brother, who is in hospital and has been very ill, is much better today. He was sitting out of bed playing dominoes. Thank goodness 😅. H has just ran me a bath and I don’t want it to get cold but before I go up to use it I am going to put the bikes away.

Monday.
I got up at 6, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I had packed my salad the night before so I made the bed, dressed and got ready to go to work. I was sent straight on leeks and and trimmed them till 12*15 when Andy came to take them and me down. We had our lunch then washed and packed them,( I had done 13 boxes ) we were sent back up the field to do some more . The boss just said go back up and get a load. There was no count. We went down at 3*30 to wash and pack them and got told off for doing too many. I think he should have said how many he wanted we aren’t mind readers. when they were washed it was time for me to go home. My boss is off to France on Wednesday and as I am not working again till Thursday I won’t see him for over a week. When I got home I had a cup of tea and then a bath before cooking dinner. We had leftover chicken with mashed potato, cauliflower, carrots and peas. Pineapple for pudding. Our son went back to London this afternoon so it’s very quiet here this evening. I now have 2 days off to look forward to but the forecast is for rain tomorrow.

Sunday.
It was a much better day today, nice and sunny right from the start. I have been very lazy and not blogged since Thursday. I had a nice day Friday,I went for a bike ride with my son which was quite hard but I didn’t let him get away. In the evening we went out for a meal with all the rest of our family and had a great evening. The food was delicious and the company was even better. Yesterday I didn’t do anything much, son is trying to sort out my sewing machine, because he wants some curtains shortened. All the sewing machine instructions are on a video tape and we don’t have a player anymore. He and I went out and bought a new needle for the machine and he found the instructions on line, he has printed them all out for me. Today I got my washing dry, we had salad for lunch and then went to Cley for a walk along the beach to blow away the cobwebs. When we finished walking we went to the cafe for a coffee and a slice of cake. As soon as we were home I cooked dinner which was chicken, sausages, mashed and roast potatoes, roast sweet potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and gravy. It was nice. We had pineapple for dessert. H opened a bottle of wine and we are going to watch a film. He has also made a huge bowl of popcorn 🍿 it’s delicious.

Thursday.
I got up at 5*30, had my breakfast, sorted my work bag, made the bed and had time to clean the downstairs cloakroom, wash the floor etc, then got ready to go to work. When I arrived the boss said nobody wants anything much and gave me a list which said, 48 bunches of carrots, 22 bunches of purple carrots, 5 boxes of leeks then weeding. As I am still pretty uncomfortable with all my bruising I asked if, when I had finished the harvesting I could go home. He said yes. I did get another message later asking for 4 boxes of loose carrots. I only ate a little of my salad at coffee break so I finished it when I got home.( I left off at 12*45. ) when I got back I had a lovely surprise, H had done all my clearing up for me, cleaned the bathroom and even polished all our brass door handles. ( He has put his back out ) no2 son arrived home at 4*45so I cooked dinner. We had sirloin steak, peas and chips. I am doing my weekly shop in the morning instead of Saturday.

This morning I knitted till H came down and we had our breakfast, I did a load of washing and hung it out while H was making us a coffee. I made the bed after I was dressed and then made H some rock cakes which was what he asked for. When they were done I went to the chicken farm for eggs, then to the garden centre because my daughter wanted some white pansies. I bought myself a pack of Christmas cards, 2 white ceramic plant pot holders and an indoor plant. They have all their Christmas decorations and trees out and I spent ages looking round. When I got home we had out lunch, French stick with cheese and ham. This afternoon H had a Spanish lesson so after I had washed the kitchen floor I spent the rest of the time knitting . I really wanted to finish it but I ran out of time. For dinner we had chicken strips in breadcrumbs, potato wedges, baked beans and garlic bread. We had a glass of wine and a cup of tea later. I have to work again tomorrow and when I get home no2son should be here, he’s coming for the weekend.

H got the bikes out of the garage and pumped the tyres up because we were doing a road ride for a change. We did 33miles in 2*5 hours. We went through some really heavy showers but as it wasn’t cold we didn’t bother to shelter. When we got back we had another coffee and cheese and biscuits for lunch. The miles we did today made this the best October since I began recording my miles in 2005. We had a glass of wine and I soaked my bruises in a nice warm bath. For dinner tonight we had a fish pie with cauliflower and carrots in a cheese sauce. Today I knitted 2 sleeves of a baby’s jacket so I have only the yolk to do. Tomorrow I am not going to work or cycling, I am having the day off.😊

We met our daughter on the track and off we all went, in the pouring rain, to ride along the first section of the new N D R which was open to cyclists, walkers, joggers etc before it opens to traffic next month. It was great, a really fast road but a pity about the weather. We saw a beautiful rainbow. When we got home we had a bath and a glass of wine. And I knitted again till it was time for me to cook dinner. We had steak pie, potatoes and peas. I am now going to watch tv in bed and I am looking forward to S C D results. I am supposed to work tomorrow but I will have to see how I am in the morning and if I go I will stay as long as I can. This week I have ridden 107 miles.

Friday.
I was up at 6*20, put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea. When H came down we had our breakfast. I hung the washing out and emptied the dishwasher. H made us a coffee and when we had drunk it we got ready to go out on our bikes. When we got to the new bridge the men were working on it and had a van and a lorry on it. H managed to ride past but as I got to the 2 men I got to a bit of soft soil and my wheel slipped off the tarmac and I fell off. It was so embarrassing! H was really angry, you would think I did it on purpose! The 2 men rushed to pick me up, I said I was fine and got away as fast as possible. I hurt my left heel, right knee, right elbow, arm and shoulder. We carried on and after a couple of miles I was fine. On the way back we had to cross a road which is at the bottom of a sandy slope. I don’t know how it happened put one minute I was going down and the next I flew over the handlebars. I can’t believe I fell off twice in one day!! I really hurt myself the second time, I have a lump on my left knee, another one on my right thigh another huge bruise with a cut at the top of my leg a huge bruise on my back and both my hands are still numb. However saying all that it’s only pain and I shall be going out on my bike again tomorrow. When we got home H made me sit down while he got lunch, cheese and beetroot sandwiches with a cup of instant coffee. I then soaked in the bath for a while and when I came down I put an ice pack on my knee. I just sat all afternoon till it was time to to get dinner. We had home cooked fish, chips and mushy peas. I am now laying on the bed, watching tv and that’s where I intend to stay for the rest of the day.

I made some lovely vegetable soup for lunch and then spent most of the afternoon in the garden filling my brown garden bin because it’s emptied tomorrow. We had lasagna for dinner. My washing all got dry once again.

Sunday.
I got up at 6*45 put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and waited for H to get up. While I was waiting I did a few rows of my knitting. When H came down we had our breakfast and then a coffee. He went straight back up and got ready to have a ride on his turbo trainer. I sat and peeled a load of cooking apples that my bosses wife gave me and cooked them, I left them to cool so I can freeze them in separate portions. Next I hung out the washing, came in and drained the blackberries out of my blackberry whiskey. Then I changed into my cycle gear, took my bike out of the garage and went for a ride. The plan was to go and look for some sloes so I could make some sloe gin. When I left home it was nice and bright so I left mt washing out blowing madly on the line. I had done about 4 miles when the sky turned black, the wind was blowing a gale and it was hard work biking. I still hadn’t found any sloes so I battled on.( the things we do for our kids !!!!) well the skies opened and threw the rain down on me in sheets, I got soaked through to the skin my hair was dripping down my back and I was frozen. I found some sloes so it was not all in vain. As I couldn’t get any wetter I also stopped and gathered some chestnuts 🌰. When I got back H had finished his ride but my washing was dripping on the line, he didn’t know it was raining!! I hosed my bike down and by the time I went inH had made me a coffee and put the heating on, i was frozen. We had cheese and biscuits with pickle for lunch and one of my choc buns. This afternoon we watched tv and after a bath I made a pot of tea and cooked dinner. We had steak and ale pie with carrots, cauliflower and new potatoes with stewed apple and ice cream for pudding. I roasted some chestnuts. I left my washing out till it was nearly dark, then H got it in and its dry! It’s work for me tomorrow.

When H got ready to go for his lesson I went with him part of the way and then got on to the cycle track to go for a short ride. Tuesday.
I got up at 5:30 and made a pot of tea, then I sat and knitted till H got up and we had our breakfast. H then went into the garage to get our folding bikes out and put them into the boot of the car ready for us to go out later. While he was doing that I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away, dusted the lounge and made the bed. WhenH came in he made us a coffee and we got ready to go out. First we drove to Castle Rising and parked at the castle. We went in and looked round and walked all round the outside as well, It was very interesting. Then we took our little bikes out of the boot, assembled them and went for a ride round the village. We found a nice “ olde worlde “ tea shop where we had a pot of tea for 2, ham eggs and chips and a large glass of wine. After that we found a great cycle track that led to the Sandringham estate. It passed through some beautiful countryside and a huge wooded area where we saw some buzzards circling in a clear blue sky. We locked our bikes and walked to the church for a look round then cycled back to the car. On the way back we were going to stop at a little cafe we like for a cream tea but they closed at we got there so I popped into Tesco and bought us each a packet of hula hoops and a cinnamon and pecan slice, yummy. We had them with a cup of coffee, because we won’t need a proper meal this evening. Anyway, we have had a lovely day.

After that I went to my butchers in the car and on the way back I went to the chicken farm for eggs. When I came back H was downstairs, I was surprised because he should have still been riding but he said his computer crashed so he couldn’t carry on. We had a Stilton topped pork pie for lunch with a coffee and watched a cycle race from Turkey. I washed my hair and got the washing in, nice and dry again. I have been knitting all afternoon and for dinner tonight we had belly pork with peas and a huge chunk of cheese and garlic bread instead of potatoes, it was nice.

We left home just after 9.30 and took the scenic route to visit H’s brother. We had a cup of tea and a biscuit and stayed for around an hour and cycled along the cycle track back home. It was very windy and we were battered about on the way there on the road but we were sheltered on the track on the ride back. H has a sore knee so our ride wa s pretty slow. We had a pot noodle for lunch, watched a cycle race then had a shower. My washing all got nice and dry in the strong wind. I have started some more knitting. For dinner tonight we had pork chops, fried onions and leeks and potatoes. Now I am going to have an apple because I haven’t eaten much today, I have lost a pound this week, I know it’s not much but I am so pleased because I have been stuck on the same weight for ages.

Wednesday.
I was up at 5.30, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I had made my salad yesterday so I just had to add some cheese. I dressed, made the bed, hung out the washing and went to work. First of all we planted 6 trays of cabbages, it's our last planting for this year. It didn't take long and it was 150 dozen cabbages. After that I had to do 96 bunches of carrots and 16 purple ones. Then I went weeding, first I wed an onion bed but Andy came to take me to the yard where I had to lay out all the carrots so Andy could wash them and I packed them into boxes ready for our customers. We had our lunch and went back up the field to trim and box 5 boxes of turnips. After that I went back to the weeding, finishing the onions and starting on the leeks which are full of nettles. The first of October went off with a bang for me !!!!
I got up at 6 and put on a load of washing, it was raining. Then I made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. A little later H made us a coffee and then he went up to ride a race on Zwift. I swept and washed the kitchen floor and then the downstairs toilet. Well in there we had an old water softener, it was all wired in but doesn't work any more so I went up and asked H if I could take it out because it looked messy, he said yes so I came down, found my garden snips and simply cut through the wire. Well there was a terrific bang and a flash with flames and sparks and all our power went off! H had been riding for over an hour and was doing well then he lost it all!!! ( I didn't get shouted at too much! ) It took H ages to sort it all out. I made some bread rolls and we had one with corned beef and a cup of coffee for lunch. I sat and knitted for most of the afternoon and for dinner tonight we had sirloin steaks, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, onions, a fried egg and a roll. It's work for me tomorrow.

Wedding dress hunting.
I got up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing. I just sat and read my book after that waiting for H to get up which he did at 7.45 then we had our breakfast. I hung out my washing and I hung yesterday's out again because it was rained on yesterday. After that I dressed ready to go to the City. H took me to our daughters and we all went together, daughter, granddaughter and me. We met the bride to be in
'Costa' ( my other granddaughter) and all had a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows and a slice of something delicious before going to our first appointment. She tried on several dresses, all of which looked nice. We went from there to Primark for a look round and then on to giraffe for cocktails and lunch. We all had something different and it was all lovely. From there we went to Debenhams to try bridesmaid dresses on etc. After that we went back to the car, shopping on the way and on to our next appointment at 3pm. The traffic in the City was horrendous but we made it and we're only 6 minutes late! Anyway Christie fitted on 2 more dresses and they both looked nicer on her than any we tried at the first shop. She decided on the second dress which is beautiful and looked as if it was made for her. We then took her home and her fiancé made us a welcome cup of tea then Daugter took me home. I left this morning at 9am and it was exactly 5pm when I got home. H made me a cup of tea and I cooked dinner, new potatoes, cauliflower, peas and pork slices in barbecue sauce. I then had a bath and have come upstairs to watch strictly come dancing.

When we got home we unpacked and put everything away, then we had a coffee and a jam and cream do nut. By the time we had eaten an drunk that it was raining so we hung on before getting ready to go out on our bikes. It had stopped by 10.15 so we got ready and went. We had only been about 4 miles when it began to rain again, however we carried on and just did a short round trip ( 19.8 miles ). The track was very muddy and by the time we got home I was filthy, mud from head to foot. For the last half mile it poured down and we were soaked, it's a good job it's warm. We had a shower, a coffee, a pot noodle and a slice of cake. Thursday.
I got up at 6.45 and put on a load of washing. I waited for H to get up before having breakfast. We had intended to go out on our bikes this morning but it was pretty wet. I cleaned and tidied the lounge, we had a coffee and then we took down our kitchen blind and put it back up properly because one side had become loose and I was scared to open or close it in case it fell down.
H made a loaf of bread and I made a nice fruit cake. We then went into the passage and trimmed all the long bit of hedge so we don't get wet when we walk past. It was still dull at 10 am so we gave up on cycling and I started a new book while H studied his Spanish. We had cheese and biscuits for lunch and the sun came out so I hung out the washing and by 5.30 it was dry. For dinner tonight we had spaghetti bolognese and I had an apple for pudding. We hope to get a ride in some time tomorrow.

Tuesday.
I got up at 6.30, put on a load of washing and then just sat and read tillH got up about half an hour later. We then had our breakfast. I had one slice of toast and he had 2. I couldn't make up my mind weather to have marmite or my homemade jam on mine so I ended up with a half slice of each. We also had a mug of tea and a little later a proper cup of coffee. I watered my outside pots, hung out my washing, made the bed and did a bit of clearing up. H did his Spanish homework. At 9.40 H said he was getting ready to go out on our bikes so I went up and put my cycle gear on and off we went. We had a lovely ride with me getting 2 ' Q O Ms' . When we got back we showered and changed, had an instant coffee and a bacon sandwich before going to one of our favourite pub/restaurants to book a meal on our 58th wedding anniversary and another to treat all our family. We do this because I can't have them all for Christmas any more. There are 12 of us now and it's not only hard work but there isn't really enough room to sit us all now. For dinner tonight we had a fish pie with cabbage and leeks. It's work for me tomorrow.

Sunday.
We both got up at the same time this morning, I put on a load of washing and H sliced off the bread for toast. We had a huge mug of tea and then a coffee. I hung out the washing and then prepared the fruit we gathered yesterday to make jam. It's turned out well. I vacuumed all downstairs and then made a loaf of bread. I pulled a few weeds out of the garden and then dusted before reading two chapters of my book. H had a turbo ride and when he had done we had an instant coffee and a corned beef sandwich. We watched the world championships cycle race for the senior men and then had a shower and I cooked dinner. We had pork with potatoes, carrots and cauliflower. The lump in my arm has gone down a bit, it's not painful unless I touch it but the bruise is huge. Tomorrow I have to go to work!!!

Saturday.
I was up first this morning so I made the tea and waited for H to get up and slice off the bread for my toast. After breakfast we went to Asda for our weekly shop after that we went to M & S because it's ' meal deal ' week. Then on to Tesco bacause the other 2 shops don't sell the milk we like. As soon as we got back H made us a coffee while I unpacked and put everything away. After our coffee we got back in the car and went to the doctors for our yearly flu jab. I had mine first and the lady who did it asked which arm? I wasn't bothered so I said either one. She was nearest my right arm so I thought she might as well do that one I tolled up my sleeve and it was done. It took us 4 minutes to get home and by the time we arrived I had a lump on my arm as big as a turkeys egg! It was very painful and a bruise began to form. We had a look at H's arm and we couldn't even find the needle mark? We got ready to go out on our bikes and rode 27.5 miles, half on the track and the rest on the road.
For lunch we had a corned beef sandwich and an instant coffee. We watched a cycle race with a glass of wine, had a shower and I cooked dinner, lasagne and garlic mushrooms. The swelling on my arm has gone down a bit but the bruise has spread over he whole of my upper arm!! The biggest problem is that I sleep on my right side and there is no way I will be able to lay on it so I won't get much sleep tonight.
