Ps.

It was Horsey gap !!!

New Year's Eve.

A load of washing done porridge eaten and tea drunk. Then I sat and read for an hour before vacuuming all downstairs and making the bed. We each had a nice cup of coffee from our new machine and I went outside and dried the windows with our new window vacuum. H went up to ride his bike on the turbo and I got ready to go out with my daughter and family to cart gap to see the seals. There are loads again this year. We had a nice walk , we walked 4 miles. It was a nice day,no wind and quite mild. It was freezing last year and the year before. When I got back home we had a glass of wine and I put some tomatoes and a lasagne in the oven for our dinner. I had a bath and washed my hair. I am now going to check out the tele magazine to see what I am watching on television . I want something that will keep me awake till it's time for Londons fireworks 💥
A Very Happy New Year To You All

New Years eves eve.

We both woke up at the same time, came down and had our breakfast. We both had marmalade on toast and a cup of tea. I then dressed and we went shopping. I spent £42.!!! I wish it was like that every week. When we came back we had a cup of coffee made by our new machine and it was lovely. I sat about reading a new book I had for Christmas and at 11.30 we drove to Wells for lunch. It was thick fog all the way there and all the way back. H and I had fish and chips ( H had haddock and I had cod ) our son had chicken. After lunch we went for a short walk but it was pretty cold in the fog. We couldn't believe how busy it was at Wells, the car park was almost full and there were masses of people in all the cafes and shops etc.. When we arrived home we had a nice glass of wine and son and I played our deciding games of cribbage. The games were so close I could feel my blood pressure going up!! Anyway, my dear son won, much to his delight. We are both so competitive I think it made his Christmas. We just had soup and a cup of tea for tea because we were still full from lunch.  Our son didn't have any wine because he is driving back to London this evening, he just had earl grey tea. He is going to have a foggy trip.

Thursday.

I managed to stay in bed till 6.15 this morning, I put on a load of washing and then stacked the dishwasher and put it on before making my porridge. I hung the washing out and we all had a coffee. H went up to have a turbo session so son and I went to Holt park for a walk, it was lovely in the sun but still frozen in the shade. We walked for about an hour and then came back for lunch stopping for milk on the way. We had salad for lunch and then our son went to the climbing centre while I made a cottage pie for dinner. Our daughter rang, she has a cold, she says they will pick me up at around 12.30 on New Year's Eve and we are all going to see the seals, we go every year. H doesn't come, he doesn't like walking and he doesn't like the beach either.

A great day. ( 78 year old ).

My day has been really good. First thing I rang my boss, left a message on his answer phone saying if he can manage without me tomorrow then I would rather not go. I had porridge for breakfast, dressed, made the bed vacuumed and dusted all downstairs. After our son had eaten his breakfast he and I decided to go for a bike ride along the track again.H was going for a Spanish lesson. The fog was really thick and I thought there would not be many people out in it. Well I was wrong, the track was very busy. If you are on a bike it's the best place to be because there is no chance of being hit by a car because of the poor visibility. The fog was heavy and dense so by the time we arrived at Reepham cafe we were quite wet. When we got back home H was there and I made soup for lunch. Son and I then played cribbage and, oh joy, I won 2 games to 1.!!!No sooner had we finished when the phone rang and it was my boss to say he can manage without me tomorrow so now I won't have to go to work until next Tuesday. Being told that and winning made my day. We did well on the bike ride too and managed to do it 10 minutes faster than we did on Boxing Day.

Tuesday

The usual load of washing  when I got up, porridge for breakfast and then I loaded the dishwasher and put that on too. I hung my washing out but it didn't get as dry as yesterday's. When our son had eaten his breakfast he got ready and went to the climbing centre and I went into the back garden and spent several hours clearing up and filling my brown bin. When he came back I got our lunches, H had a bacon sandwich and son and I had a turkey salad. He and I then had 3 games of cribbage. He won the first and I won the second so we had to have a decider which, of course, he won!! We then all had a cup of tea. As I was drinking mine my boss rang and said it will be too frosty for me to work  tomorrow so I don't have to go till Thursday now. I have made turkey stew for dinner tonight but I have frozen all the rest of the turkey so we can have something different tomorrow.

Yesterday.

I forgot to blog yesterday!! It was a lovely day for me, I saw all my family. First H and I had a leisurely breakfast, I did yet another load of washing and the dishwasher went on as well. Our son got up at 9 and had his breakfast, then H got all our mountain bikes out, pumped them up etc. and at 9.45 our eldest son arrived with his bike and we all went of to Marriotts way cycle track to meet our daughter and son in law so we could all ride together. There were 6 of us, we looked almost like a cycle club. The sun was shining and we were sheltered on the track and it came as a shock when we had to ride a short distance on an exposed bit of road at how cold and windy it really was. L & J had to go straight home when our ride was over but S came back for a coffee and some Christmas nibbles.  I made soup for lunch and then we watched Alice through the looking glass in 3 D. It was turkey for dinner again ( it will be today too ). After dinner we watched another film but I kaput dozing off and missed most of it.

Christmas Day.

Well Merry Christmas all who read this. I hope your day has been as nice as mine. We were up around 6.15, had our breakfast then sat about reading and waiting for our son to get up. He came down at 9 so I opened the first bottle of Buck's Fizz. We then opened all our presents and we are so lucky. We have loads of great things, our no 1 son and his wife came round this morning and helped us out with with some of the nuts and chocolates. Our daughter rang for a chat and when S & J left we had a salad for lunch with a delicious Stilton topped pork pie from my lovely butchers. We watched a film this afternoon,H had a turbo session, son went for a run and I just sat and read my book. We had our Christmas dinner this evening and though I say it myself it was perfect. We had turkey, sausages, stuffing, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes and roast sweet potatoes, carrots and sprouts with rich gravy. We had a raspberry, sherry trifle heaped with fresh raspberries and now we are on the wine so I will close while I can still see the keyboard.

Christmas Eve.

I forgot to say yesterday that I lost another pound in weight this week so I was pleased about that. No 2 son came home last night at around 11.20. H and I both got up at 6 this morning and both had toast for breakfast. I put on a load of washing and a load in the dishwasher and then we went off to our butchers. I got some lovely meat. When we got back we had a coffee and I hung out the washing. I sat about for most of the morning but nor until I had put out all our nuts , chocolates and crisps. We had a salad for lunch and then went to our granddaughter and her partners new house, it's very nice. We had eats and drinks and a tour of the house then we left there and went to our grandson and his partners flat which is also very nice. We left when it was time for me to get our dinner. We had fillet steaks, peas and homemade chips, all delicious.
If anybody reads this I would like to wish them a very happy Christmas.

Christmas eves eve.

i was up before 6, had toast and marmalade for breakfast and was at Asda by 7. I got everything I wanted except I forgot my shortbread so I will have to have something else with my Christmas morning sherry. I went to the chicken farm for eggs and hung out my load of washing. I then vacuumed the whole house and dusted. It's all looking like Christmas here. This afternoon I went on the turbo trainer and rode for an hour, I did the best I have ever done, 18.4 miles in an hour. It was really hard but I am glad I did it. When I finished H ran me a bath and I also washed my hair. When I went back downstairs there was a glass of wine waiting for me. Just after 5 pm our daughter, son in law, granddaughter and her friend all came round with our Xmas presents and to take theirs. Hen they left we had our dinner, duck in orange sauce with potatoes and peas, yummy. Lemon cheesecake for pudding. Our no 2 son should be coming home tonight from London but I expect he will be late because the traffic is heavy.

Thursday, 22 December 2016

The first day of the Christmas holidays.

I got up at 5.30, it will take me a day or two to unwind and manage to lay in a bit later. I had porridge for breakfast with a mug of tea,and when H got up we had a cup of coffee. I washed all my old working clothes and hung them out. It's a lovely sunny day so they should dry. I washed up and then cleaned my ovens and then the whole kitchen. After that I vacuumed all downstairs and dusted throughout. We had another coffee and put my bike into the garage. I hung up all the cards we received today and made some vegetable soup for lunch, it was very nice. For dinner tonight I am making a pasta thing, it's like a pasta bake but I do it all on the hob. First I fry an onion, then I am going to chop and add 5 quorn sausages, a tin of tomatoes and a couple of handfuls of frozen peas and sweet corn. I cook the pasta in the microwave, add it to my pan, give it a stir, grate some cheese over the top and as it melts dish it up. It's always very tasty. I am doing my Asda shop in the morning and going to the butchers on Saturday for my turkey, sausages and all the rest of my Christmas meat.

Wednesday yippee.

This morning H had to wake me up at 6, I was still sound asleep. I packed a salad and a bottle of water and went to work. I did 8 dozen bunches of carrots and then leeks. I had to help wash everything at lunch time and then walk back to leeks for the rest of the afternoon. When I left off the boss said he could manage without me tomorrow so I don't have to go back till next Wednesday!!! As I left off he handed me a Christmas card with £120 inside, a bottle of wine and a huge box of luxury biscuits, how lucky am I ? I also got my weeks wages which was for last Friday and 3 days this week so that was more than I usually get too. For dinner tonight we had fish pie and garden peas, it was very nice. Tomorrow I will get all my housework done, working all week I haven't had a chance to do much. We will finish our shopping off on Friday as usual.

Tuesday and I worked!

I never work on Tuesdays so now I haven't a clue what day it is. I took a prawn salad for my lunch. I thought if I have to work on a Tuesday I will treat myself to a nice lunch. I had a lovely packet of M & S prawns in the freezer and I ate the lot. I did a load of washing before I went and H managed to get it dry for me. I had to pick 3 sacks of sprouts first and then I spent all the rest of the day on leeks. We had a Cornish pasty for dinner with stir fried leeks, it was lovely. Now last week my boss said, 'I will need you Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday next week Jean'. That was fine by me, 3 days in a row is hard work when you are 78, it's a very manual job and it tires me out. Well this morning he said I don't think I will need you Thursday but I will let you know tomorrow afternoon!! I don't want to go. ,!

Monday, 19 December 2016

Monday

I packed a salad for my lunch with a bottle of water and went to work. I had to fill 10 boxes with loose carrots first and while I was doing that the men were cutting cabbages and cauliflowers. They also did some celeriac. We went down to wash it all and have our coffee break. It took till 11 am to pack it all and then the men dropped me off on the beetroot so I could pick 2 boxes of loose ones. From there I went back to the carrots to do 120 bunches. I then had to pick sprouts till I was picked up. I did a sack and a half. The men were cutting red cabbages and getting a load of swedes so there was enough washing to last me till hometime. I had a lovely cup of tea and then a bath before dinner which was 2 sausages,2 eggs and baked beans with a slice of bread and butter. I have to work again tomorrow so I will try to get an early night.

Sunday, 18 December 2016

Sunday.

I managed to stay in bed till 6.40 this morning, then I put on a load of washing and made a bowl of porridge for my breakfast. I always have tea with my breakfast but have a coffee quite soon after on the days I don't work. I went upstairs and dressed, made the bed and then hung out the washing. When I came in again I vacuumed all downstairs and washed the kitchen floor. I wrapped my last present before H went up to ride on his bike on the turbo. W hile he was doing that I went to the garden centre for a few things and to the 'kitchenary' for some coloured icing. When I got back H was still riding so I made some vegetable soup for lunch. After lunch I decorated the Christmas cake. I am pleased with the result. We had a glass of wine and I cooked dinner, a steak and gravy pie cabbage, carrot and mashed potato. Tomorrow I have to work and it's been a very short weekend, also I have to work 3 days in a row so I will be pretty tired by Thursday and doubt I will want to go out on my bike.

Saturday, 17 December 2016

Saturday.

It's actually 2.20 am on Sunday morning! But I forgot to post till now. I had a nice day. I put on my usual load of washing and had toast and marmite for breakfast. As soon as I was ready we went shopping. I spent almost £150 in Asda and another £50 in M & S food hall, I love Christmas. We unpacked and put everything away as soon as we got home, H made us a coffee and we changed into our cycle gear so that we were ready for when Louise and James arrived. We all went off together but the two men soon left us and went off to ride an extra 4 miles to Reepham station while Louise and I took the short cut chatting all the way. We only had a coffee at the station because I had bought M & S cakes for when we got back to ours. James had driven them round in his works van and also brought his road bike because he wanted H to make a slight adjustment to his brakes for him so he can use in in the morning with his mates.
We had more Christmas cards today and our house is looking festive. We had soup for lunch and I did nothing all afternoon i was too tired after 3 days work in a row and then a quite hard sticky ride along the track. For dinner tonight we had cottage pie and cauliflower cheese, it was very nice.

Friday, 16 December 2016

Pay day.

this morning I did a load of washing, had porridge for breakfast, toasted 2 slices of bread and made cheese sandwiches for lunch with them. Then I got ready to go to work. I had to do 96 bunches of carrots and then trim leeks till 12.20 when I was taken down to have lunch in the shed with the men!! ,( special treat ) After lunch we washed and packed all the leeks, cleared everything away and all went home. When I got home I had a cup of tea and then a bath. For dinner tonight we are having pork chops, egg, chips and corn on the cob. This morning I weighed myself as I always do first thing Friday morning and I have lost 2 lbs this week. I have now lost 9.5lbs since I changed my diet. I hope my colesterol is going down too because that's the reason for the change of diet, the weight loss is an added bonus.

Thursday, 15 December 2016

Thursday

Work again, I took my salad, a small flask of bovril and a bottle of water and off I went. First I had to pick 3 large sacks of sprouts and by thr time I had finished I was wet up to my elbows. I then had to work like that for the rest of the day. I had to do 10 dozen bunches of carrots and 3 boxes of loose ones then walk to leeks. I had to stay in the field to eat my lunch and I was annoyed about that! The men drove to the yard and sat in armchairs while I sat on a box in the mud. As I was already wet I got cold and felt miserable for the rest of the day. I trimmed 6 boxes of leeks, we washed them and then I drove to Morrisons where I met my sister in law and we exchanged presents. When I got home I had a cup of tea and then soaked in the bath until I had warmed up. For dinner tonight we had a jacket potato, cod in breadcrumbs and baked beans. I have to work again tomorrow,it's ages since I worked on a Friday, but I leave off at 2 so it's not so bad. I will have to do my weekly shop on Saturday instead.

Wednesday, 14 December 2016

Wednesday.

I got up at 5.45, made myself a bowl of porridge, had my breakfast, did a load of washing, made the bed, packed my work bag, dressed and went to work. It was the same order as Mondays, 8 dozen bunches of carrots then Leeks. The men came and took me away at noon and we washed everything. It was lunch then and afterwards I packed everything and walked back to leeks. I spent the rest of the afternoon trimming them. When I left off the boss said I will be picking sprouts tomorrow and he thinks he will need me on Friday as well. We had chicken curry for dinner and while it was cooking I prepared a salad to take to work tomorrow. If I do have to work Friday I am going to treat myself to cheese and tomato sandwiches for my lunch, I haven't had any bread for ages.

Tuesday, 13 December 2016

Tuesday 13th

I managed to stay in bed till 6am,I came downstairs and put on a load of washing. It was pretty damp outside but I hung it out anyway. I had my usual bowl of porridge for breakfast and H made me a coffee. I washed up all the big things I didn't want to put in the dishwasher and sat and read some of my book. H went up to ride on his turbo trainer because we decided it was too damp to ride outside. When he finished we had another coffee and a pot noodle for lunch. At 2 pm I went up to ride on the turbo. I did just over 20 miles and my average was 16.8 m p h.  I had a bath and then made a beef stew for dinner, it turned out well and was delicious. I have to go to work tomorrow so I have hard boiled 2 eggs for my lunch and I will also take 2 bananas 🍌.

Monday, 12 December 2016

Monday

It was work today so I made myself a salad and a flask of bovril, I took a bottle of water as well but didn't drink much of it because it was a cool day. I had to pick and bunch 8 dozen bunches of carrots and then go to leeks. I trimmed them till I was taken down to wash and pack them all I have finished 4 more rows. When they were all packed Andy and I had to go back to leeks and we both trimmed them till 3.20 when we went down to wash them and I just had time to pack them before hometime. We are now halfway down the next 4 rows. When I got home I had a cup of tea and a soak in the bath before cooking dinner. We had burgers from my butcher, baked beans, a fried egg and chips, it was yummy. I have tomorrow off but have to work on Wednesday. Tomorrow I hope to go out on my bike.

Sunday, 11 December 2016

Short blog.

Nothing much happened today, porridge for breakfast, sweeping and washing floors, hanging washing out and getting it in when dry, salad sandwiches for lunch, then icing the Christmas cake and cooking dinner. It was roast chicken with all the trimmings. No 1 son rang for a chat, they are all well. I wrote 3 more Xmas cards, all of which had to have a letter inside so took a while. That's it, now I am just waiting for S C D results.

Saturday, 10 December 2016

Exercise Saturday.

I have again had a lovely day. I had a lay in,not getting up till almost 7am. Porridge for breakfast with a huge mug of tea, then I read a chapter of my book while drinking a coffee. I had put on a load of washing when I got up so I hung it out and did a load of dusting. H washed the car and it looks lovely, it's 6 years old but looks like new. At 9.30 we changed into our cycle gear and went for a lovely ride along the track.23 and a bit miles. On the way home we gathered some holly which will look lovely for the holiday season. When we came in I brought the washing in again because it had just begun to rain. H made us another coffee and I got homemade soup for lunch. I had a bath and sorted my holly before cooking dinner. I am going to do jacket potatoes with pizza and corn on the cob. The potatoes are huge so will take ages to bake. H has just poured us both a glass of wine so I will end this and relax.

Friday, 9 December 2016

Friday.

Well it's 16 days to Christmas so after getting up just before 6, putting on a load of washing and having my breakfast I want shopping. I bought my weeks groceries plus wine 🍷, cider, pringles, nuts, dates, tomato juice and chocolates. When we got home again I unpacked it all and took the Christmas things upstairs and placed them all on a shelf in my bedroom, it's now known as my Christmas shelf. I hung my washing out but had to get it in again at 1.30 because I was off to the hairdressers for a colour and a cut. I had 3 inches taken off which is 7.5 centimetres in new money. I had a salad for my lunch before I went. When I got home it was ' wine o'clock ' . For dinner tonight we are having a fish pie with stir fried kale ( which tastes like Chinese seaweed) . This morning is the day of the week I weigh myself. I do it as soon as I get up wearing nothing and when I started I weighed 11stone 2.5 pounds. I now weigh 10 stone 9 pounds. This is the same as last week but I am happy with that because the week included my birthday with extra treats. I am not eating what I do now to loose weight,I am doing it because my colesterol is high, the weight loss is an extra bonus that I had not expected.

Thursday, 8 December 2016

Pay day.

I packed cheese and celery for my lunch with 2 bananas 🍌. I had my breakfast, put the dishwasher on, made the bed and went to work. I had to pack up some orders first ready to be delivered. Then I spent all the rest of the day trimming leeks. It has given me a back ache being bent over all day but hopefully it will soon go. At least I have no work tomorrow. I made a spaghetti bolognase for dinner and it was very nice. I fried a leek in olive oil, added mince, a can of tomatoes, some ketchup and an oxo cube. The spaghetti I cooked in the microwave, added it to the sauce and grated cheese over the top, job done. We are shopping tomorrow so I will get a few Christmas nuts and things, it's getting so close so quickly!!!

Wednesday, 7 December 2016

Wednesday.

I put on a load of washing, had 4 cream crackers with margarine and marmite for breakfast with my mug of tea, made the bed dressed and went to work. I took 2 bananas and 2 hard boiled eggs for my lunch with a bottle of water and a small flask of hot bovril. I had to do 72 bunches of carrots and then leeks. I was  taken down at 12 to wash and pack everything and then walk back to the leeks for the rest of the day. When I got home we had got 3 Christmas cards for me to hang up. I had a nice soak in a hot bath, a cup of tea and dinner, egg, beans, and a jacket potato. It's work again tomorrow so I hope it stays dry.

Tuesday, 6 December 2016

Another day off.

we woke up this morning to freezing fog. We were going out on our bikes and decided to go at 10 am. I had a bowl of porridge for breakfast and we also had a coffee. Well at 10 it was still foggy and freezing so I decided to do an hour on the turbo trainer.H put my bike on and I did it for just over an hour and rode 18.3 miles. I had a shower and then made soup for dinner. I used an onion, half a celeriac and 3 sticks of celery. I then added 3 veggie oxo cubes and water. It was cooked and ready in 21 minutes and really tastes like celery soup. Normally all my soups taste the same whatever I put in the pan. Anyway it was nice. We had a coffee and the loaf of bread we made turned out nice too. For dinner tonight we are having breaded cod, mushrooms peas and home made chips. I burned 469 calories on the bike ride so I can have a few chips and not worry.

Monday, 5 December 2016

Today got better!

i was up at 5, put on a load of washing, had my breakfast, made myself a salad for lunch, sorted out my work bag sharpened my leek knife made the bed, dressed up nice and warmly and went off to work 8 hours in the field. ( the temperature was -2.5 degrees). When I got to work the boss was waiting for me to say nobody wanted anything and the ground was too hard to get veg out anyway. I can't say I was very happy but he said he would pay me an hour for travel time. It only took me 12 minutes to get there but the traffic had built up and it took me ages to get home again.
H then cheered me up by saying he would take me out to lunch, my birthday treat. We went to Fakenham and I had sausages, eggs, beans and chips, a glass of cider and a knickerbocker glory. We went from there to a furniture store where we ordered a new sofa, huge chair and a coffee table. It's a 12 week wait so we won't have it for Christmas. We have a brown leather suite at the moment, we have had it for ages and it's still perfectly good but we have had it for so long and it's never going to wear up, we are just fed up with it! So as I said the day started off rubbish but got better 😃.

Sunday, 4 December 2016

Sunday.

Today has been nice. When I got up H had already stacked and started the dishwasher and made a pot of tea. We had our breakfast and then a coffee.I did a load of washing, hung it out and it dried in the glorious sunshine and slight breeze. I put the marzipan on my Christmas cake and it went well. I made some vegetable soup for lunch and that turned out well too. H had the last piece of my birthday cake for afters. This afternoon I wrapped some more presents and wrote a few more cards. For dinner tonight we had a chicken pie with gravy, mashed potatoes and cabbage.
Tomorrow I have to work again!!! My first day working now I am 78.,!

Saturday, 3 December 2016

My birthday.

Today I am 78 and I have had a lovely day. I had toast for breakfast with a cup of tea and then a coffee. I have got loads of cards and fabulous presents.our daughter and son in law came round at 9.30 and we went to Reepham along the cycle track. We had a drink at the station and then rode back.( 22.7 miles ) it was really enjoyable. When we got back we had a cup of tea and a slice of birthday cake, then I opened all my presents. When they left we had soup for lunch and H changed my chain and gear cassette on my mountain bike. Both my sons rang with birthday wishes, no 1 son came round when he knew we were home from our ride and no 2 son who is climbing in the Peak District rang me from half way up a crag. He rang again later to have a longer chat. I did a roast chicken for dinner with roast potatoes, carrots and beetroot. Oh and batter puddings and gravy. My cake was a white chocolate birthday cake from Asda and every one raved about it. It was yummy. I had a bath and washed my hair and now I am upstairs watching strictly come dancing.

Friday, 2 December 2016

Nice day off.

I was  up early and put on a load of washing which was finished before we went shopping. I did our weekly shop at Asda, treated myself to a birthday cake for tomorrow and bought a few Christmas bits and pieces.(£132). As soon as it was all put away I hung out the washing and we had a coffee. H went upstairs to work out on the turbo trainer after he had taken our Christmas tree 🎄 out of the loft so I could put it together and decorate it while he was riding. When he finished we had another coffee and soup for lunch. After lunch H worked on his and my road bikes, he put on new gear cassette 's and new chains. I just sat and wrote Christmas cards, I have written 21 so far and several had to have letters inside  which I wrote as well. For dinner we had duck in a port and orange sauce with potatoes and stir fried kale, it was very nice. Tomorrow is my birthday and I will be 78! My blog will still say 77 because I don't know how to change it, it will have to wait till no 2 son comes home again.

Thursday, 1 December 2016

Pay day.

This morning I couldn't face a salad for work so I took 2 toasted marmite sandwiches. I had to eat in the field again but it wasn't quite as cold today. I had to pick a sack and a half of sprouts and then spent all the rest of the day on leeks apart from the last half hour when I was taken dow to wash and pack them. I was still working when the 4 o'clock pips went and apart from that last half hour I was on my own and didn't see another soul except a woman in the distance walking a dog round the field. When I got home my cup of tea was waiting and after that and my bath I feel human again. We had a pasta bake for dinner, it was nice, sausage, leek and a can of tomatoes with a cheese topping. I am shopping tomorrow and then I will marzipan my Christmas cake.

Wednesday, 30 November 2016

Wednesday.

I had to go to work today so i did a load of washing and packed a salad for my lunch with a bottle of water. I had a bowl of porridge, made the bed, dressed in loads of layers and off I went. Everything was frozen so we couldn't get on with harvesting right away, instead we went into the greenhouse and pulled up all the tomato plants and dragged them outside. After that packed some turnips that Andy trimmed yesterday. It was then 10 o'clock so we had our break. By then things had thawed a bit so we  trimmed some celeriac and then I went to pick 120 bunches of carrots. The boss said I had to take my lunch with me so I sat on a box in the middle of the field eating a frosty salad washed down with icy water! I then walked to the leeks and trimmed them till I was picked up at 3 to go down to help wash and pack everything. I don't think I can face salad again tomorrow. I soaked in the bath until I had thawed out and then we had dinner. Sausages, fried onions, fried tomatoes 2 fried eggs and chips.

Tuesday, 29 November 2016

Cold day off.

When I got up it was -4 degrees and our grass was white. I stripped the bed and washed it all then did a second load. I had my bowl of porridge and as soon as the sun was up I hung out my washing. We had a coffee and got ready to go out on our mountain bikes. We rode to Aylsham along the track, it was lovely, cold and crisp, not a cloud in the sky and the track almost to ourselves. It was 32 miles. As soon as we arrived home I got the washing in and it was dry!! We had pilchards and beetroot for lunch and I cooked pork slices with mashed potato, cabbage and gravy for dinner. The track was in perfect condition, there were loads of icy places and when we stopped at the river to watch the swans there was a sudden breeze and all the oak leaves came down like confetti.

Monday.

It was work today so porridge for breakfast and a salad for lunch. It was a chilly day but the sun was lovely. I had to do 72 bunches of carrots, I had to dig them all up because the ground has dried out quite a bit. Then it was leeks till 12.15 when I was taken down to wash and pack them. In the afternoon we had to cover our bed of fennel with fleece because frost is forecast for the next few days. For dinner we had a steak pie with chips and a corn on the cob. Our youngest granddaughter rang up when I got home to have a chat and then passed the phone to her mum so we had a chat as well. No work tomorrow so H and I hope to go out on our bikes.

Sunday.

This morning I stayed in bed till 7.15 and when I came down H had already had his breakfast, made a pot of tea ect. I put on a load of washing and poured myself a cup. No sooner had I drunk it H brought me through a coffee. By that time my washing was done so I went to hang it out only to find it was raining. I came back in and carried on with my housework. When the rain stopped I hung out the washing, it got rained on twice but all got dry in the end. I worked on the garden for a couple of hours and refilled my garden rubbish bin. Well it was then around 11.40 and I realised I had forgotten to have any breakfast!! So I had a banana. I went outside again and carried on with my gardening till it was time to get lunch. We had a nice bowl of homemade soup. This afternoon I wrapped all the Christmas presents I have so far and made a beef casserole for dinner tonight. H rode 65 miles on his turbo trainer.

Panic day

It's been a strange day, we did our weekly shop first thing which came to over £ 100! Came back and had a coffee while I read my magazine and then I began to write my weekly email to my sister in law when the phone rang and it was our daughter who I knew was out on her bike. She rang to say that she and James were at Reepham and his bike had broken so could we go and pick them up. So off we went. When we arrived H, who is a genius, instead of putting the bike into the car to take him home sorted it all out and mended it on the spot. We let them go off, waited a few minutes and then followed them up to check it was still ok.( something to do with the crankshaft). On our way home 2 fallow deer jumped out of the hedge right in front of us and how H missed the second one I will never know. It's it's the closest I have ever been to a live one. When we got. back we had cheese and biscuits for lunch with a pickled onion and some chutney our daughter made. It's pear and raisin and very nice. Well after all this I thought I would write my blog only to find my blogs page had disappeared and as I am not computer literate I had no idea how to get it back. I was then really fed up because I love doing this even though I write a load of rubbish. We had coq au vin with potato croquettes and peas for dinner and then watched ' the 29 steps '. I went upstairs after that to watch Come dancing and Doc Martin. When H came up to bed I came back down and promptly fell asleep on the sofa. I had tried my blog page numerous times before all this to no avail. Well I woke up at 1.17 am cleaned my teeth, just checked once more and there it was!!

Black Friday.

This is the third year my daughter and I have been shopping on this day. I love it, all the hustle and bustle, and everyone seems to have the Christmas spirit. We had a lovely drink, Black Forest chocolate and we shared a mince pie. We then shopped and bought loads of presents it was all fun. We just had sandwiches for lunch with a coke from M & S, finished our shopping and went back to my daughters for a welcome cup of tea, a play with the puppy and to sort our shopping. I waited for my granddaughter to come home from school, saw her homework ect. and then I went home. I left home at 8.16 this morning and arrived back at 4.21 this afternoon,! We walked over 4 miles. For dinner tonight we had spaghetti bolognase and garlic mushrooms with millionaires cheesecake for pud with a bottle of red wine.

Pay day again.

I put on a load of washing, had porridge for breakfast, packed a salad for lunch and went to work. After packing up leeks i went with Andrew and we harvested 2 boxes of parsnips, 5 boxes of carrots and 2 boxes of swedes, we took them to the yard so we could wash and pack them. After that I had to walk back to the top of the field to pick the first sprouts of the season. I had to pick 2 large sacks. From there I walked back to the leeks and trimmed them for the rest of the day. I don't have to go again till Monday. Tomorrow I am going Christmas shopping with my daughter which I am looking forward to, we do it every year and we are ladies who lunch! I forgot to get anything out of the freezer for dinner tonight so we had to have jacket potatoes, baked beans and a fried egg.

Wednesday, 23 November 2016

Back to the grind stone.

Today I took 2 hard boiled eggs and 2 bananas for my eats at work. I had porridge for my breakfast and after making the bed etc. I went to work. I had to pick 48 bunches of carrots and then go to leeks. I trimmed leeks till 12.15 when I was taken down to wash and pack everything. I had my lunch and Andy who is on holiday this week came in to show us his puppy. Its really small. Then I had to go back to the top of the field to pick another 48 bunches of carrots. It was back on leeks after that for the rest of the day. I have to go again tomorrow but the boss said it might only be half a day. For dinner tonight we had pizza and chips.

Tuesday, 22 November 2016

Day off.

It was nice not to have to get up early and we both managed to stay in bed till gone 6.45. I put on a load of washing and made a bowl of porridge for my breakfast. H had a crumpet and a slice of toast. We had a coffee, I hung out the washing and then we got ready to go out. The reason we had to go was because we needed a new tyre on the front left wheel of our car. Our son noticed a bulge in the wall of it on Saturday after we had been out. So while H was getting it fitted I went into the City to do a bit of Christmas shopping. I did well because I bought 7 presents. I also went to the bank and to Holland and Barratt for a few bits and pieces. When I had finished I went to the bus stop to get the bus home. Well I walked up to the stop where I caught the bus last time ( the number is still on the board). I waited for a while but no number 28 ! In the end I asked the queue of people, ' anybody waiting for the 28?' No! So when the next bus came along I asked the driver and he said they have moved it to another place!! So I hurried round to where he said and I was lucky because one had just turned up. We had the rest of the chicken for lunch and I went into m garden to fill my garden rubbish bin. When I came in we had a coffee and I had a shower. For dinner tonight we are having lasagne with grilled tomatoes stuffed with cheese. It's work for me tomorrow,I hope it's less sticky underfoot. My aches and pains have improved quite a bit so I hope I will be fit to walk all day on Friday when my daughter and I do our big Christmas shop. I am looking forward to it, we have a drink and a mince pie almost as soon as we get there and lunch before we come home. That's the best bit.

Monday, 21 November 2016

Monday.

I have not had a very good day. I have a sore leg ( fell over at the weekend.) and working in the mud was really hard work, I was stuck every time I tried to take a step which made it upset my sore ankle even more. The other things that hurt are my arms, I don't know if it's when I smacked them on the floor or if it's when my son and husband took one each and hauled me up! At one point this morning my boss had to haul my leg out of the mud I couldn't move. Then when I went to eat my salad I realised I had forgotten to pack a fork so I had to eat it with my fingers. It poured with rain all morning and at 2.20 the boss said I might as well go home, we had harvested enough of everything and the land is just too wet to walk on. I drove through several floods on the way home.
For dinner tonight we will have left over chicken and some veg. H is just running me a bath because I am cold and wet.
Our son has gone back to London, it must be a horrible wet ride for him. While he was here we played 2 lots of cribbage, we always play the best out of 3. Well we only had to play 2 games each time he really trashed me . I have never had such poor hands and he has never had such good ones.

Sunday, 20 November 2016

Sunday.

I have had a really lazy day. I had porridge for breakfast, and salad for lunch. I didn't have enough washing to make a load so I will do one tomorrow. Son and I went out in the rain to look for chestnuts, I picked several up a few weeks ago and I was sure it was too late and they would all be gone. Well how wrong I was!there were loads. I think I must be the only one picking them up. I put the chicken in the oven, after it had been in for an hour I put some potatoes and sweet potatoes in to roast, I prepared some carrots, cauliflower and broccoli for the top of my pressure cooker and potato and a turnip for the bottom. When they were done I mashed the potatoes and turnip together with a bit of butter and cheated with the batter puddings, I used Aunt Bessie's. Anyway it was all delicious. We had fresh pineapple for pudding. The 2 men are watching Star Trek in 3 D downstairs so I have come upstairs to watch strictly come dancing results.

Saturday 19th

We had a busy day yesterday, first the weekly shop on from there to my butcher where I ordered the Christmas turkey, sausages, sausage meat, fillet steaks etc etc. before buying loads or meat and pies to fill up the freezer. When we got home I sorted everything out and we had a coffee. No 2 son arrived home safely on Thursday evening so we sat and caught up with him and saw all his lovely photos of Rome and Spain before I made a nice salad for lunch. In the afternoon I started a new book and read a couple of chapters before showering ready to go to the dentist for my six monthly check up. All was ok 👌🏻. When I got home I made us all a cup of tea, H had lemon, son had earl grey and I had a nice strong cup of proper tea! We then all got ready to go out for dinner. We met all the rest of our family at the Marsham arms at 6.45 and all had a lovely meal.it was a lovely evening and the time flew by. We left there at just past 10 pm.
Today has also been good, we all laid in till quite late, had our breakfast and then did nothing much till lunch time. I made soup which was nice ,I put a kale leaf in and it came out a really dark green. As soon as we had finished we went straight off to Cley for a walk, it was great and blew away the cobwebs. We had a coffee before returning home and then it was time for me to cook dinner. We had gammon steak, chips, peas and sweet corn. The gammon was delish! I bought 3 steaks yesterday from my butcher and they were enormous, altogether they weighed 2 lbs 12 ozs. I cut them all in half and they were still big enough. We will be able to have them again.

Thursday, 17 November 2016

Pay day again.

I packed a salad and a bottle of tap water, put on a load of washing, made porridge for breakfast and got ready to go to work. First I had to go with Andy and we got 3 boxes of turnips, 20 pieces of celeriac and then he dropped me off on the leeks. I trimmed leeks till he picked me up at 12.15 so I was able to have my lunch in the dry. We washed and packed all we had done and then went back to the top of the

field for 3 boxes of parsnips, 3 boxes of loose carrots, 30 bunches of carrots and then back onto leeks until 3.30 when we went back down to wash it all. We had an awful storm around 2.50 pm with masses of thunder and lightning, and enough hail stones for Andy to build a snowman. For dinner we had a sausage pasta bake which was very tasty. Our no 2 son is coming home this evening,we haven't seen him for ages so we are looking forward to seeing him.

Wednesday, 16 November 2016

Wednesday 16 th

i was busy at work so the day flew by. I had a bowl of porridge for breakfast and packed a salad for coffee break and lunch with my bottle of water. First I had to pick and bunch 4 dozen carrots and then trim leeks. I did 5 boxes when one of the men came to take me down to wash and pack all he and I had done. So we washed turnips, parsnips, fennel, leeks and carrots. Then I had to walk back to the top of the field for a box of beetroot and a box of golden beetroot, another box of leeks and then more bunched carrots. I managed to pick 12 dozen bunches before Andy picked me and all my produce up so we could wash everything and we just managed to get it done by 4 pm which is when I leave off. For dinner tonight we had jacket potatoes, baked beans and some smoked fish. It was a fish I have never heard of before, Basa fillets, but it was very nice. It stayed dry all day in the field but poured all the way home so I was lucky to get away with it.

Tuesday, 15 November 2016

Still Tuesday.

I am so happy with my blog being back that I am writing another. After all my housework I made some flapjack with choc chips ( it's very nice ) and then some vegetable soup for lunch. At 2 pm I went up to have a bit of a workout on the turbo trainer. What a nightmare!! H told me he had put me on a flat course, which I like. I can normally ride about 17/ 18 miles in an hour ( not bad for an old girl of almost 78 ). Well I was working away and it was getting harder and harder when I realised I was climbing a mountain! I was halfway up before H came back in and showed how to turn round! So to cut a long story short I only managed 15.3 miles in my hour and I was too exhausted to go any further. I had a bath waiting for me when I had done and a nice cup of coffee. For dinner tonight we had fish pie with cauliflower and stewed apple and cream for pudding. It's work tomorrow so I will be playing in the mud again.

Tuesday.15th Nov

no work today, great😊I can get on with a bit of housework. I think my blog page has returned,I don't know how or why it went in the first place. I have already done a load of washing and stacked and started the dishwasher. Then I had my porridge for breakfast with a huge mug of tea. Last Tuesday H and I went out to lunch, it was to make us feel better after paying out for our car insurance for the year, today won't be such a nice lunch, salad for me and cheese and pickle sandwich for H. As our weather has been rather wet of late I have been riding on the turbo trainer and it looks as if I will be doing the same this afternoon. I have my Walkman on and listen to the Archers and the afternoon play while I am riding. So the hour goes quickly.

Saturday, 5 November 2016

Saturday.

We both managed to stay in bed till 6 this morning so a nice lay in. After my breakfast of porridge and a huge mug of tea I made the bed, cleaned the kitchen and the downstairs toilet. We had a coffee and I did a load of washing. We then changed into our cycle gear and got ready to meet our daughter and son in law to go for a ride. We were all on our mountain bikes and went " off road " to Reepham station for a coffee and a plate of cheese straws. It was a gloomy morning and when we arrived at the station it poured with rain. We sat inside until it stopped and then rode home again. We were caught in several showers on the way back but were quite sheltered by the trees. We were pleased we went, it's all good exercise and helps to burn calories. When we got home we had a salmon and beetroot sandwich with a cup of soup. This afternoon we sat and watched a cycle race with a glass of wine. For dinner I did a roast chicken with Yorkshire pudding, mashed and roast potatoes, cauliflower, and carrots. I had a bath and read some of my book till it was time for strictly come dancing.

Friday, 4 November 2016

Good news

i weighed myself last Friday just out of interest, because my diet I began last Friday wasn't about loosing weight it is about bringing down my colesterol. Well I weighed myself again this morning after a week of porridge and salads and to my surprise I found I have lost two and a half pounds. I am well pleased. We went shopping this morning but apart from that I don't seem to have done much. I made some vegetable soup for lunch and for dinner tonight we had salmon in puff pastry with chips and peas and for pudding we had a chocolate tart. I hope the weather is better tomorrow because I want to go out on my bike.

Thursday, 3 November 2016

Pay day.

I packed another salad for lunch, did a load of washing and went to work. First I had to pick a box of loose beetroot then 8 dozen bunches of carrots. After that I had to go back to the greenhouse to pick the tomatoes. There were only two boxes. It was leeks then right up till 3.15 when I went down to wash and pack them. I trimmed 9 boxes. When I left off the boss paid me and said he wouldn't need me any more till Monday. When I got home H said he wanted to show me something and to cut a long story short our son in law had been round and laid a new floor in his ' pain cave ', his name for the bedroom that the turbo trainer is in. It looks fabulous and he's made a really good job of it. My washing all got dry so that's a bonus. For dinner tonight we had sausages, liver, fried onions, eggs and chips.

Wednesday, 2 November 2016

Wednesday.

I had to work today so I made myself a salad last night to save myself time this morning I just added some olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I trimmed leeks all morning and then after lunch I washed and packed them, when that was done I had to pick 28 bunches of beetroot and 12 bunches of carrots. I then went back to leeks and managed to trim a couple more boxes before Andy came to pick me up. I did 16 boxes of them all together. We washed and packed the rest of the stuff and it was time for me to go home. For dinner tonight we had chicken curry but I have mine with pasta because I don't like rice. I have to work again tomorrow so I will make myself another salad but not until I have watched Emmerdale.

Tuesday, 1 November 2016

Tuesday off.

It was quite damp this morning so I hung on before hanging out my washing. I had porridge for breakfast with a mug of tea. I did a bit of clearing up and we had a coffee. H ordered a pair of cycle tights from wiggle for me for my birthday next month and had them delivered to a local store, we had a text to say they had arrived so we went to collect them. It was quite a heavy drizzle on the way back and we thought we wouldn't be able to go out on our mountain bikes, but it cleared up a bit so we decided to do a short ride. As we went along it got better so we decided to go a bit further. We got just over 3 miles from home and I got a puncture in my rear wheel so H put my spare tube. On the way back I went chestnutting while H went home for cheese and crackers. When I got back I made some vegetable soup, had a shower and started a new book. For dinner tonight we are having cod in parsley sauce with potato wedges and corn on the cob. Tomorrow I have to work again. I rode 24 miles and when I got home my washing was dry which surprised me because when we were mending my puncture it poured with rain.

Monday, 31 October 2016

Monday.

I had a slice of toast this morning with some tasteless spread on, I must buy some marmalade to jazz it up. I packed a salad for my lunch at work and dressed it with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, it was nice. I had to pick 30 bunches of beetroot, 54 bunches of carrots and then leeks. They came to take me away at 12.30 so we could wash and pack the 8 boxes I had trimmed. After lunch I had to go with Andy and we spent all afternoon planting broard beans. We planted thousands!! They will be ready to harvest in May. When I got home we had a cup of tea and I had a bath and for tea we had jacket potatoes and baked beans. At 7 our daughter and son in law came round because he is laying a floor for us at the weekend and wanted to check our underlay. Because we live in a cul,de sac we have had no trick or treaters so I gave them some of the sweets I bought in case, there are less for me to eat now. I have tomorrow off so we hope to go out on our bikes.

Sunday, 30 October 2016

Almost forgot.

It's 23.36 and I suddenly rembered my blog. I've had a busy day, dusting, vacuuming, cooking and gardening. First I did a load of washing and hung it out, porridge for breakfast and then I made H some sultana buns then I spent a couple of hours cleaning. We had egg sandwiches for lunch and H went up to the ' pain cave ' to ride a race on his turbo. I went out to work in the garden while he did that and I was out there till 3.30, I went out around 12 ! I got the washing in but because it was a bit foggy to start with and there was no wind it was still quite damp. H ran me a bath and I had a long soak, when I came down he had made a pot of tea. I cooked dinner, pork mashed potatoes, Romanesque, cauliflower, leeks and gravy. I went upstairs to watch strictly come dancing results and fell asleep. It's work tommorow so I must get to bed. No 2 son is on holiday in Spain for 3 weeks, he went yesterday and arrived safely,he says it's lovely where he is.

Saturday, 29 October 2016

Another Saturday.

we both managed to stay in bed till 6.45 this morning mind you,I didn't go to bed till 2 am ( I was reading.) I had porridge again but it was better than yesterday's,I made it a bit less runny. H got on and painted a load of door frames while I emptied the dishwasher and sorted the kitchen. We had a coffee and then got ready to go out on our mountain bikes. We went a bit faster today but not as far. ( 22.76 miles off road)  I really love it but it was hard work, worth it though, I burnt almost 700 calories. 😊We had a shower and then lunch, a cheese sandwich and coffee ☕️. I read a bit more this afternoon and made a beef stew for dinner which was very tasty.

Friday, 28 October 2016

Friday.

We both got up at 6 this morning and had our breakfast. I made myself a bowl of porridge which I didn't enjoy, had a cup of tea and put on a load of washing. We also stacked and started the dishwasher. Then I dressed and we went to Asda. When we got home I unpacked, put everything away and we had a coffee. After that I did all my ironing up to date while H vacuumed downstairs. He also painted a door and a radiator before he went on his turbo trainer. I then went into the garden to do some more clearing up. I raked a strip of grass we have at the front and decided it needed reseeeding so I jumped in the car, went to Taverham garden centre to buy a small box of seed. When I went into the store I found they are getting ready for Christmas so I was there for ages. I bought 3 tree baubles, one each for my daughter who I get one for every year, one for my eldest granddaughter and her partner and one for my grandson and his partner. I also got some of my ' special' Christmas cards and a pack of general ones. I love Christmas!!! On the way home I called in at the chemist and bought some blue nail varnish. As soon as I was home I seeded the lawn and worked in the back garden for an hour or so. H called me in at wine o'clock, iwent up for a shower and then cooked dinner. Roast potatoes in goose fat, peas and sweet corn and a steak and ale pie. For pud we had chocolate pudding with a melt in the middle salted caramel middle and ice cream. We had vegetable soup for lunch but I am still feeling hungry.

Thursday, 27 October 2016

Thursday

I have had a lovely day. We had a leisurely breakfast and then a coffee, I hung out my load of washing and read a couple of chapters of my book before getting ready to go out on my mountain bike. We rode to Aylsham along the track and it was lovely. It's almost 33 miles and the sun was out for most of the ride.we had a salmon sandwich for lunch and for dinner tonight we had pasta with tomatoes, sausage, onions etc, it was very tasty. The only downside of today was I had a phone call from the doctors to say my blood results were back and my colesterol is high so they want to prescribe statins for me but I said I don't want to take them. I said I will try to bring it down with diet, so it's porridge for breakfast instead of my lovely buttered toast, semi skimmed milk and loads of salads.

Wednesday, 26 October 2016

Wednesday.

I had to work today and the weather was nice! I picked 72 bunches of carrots, 36 bunches of beetroot,  then I trimmed 5 boxes of leeks and picked 6 boxes of tomatoes. After that I had to plant spring cabbages and rhubarb chard in the greenhouse. It took me till 3.50 and the boss said I could go home. He also said he doesn't need me any more until Monday so I have a lovely long weekend ahead of me. H was pleased when I told him. For dinner tonight we are having pizza, mushrooms and stuffed tomatoes with potato wedges. All the time I was trimming leeks a robin was with me, it sat on my box and didn't even fly off when I threw a leek into it. It kept singing to me and was so lovely.

Tuesday, 25 October 2016

Tuesday 25throots an

It's a day off for me today and we would have liked to go out on our bikes but I have to go to the doctors for blood tests and pressure check etc so there really wasn't enough time. Instead I have been busy in the garden, I am making the path wider by laying bricks either side of the slabs. The bricks that are there have been in for over 25 years so take ages to lift without doing too much damage to roots and bulbs. A few weeks ago I bought 3 packs of bulbs, 2 daffs and 1 of black tulips. I planted a few but had at least a dozen left to plant, now I have somewhere to put them I can't find them!!
I have not written a blog for ages because I lost my page so I am not sure if this is going to work, if anyone who knows me finds this please text to let me know.

Monday, 10 October 2016

Monday

It was 6 degrees when I got up this morning so I put on an extra layer for work today. I packed chicken sandwiches for lunch and off I went. First I had to pick 60 bunches of carrots, then 30 bunches of beetroot and 160 bunches of spring onions. By then it was lunch time and it was pouring with rain so I had to sit in a horrible little tin hut and eat it. After that I had to pick 4 bunches of purple carrots and another 12 bunches of orange ones. After that I had to walk to the leeks and trim them till I was picked up and taken back to the yard to wash and pack everything. It rained on and off all day and it was quite cold at times. I don't have to go again till Wednesday. For dinner we had pizza and corn on the cob. The pizza was really yummy,it was already cut into 6 sections and there were 2 cheese and tomato,2 ham and pineapple and 2 salami, all were delicious, it came from M & S.

Sunday, 9 October 2016

I thought I could never blogg again because my ' ap' disappeared but no 2 son found this page for me so I am still able to write, however it won't print photos. I have had a great weekend, the seaside on Friday with fish and chips, my brother and his wife to dinner yesterday and a really ' chill out ' day today. We didn't have time to have our 3 games of cribbage which was a shame but I forgot to post our results last time. It was one game each and the third game was so close but son won which is probably why I forgot to post it!!! Tomorrow I have to go to work and the forecast is cold for our area  and wet with possible thunderstorms so I won't be looking forward to that.

Friday, 7 October 2016

Day out

It's been a nice day, first we went shopping and when we came back we had a coffee, I read my magazine and after our son had eaten his breakfast we got read and went first to Holt where we all had an espresso in a cafe we had never been in before, it was nice. We then went on to Sheringham for fish and chips. After that we walked down to the sea ( it poured with rain) it was lovely, I am at my happiest when I am by the sea. I just love Bakers and Larners of Holt too. If I was rich I would do all my shopping there. I took a photo of some of their pasta. I bought a large pork pie there and H and I had half each for our tea. Son had a salad.

Thursday, 6 October 2016

Thus

I was really busy at work today so the day flew by. I did yet another load of washing and hung it out, packed marmite sandwiches for lunch and off I went. First I had to pick 30 bunches of beetroot and then trim leeks. I did 10 boxes and walked to the carrots to pick 3 boxes of loose ones. I had no other instructions so I walked to the yard and was told we needed another box and a half of loose carrots, 24 bunches and 12 purple ones. Then 12 bunches of spring onions, we picked up all the leeks I had done and went down to wash everything. I only had time to pack some of it and then it was time for me to go home. When I got home H had made a nice loaf of bread. For dinner tonight we had cod in parsley sauce with new potatoes and cauliflower. No 2 son is coming home tonight.

Wednesday, 5 October 2016

Wednesday

There were only two of us at work today so it was all a mad rush. ( the boss is in France and Andrew was on a gardening job). First I had to help on the cabbages then pick 84 bunches of carrots. After that I had to pick 131 bunches of spring onions, then it was 10 bunches of golden beetroot and 30 bunches of purple beetroot. The onions took ages because they were such a job to clean up. I then had to go to the yard and help with all the washing and packing. I took banana sandwiches for lunch, and for dinner we had burgers, tomatoes, eggs and bread and butter. I have to work again tomorrow but then I have 3 days off.

Tuesday, 4 October 2016

Tuesday

I have had a nice day. I managed to stay in bed till 6.20 and when I came down I put on a load of washing. I had a nice slice of buttered toast for my breakfast with a cup of tea. I hung out the washing and then made H some shortcakes. We had a coffee and then got ready to go out on our mountain bikes. We went along the track as usual but when we got to where the N D R is going to cross the track was closed so we had to turn back and use a bit of the new road before getting back to where we wanted to be. It was a lovely ride, most of it in sunshine. At one point we came to a fallen tree which we managed to get under because it was being held up by a bank. We did 25 and a bit miles. The washing was dry when we got home so I brought it in and we had soup anda buttered crumpet for lunch. This afternoon we watched a cycle race and for dinner tonight we had spaghetti bolognase.

Monday

It was a lovely day at work, I packed a couple of beetroot sandwiches and off I went. I had to have 25 bunches of beetroot, 36 bunches of carrots and 80 bunches of Spring onions. Then I went with Andrew to pick and trim 3 boxes of turnips. By the time we had done all that it was lunch time. After lunch I had to trim leeks all the rest of the afternoon just leaving enough time at the end of the day to wash and pack them.when I got home H had got my washing all dry, I didn't have time to hang it out. For dinner tonight we had breaded cod with potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower . I have got tomorrow off so H and I will be going out on our bikes, hopefully.

Sunday, 2 October 2016

Sunday

I have done nothing much all day. A load of washing, a load of dishes and a short bike ride to buy 2 crabs so we could have crab sandwiches for lunch, then on to the chicken farm for eggs. The crabs were lovely. My washing all got dry, so bonus. We had a steak and onion pie for dinner tonight with new potatoes, carrots and cauliflower. It's work for me tomorrow. I just hate how quickly the nights and mornings are drawing in.

Saturday, 1 October 2016

Saturday.

We managed to lie in bed until ten minuites past six. We then had our breakfast and H watered our new sprouting grass while I sew a couple of buttons on shirts. We had a coffee and H worked on his Spanish homework for half an hour before we had to get ready to meet our daughter and son in law to go for a ride on our bikes. It was a lovely ride to Reepham station along the track and we were treated to a drink and cheese straws before riding back again. On the way there the men left us so they could go for a bit of a burn but we came all the way back together. We were a bit worried about the weather as the forecast was for rain but we had sun most of the way round and it was almost too hot sitting outside the cafe with our drinks. When we got home we had a fried egg sandwich and a coffee. For dinner we had a quiche with new potatoes and cauliflower. Oh, by the way,the rain came here at 2.40 pm.

Hair day

We went shopping and before we went I did a load of washing, put on a loaf of bread and had my breakfast. Before we left the first load of washing finished so I stripped my bed and put on a second load. We then left and were home again by 8.10. We had a coffee and I hung out all the washing and then did a bit of gardening. We had cheese on toast for lunch and then this afternoon I had to go to the hairdressers. Because I knew I wouldn't be back till around 4.30 I cheated with dinner, I bought an Asda ' meal deal ' it's like M & S but there is not as much choice. However it was very nice. We had slow cooked coq au vin with dauphinoise potatoes, to which I added peas, Sicilian lemon cheesecake for pud and a bottle of white wine. I must say it was really lovely.
Today I got my first new £5 note.

Pay day

It was cooler at work today but we didn't get a lot of rain. I had to pick 80 bunches of beetroot and 26 bunches of golden ones. Then it was on to the onions to do 40 bunches of them. After that I went back to the yard and picked tomatoes till lunch time. Then it was back to the top of the field for 84 bunches of carrots, 12 purple bunches and 3 boxes of loose ones. It didn't take long because the boss sent Andy to dig them up for me which meant I also got a lift there and back. I spent the rest of the day back on the tomatoes. When I got home I had a nice cup of tea and our daughter rang. We have arranged to go out together on our mountain bikes on Saturday so that will be nice. I had banana sandwiches for my lunch and for dinner tonight we had giant duck eggs on toast, 2 each, they were really lovely. No work for me tomorrow so we will be shopping.

Wednesday, 28 September 2016

Wednesday

I had to pick onions first 102 bunches then I walked to the leek bed to trim leeks. I did 9 boxes before Andy came to move me onto carrots. 60 bunches of carrots and poor old Andy had to fork them all up and the ground is so hard we could hardly get the fork in. I then had a lift down to the greenhouse to finish the day picking tomatoes. I only had time to pick 2 boxes so I expect I will be back in there tomorrow. I had meat sandwiches for lunch with one of my apples and for dinner tonight we had chicken curry. H had his weekly Spanish lesson today and his teacher sent me a carrot cake. I had a huge slice when I got home and it's very nice, I will be able to take a slice to work tomorrow.

Day off

I have had a nice day. First I didn't get up till 6.30 so a nice lie in. I put on a load of washing and vacuumed all upstairs, had my breakfast and hung out the washing. We then had a cup of coffee and H got my mountain bike out of the garage for me and watered the grass seed on the front lawn which is now sprouting nicely. We each had a banana and got ready to go out on our bikes. It was a lovely ride, 32.92 miles almost all off road. When we came back we had a buttered crumpet and a soup in a cup. We also had an apple. ( we went scrumping while we were out) . It's a tree in a wood that we go to each year. I have just added my and H's ages up and it's 155,soon to be 156 so you are never too old to go scrumping. We felt like naughty kids. We had a bath and then I cooked dinner pork and apple burgers and sausages from our butcher fried eggs and tomatoes with chips it was really yummy and I love the way there is no shrinkage with the burgers and no fat in the pan. No 2 son rang last evening, he had a great weekend away, climbing. He said he will come home the weekend after next but we have just realised we have my brother and his wife coming to dinner so we hope son can change his plans because it will spoil our weekend with him if I am busy cooking and unable to go out. We planned to go to Sheringham next time he is home to look at all the wall paintings and then have fish and chips.

Monday, 26 September 2016

Monday

Spring onions first, 160 bunches then just 15 bunches of beetroot. After that I had to do 2 bunches of purple carrots and 32 bunches of normal carrots. Then I went weeding till 2 pm when I had to walk over to the squash bed and cut loads of boxes of them, I did several boxes fo each sort, butternut, onion, harlequin, crown prince, spaghetti and some yellow and green long stripy ones, I don't know their name. I forgot to get anything out of the freezer for dinner tonight so we had to have pizza that I could cook from frozen, with chips and tomatoes.i don't have to work again till Wednesday so we can lay in tomorrow, bonus.

Sunday, 25 September 2016

Sunday

Not much to write about today. Did a load of washing, got it dry. Collected 134 slugs and snails, dusted throughout cleaned the basins etc. and had a fried egg sandwich for lunch. We watched the cycle race in Belgum, it was pouring with rain and loads fell off. I made a cottage pie for dinner which was nice and now I am going to watch tv. The good news is, my knee is still alright.

Saturday, 24 September 2016

Saturday

We were at the Doctors this morning by 8.25 for our flu' jabs. We were one of the first couples to be called in and were home again by 8.40. We had a coffee and I hung out my washing, H took our mountain bikes out of the garage ready for our ride. He also got his paint out of the garage so he can carry on with his painting of doors on the landing. There are 6 doors, 4 bedroom, 1 bathroom and the airing cupboard. He is painting goth sides so that's equal to 12 doors, so the one he is doing at the moment is 5 down and7 to go. At 10 am we got ready to go out on our bikes. I must say I was dreading it because I haven't been out for 3 weeks because I have had such a bad knee. Well we walked round to the car park at the back of us and offH went, I followed and on my 3 rd push on the pedal with my bad leg I got this searing pain!!! I thought well that's it, there is no way I can ride but there was no sign of H who had gone bombing off expecting me to follow him. Well I thought I had better try to find him even if I had to pedal with one leg. I slowly set off and found that my knee seemed fine and to cut a long story short it is cured!! I think there must have been something slightly out of place and the push on the pedal popped it back. We rode over 23 miles and it's fine I have been wearing a support on my knee for the last 5 days and now I don't need it. We had a shower and our lunch ( corned beef sandwiches and a slice of pineapple.) For dinner tonight we have got Cornish pasties with veg. and apple pie and custard for pudding. I am so happy, I thought I might never be able to cycle again but I can.

Friday, 23 September 2016

Day off

We went shopping first thing and after we had unpacked, had a coffee and I had read my tele' magazine,H went out and cleaned the car. When he had done we both spent some time in the front garden doing a big tidy up. Our neighbours went off in their caravan on Thursday morning so we could get stuck in without stopping to make small talk. It all looks much better. I got all my washing dry again and did quite a bit of clearing up inside as well. At 12.30 we popped down to the Marsham Arms for a coffee and I booked a table for the 18 th of November at 7 pm for 12 people. I went in while H sat in the sun on the patio and waited for me to get the coffees. When I came out he asked me if I had booked it and I said yes for ten people. H said ' no its 12 people' so I counted them up on my fingers and said see it is 10 only for him to point out that I had omitted to add him and myself!!! I went straight back in and changed it. This afternoon we watched a cycle race and opened a bottle of wine. We had a nice dinner of beef in ale with a Welsh rearbit and mustard topping. Potatoes and mushrooms. We had English strawberries and cream for pudding but it will be our last this year, they are not at their best any more but it has been a nice long season.

Thursday, 22 September 2016

Thursday

It was ok at work today, I picked tomatoes till 10 am then I had to pick 50 bunches of beetroot and 12 bunches or golden ones. After that it was 48 bunches of carrots and Andy joined me to pick 3 boxes of loose ones. We went down for lunch after which I was back in the greenhouse for more tomatoes. I thought I was in there for the rest of the day but at 3 pm Andy was back to take me to leeks and we finished trimming the first bed of early ones. We then washed and packed them and it was my home time. We had fish for dinner with cauliflower and mashed potatoes with leek and cheese mixed in, it was nice. No work for me tomorrow so we will be able to go shopping and on Saturday we have our flu' jabs to look forward too.

Wednesday, 21 September 2016

Wednesday

Today I didn't go to work because H had a hospital appointment to get the results of some tests he had ages ago. (His appointments kept getting cancelled ). Well he has had every test under the sun and there is nothing wrong with him. ( but he still gets stomach ache and bloating.) when we got back home he went straight off to his Spanish lesson and I blanched 11 corn on the cob I was given at work, collected 224 slugs and snails, took 2 steaks out of the freezer for tonight's dinner and made a loaf of bread. As soon as he got back, off we went again round to see our daughter in law and give her her birthday card and present. Our son was there too because he has 3 days off, so we saw him too, bonus. When we came home again we had cheese and biscuits with a cup of coffee. Our daughter rang to see how her dad got on and she and I had a long chat. Last evening  no 2 son rang, he had been on a climbing weekend and had a great time. Our steak was so tender and we had it with wedges and tomatoes.

Tuesday

Today I went to work with my knee strapped up and I think it helped. Mind you I told the boss about it today so I did get lots of lifts on the tractor from one job to the next. First I had to pick 200 bunches of onions, I got a bit of help every now and again. Next it was 60 bunches of carrots and 40 bunches of beetroot. We then went to the yard to wash and pack everything. It only left me a little time to cut and box squashes. I took banana sandwiches for lunch and for dinner tonight we had broccoli carrot leek potatoes and chicken pie with gravy. I have got tomorrow off because H has to go to hospital for some results from some previous tests and I want to go with him.

Monday, 19 September 2016

Monday

Work was o k. I had to pick 40 bunches of beetroot, 24 bunches of carrots and then 90 bunches of onions. After that I picked 35 more bunches of onions, 10 bunches of carrots and 4 bunches of purple ones. Then I was taken down to the yard to help wash and pack everything. We had our lunch after which I had to trim leeks till almost the end of the day,I just had time to wash and pack the leeks I had trimmed before coming home. We had fish chips and peas for dinner which were nice. I have to work again tomorrow and have already  been told I need at least 200 bunches of Spring onions.

Sunday, 18 September 2016

Sunday

After breakfast and coffee I went outside into the garden to do a bit of work. I began to cut round the bricks that edge our back lawn. At 10.30 I had to have a break to drive to the garden centre because H didn't have enough seed to cover the front lawn. When I came back I just waited a few minutes for a loaf we were baking to finish so I could put it on a cooling rack and then I worked in the garden again till H called me in for lunch.( dippy eggs ). I went straight back out and finally finished at 4.40 pm. When I came in I had a shower and when I went down a glass of wine was waiting for me. Then it was time for dinner and, would you believe we had pizza for our Sunday meal. It was lovely and took no time at all to heat up. I bought it yesterday from M& S.we had s slice of pineapple and a biscuit for pud. H spread the rest of the seed over the front and gave it a light spray of water to get it started. We finished our bottle of wine and now I will watch ' Countryfile '.

Saturday, 17 September 2016

Saturday

I've had a nice day. We did our weekly shop first thing, came home, had a coffee and then H ran me into the City so I could do a bit of shopping. I bought our daughter in laws birthday present and card, 2 large tubs of peanut butter, a pair of specs for H and a pair for myself. I went into the bank to sort my money out and treated H to a bag of peanut sweets. I caught the bus home and when I arrived back I found H had taken all our front grass off the front lawn.! It was a terrible mess and he has made such a good job of it. The problem was we had an enormous heap of rubbish stuck in front of the house so after a lunch of crumpets and pineapple we went to the garden centre to buy a wheelbarrow. It's the first one we have ever had, we have managed 56 years of marriage barrow less. I went with him and I treated myself to a plant. When we got back we put the barrow together ( it was a flat pack ) and he went straight out and barrowed all the rubbish round to the back and dumped it on the patio to rot down so we can spread it over the garden. We had paella and potato wedges for dinner with strawberries and cream for pud.

A PS from yesterday.

I forgot to mention the best bit of the day!! When I got home from work all wet through and chilly, joy of joys I found that H had done all the ironing for me, it's my most hated thing. I really couldn't believe it, I was so happy. It has made my week.

Friday, 16 September 2016

Friday

I went to work in the wet but it was still warm. I had to pick and bunch 90 bunches of beetroot,60 purple and 30 golden. Then I had to pick tomatoes till I left off. I only worked until 12 because I had a hairdressers appointment at 2 and I was wet and filthy so went home for a shower and to change. When I got to the hairdressers she asked if I wanted the same colour, yes please, so she went out back to mix it, I wondered what was taking so long when she came back only to tell me she had made a massive mistake and mixed the wrong colours and then couldn't remix it because she had used all the base colour. So I had to make another appointment and I will have to go again. We had a cheese and mushroom omelette for tea but we had already had cakes and wine to get over all the hassle of the hairdressers.

Thursday, 15 September 2016

Thursday

My daughter just sent me a text saying she had been so busy and still has to walk the dog so she will ring me tomorrow.( she always rings for a Chat  on Thursdays ) well that was a shock for me! All day I thought it was Wednesday!!! I went to work and had to pick 45 bunches of beetroot first and I golden one. Next it was 50 bunches of carrots and 2 purple ones. The second order was 120 more bunches of carrots and 30 purple ones, then 60 Spring onions. Third order was 10 more bunches of purple carrots and 2 really full boxes of loose carrots. I then went down to the yard and helped to wash and pack it all. All this only left half an hour and I had to cut squashes. I managed to do 10 boxes before hometime. We had a bath and I washed my hair. For dinner we had cod, a jacket potato and baked beans. This is the dog my daughter has to walk, lucky her.

Wednesday, 14 September 2016

Wednesday

A sweltering day at work. It was 19 degrees when I arrived at 8 o'clock and 31.5 degrees when I left off at 4. It has completely drained me. I had to pick 3 boxes of tomatoes first which took an hour and then Spring onions till12.30 when the boss said I could go down for my lunch and get out of the heat for 15 minuites. After that I spent the rest of the day picking runner beans.! Nightmare! I am allergic to them and if I brush up against the leaves I come up in a horrible blister type rash, so I had to cover up completely and it was soooooo hot. The plants are around 8 feet tall so there was no breeze able to get in. We had pizza for tea with grilled tomatoes and mushrooms. I have to go again tomorrow and it's going to be just as hot.

Tuesday, 13 September 2016

Tuesday

Lazy day, a bit of reading, a bit of gardening, a bit of tele, that's it.

Monday, 12 September 2016

Monday

Well, this morning I overslept !! H came in and woke me up at 6.20 and he was only just awake himself. I did a load of washing but it wasn't finished before I left for work so H had to hang it out. I had a slice of toast and a cup of tea, packed my lunch and went to work. I had to pick a box of runner beans first then 20 bunches of beetroot. After that I had to cut broccoli and pack cabbages, then it was on to carrots for  48 bunches and finally Spring onions. When we had finished those we all went down to wash and pack everything so it could be delivered. We had our lunch and then it was back up to the top of the field for 40 more bunches of onions, 2 bunches of purple carrots 10 more bunches of beetroot and the last hour and a bit was spent weeding. It was really much too hot to be stuck in the middle of a field and was still 27.5 when I got home. When I got home I had my cup of tea and a bath before dinner. Neither of us were hungry so we ended up just having a fried egg and fried tomatoes with a slice of bread and butter. I have tomorrow off but I bet I won't be lucky enough to sleep in.!

Sunday, 11 September 2016

Sunday

I had a nice day. It was the usual start to the day, a washing load, a dishwasher load, a pot of tea, a slice of toast, a cup of coffee and a sit in front of the tele' till we were all up and about. Then hanging out the washing and a bit of housework till it was time to go out with S to meet my daughter, son in law, Grandaughter and her friend at Whittlingham park for a walk round the lake with the new puppy, Macey. The weather was perfect and it was a lovely walk. When we got back home I quickly got lunch and sat in the garden in the sun for a while before it was time to prepare dinner. We had roast chicken, sausages, roast and mashed potatoes, carrots ,Romanesque batter puds and gravy. I feel stuffed !!

Saturday, 10 September 2016

Saturday

Because I felt so worn out yesterday I have had a lazy day today. I laid in till 6.10 when I went down, put on a small load of washing and had a slice of toast and butter for my breakfast. Then I put on a mix for a loaf of bread and we had a coffee. We then sat and watched a really old film while we were waiting for our son to get up.  For lunch H had a bacon sandwich and son and I had a salad. After that S and I played our 3 games of crib, he won the first, I won the second but then S beat me in the third by one hole, it was really great fun. He then went to the climbing centre for 3 hours. When he got back we had a cup of tea and while he was in the shower I cooked dinner. Sirloin steaks. Sweet potato wedges.( ordinary spuds for H ) carrots and mushrooms. It was melon for pud but I must say it didn't have a lot of flavour.

Friday, 9 September 2016

Friday

First we went for our weekly shop and then straight on to our butchers. When we came back we had a coffee and I read my new tv magazine.( I always like to know what is going to happen in my soaps because 9 times out of 10 I fall asleep and miss them.) When I had finished we changed to go out on our bikes. We decided to go for a road ride for a change. I don't think it was a good idea, it was so windy and it was too far for me as well. We rode 38 and a bit miles and I had had enough by 30 miles so the last 8 miles were a nightmare, both my hands and feet were dead and when the feeling came back it really hurt, my back was also painful and I have a sore b t m. We had cheese and biscuits for lunch and for our evening meal lasagne with grilled tomatoes and a huge mug of tea. No 2 son is coming home this evening so we are looking forward to that.

Thursday, 8 September 2016

Thursday

It was another busy day at work and hot in the sun. I had to pick 4 boxes of runner beans first then tomatoes. It was really hot in the greenhouse!! I took a salad for my lunch and after I had eaten it the boss said I didn't have to pick any more tomatoes and I had to go with Andy to harvest more things. First we had to pick 2 bunches of purple carrots and 12 orange ones. Then 20 Spring onions, 1 bunch of golden beetroot, 8 fennel,12 beetroot and 4 boxes of leeks. ( so my blister hurts. ) it was 3.20 when we had done that lot so we just had time to wash and pack everything before it was time for me to go home.    I forgot to take anything out of the freezer this morning for dinner tonight so we had to have a make do meal. We had potato wedges, a fried egg, some fried tomatoes and some cod in breadcrumbs that could be cooked from frozen. Anyway it turned out well and we enjoyed it. Tomorrow I have got the day off so we will go shopping.

Wednesday, 7 September 2016

Wednesday

At work today I had to go first to carrots and pick 2 bunches of purple ones and then 60 bunches of orange ones. Then it was 225 bunches of Spring onions. They took ages to do and my list was much longer but by the time I had finished the onions I only had time to pick 36 bunches of purple beetroot and 1 bunch of golden ones. I was also supposed to do runner beans and start on the tomatoes but it was home time so they will have to wait until tomorrow. We had smoked haddock for dinner tonight with jacket potatoes and grilled tomatoes. My washing all got dry again even though it was really dull and we had a bit of drizzle this morning. I have to go to work again tomorrow but I am hoping to get Friday off.

Tuesday, 6 September 2016

Tuesday

It's been a good day, I did my usual load of washing and hung it out, we had our breakfast and I read a couple of chapters of my book while drinking my coffee. We then got ready to go out on our mountain bikes. We went to Aylsham and back and it was a lovely ride. On the way back we stopped at Whitwell  station for a cup of coffee and something to eat. We both had an espresso and a slice of blackberry and red currant tart, it was nice. When we got home we were still hungry so we had a fried egg sandwich and a cup of coffee. The ride is 32 and a bit miles long and most of it is off road so it's good excersize. I got the washing in, all nice and dry again, then did nothing else till it is time for me to cook dinner. We are going to have cod in parsley sauce with broccoli, potatoes, courgette's and runner beans. There was a tree down across the track this morning.

Monday, 5 September 2016

Monday

I had my slice of toast for breakfast, packed 2 beetroot sandwiches for my lunch with my bottle of water and went to work. I had to pick 4 bunches of purple carrots and 60 bunches of orange ones. Then I moved onto beetroot for 20 bunches of them. After that it was down to the runner beans for a couple of boxes of them and finally to leeks. Andrew was already there and had pulled me some piles up to trim. We had to have 6 boxes so we trimmed 3 boxes each. It's the first time I have done any great amount of leeks this season and I have got a nasty blister at the base of my forefinger. For dinner we had a chicken curry which was nice. I have got the day off tomorrow so I am looking forward to that. I forgot to say I finished all my jobs by lunch time and had to weed all afternoon.

Sunday, 4 September 2016

Sun

It's been a nice lazy day for me. We both got up just after 6 am and while I was putting on a load of washing H put on the dishwasher, the kettle and made a pot of tea. We had our breakfast and then a coffee. I hung out the washing, vacuumed upstairs, cleaned the kitchen and downstairs loo before doing a bit of baking. I made H some of his favourite shortcakes and also a ' boiled ' cake which has turned out well and tastes lovely. I had to try a bit just to make sure it was ok before I gave a slice to anybody else. We had cheese and beetroot sandwiches for lunch then I worked for a while in the garden. I came inside when it was time for the tour of Britain. For dinner we had a burger, a sausage, some fried tomatoes, 2 eggs and a slice of bread and butter. For pud we each had a little lemon cheesecake.  It's work for me tomorrow.

Saturday, 3 September 2016

Saturday

We were up at 6.15, had our breakfast, put on a load of washing and a loaf of bread, then we went for our weekly shop. When we got back and had unpacked we had a cup of coffee, I read my new tv magazine and we got ready to go out on our mountain bikes. We had to wait awhile until the loaf was done so I hung out the washing and did a bit of clearing up. We did our usual ride and it was lovely, I enjoyed every minuite of it. When we came back we had kipper fillets with a slice of bread and butter for lunch and a slice of pineapple plus another cup of coffee. In the afternoon we watched the Vuelta with a glass of wine and for dinner we had duck ( again ) potatoes with rosemary and garlic and white kidney beans, strawberries and cream for pud. We had a cup of tea and finished the bottle of wine.

Friday, 2 September 2016

Friday

I went to work with a headache but it soon went when I was out in the fresh air. I had to pick 12 bunches of golden beetroot and 50 bunches of purple ones. After that I spent the rest of the day picking tomatoes. I got 4 trays of large red ones and 9 trays of little sungold ones. I didn't have time to finish them, there are 2 full rows left to pick. We had quiche for dinner this evening with potato wedges and tomatoes topped with cheese.

Really busy again today ! 40 bunches of beetroot first, then 50 of onions. Coffee break and back to work, 84 bunches of carrots and I had to dig them all up, I also had to dig up the24 bunches of purple carrots. It was lunch time then and after that I had to pick another 70 bunches of Spring onions which only left me an hour to work, I was supposed to pick tomatoes but the boss said it was too hot in the glasshouse so I had to weed for an hour instead. Now I have to pick them all tomorrow. We had steak and kidney pie for dinner with broccoli, cabbage new potatoes and gravy. Our daughter went to Blickling hall today and took the new little puppy for a walk , Macy, she is so cute. When they got back home she was worn out. Here is a picture of her in her bed. H says her bed looks a bit big but I think she will grow into it.

Tuesday

When I came downstairs this morning I put on my usual load of washing, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I packed cheese and cucumber sandwiches for my lunch, my bottle of water and went to work. I had to pick just 2 bunches of purple carrots for a customer and then go to Spring onions where I had to pick 155 bunches. They took so long to bunch and clean up I didn't finish them till 12.30. I had to spend the rest of the day weeding which is back breaking work and I had to soak in the bath when I got home so I was able to straighten up again. After that I cooked dinner, cod in batter, peas and chips. It was nice put not as good as the chippy.

Monday, 29 August 2016

Bank holiday Monday

Another nice day for me! After a leisurely breakfast and a nice cup of coffee we got ready to go out on our bikes again. We thought the roads would be busy so we decided to use our mountain bikes along the track again. Well the world and his wife must have the same idea, it was so busy. I hope they all enjoyed it as much as we did. The track is in perfect condition and a joy to ride on. We did 23 and a bit miles. When we came back I made some salmon sandwiches for lunch and we had a slice of water melon. I worked for an hour or so in the garden and then came in to watch the vuelta before having a bath and getting dinner. We had chicken, new potatoes, broard beans, carrots and batter puddings. I have to work tomorrow and for the rest of the week I think. Our eldest Grandaughter  and her boyfriend have moved into their new house together today and we are so proud. We struggled to get our first house 56 years ago but today it is so much harder, so we'll done them.

Sunday

I have had another nice day. I did a load of washing and got it dry. I worked in the garden for a couple of hours and did a load of housework. I made H his favourite shortcakes and we had cheese and biscuits for lunch. We sat all afternoon watching the vuelta which was good. It was in an area of Spain that we have been to twice on our holidays. The mountain climbs are amazing. We had cottage pie for dinner!!( when I planed it and took the mince out of the freezer I thought it was Saturday ) Now we will have our roast tomorrow.
I forgot to say we had a M & S strawberry trifle for pudding, it was very nice.

Saturday

Today has been a lovely day for me. After breakfast we went to Asda to do our weekly shop and then on to B & Q for some bits and pieces that H wanted, I bought 2 packs of daffodil bulbs and 1 pack of ' black ' tulip bulbs. We then went to M & S for a meal deal. I got duck legs, garlic mushrooms and a strawberry trifle plus a bottle of white wine. When we got back home we had a coffee and then changed ready to go out along the track on our mountain bikes. It was a lovely ride and we went really well and were passed by nobody. When we arrived back we had a cheese and tomato sandwich washed down with a pint of cider followed by a large slice of pineapple. Later on we had a coffee and later still a glass of wine. We watched a cycle race, I washed my hair and then I cooked dinner. I am keeping the trifle for tomorrow because we have strawberries and cream tonight. H has been busy boxing in a corner of the dining room where we had masses of wires. He has made a lovely job of it.
