Brexit Friday.

I got up at 6 o’clock, put on a load of washing and then had my breakfast. As soon as I had finished I dressed etc ready for our weekly shop. It was very quiet in Asda so I got everything I wanted in no time at all but when I got to the checkout only one manned one was open!( I refuse to self checkout and do someone out of a job and also they don’t pay me for doing it myself!). Anyway I was the fifth trolly in the queue and I was there for ages. As I began to put my groceries on the conveyor belt they called for more ‘ queue busters’ to man the checkouts, too little too late. When we got home I unpacked and put everything away while H made the coffee. We had a mini apple pie with it. I got the bins in and put them all in the right order round the side of the house. I hung out all the washing, yesterday’s and today’s so I had 2 lines full. At 9.30 H got the bikes out of the garage. I finished the chapter of the book I am reading and went up to change into my cycle gear. I made the bed while I was there. We decided to try Marriotts Way and hoped it wasn’t too muddy. It wasn’t too bad, a bit sticky in places but we weren’t in any hurry we were just enjoying being out in the fresh air and getting some exercise. When we got home I put the bikes back in the garage and got cheese and biscuits for lunch with Branson pickle. We had a coffee with it. I got my washing in and lots of it is dry, just the towels and my thick jumpers still a bit damp. We watched tipping point, and had our baths. I made a beef stew for dinner which was very tasty.

Thursday

I got up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing. I had my breakfast and packed my lunch. I read my book till 7 and then cleaned my teeth, made my bed, dressed and brought the vacuum cleaner downstairs so H could use it. I got ready to go to work. When I arrived the boss had already written me a list. When I had got my plastic gear on I walked to the carrots and picked 30 bunches of purple ones. Next on my list was bunched orange carrots 84 bunches. I did 36 when Andy said there was a change of plan and I had to go with him to wash all the turnips he and Andrew had harvested. When they were washed we had our break and left the boss to bag them up, 20 bags. We had to do 8 boxes of leeks, the other 48 bunches of carrots, a box of beetroot and 10 pieces of celeriac. It was then time for me to go home, the morning flew by. When I got home H made me a coffee and as soon as I had drunk it I washed and changed ready for Louise and Nova to arrive. H had done a good job with the clearing up. Louise went up right away to ride in the pain cave while I played with Nova. We had fun singing nursery rhymes and laughing at great grandad 👴, she thinks he is funny and I think she likes him because they have the same hair style. When they left we watched tipping point, had a bath and then dinner, chicken curry. After our local news I went upstairs for my soaps.

Wednesday.

I got up at 5.55 and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch and read my book till 7 when I cleaned my teeth, dressed, made the bed and got ready to go to work. When I arrived the boss said I had to do bunched carrots and Andy would join me when he had taken a trailer load of rubbish up the field and dumped it on the bonfire 🔥. My list said 12 bunches of purple carrots and 96 bunches of orange carrots 🥕. I had finished the purple ones and done12 bunches of orange ones before Andy turned up.  It’s hard doing them at the moment because the mud sticks tight and I am unable to see if the carrots are good. When they were done we also had to get 2 boxes of loose beetroot. We took everything back to the yard and it was almost 10.30. As soon as I had had my break I had to walk to the leeks and trim them till home. I did 5 boxes. I counted my first box and it had 52 leeks in. I have to go again tomorrow. When I got home H made me a coffee and then he made a bowl of popcorn. I also had 2 slices of corned beef and a banana. I sat and read my book till tipping point. When it was over I had a bath which finally warmed me up, I was frozen all morning. For dinner tonight we had cod in parsley sauce, with potatoes, mushrooms and cauliflower.

Tuesday.

I got up at 5.40 and had porridge for breakfast. I had a cup of tea and read my book till it was light then I hung the washing out and fed the birds. I put the rubbish out and read some tH came down. We were going out on our bikes this morning but it was so cold we changed out minds. So instead we decided to go to Sheringham for lunch. Our no 1 son rang for a chat, he has had a painful neck for years, has just bought a latex pillow and can’t believe it but his neck is better.  We got ready to leave and went first, to Aylsham. We parked at the railway station and we’re going for a coffee but they were closed. They reopen the first or second week in February. We popped to the bank and then carried on to Sheringham. We went to Holland and Barrett, the wool shop, the hardware store and then down to the sea front. The wind was very strong and had a real bite to it. The waves were huge and the tide was in. I didn’t fancy a dip today. We walked back to the chip shop and I had cod, chips, mushy peas and a mug of tea. H had cod, chips, baked beans and a mug of coffee. Then we wandered back to the car and came home again. So I have had a nice day. We had a cup of tea when we got home and watched tipping point before having a bath. We didn’t want any tea but both had some fruit. It’s work for me tomorrow.

Monday.

I got up at 5.50, put on a load of washing and then made a pot of tea and had toast and marmite for breakfast. I packed my lunch, dressed and then read my book till 7 when I made the bed and got ready to go to work. I had to do 36 bunches of carrots and 12 bunches of purple ones. The men joined me before I had finished so they packed them up for me and we all went to leeks because we needed 2 boxes of them. From there we went to celeriac just to harvest 12 pieces. We took everything to the yard , washed and packed it and loaded it all on to the van for the boss to deliver. We all had our break and as soon as we had done we went back into the field got 5 boxes of turnips and then to spend the rest of the morning trimming leeks. We did 14 boxes. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a biscuit with it. I thought I would read my book but I was so tired  💤 I kept falling asleep and dropping it. We watched tipping point, I had a bath and we had dinner, quiche and patatas bravas. I got a nice surprise today, an offer of a luxury manicure next Monday. So I am looking forward to that. No work tomorrow for me.

Sunday, 26 January 2020

Sunday

I got up at 6 and put on a load of washing. I had porridge for breakfast ( unadulterated) and a huge mug of tea. I sat and read my book till H brought me in a coffee. After I had drunk it I made the bed and hung out the washing. We fed the birds, we had 2 robins today instead of one. We were going out on our bikes but it was cold and H didn’t want to go and his legs are still stiff from the 83 miles he did yesterday. I said I really needed a few more miles this week so H said I should do it upstairs. I said I would but I only wanted to do a slow ride after yesterday’s just to help my legs recover. I started off nice and slow but loads of riders kept rushing past me. I hate being passed so in the end I wasn’t much slower than yesterday. I am glad I am off to work tomorrow, I am glad ,I can do with a rest. When I finished I had a shower and we had cheese and pickle sandwiches for lunch. I got the washing in at 2 and did all the ironing up to date. When I had finished H made a bowl of popcorn and we had a glass of wine. For dinner tonight we had ribeye steaks, leeks, mushrooms, tomatoes, cauliflower and garlic bread. Now I am watching dancing on ice with a nice cup of tea.

Saturday, 25 January 2020

Saturday.

I got up just before 6 and made a bowl of porridge for breakfast. Son bought us a huge sack of whey. He said it’s tasteless and it will do us good, he suggested that we stir it into our porridge. He said we should use a scoop and a half. I only used a scoop I thought it would do for starters. Well after my second spoonful I began to gag! It tastes really awful. How anyone would think it has no taste is beyond me! The rest of my porridge was flushed down the toilet. I had a cup of tea and then a coffee. H offered to make me another bowl of porridge but I couldn’t face it. He went up to the pain cave to turbo. He rode 83 miles. While he was doing that I put yesterday’s washing into the tumble dryer and washed the kitchen floor. After I had done a bit of dusting I read a few pages of my book while I had a coffee. Next I prepared some veggies for soup. I used an onion, carrots, sprouts, parsnip, potato and 2 vegetable cubes. When H finished his ride, 83 miles! He had a shower and I turned the soup maker on and by the time he came down the soup was ready. This afternoon we watched an old Titanic film and then I want up to have a ride. I did exactly half the miles that H did, 41.5 miles. When I finished I ran myself  a bath and H made a pot of tea . When I had finished mine I cooked dinner. We had meat balls with leeks, cabbage, mashed potato and gravy. It was tasty. There it nothing I want to see on tele this evening so I am now going to read my book.

Friday, 24 January 2020

Friday.

I got up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and had my breakfast ( toast) . I dressed and got ready to go to Asda. When we got home I unpacked and put everything away while H made a coffee. We had a Belgian bun with it and I read my magazine. When I had done I made the bed and did a bit of clearing up. I took off my nail varnish and redid my nails ready for when I went out to Cawston luncheon club. I met my sister in law there and we had a bit of a catch up. We were useless in the quiz this week and only got 15 out of 20. But one of us on our table won a prize in the raffle. (Not me).when I got home we had a glass of wine. We watched tipping point, had a bath and I cooked dinner. We had jacket potatoes, fish cakes, peas an sweet corn followed by a yogurt and a cup of tea. I came upstairs after that to watch my soaps, I brought up my water bottle to fill in the bathroom only to find the water is off!

Thursday, 23 January 2020

Thursday.

I got up at 5.30 and put yesterday’s washing into the tumble dryer. I had my breakfast, toast and tea again. I took liver out of the freezer for dinner tonight and packed my lunch. I sat and read my book till 7 and then I dressed etc and went to work. I had to do 12 bunches of carrots and 15 bunches of purple ones. Next I had to pick 2 boxes of loose carrots which means I have to wring the tops off. After that Andy joined me, he had been ringing his doctor so he could get an appointment to get someone to look at some lumps on the back of his hand. His appointment was at 10.10 so he didn’t get much work done. We picked 2 boxes of loose beetroot and went down to wash everything. As soon as it was all washed he went off to the docs and I had my break. Next I walked to the leeks and began trimming them. I had done 4 boxes when Andy arrived and he said we needed 5 so we trimmed another one and then went to the parsnips. We harvested 2 boxes of them and then 16 pieces of celeriac. We took it all back to the yard, washed everything and then packed and weighed it plus the stuff we got before break. Andy’s lumps are cysts. When I got home H made me a coffee and I went up to wash and change because our daughter, youngest granddaughter and our great granddaughter were all coming round. Last week the baby had one tooth, this week she has two! She is such a joy. Our daughter spent an hour on the turbo trainer and did 20 miles miles in an hour. When they left we watched tipping point and then I had a bath and washed my hair. When I came down I cooked dinner which was a liver casserole. We had it with mashed potato and cabbage. It’s one of our favourite meals.

Wednesday, 22 January 2020

Wednesday.

I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and toasted my bread for breakfast. I packed my lunch, dressed, made the bed and sat and read my book till it was time for me to go to work. I just managed to finish it. When I got to work I had to pick 12 bunches of purple carrots and 72 bunches of orange ones. Andy was supposed to be coming to help me but he has arthritis which has begun to effect his hands and this morning his left forefinger was completely stiff. He tried to tie a bunch up but he couldn’t do it. So he did loose carrots. When I finished my bunches I helped him to do 2 more box’s of loose ones because he had done 4 and we had to have 6. We went down for our break and when it was over I had to walk back to the top of the field and trim leeks. Andy had to cut some cabbages and kale and then join me. The boss said we had to go down at 12.30 to wash everything. I did 5 boxes of leeks and then Andy arrived and said it was 12 40 when he finished the cabbages so we were late! By the time we had loaded my leeks onto the trailer and driven to the yard it was time for me to go home! I don’t think the boss was very pleased. When I got home H made me a coffee and daughter rang to tell me what time she will be round tomorrow. After my coffee I swept the kitchen floor and wiped all my cupboard doors. We watched tipping point had a bath and I cooked dinner. Chicken curry which was nice. I have to work again tomorrow so I hope Andy’s finger has loosened up by then.

Tuesday, 21 January 2020

Tuesday.

I got up at 6.50 after a great nights sleep and put on a load of washing. I had porridge for breakfast with a mug of tea. H got up at 7.15 and also had porridge. He made us a coffee and after I had cleaned my teeth I dressed and put the meal worms out for the birds. We had another coffee and then I made the bed and while I was upstairs I put sons bed back together after washing everything.  H changed to ride in the pain cave. He did 2 rides one after the other. The first one was 26 miles the second almost as long. When he finished we had our lunch, salmon sandwiches. After that I went up to the dreaded pain cave for a ride. I found it hard today, it was only 6 degrees C but the sun was full on the window and it was so hot. I had the curtains closed and the window wide open but there was no movement of air at all. I did 20.3 miles but my average was only 19.1 m p h. When I finished I had a bath and made a pot of tea. I also made a sausage and onion pie for dinner which was delicious 😋, we had cauliflower with it. Tomorrow I have to work.

Monday, 20 January 2020

Monday.

I got up at 5.30 and had tea and toast for breakfast. I packed my lunch and sorted my work bag, dressed and read my book till it was time for me to get ready to go to work. I had to do just 12 bunches of purple carrots and spend the rest of my time on leeks. I was picked up at coffee break and Andy and I went back to the leeks afterwards. We had to go back to the yard at 12.30 to wash them all. I packed a few and it was my home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a slice of corned beef. But then I spoilt my day by eating 2 biscuits and a slice of Christmas cake. We watched tipping point H ran me a bath and I had a nice soak. When I came down I cooked dinner. We had tomato and bacon quiche with mushrooms and grilled tomatoes. When I got home from work my mouth felt really strange and when I looked in the mirror my lips were very swollen! I don’t know what it is, could be food poisoning, I have taken an antihistamine and I think they are slightly better. Now I will spend all evening drinking loads of water. I have to work again on Wednesday.

Sunday, 19 January 2020

Sunday

I got up at 6 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge 🥣 and had my breakfast. I hung the washing out, put out all the rubbish and fed the birds. We had a coffee and after I had cleaned my teeth I went upstairs to put my cycle gear on and have a turbo. I decided to have a longer steady ride this morning. In the end I did 40. 7 miles average speed 17.5 mph. So I was riding for 2 hours and 19 minutes. When I finished I had a shower and sorted lunch. We shared a large tin of pilchards in tomato sauce with lots of vinegar and a slice of bread and butter. We had a glass of wine and I sat and read my book till it was time for me to get dinner. We had pork with potatoes, cauliflower and sprouts, for pudding we had apple pie. Tomorrow I have to go to work.

Saturday, 18 January 2020

Saturday.

I got up at 5.50 put on a load of washing and made porridge for my breakfast. I hung the washing out when it was done and H made us a coffee. At 9 he went up to turbo, he has joined a 4 hour ride! I planned to go out on my bike so I dressed and got my bike out of the garage. When I went out to do this is was absolutely freezing so I decided not to go out till it warmed up a bit. I made the bed and got on with a bit of housework. At 11am I went outside and it was still really cold so I decided not to go out after all. I went upstairs and told H I would turbo instead. He didn’t finish his ride till one o’clock. I made soup for lunch and by the time I had eaten mine I just didn’t want to ride. I have a bit of a stomach upset, it could be too much liquorice! I just sat and read my book. H rode 83 miles. For dinner tonight we had steak pies with purple sprouting broccoli, carrots and potatoes. I will have to try to have a ride tomorrow.

Friday, 17 January 2020

Friday.

I got up at 5.50 and put on a load of washing. I had tea and toast for breakfast with marmite. I watched ‘ wild earth’ on u tube till 6.30 and then I got ready to go to Asda. It was quite busy in there. I think everyone must have used up all their Christmas leftovers. when we got home I unpacked and put everything away while H made the coffee. We had a little apple pie with it. We both sat and read for a bit and H went up to turbo and as it had brightened up I hung out the washing. I got the bins in and then began to fill the garden rubbish one up again. I was working in the garden for over an hour and H finished his ride so I went in and got lunch. We had a coffee and a sandwich with ham, cheese and tomato, mustard and mayo all in a French stick. I got the washing in and at 2 o’clock I got ready to turbo. I did 20. 3 miles in an hour. It was really hard! I don’t want to do that again in a hurry. I prefer a longer steady ride. When I finished I had a bath, washed my hair and had a glass of wine 🍷.  We watched tipping point and I cooked dinner. We had burgers, sausages, eggs and chips with more French stick. Yogurt for pudding. Plus a nice cup of tea.

Thursday, 16 January 2020

Thursday.

I got up at 5 and put yesterday’s washing into the tumble dryer. I had tea and toast for breakfast and then packed my lunch. I dressed and as soon as H got up I vacuum downstairs, dusted etc, swept the kitchen floor and washed the toilet floor. I got ready and went to work. I had to do 36 bunches of carrots and 10 bunches of purple ones. Next I joined Andrew who had to harvest 6 boxes of loose carrots. When they were done we both joined Andy who was digging up parsnips. When they were done we went back to the yard and washed everything. We had our break, went back and packed and weighed it all and then all went  into the field for 10 boxes of leeks and 45 pieces of celeriac. We just had time to wash and pack them before my home time. When I got  home H said he had just had a message from our daughter to say she was on her way. I had a quick wash and change but they were here before I had time to do my hair. Nova was asleep so daughter went up to change into her cycle gear and get on with her turbo ride. Little Nova woke up, saw me, smiled and yawned and put her little arms up for me to get her out of her car seat. She was as good as gold again and laughing and talking to great grandad. The time passed really quickly. When Daughter had finished, (she rode 20 miles) we had a cup of tea and then went to the garden centre. It’s only a mile up the road from us but when we arrived Nova was already asleep. So I stayed in the car with her and daughter popped in and got the things we both wanted. She then drove me back and went back to Nova’s house in time to give her her bottle. I scrubbed some potatoes for baking and made a nice mince sauce to pour over them. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner which was really tasty.

Wednesday, 15 January 2020

Wednesday

I got up at 5.30 and had my toast and tea. I packed my lump of cheese and a tomato and filled my water bottle. I sat and watched tv till 7 and then I made the bed, cleaned my teeth, dressed and got ready to go to work. Andrew was gardening today so it was just Andy and me. We went to the carrots and picked.120 bunches of orange ones and 24 bunches of purple ones. We took them to the yard and as it was almost 10 o’clock we had our break. After that we washed all the carrots, packed them and carted them to the garage. A and I had to go back into the field and first we picked 3 boxes of purple sprouting broccoli. We went on to the leeks and trimmed 3 boxes of them and finally to the celeriac o harvest 2 boxes of them. We took it all back to the yard , washed and packed it all and it was my home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and I sat and listened to the Archers and the afternoon play. We watched tipping point and had a bath. I cooked dinner, we had fish pie and cauliflower cheese. I have to work again tomorrow, and in the afternoon our daughter is bringing our great granddaughter round so I can look after her while she has a ride on the turbo trainer.

Tuesday, 14 January 2020

Tuesday, M O T day.

I got up this morning at 5.30, made a pot of tea and had marmite on toast for breakfast. H got up at 6 o’clock and after his breakfast he made us both a small cup of coffee. I washed up all the things that can’t go into the dishwasher, wiped all the worktops and put the rubbish out. Next I put a load of mealworms out for the birds and sat and watched the birds flock in to eat them. I read a bit of my book and at 8.45 I dressed etc ready to go to Robinson’s for our cars M O T and service. We had been quoted £215. We left the car there and walked into the City. We went to the bank and then to Rainbow to see if they had groundnut oil. They used to sell it in Asda but they don’t anymore. We use it when we make popcorn, it’s an oil that’s ok on a really high heat. They didn’t have any in Rainbow but the lady in there suggested a stall on the market that would have it and they did. Next we went to Jarrolds for a coffee, while we were in there we were looking at coffee machines and they had a rack of our type of coffee pods. We asked if we could buy any there but the assistant said no but told us of a ‘pop up’ stall in Chapel field that sells them so we walked to there, found it and bought 100 pods. It is really handy because we have only been able to get them on line and as we can’t guantee when we will be in they go to the post office and then we have to collect them from there. I think people are so kind and helpful. From there we went to Biddy’s for afternoon tea, it was a Christmas present from our eldest granddaughter and family. It was really nice and we both enjoyed it. We then wandered back to Robinson’s and our car was done. It passed with flying colours and cost the quoted price only. I think that’s a first, there is normally something that needs doing and our car is 10 years old. When we got home I made a pot of tea and we had the cake with it that we couldn’t eat with our afternoon tea, they packed it up for us to bring home. We watched tipping point, had a bath and I read a bit more till it was time for Emmerdale. I have heard nothing from my boss so it’s work for me tomorrow

Monday, 13 January 2020

Monday.

I got up at 5.10, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast, tea and toast with marmite. I packed my lunch and sat and read my book till 7 am then I dressed, made the bed, sorted my work bag etc and got ready to go. I couldn’t hang out the washing because it was too dark when it was time for me to go. The boss sent me straight to leeks and said the men would pick me up at coffee break. When they did we went to the wash pit and washed the carrots they had done and the leeks I had done, we loaded the bosses van and he went off to deliver and we had our break. When we had done Andrew went off to do somebody’s garden and Andy and I packed up the washed leeks and went back to trim more leeks till it was my home time. When I left off the boss was nowhere to be seen so I left a message with Andy telling him I will see him Wednesday unless I hear from him. When I got home H was on the front lawn with the hose pipe waiting to wash the car! We had a coffee and he went back out. I turned the fire on because I was frozen and had a slice of corned beef. I ate some more of our Christmas nuts , I will be glad when they are all gone. I also had some liquorice all sorts.H had hung the washing out for me, I got it in at 2 and it was dry! He made a loaf of bread and also had an hour on the turbo. We watched tipping point, had a bath, which warmed me up, and then dinner. We had chicken, which also warmed me up.

Sunday, 12 January 2020

Sunday.

I managed to sleep till 6.15! I put on a load of washing and had porridge for my breakfast with a mug of tea. When I had finished H made us both a coffee. When it stopped raining I hung out the washing. At 9 o’clock H went up to turbo while I filled the bird feeders and put out some meal worms. I vacuumed downstairs and swept the kitchen and toilet floors. I wiped all the worktops and kitchen cupboard doors. When H finished his ride he got the bike ready for me so I went up for a ride. I found it hard work today and only did 17.7 in the hour. When I finished we had a coffee and tuna sandwiches. I made the bed and we had a glass of wine. My washing all got dry which is great. When I finished my ride I had a shower. We sat and watched an old film ( twelve monkeys) and then I got dinner. Quiche with cheesy tomatoes and mushrooms. H had yogurt for pudding and I had an orange and an apple. I won’t be able to cycle much next week because I am working tomorrow, taking the car for an m.o.t Tuesday and working Wednesday and Thursday.

Saturday, 11 January 2020

Saturday

I got up just after 5 because I couldn’t sleep. I put on a load of washing and read my book till I heard H moving around then I made a pot of tea and my porridge. We had our breakfast and also a coffee. When it was light I hung the washing out. It was blowing a gale and I used extra peg to hold it all on the line. We were supposed to be going out with our daughter and son in law for a bike ride at 10am but as it was so windy we thought they might ring and cancel. We carried on getting ready and at 9.30  we knew they must be on their way so we changed and went to meet them. They said they kept hanging about in case we rang to cancel! 😄. Anyway we rode 25 and a bit miles, we all enjoyed it but it was very hard work into the wind. I even wore my helmet in case I got blown off. When we got home I put the bikes away and made us a coffee and for lunch we had spaghetti on toast. Also a mince pie. This afternoon we had a glass of wine and for dinner we had roast chicken with roast vegetables and gravy. We sat and watched a Columbo and when it was over I came upstairs to write
my blog and watch midsummer murders.
No 1 son rang this afternoon just to see how we are. He said that he had to go to the doctor last week
It’s the first time he’s seen a doctor for 35 years!

Friday, 10 January 2020

Friday

I got up at 6.15 and had toast for breakfast. As soon as we had finished we got ready and went to Asda. I didn’t seem to get much for my money this week. When we got home we unpacked and put everything away, H made us both a coffee and we had a mince pie with squirty cream on top with it. ( they have got hot cross buns in Asda today ) I expect it will be Easter eggs next week! H went up to turbo and I was going to ride next but I changed my mind, I have ridden for the last 2 days and we are riding with Louise and James tomorrow and I want to be able to keep up with them all. I didn’t sleep very well last night so I feel pretty tired. We had soup for lunch and I made beef stew for dinner. It was very tasty and the meat was really tender. I have spent a lot of today reading my book.

Thursday, 9 January 2020

Thursday.

I got up at5.15 and had porridge for breakfast with a mug of tea. I put on a load of washing, I didn’t have much so it was a good opportunity to wash sons bedding. When it was light I hung it out. It was so windy I had to use extra pegs to hold it on the line. It was a wonderful dry for a change. H came down at 7.45. When he had finished his breakfast he made us a coffee. I made the bed and vacuumed upstairs. At 8.30 I had a ride on the turbo trainer. I just did 1 hour, I wanted to do 20 miles in the hour but I only did 19.7 miles! I must try harder next time! When I finished I just had time for a shower before our daughter came round for a ride. She brought our great granddaughter with her because she was baby sitting and when she went up to ride I took over. It was lovely, she is such a happy little girl, laughing all the while. It’s going to be a regular thing on a Thursday so things are looking up. She can now sit up on her own and she has her first tooth 🦷. She kept talking to great grandad. When they left I read a bit of my book before getting cheese sandwiches for lunch. At 3 o’clock I had to go to the dentist for a scrape and polish. While I was in there H went to the chemist, he saw the pharmacist about his wrist which has been painful for ages. He bought a support strap which will, hopefully, help. He went from there to the post office to collect a parcel and was sitting waiting for me in the car when I came out. We popped in to Tesco’s on our way home for some milk. For dinner tonight we had pizza ( ham and cheese) and cheesy potatoes. After our local news I went upstairs for my soaps.

Wednesday.

I got up at 5.45 and put on a load of washing. I had tea and toast for breakfast. I dressed, made my bed, cleaned my teeth, packed my lunch ( cheese, celery and a bottle of water) and got ready to go to work. I was sent to leeks as soon as I got there and after Andy had dumped off a load of rubbish he joined me. We trimmed them till coffee break. After break I had to walk to carrots to do 48 bunches of orange ones and 12 bunches of purple ones. As soon as they were done I walked back to leeks and trimmed 2 more boxes. Andy came to pick me up and on the way down we trimmed 20 pieces of celeriac. It was then time for me to go home. The boss said he doesn’t need me any more till Monday so I have a nice break. When I got home H made me a coffee and we had a mince pie. At 2 o’clock I got the washing in ( H hung it out for me ) it was damp but drier than when it went out. When I came in I poured us a glass of wine. At 4 o’clock we will watch tipping point, I will have a bath and cook dinner. Tonight we are having spaghetti bolognese. As soon as I have eaten mine I shall go upstairs and watch my soaps.

Tuesday

I got up at 6 and made a bowl of porridge for breakfast with a cup of tea. I sat and read my book till H came down at 7.15. After his breakfast he made us a coffee . He put out some meal worms for the birds and they were gone in seconds! I made the bed and dressed and H went up to turbo. He did 2 short races one after the other. We were going out for a road ride today but I didn’t want to go. I was feeling one degree under. I can’t say I really had anything much wrong, my back aches but that’s nothing new. But I just didn’t feel right. Well I have a cyst on my forehead, I’ve had it for years. A few years ago it became septic, I had antibiotics from the docs but it didn’t clear it up and in the end it burst. I thought that was the end of it but a few months later it began to grow again. Well today it burst again! So that’s probably why I didn’t feel too good this morning! We had a slice of marmite on toast for lunch when H finished his ride and a cup of coffee. At 2 I went up for a ride but thought I had better take it a bit steady. I enjoyed the ride and did 26 miles in an hour and 25 minutes. When I finished I had a shower and H poured me a glass of wine. We watched tipping point and had a cup of tea then I cooked dinner. We had sausages, cauliflower carrots and potatoes. We have eaten more chocolate, nuts and figs. I will be glad when it’s all gone!

Monday.

I got up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing. I had tea and toast for breakfast and packed cheese and cucumber for my lunch with a litre of water. I dressed and made the bed before getting ready to go to work.  I didn’t hang the washing out because it was so dark when I left home I couldn’t see up the garden. When I got to work the boss said he didn’t need much! I had to just pick 12 bunches of purple carrots and then walk to the leeks. We are on a new bed which as far away from the yard as you can get. There are 72 rows. When the men had done what they had to do they came to pick up my leeks and we all went back to the yard to wash and pack everything. The boss was out so Andy had to go delivering. We had our break when we had finished loading the van and after it Andrew went gardening, Andy went off in the van and I walked back to the leeks. Andy joined me after I had trimmed 4 more boxes. We just managed to finish 4 rows so now there are only 68 rows left there now, but we still have one more bed after that. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a mince pie. Then I sat all afternoon eating rubbish off the coffee table, Xmas tree chocolate decorations, figs dates, nuts etc etc. We watched tipping point, had our baths and I cooked dinner. We had a jacket potato, breaded cod and vine tomatoes. No work tomorrow.

Sunday.

I got up at 6.20 after a good nights sleep and put on a load of washing and had a cup of tea. I didn’t fancy porridge so I had 2 cream crackers instead. I hung out the washing when it was done. I pulled a few bits of rubbish out of the garden and when H went up to turbo I dismantled the Christmas tree 🎄 and took it upstairs for H to put in the loft. I took everything else down, cards, tinsel, decorations, door wreath etc etc and packed it all away for another year. I then vacuumed everywhere and dusted. I made the bed and when H finished I made us a coffee. I sat and knitted all afternoon and now I have finished the front and only have to knit 2 straps and sew it up. I did a short turbo ride (12.5 miles.) I made a pot of tes and had a bath. I cooked dinner, we had sausages, chorizo, eggs, bacon, peas and garlic bread. Yogurt for pudding. Tonight I am going to watch dancing on ice but I am going to watch it on plus one because 6 o’clock is too early. Tomorrow I have to go to work.

Saturday

I got up at 630, put on a load of washing and had porridge and a cup of tea for breakfast. I sat and knitted till H got up. When the washing was done I hung it out and also yesterday’s. I began to take down my Christmas decorations and H got the bikes out of the garage. He said we were leaving at 9.25 to meet our daughter and son in law and go for a ride with them in their area for a change, they usually come to us. I made the bed and stripped sons bed as he left last evening. I changed into my cycle gear, filled my water bottle etc and got ready to leave. We took it quite steady riding to theirs and we were almost there when they cycled to meet us. We had a nice ride, it was 20 miles with them and 9 miles on our own. We enjoyed it but H said that there is a lot more traffic in their area than in ours. When we got home I put the bikes away while H made us a coffee.we each also had 4 cream crackers with cheese. I got the washing in at 2pm. It’s not dry but much better than when I put it out. I had a bath and washed my hair then I sat and knitted all afternoon only stopping to make a pot of tea. I only bought the wool yesterday but I have finished the back, knitted a frill and started on the front. It all looks nice so far. I cooked dinner, we had fish pie with cabbage and broccoli. We had melon for dessert and a yogurt. I am going up around 7 to watch something on tv. I checked the tv mag earlier and thought ‘ oh I think I will watch that this evening, it sounds quite good’ but now I can’t remember what it was!

Friday.

I got up at 7.02, I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast, a bowl of porridge and a mug of tea. After that I just sat about waiting for H and son to get up. H was up first at 7.50 and son came down at 9.15. As soon as he was up I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. H made us a coffee and I put all the rubbish out and brought the bin round to the side of the house ready to put out tomorrow. Son and I played cribbage, we always play the best of 3 and we have played  3 sets over the Christmas break and and I had won 2 and son the other. Anyway he won this morning so it was level pegging. At 11am we all got ready and H drove us , first to Sheringham Park, where we went for a walk. Then we drove into Sheringham, parked and went for a pub lunch, and a walk to look at the sea. It was really windy and the waves were huge. I am glad it wasn’t our swim today. We went to Holland and Barrett for some peanut butter and cod liver oil capsules. I also went to the wool shop. On the way home we called in at my butchers so I could get some mince and bacon and son bought a whole load of meat. 20 rashes of bacon, 6 huge thick ribeye steaks, a kilo of beef mince and a half kilo joint of lamb. Next week he is starting a carnivore diet! Our last stop on the way home was at the chemist for my prescription. As soon as we got in I washed my hands and made a pot of tea. Son and I had to have the grand final of the crib championship. I lost the first game and then won the second! We had a third and final game and we were so close all the way round it was scary! But in the end I won!!! I made son a salad for tea, I had a banana and a mince pie. H said he would sort himself something out later as he’s not very hungry. I have had a very nice day.

I had to do 36 bunches of carrots 🥕, 34 bunches of purple carrots and 4 boxes of loose carrots. The men joined me while I was doing the loose ones. We then all went to swedes and trimmed 2 boxes and 2 boxes of celeriac. We took it all to the yard and washed and packed it so the boss and his wife could go delivering. We had our break and then harvested 2 boxes of beetroot, 5 boxes of turnips, 10 boxes of celeriac and 2 more boxes of swedes. We went back to the yard , washed and packed everything and it was time for me to go home. The morning passed by quite quickly. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had it with a mince pie and a banana. Son and H had already had their lunch so I sat and relaxed till it was time to put the meat in the oven. Son went to the climbing centre. I had a bath and prepared the veg to go with our leg of lamb. We had melon for dessert. I am now going to relax and watch my soaps. No more work for me till Monday.

New Year’s Day. 2020. Wednesday.

I got up at 6.15, put on a load of washing and then had my breakfast.(egg on toast) . When H came down we had a coffee and then just sat about till our son got up. As soon as he was I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away, made the bed and put all the rubbish out . H cleaned the car while I did nothing much till it was time to get lunch. Son and I had salad and H had a bacon sandwich. As we were going out to dinner H and I had a bath and at 2.30 we all got ready to leave. We went to our daughters and son in law ‘s. We were welcomed with a drink and 2 excited dogs. We had a lovely meal, roast beef with all the trimmings. It was a huge plate full so before we had dessert we played a game of scrabble. Then we had homemade chocolate cheesecake with cream, it was really delicious. We played a second game of scrabble and at no time at all it was gone 9 o’clock! Our youngest granddaughter was there and the poor girl has dislocated her knee again! She had it all strapped up but she was in a lot of pain.  She really struggles to get up the stairs. Tomorrow I have to go to work.
