I got up at 5.28 and put on a load of washing. I had bell peppers and egg for breakfast. I packed my lunch, dressed, sorted my work bag and then relaxed till it was time for me to go to work. The boss gave me a list which said 10 bunches of beetroot, 36 bunches of carrots and then leeks. I said this isnt too bad and he said thats just the stuff I need for my trip to Wroxham. I did my things and Andy cut greens. When he had done he picked me up and we went to the yard and washed and packed it all and put it in the van for the boss to deliver. We had our break and I started on my second list. 8 bunches of purple carrots, 72 bunches of carrots, 10 boxes of kale and then leeks till home time. Andy joined me on leeks after he had got 2 boxes of parsnips, a box of celeriac and some cabbages. on the way back to the yard we also had to get a box of sprouting broccoli. It rained from ten oclock onwards and it was cold and windy. I was glad to get home. H made me a coffee and I had a biscuit. I just sat all afternoon doing nothing. We had a coffee and I hung out the washing. I emptied the dishwasher, put everything away and then went up and dressed. We popped out to a local shop because H wanted to buy me a birthday card and I wanted a bottle of milk. When we got home we had another coffee and then spent some time outside in the garden. With all the rain and wind we have had lately our arch and wisteria had blown down and all over the path so we had to cut it down. It was all a right mess but we managed to get most of it in our garden bin. When we finished we had soup for lunch and watched a film H had recorded earlier. We had a small glass of wine, watched tipping point, I had a bath and washed my hair before cooking dinner. It was liver casserole with peas and potatoes. H had yogurt for dessert and I had an apple. Thursday

I got up at 4.15! (I thought it was 5.15 ! ) when I got in the kitchen and looked at the clock I realised my mistake and went back to bed. Next time I got up it was 5.50. I had my breakfast, packed my things for work, dressed and got ready to go. We werent as busy as last week thank goodness. I had to do 20 bunches of beetroot,37 bunches of purple carrots and 126 bunches of orange ones. Andy joined me there, Andrew was out gardening again. We went back to the yard picking 2 boxes of black kale on the way. We had our break and afterwards, while the boss and Andy unloaded the trailer I walked to the carrots to pick 5 boxes of loose ones. A. joined me and when they were done we had to go to leeks and have 5 boxes of them too. They took ages because the boss couldnt lift them with the machine because the ground was too wet. He had tried and had got the tractor stuck so poor old Andy had to pull them all up by hand. I tried to pull one up but they were in too tight for me to get out.By the time we had finished them it was almost 12.45 so I laid carrots and beetroot out for washing till it was my home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and I sat and relaxed because I am feeling pretty tired. Luckily I dont have to work again till Monday so its a nice long weekend. WE did our usual things, telly, baths and dinner. We had fish cakes with jacket potatoes and mushy peas. H rode 44 miles today in the pain cave plus a warm up ride.

I packed my banana and cheese and tomato, my bottle of water and some cotton gloves to wear under my rubber ones. I had to pick 30 bunches of beetroot, and then walk to the carrots and bunch them. I had done 108 bunches when the tractor and trailer came to pick me up. I had my break and walked up to the leeks. I trimmed them till 11.50 when Andy came and said we had to be down by 12 oclock to wash and pack everything. So we left the leeks because we had to have some celeriac which we trimmed on the way down. We washed the leeks and celeriac with the machine then I laid out all the carrots and beetroot out on the rack for Andy to wash with the pressure washer. When he had sprayed one side I turned them all over so he could wash the other side. After that I began to pack the leeks but my alarm on my watch went off to tell me it was time to go home. When I got home H made me a coffee and I ate my banana because I forgot to eat it at work. I packed my mid morning break snack and got ready to go to work. When I got there my list was on my chair and all it said was 14 bunches of beetroot then leeks. I did the beetroot first then walked to the leeks. I had trimmed 2 boxes and started on a third when Andy came up on the tractor, helped me finish the box and we had to leave and pick 2 black kale on the way back. When we got to the yard we washed and packed everything so the boss could go delivering. We had our break and then went bsck up the field to work on our second list. When Andy started the tractor it really struggled to start. I had a lift to the carrots where I had to pick 84 bunches of orange ones and 6 bunches of purple ones. Andy joined me towards the end and after that we had to finish the the lifted leeks. We did 6 boxes. It was 12.25 when we got to the edge of the field A slowed down and the tractor stalled! He couldnt get it started again so he had to ring the boss who had to come to us in the big tractor fix a chain to the front of our tractor and tow us to the yard. By the time all this was done it was almoss my home time so i just bagged up the leeks that were already washed and came home. I have got tomorrow off. We had to have a coffee next because it was time for H to go to the pain cave for a ride. I said if the fog didnt lift I would ride upstairs this afternoon. Luckily for me, by about 10.40 the fog was lifting so I got ready to go out on my own. I did 18 and a bit miles on the track going over 2 miles an hour faster than yesterday. When I got home I put my bike away and made us both a coffee and H didnt even know I was home. We had a pot noodle for lunch and I swept and washed the kitcken floor before running the vacum cleaner over the rest of downstairs. As soon as my tea was gone he made me a coffee so I had to drink that as well before I could make and eat my porridge. By the time I had eaten it my washing was done so I hung it out. I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. I started to do a bit of clearing up but H came downstairs all dressed ready to go out on his bike so I dropped everything and went up to get myself ready. We thought we would try the track, we were expecting it to be too wet and muddy in places and detour round the road but it was in really good condition. There were loads of huge trees down since we last rode along there. We had a takeaway coffee at Reepham station, Whitwell station was open as well and both were very busy. We sat outside in the sun and it was lovely. When we got home we had another coffee and a bun. I put the bikes away and put mine in the garage last because if its nice tomorrow I will go again. H is riding upstairs. I got the washing in and I was suprised at how dry it was. There has been no wind but it has been lovely and sunny. As soon as I got home H made me a coffee and I had it with a bun. I sat all afternoon watching La Vuelta and tipping point with a cup of tea. I had a shower and washed my hair. For dinner we had burgers, sausages, tomatoes, eggs and chips, followed by baked apple and ice cream. It was 1 degree when I went to work and tying my bunches of beetroot my fingers were numb. By the time we got to the celeriac I was so warm I had to take my coat off. We dont often work in our jumpers in November. As its Friday already over and I have to work again on Monday its going to be a very short weekend.

Monday

I got up at 4.30 ish because I couldnt sleep. I put on a load of washing and sat and read my book for an hour and then made a pot of tea, had my breakfast and packed my lunch. I watched a bit of news and when it was time I got ready to go to work. we were busy again, my first list was 20 bunches of beetroot, 24 bunches of carrots and then as many leeks as I could manage till the men picked me up. They had harvested celeriac, swedes, caulies, kale, cabbages and broccoli. We took everything to the yard, packed the greens into the van and washed everything else. The boss went off to deliver and we had our break. Andrew went gardening and Andy and I went back to the field to start on our second list.6 bunches of purple carrots, 75 bunches of carrots, 16 celeriac, a box of parsnips and the rest of the morning on leeks. We finished all the lifted leeks and it was time for me to go home. I have to go again on Wednesday. when I got home I was so pleased to find H had hung my washing out for me and it was dry. We had a coffee and a cheese and beetroot sandwich. I sat and read my book after I had done the ironing. We watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner. We had jacket potatoes, corn on the cob and haddock. We wanted to go out on our bikes tomorrow but the forecast is not good. Today in the field the wind was dreadful. At times it was a struggle just to stand up and my eyes are full of grit.

Wet and windy start to November

I got up at 7.20 and put on a load of washing. H was up and had made the tea so I poured a cup. He was going to ride on the turbo trainer so he made us a coffee and went up to the pain cave. When he had gone up I made my porridge and had my breakfast. Next I hung out the washing and emptied the dish washer. I got my bike out of the garage and got ready to go for a ride. I had planned my route which was about 21 miles. As I got to the gate it began to drizzle a bit but I thought it wouldnt be much because the forecast was for no rain. So I carried on but I was getting wet and I couldnt see through my glasses. I sheltered under a Chestnut tree! I carried on to the crab shop and bought myself a crab and the skies opened so I headed fot home. On the way I went on a search for sloes but I couldnt find any! When I got home H had finished his ride so i got us a coffee and then made some vegetable soup for lunch. After lunch I went outside and worked in the garden for about an hour. I came back inside to watch the end of the tour of spain cycle race and made a pot of tea. when the race was over I had a shower and cooked dinner. We had a chicken and leek pie with corn on the cob and potato wedges. We watched a Colombo and then I went upstairs to watch S C D. Tomorrow I am back at work. The weekend has flown by even though I had an extra day.
