I got up at 5.40 but then had to put my clock forward an hour. I put on a load of washing and made a bowl of porridge for breakfast. We had a cup of tea and then a coffee. I dressed and hung out the washing. My daughter had to work today so she left me a mother’s d gift earlier. I have been really good and didn’t peep into the bag at all, mind you she had stuck iit up well. 😄 There was a card, 2 bottles of wine, 1 red 1 white. A box of chocolates and a DVD. ( the others) . How lovely.
Our no 2 son s in Greece but sent me a card and rang me this morning as he was on his way to the rock they were climbing today.
I had a text from no 1 son wishing me happy mother’s d and saying he would be round shortly. My third card, they are all lovely . When he came round he brought me a door stop, it’s a westie and so cute.
When my daughter got home from work she rang me so I have spoken to all my children today,I am so lucky. H and I had a cheese and tomato sandwich and a coffee for lunch. I worked in the garden and cleared up a load of rubbish and when I went in I took the washing in with me . I had a shower and then cooked dinner, we had chicken with potatoes, carrots, and cauliflower.

Saturday
I got up just after 6 and put on a load of washing. I had a slice of toast for breakfast with my cup of tea. When the washing was done I hung it out.H got our bikes out of the garage and then made us a coffee. When I had finished mine I vacuumed all downstairs and then dusted. We were going out with our daughter and son in law this morning so after I had made the bed I got ready to go to meet them on Marriotts Way. We were meeting at 9.30 so H and I last the house, locked up, went out of the back gate and as we got to the car park I realised I hadn’t got my sunglasses on. So I had to go back, unlock the gate unlock the door then lock them all again so I was sure we would be late but as we rode over the field we saw them coming along the track, so it was perfect timing. We had a nice ride, there was very little wind and as we went along the sun came out. We had a drink At Reepham station and then rode home again. Very often the men leave us women and do an extra loop and meet us at the station but today we all stayed together and all did the loop. When we got home H had an egg sandwich and I had a salad. We both had a slice of cake for afters with a coffee. I put my chair out and sat in the garden for a while but the sun didn’t stay out for long and when it went in so did I. We had a bath and for dinner we had quiche with mushrooms, tomatoes and potato wedges.

Friday
I got up at 6.03, put on a load of washing and had marmite on toast for breakfast with a cup of tea. We both got ready to go for our weekly shop and as soon as we got home I unpacked and put everything away while H made the coffee. I read my magazine and then hung the washing out and made the bed. The sun was lovely so we both did a bit of work in the garden. Then I decided to get our sun loungers out of the garage and put them on the back lawn. We had a cup a soup for lunch and H had a banana sandwich. We had a coffee and H went in to watch a cycle race but I still sat outside. I got the washing in and we had a glass of wine. For dinner tonight we had lasagna with cauliflower and broccoli cheese with a lemon cheesecake for pudding. I just remembered, this morning I did a bit of baking and I made a carrot and walnut cake and a dozen choc chip buns which turned out really well. After I had had my bath I noticed you could see strap marks where my sleeves were! The sun must already have quite a bit of power.

Thursday
I got up at 6.17 and made a bowl of porridge for breakfast we also had a mug of tea. H got my bike out of the garage and then made us a coffee. I sat and read my book and H brought me another coffee! We had planned to go out on our bikes at 10 but H changed it to 9.30. So I went up , dressed and made the bed. I put my rear light and water bottle on my bike and we got ready to go. We did 41 miles going to Attlebridge, Swannington, Cawston. Hayden, briston, Hunwell, Holt, Baconsthorpe, Itteringham, Blickling, Cawston and home. We did it in under 3 hours so we were happy we were on our knobbly track tyres too. When we got home I made us a coffee which we had with cheese and biscuits. I put the bikes away, got the washing in and put the bins out ready for tomorrow. We had a bath and I cooked dinner. We had pork chops with potato wedges, cauliflower and purple sprouting broccoli. I washed my hair and caught up with my emails.

Wednesday
I got up at 5.32, made a pot of tea and toasted a slice of bread for my breakfast. I had it with butter and marmite. Next I packed a tomato and a slice of cheese and filled a bottle of water. I sorted my work bag and clothes, dressed and then relaxed till it was time to leave. I had to do carrots first while the men cut caulies. Then we all went down and washed the carrots. It still wasn’t break time so Andrew went off on a gardening job and Andy and I went to the rhubarb and pulled 4 boxes. We took them back to the yard, unloaded the trailer and had our break. When that was done I had to trim leeks. It was an awful job! They had been lifted but had so much soil on the roots I could hardly lift them I had to put my knife down each time so I could use both hands to pull them out! When I got home H made me a coffee which I had with a biscuit. We watched 2 cycle races this afternoon, one in Belgium and the other in Spain. Then it was tipping point and a bath. I have a back ache from pulling up leeks, I hope it’s gone by tomorrow. I cooked dinner and we had a jacket potato with a meat sauce, and our usual yogurt for pudding. I don’t have work again till next Wednesday.

Tuesday.
I got up at 6.20 and put on a load of washing and made a bowl of porridge for breakfast. I had a mug of tea and then a small coffee. When the washing was done I dressed so I could hang it out and when I came back in here was another cup of coffee waiting for me! There was 2 cups of water in my porridge, my mug of tea was a pint, so with the 2 coffees I think if I walked about I think you would be able to hear it all sloshing about! I did a bit of clearing up, made the bed etc and at 10 we got ready to go to Sheringham. We went to Holland and Barrett first and bought 2 litres of peanut butter, one smooth and one crunchy. We took it back to the car because it’s heavy to carry about. Next we went to a wool shop where I bought a ball of wool and then to the hardware shop for a wander round. I bought a pair of gardening gloves and H found a radiator shelf that he has been wanting but he couldn’t remember the length of our rads. We have measured it since coming home so will know next time, we will have to go again soon. From there we walked to the sea and I went for a paddle! Next it was fish and chips, H had beans with his and I had mushy peas, we both had a mug of coffee. Delicious. We were then going to go home after that but as we passed an electrical shop I saw a lovely green microwave and H went in and bought it for me. There is all sorts of things in this colour so when we go again I will get something else. When we got home we had a coffee and a small glass of sloe gin that I made last year, I think it’s quite strong. At tea time we just had a cup of tea and a biscuit because we were still full from lunch. I have had a lovely day. But tomorrow I have to go to work.

Monday
I got up at 7 after a brilliant sleep. My 35 mile bike ride must have worn me out. Our daughter and son in law are back from Hungry, she said it was very nice and would recommend it to anyone. I had porridge and a cup of tea for breakfast and then a coffee. I read some of my book and H went up to turbo. He just did a 45 minute recovery ride. I thought it was a good idea so when he finished I did one as well. It was enough to give us our exercise for the day. I had a quick shower when I finished and we had lunch, corned beef sandwiches. And an instant coffee. After lunch we went round to see our daughter and take her birthday card etc. because she was away for her birthday. She had made a lemon drizzle cake and our youngest granddaughter had made chocolate cornflake nests with mini choc eggs. I had to try both and they were both delicious. We waited for our granddaughter to come home from school so we could see her as well. She is in the middle of her mock exams at the moment but will soon be on the real thing. ☹️ I am glad it’s not me. But she is getting on well so far.
When we got home we watched tipping point and we both had a bath. I didn’t need one as I had already showered but I enjoy my bath. When I had done I made a pot of tea and cooked dinner. We had breaded cod, baked. Potatoes, peas and sweet corn.

H got our bikes out of the garage and made us coffee. I made the bed and read my book for a while before getting ready to go out on my bike with H. We had a great ride on a very hilly course and did 35 miles. We went to Ringland. Lenwade, Whitwell, Reepham, Wood Dalling, Thuring, Briston, Hayden, Cawston, Swannington nd home . When we got back we had lunch, chicken sandwiches with radishes and a coffee. We watched a cycle race on tv and after my bath I cooked dinner. We had yesterday’s leftover chicken and gravy with new potatoes, peas and cauliflower.

Saturday
I got up at 6.10 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and waited for H to get up to slice off my bread. ( last time I cut a slice off I spoilt the shape of the loaf! My slice got wider the lower I went !) We had a coffee and then I cleaned my teeth, dressed etc so I could hang out the washing. Next I made the bed and tidied the bedroom. We had another coffee and H went up to turbo while I vacuumed the house. At 10.30 I went round to our eldest granddaughter to take her the shawl and toy I had knitted and a birthday card for her husband who’s birthday was while they were on their honeymoon in Italy. Because her parents are both in Budapest her young sister and the 2 frenchies were staying there. The frenchies seemed pleased to see me! We had a cup of tea and I was shown all the beautiful baby things they have. I think they are very lucky. When I got home H was still peddling away. When he finished I made some coffee and got cheese, biscuits and pickles for lunch. This afternoon we watched a cycle race in Italy. I had a shower and cooked dinner. We had a roast for a change. Roast chicken, roast and mashed potatoes, cauliflower, carrots and broccoli. We had yogurt for pudding.

Friday
I got up just after 6 and had a slice of toast for my breakfast with a cup of tea. As soon as we were done we got ready to go shopping. I managed to spend about £10 less than last week. I have now got 8 of my 12 Easter eggs. And I haven’t eaten any of them. (So far)! When we got home I unpacked and put everything away and we had a coffee. H went up to turbo but for some reason he couldn’t load the program. I did a bit of housework but then I filed and painted my nails and did my hair ready to go to ‘soup and sandwiches’. I met my sister in law there and her friends and we all had a nice social afternoon. We weren’t very good at the quiz this week, last time we got 18 out of 20 but this week we only got 12 right. There is no meeting in April but there are 2 in May. On the way home I called in at the chemist for my prescription. When I got home H had had no luck with his computer. I made us both a coffee and we watched some cycling. I had a shower and cooked dinner. We had sirloin steaks, new potatoes and sprouting broccoli, it was delicious. H sent a text to our no2 son asking for help with the computer and together they have sorted it out. H is riding as I am writing this. Tomorrow I am going to visit my pregnant Grandaughter who has grown quite a bit since I last saw her! Outwards not upwards.😁

Thursday
I got up at 6.37, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast ( toasted malt loaf.) I had a mug of tea and before I had even started my tea H came in with a cup of coffee! I hung the washing out as soon as it was done but the air felt quite damp so I didn’t think there was much dry out. I sat and read a short story and then I got ready to go out on my bike. H was having a Spanish lesson so I biked with him part of the way and then carried on and went for a ride. I did my hilly ride which is full of climbs. I did 22 miles, part of it was off road which was a bit sticky. When I arrived home H had beaten me to it! I thought I would be home first. We had a coffee and a sandwich. The sun came out when I was halfway round so my washing dried after all. For dinner tonight we had pork and apple burgers, sausages, fried onions, eggs and chips. I had a bath and washed my hair. Our daughter and son in law have gone to Hungry for a short city break in Budapest. They should just about ge there. I am looking forward to seeing the photos.

Wednesday work
I got up at 5.35 after a dreadful night. I just couldn’t sleep. I put on a load of washing and had a slice of toasted malt loaf for breakfast. I packed my lunch ready for work and then relaxed in front of the tv till 7 when I cleaned my teeth, dressed and got ready to go to work. I trimmed leeks till coffee break when Andy took me down to the yard. After our break we washed the leeks but left them in the baskets for me to pack later. I walked back to the leeks and when Andy had pulled 3 boxes of rhubarb he joined me. We finished off the 4 rows that had been lifted and then drove to the carrots where we picked 3 boxes of loose ones. By then in was Andys lunch time so I packed leeks. I did 9 boxes and it was 1 o’clock and my home time. I have to go again next Wednesday. When I got home 🏡 I had a coffee and another slice of bread. I got the washing in at 3, dry and then gardened for an hour before going in to make a pot of tea and watch tipping point. When it was over I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had mackerel with a baked potato, mushrooms and baked beans.

Tuesday
I got up just after 7 again! I put on a load of washing and had my porridge and a mug of tea. H made a whole grain loaf and then our coffee. I went up, made the bed and dressed so I could hang the washing out. When the loaf was done he made another, this time it is a fruit and malt loaf and smells delicious. As I have to work tomorrow I will have a slice of it toasted for my breakfast. H want up to the pain cave and did 40 miles. I worked in the garden and finished clearing my path. When I had done I went in to get lunch but H had already had a sandwich so I made us a cup of instant coffee and I had a slice of cheese and a tomato. Next I went up for a ride and did 24.3 miles av 18.8mph. When I finished I had a shower, watched tipping point and cooked dinner. We had steak pie with potatoes, leeks and cabbage.

Monday
I laid in bed 🛌 till 7.03! I put on a load of washing and made my porridge. H had already made the tea so I had a cup and when I had finished he made the coffee. Next I went up and dressed, made the bed and hung out the washing. There is much less wind this morning and the sun is out.🌞lovely. I took some mince out of the freezer for dinner tonight and also some cooked turkey so we could have turkey sandwiches for lunch. After that I sat and sew up my knitted sheep 🐑 it is really cute. It took quite a while because it all had to be stuffed etc. When I had done I put my jacket on and worked in the garden for a while. I am still clearing the path but I have done 2 thirds now and it looks nice. I went in when it was lunch time and after lunch I changed and had a ride in the pain cave. I did 26.1 miles, my average speed was 18.2 mph. Much slower than yesterday but it was a longer ride and more hilly. When I had done I had a bath and watched tipping point. I cooked dinner which was nice and watched my soaps. H had a ride this evening he only rode for an hour but did over 25 miles!

Sunday
I got up at 7 and put on a load of washing. I had my porridge that I had weighed yesterday and put in the pan ready. ( I have just done the same for tomorrow morning.) we had a cup of tea and after H had shaved and I had dressed we had a coffee and I hung the washing out. H went up to turbo and I found a knitting pattern for a lamb and decided to knit it. When H finished his ride he had a sandwich and a porridge pot. We had a coffee and I had a slice of corned beef and a slice of cheese. I knitted all afternoon while we were watching a cycle race. When the race was over I got ready to turbo, I just needed to do 11 miles so I had done 100 miles this week. I ended up doing 12.1 av 21 mph. One of my fastest rides. I had a shower and then got dinner, we had yesterday’s patty (cold) with potato wedges, peas and sweet corn. H had yogurt for pudding and I had a pear 🍐. I finished knitting my lamb but now I have to sew it up which is the bit I hate. I have sown up the legs and stuffed them but now I have had enough of it for today. So I will continue tomorrow. While I was preparing dinner the phone rang and it was my boss. I was expecting him to say he could manage without me again because I checked my last years diary and I didn’t start back till April. Anyway he asked if I was free. On Wednesday! I said I would go of course, but I would rather be on my bike.
I was busy with my knitting and watching the race and didn’t notice the sky had gone black, when all of a sudden there was a terrific noise outside. It was huge hailstones hitting the plastic cover the builders had put over the brickwork. I rushed outside and got the washing in but it was a bit damp! It would have been dry because you could see where the spots were.

Saturday
I got up at 6:20 and had a slice of leftover pizza for my breakfast! I made a pot of tea and put on a loaf of bread while H made the coffee. I read my magazine and after H had drunk his coffee he went up to ride 62.5 miles on the turbo.. (100 k) while he was upstairs I did the kitchen and toilet floors and washed all the cupboard doors etc. When I had done I made the bed and did all my ironing. When H had finished I made him a coffee and a cheese and beetroot sandwich while I had a salad 🥗
When I had finished mine I went into the garden and began clearing up. I have started to weed the path and have done about a third of it so far. At 2 o’clock I came in and got ready to turbo. I did 21.1 miles in an hour and a minute, I think it was the best ride I have done. As soon as I had finished I made a sausage meat and onion pie I also added a couple of mushrooms. We had it with broccoli, new potatoes and carrots. It was delicious. While it was cooking I had a bath, we had yogurt for pudding. Tomorrow I am having porridge for breakfast and going to try to get my diet back in the grove! It won’t be brilliant because we only ate half my pie and will have the other half tomorrow. I don’t really think pastry is good for me😁. Because it’s Saturday there is nothing only rubbish on tv so I am watching ‘The devil wears Parada ‘ I have not seen it before.

Friday
I got up at 6, stripped the bed and put it all in the washing machine. I had a slice of toast and marmite with a cup of tea for breakfast. As soon as we were done we got ready and went to Asda for our weekly shop. We got back I unpacked and put everything away while H made the coffee. At 9am the double glazing man came round to double check the measurements of the base so they can get stuck in to making the top half of the conservatory and it should be completed sometime in April. No sooner had he left when the lorry arrived to take away the skip so everywhere is looking more tidy. I hung out the washing when the rain stopped and was lucky enough to get it dry again. For lunch H had a cheese sandwich and I had a tomato 🍅 and a slice of cheese 🧀. We both had a coffee ☕️. I then sat and read my book till 1.30 when I went up to turbo in the pain cave, I rode 23.3 miles and my average speed was 18.6 so not bad for an 80 year old woman 👵. When I had finished I had a bath and then made a pot of tea, we had a cup with a square of plain chocolate 🍫. For dinner tonight we had pizza and salad, it was tasty. Tomorrow H is planning to do a long ride on Zwift so I will get stuck into the housework. It’s nice getting the kitchen and toilet floors swept and washed while there is nobody wandering around.

Thursday
I got up at 6 and put on a load of washing. I had porridge for breakfast with a cup of tea. I was going to hang it out but it poured with rain so we had a coffee, I dressed and made the bed. When the rain stopped I hung the washing out. It was blowing a gale so I used loads of pegs and didn’t prop it up , just left it hanging low. As 11 we got ready to go out to lunch. We went to The Walpole Arms because we had a voucher that our son gave us for Christmas. We had a nice meal, H had pigeon breasts for starters and I had cod cheeks! I didn’t even know they had cheeks! They were delicious. H had fish and chips and I had belly pork. We were both too full for a dessert. When we got home again I got my washing in which had all stayed on the line and was dry. I had a bath and washed my hair.and made a pot of tea. We were too full for anything to eat so just had a yogurt.
It was my weigh in today and I am disappointed ☹️, last week I was 134.8 but today I am 135.4.
Tomorrow the man is coming round to check the measurements of the glass needed or the conservatory so they can go ahead.

Wednesday
I got up at 6.10, put on a load of washing and had 2 cream crackers and a tomato for breakfast with a cup of tea. When H got up he made us a coffee and unbolted our side gate ready for the builders. As soon as the washing was done I hung it out. I had to use extra pegs because the wind was so strong. The builders were here and working before 7.45 and completed the job by 11.30. It looks very nice and neat. Hey even swept the grass. Now we have to wait for the glass to be measured up and made etc. It should be sorted in early April. I sat and finished knitting the shawl I have made for my great granddaughter when she is born. It took me under 3 weeks to knit but that’s mainly because I haven’t had any work. When H got home from his Spanish lesson we had our lunch, he had a banana sandwich and a slice of cake with a coffee and I had a banana and a slice of cake. This afternoon H went up to the pain cave for a ride and I walked to the garden centre and the craft shop because I wanted a knitting pattern, I bought 4 and they cost £11 !!! It’s a good job I didn’t want to buy wool as well. It was a 3 mile walk. When I got back I made a pot of tea and then got dinner, chicken curry. I had a bath and now I am going to watch my soaps.
Tuesday, 12 March 2019
Tuesday.
I got up at 6 o’clock and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge and had my breakfast. I made my porridge far too thick! I could almost have eaten it with a knife and fork! I didn’t like it. As soon as my washing was done I hung it out because it was very windy and was going to rain later. H made us a coffee and then unlocked the garage and the side gate ready for the builders. I dressed and made the bed and then began knitting. Only one builder came today, he turned up around 9.15. He finished the brickwork and it looks good. He then began the inner block work but rain stopped play. I got my washing in, all dry about 5 minutes before the rain came. For lunch we had a cup a soup, a banana and a slice of cake. After that H made us a coffee and I went up to turbo. I did 21. 8 miles. It was hard work, I was on the same route as yesterday and I don’t like it very much. When I had done I had a shower and did a few more rows of knitting before I cooked dinner. We had burgers, bacon, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, fries eggs and potato wedges. I am now going to watch my soaps and carry on with my knitting.

Monday.
I got up at 6.20, madca pot of tea, a bowl of porridge and had my breakfast. I hung yesterday’s washing out. ( I didn’t do a load today) . We had a coffee and the builders arrived at 7.30. I did some of my knitting and then made a fruit cake. It’s turned out really well. I took some smoked cod out of the freezer for dinner tonight and made the builders a coffee. I spent an hour doing some housework while H was riding his bike in the pain cave and he still hadn’t finished so I knitted some more. When he finished we had lunch, he had a cheese sandwich and a bowl of cornflakes and I had a slice of corned beef, a tomato and a slice of cheese. I made more coffee for the builders and then went up stairs for a ride myself. I did 23.7 miles. When I had done I made more coffee, we had a cup as well this time with a slice of my fruit cake. Next I had a bath and cooked dinner which was the fish, baked potatoes and mushy peas with mint sauce. I am now going to watch my soaps and knit. I have only got about 12 centimetres left to do but as she rows are so long it will still take a while.
Sunday, 10 March 2019
Wet Sunday.
I got up at 6 o’clock and put on my usual load of washing. I had a cup of tea an decided to try an egg for my breakfast. It’s now 5.50 and there is no sign of any rash yet and I haven’t taken one of the antihistamine tables for 3 days now. 🤞🏻 We had a coffee and then I cleaned my teeth and made the bed etc. Next I did 2 rows of my knitting and H came in with another coffee. At 9.45 I went up, put my cycle gear on and and rode 23.3 miles on the turbo trainer while I listened to the Archers omnibus. So I rode for an hour and a quarter. It was hard work. When I finished I had a shower and we had cheese on toast for lunch. Next I did a few more rows of knitting and our daughter and son in law came round. . When they left we watched a Columbo and had a glass of wine. It’s the last of my Christmas wine and I am not buying any more for a while!! I did a fee more rows of knitting and then cooked dinner. We had chicken with mashed potato, cabbage, carrots and gravy. It’s been raining most of the day and I haven’t been outside the door! Just as I finished this blog my boss rang to say he can manage without me again this coming week so another holiday for me. He will ring again next Sunday.

Saturday
I got up at 6, put on a load of washing and had a hot cross bun with a cup of tea for my breakfast. I sat and knitted till the washing was done and then I hung it out. I dressed and then H got my bike out of the garage so I could pop out and see what condition the track is in because our daughter and son in law were coming round on their bikes and we hoped to bike to Reepham. Unfortunately it was very muddy which also makes it hard work. I only did a mile but I was still messy when I got home. I made the bed and H made us a coffee. He then went up to turbo so I vacuumed the house. When I had done I washed my hands and knitted till lunch time. For lunch H had cheese and biscuits and I had cheese and celery. We had a coffeeand watched a cycle race . When it was over we had a bath and then I cooked dinner. We had steak and kidney pie with green beans, cabbage and potatoes. There is not much I want to see on tv this evening so I will get another inch of my knitting done.
Friday, 8 March 2019
Friday
I got up at 5.55 and put on a load of washing. I had toast for breakfast with a cup of tea. As soon as I had done I got ready to go shopping. When we got back home at 8.02 the builders were already here and working. I unpacked and put everything away and read my magazine before getting everyone a coffee. I started a new ball of wool so my shawl is growing. H went up for a turbo and did 37 miles I hung out the washing. For lunch I had a hot cross bun and a slice of cheese and at 12.30 we left to go to the hairdresser. I had a haircut and she took off over 6 inches, it feels very different. When we got home the builders had gone, they have bricked up half the wall and it looks nice. They won’t be back till Monday and said they hope to finish on Tuesday.
The hairdresser suggested that I use a ‘silver’ shampoo on my hair so I will give it a try. We had a bath and for dinner we had pizza and salad. Daughter rang and if it’s fine tomorrow we are going for a bike ride along the track.

Thursday
I got up at 6.15 and put on a load of washing. I had a cup of tea and a banana for breakfast and we also had a small coffee. I went upstairs and dressed before the builders arrived and I hung out my washing when it was done. This morning was my weight in day and I weigh 134.2 pounds. Last week I weighed 134.8 pounds so I have lost a little more. 😊 It sure is a slow job. However my daughter lost 3 pounds when she was weighed at her slimming club this morning which is great. H went up to turbo and when he finished we had lunch. ( I knitted while he was riding ). We had corned beef and sauce sandwiches with a coffee. I did a few more rows knitting and at 2 o’clock I changed and rode 20.7 miles ( upstairs) . When I finished I had a bath and washed my hair, tomorrow I am going to have about 6 inches cut off it! Next I cooked dinner while H made a pot of tea. We had sausages, bacon, eggs, tomatoes and potato wedges with sauce. The builders have done yet more work on the base of the conservatory. Yesterday there were 2 of them from 7.45 till 4.50 and today there were 3 of them from 7.50 till just gone 3 pm when they had to stop because it was pouring with rain and too wet to mix and lay concrete. I have now come upstairs to watch my soaps and I will knit while I watch.

Wednesday
I got up at 6 and put on a load of washing. I had porridge for breakfast with a cup of tea then a small coffee. I did 2 rows of my knitting and then got ready to turbo. I did 30.7miles av 19.8mph. When I finished H had a ride. The builders arrived this morning. A skip has been put on the front lawn and a huge heap of sand. In the back garden there is a cement mixer and 2 wheelbarrows. In our garage we have a load of cement and a huge roll of membrane. They have dug out the footings so it’s a good start. I hung out the washing when the rain stopped . For lunch we had a cup a soup and H had a cheese sandwich with celery, I had the cheese and celery without the bread. We had a glass of wine and now we have only one bottle left! I knitted all afternoon, I got the washing in, it was till a bit damp but much drier than when I put it out. I had a bath and cooked dinner. We hadbreaded cod for dinner with chips, peas and sweet corn.

Tuesday
I got up at 6.05 put on a load of washing and then made porridge and a pot of tea and had my breakfast. We had a coffee and H washed up all the big things for me. I hung out the washing and he looked at his Spanish homework. His lesson was today rather than tomorrow. When he left I knitted till he came back. We had cheese and biscuits for lunch with pickles and a coffee. I went outside after that and cleared the conservatory space because the builder was coming to have a look. I has just cleared it when he turned up. He said they were coming to lay the base tomorrow but if it’s too wet it will be postponed. It’s only small so won’t take long. H had a turbo and when he was done I did a few miles.(12.3 miles) I had a bath and then cooked dinner, we had a jacket potato with a meat sauce. The sauce was fried onions, mushrooms, sweet corn, peas carrot, red wine, an oxo cube and tomato purée. It was very tasty.

Another grand day out!
I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing. I had a slice of toast and marmite and a mug of tea for breakfast and hung out yesterday’s washing. H made us a coffee and when today’s washing was done I hung it out. I made the bed and then just sat and knitted till our son came down. After he had a coffee and dressed etc.we all got ready to go to Holt. I had to make son a salad for lunch to take with us because he is careful what he eats and knows what is in my salads, no dressings etc. We had a look round the shops and then went to ‘Black Apollo ‘ for coffee. Our son treated us to lunch and we went to Cley for a walk. H decided to stay in the car and study Spanish, he’s not too keen on walking. Son and I had a lovely walk, we saw 2 marsh harriers and a little egret, loads on geese and ducks. We walked down to the sea which was really rough because of the strong wind. Son said shall we have a paddle! I said ok and took off my boots and socks and ran into the sea, well it was more like a hobble because of all the sharp stones! Anyway I got into the sea first, turned round and son was still taking his socks off. The sea was FREEZING! I had to keep paddling with a smile on my face pretending it was great but all the while thinking, if he doesn’t hurry up my toes will drop off. Well it was worth it to see the look of horror when he finally got in😂 the week before last he was swimming in the med. We dried our feet, put our shoes and socks back on and and carried on with our walk. When we got home we had a cup of tea, a bath and I cooked dinner. We had steak, chips, mushrooms, broccoli, and mixed peppers. Our son then got ready and left to go home. I have finished my second ball of wool so now I only have 5 more to do!!

Sunday
I got up at 6.50 and put on a load of washing. I had a cup of tea and a slice of toast for breakfast. H and I had a coffee and at 8 o’clock our son came down all showered and dressed ready to go climbing. He just had a coffee and off he went. He took a change of clothing with him because we have been invited to H’s sisters for lunch and he is going straight there from the climbing centre. I tumbled yesterday’s washing and did a few rows of my knitting. At 11.30 we got ready and left to go to Dots. We all had a most enjoyable lunch and afternoon and didn’t get home till 6.45. I then made a couple of salads for son and Me and a mutton sandwich for H. I then watched dancing on ice on plus one tv because I had missed the earlier one.

Saturday
I got up at 6.05 and put on a load of washing. H had already made a pot of tea so I had a cup before making my porridge.we had a coffee and I just sat and knitted quietly so I did not disturb our son. When he came down I got on with some housework and at 9.45 he and I got ready to go out on our bikes. We had a good ride just going to Reepham station 🚉 for a coffee and then coming home again. I struggled to keep up with him but when we got home I realised why! When e got home he had got 15 achievements many of which were for his fastest time on a segment of the ride, and all of which we have done many times before. As soon as we got he hosed our bikes down (they were pretty muddy) while I prepared lunch. Son and I had salad and H had a bacon sandwich. This afternoon we all watched a cycle race and then I cooked dinner we had roast lamb, it was a huge joint from my butcher. I old him I didn’t know much about lamb but when I was a little girl I used to I used to go to the butchers for my mum with our ration books and coupons. I always had to ask for a shoulder of lamb please, blade end. So he said would you like that then, so I said yes. Well! Talk about bringing back happy memories, it smelled, looked and tasted just as I always remembered it.
Sometimes when you remember something and try it after a lot of years it’s a bit disappointing but not this it was so good, the skin crisped up to perfection. Son is now on a diet where he does not eat anything that grows below ground so no potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes or parsnips etc. I did broccoli, peas, cauliflower, sprouts, carrots and potatoes but he had it all except the spuds and carrots. When I had finished my dinner I had a bath and now I am going to knit.

Friday 1st March
I got up just after 6 and put on a load of washing. H sliced me some bread and I had tea and toast for breakfast. As soon as I had finished we got ready to go to Asda when we left there we drove to our butchers because our no 2 son is coming home this evening for the weekend and I wanted some proper bacon that doesn’t leek white salty water all over the pan. While I was there I also got 3 nice sirloin steaks and a huge shoulder of lamb. I also bought 6 pots and apple burgers for the freezer, 2 sausage rolls for our lunch and a chicken and chorizo lasagna for dinner tonight while we had with sweet corn and peas. I have had a lazy day for a change and have spent most of it knitting. The shawl is going to take 700 grams of wool and I have now used one so I have done a seventh of it. I bought the wool last Friday so if I am lucky I might finish it in another 6 weeks.
