Monday work.

I got up at 5.40 and put on a load of washing before making a pot of tea, cooking 2 eggs and having my breakfast. I packed my work snack, cherry tomatoes and cheese with a bottle of water. I sorted my work bag and checked I had gloves, socks ect. and got ready to go to work. I was sent straight to carrots and had to do 84 bunches. I had done 48 before the men turned up plus a box of loose ones. On the way back to the yard we had to trim a box of celeriac plus 13 pieces. When we got to the yard we had to wash the carrots and celeriac so the boss could go out on his deliveries. We had our break and then we were all back up the field in freezing gale force winds. we harvested a box of kale, a box of parsnips and then spent the rest of the morning on leeks. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a banana. I made son a salad for his lunch and relaxed with my book till tipping point. When it was over I had a bath and cooked dinner. Cottage pie with cabbage and broccoli. yesterday son beat me at crib 2-0 so even though he was leaving straight after dinner tonight we had to play again to see who was the overall champ for the weekend and it was me!!! iI won 2-1. I have to work again on Wednesday. My face is red and burning as if I have been in the sun too long but it was thad dreadful wind.

Sunday

I didnt get up till 8 oclock, very late for me! I had eggs and a cup of tea for breakfast. We had a coffee and I read my book till son came down. H and I were going out on our bikes but after yesterdays ride he was up all night coughing. As today is colder I didnt think breathing it in would do him any good so I said I would go on my own. I was riding along the track and saw a couple riding towards me, making hand signals for me to stop. I thought perhaps they were going to say there was a tree down ahead after yesterdays wind or something but when I stopped it turned out to be my daughter and her husband! What a nice suprise!He really wanted to go but I think he was relived that he didnt have to. I got ready and went.Son didnt want to go with me because he was going climbing this afternoon. I did 19 and a bit miles, I have only done just over 260 miles this month, last year I rode over 400 miles in January.When I got home I made us a coffee and fixed son a salad. After lunch he went off to the climbing centreand was there till it closed at 6 oclock. H and I had a glass of wine and later a cup of tea. We had our baths and I cooked dinner. It was duck with leeks, carrots, cabbage and gravy. Last night son and I played cribbage and I won 2 games to 1. I also beat H at scrabble (which is very rare) so I am on a roll. tomorrow I am at work

Saturday

I got up at 2 minuits to 7 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and cooked 2 eggs for my breakfast. When the washing was done I hung it out and yesterdays as well. It was so windy I had to put extra pegs on everything it was so windy. H and I got the 3 bikes out of the garage and then we had a coffee and I read my book till son came down. I got the steaks out of the freezer for dinner tonight. We all got ready to go for a ride. As it was so windy we rode on the track which is more sheltered and you cant get blown into the parh of a car. There was a load of debris on the track with small branches all over the place. We went to the cafe where H and I had cake, he had chocolate and I had carrot. We all had coffee but son didnt have any cake because he is on a diet! He has more will power than me. We did over 20 miles so we had our exersize for the day. When we got home we put the bikes away and I got lunch. Son had his usual salad and H and I had cream crackers with cheese, patte and black olives washed down with a coffee and later a glass of wine. I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had rib eye steak with fried onions and leeks, mushrooms, and broccoli. The men are going to watch some ganster thing to I have come upstairs to watch a Midsomer murders.

Friday

I got up at oclock and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and H came down. He cut 2 slices of bread off and we both had toast for breakfast. He put the bins out and as soon as I had mmy breakfastI dressed etc and went shopping. I went on my own and it took less than an hour. When I got home we unpacked and put everything away and H made us a coffee. I sat and read my magazine. We were going out on our bikes but it was freezing and foggy so we changed our mindsIt wouldnt have done us any good breathing that air in. Also we had a message last night saying our youngest son is coming home this evening for the weekend and going back Monday evening, so we know we will be cycling over the weekend. At 11 we had another coffee and I went into the garden for 2 and a bit hours. I spent the whole time cutting off dead bits of plants and weeding but its not looking much better! When I went in I had a banana for lunch and poured us each a glass of wine. I read some of my book and we watched tipping point, had our baths and I washed my hair. For dinner we had soup with crutons and ice cream for pud.

Thursday.

I got up at 6.40 so a bit of a lay in. I made a pot of tea, cooked 2 eggs and was just about to have my breakfast when I remembered its the day I am weighing myself. I weigh 139.4 lbs. Just under 10 stone! Last year on this day I weighed 139.6 lbs !!So I have been slimming all year and ended up loseing .2of a pound! Happy days. I had my breakfast and when H got up he made the coffee. Next I washed and dressed and did a bit of clearing up, sweeping the kitchen floor etc. Today H was having a " skype " spanish lesson so when it was almost time for it we had an instant coffee and I got ready to go out for a little ride while he was busy. First I went to the surgery to put my prescription and then I did a short ride along the track. The sun was beautiful but the wind was horrible, head wind all the way out so tail all the way back. When I got home H had finished his lesson and said he wanted a gin and tonic. I had a banana and as I didnt want him to drink alone I thought I had better have one too. ( Well thats my excuse).This afternoon I started a new book, we watched tipping point,had our baths and I cooked dinner. We had fry light chivken and chips. yummy and not too fattening, although I did also eat Hs crispy skin off his chicken as well as mine.

Wednesday work.

I got up at 5.40 and put on the tumble drier. I made a pot of tea and cooked 2eggs for my breakfast. I packed cheese and tomatoes with my bottle of water and read my book till it was time to get ready for work. I had to go with Andy and we had to pick and bunch carrots. (Andrew was sent out on a gardening job) The boss said we could have up to 12 dozen bunches but we only managed 11 dozen bunches! They are getting slow to do, but we also had 4 boxes of loose ones which fell off the stalks. We had our break and then had to both go and pick curly kale we had to have 13 boxes and when they were done I had to walk to leeks and trim them for the rest of the morning,Andy had to cut cabbages and cauliflowersand then join me on leeks till it was time for me to go home. I dont have to go again till Monday. When I got home H made me a hot chocolate and I had a banana. I had a splitting headache and my legs ache and my hands are so painfull! Thank goodness I have 4 days off. When my headache got better we had a G&T, watched tipping point and I had a bath. I cooked dinner next, we had salmon with jacket potatoes and grilled cherry tomatoes.

Tuesday.

I got up at 7 oclock. A good sleep for me. I put on a load of washing and by the time I had done that H, who was up and had made the tea, poured me a cup. We had a coffee and I made a bowl of porridge for breakfast with a dollop of jam. I sat and read a bit of my book and at 10.30 we had an instant coffee and I went outside to do a bit of gardening. I cut all the leaves off all my hellebores which took well over an hour! I cant wait to retire so I can spend a lot of time working in the garden. Its looking a right mess at the moment and will take me months to sort out. I am looking forward to the challenge. For lunch we had a cuppa soup and cream crackers and cheese.I read more of my book this afternoon, we watched tipping point, had a shower and dinner. Chicken pie with cauliflower cheese with leek, yummy. This morning H got a phone call from the hospital with an appointment for his heart echo scan. We are so pleased, the doctor refered him to the hospital in August so its been a 6 month wait for an appointment! Its in Febuary. Tomorrow I have to work.

Monday work

I got up at 5.10 and put on a load of washing. I had eggs for breakfast with a mug of tea. I packed cheese and cherry tomatoes with my bottle of water. I read a bit of my book until it was time to go to work. I had to go straight to carrots and pick 84 bunches. I had done 60 bunches when the men joined me. We also picked a box of loose carrots. We went back to the yard and I laid the bunched carrots out on the rack for Andrew to wash them with the pressure washer. When he had washed one side i turned them over so he could wash the other side and as soon as they were done I packed them up to the boss could deliver. Next we had our break and I had to trim leeks. The 2 men had to dig up 2 boxes of parsnips and then join me. We did 14 boxes and went back to the yard to wash everything. It was my home time and the boss said see you Wednesday as I walked to my car. When I got home H made me a hot chocolate and I had a banana. I also had a slice of corned beef and a mince pie. We watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner, fish and chips. H says I can lay in tomorrow for as long as I want.

Sunday.

I got up at 6.50 and had eggs for breakfast. H had prunes with plain yogurt, and peanut butter and honey on toast. We both had a cup of tea and a little later a small coffee. I read my diary for last year and it said I had cut my hair si I thought I would do it again. Last year I cut off 3 inches but today I only cut 2 inches off. H said we would go out on our bikes at 11 when it had warmed up a bit. He put on a loaf of bread while I got the bikes out of the garage. we really wanted to go out on our bikes because we were trying to run the e bikes battery down so we could tell how many miles he can do when its fully charged. It didnt get any warmer but we decided to go anyway so we put our cycle gear on and went. We did 24.8 miles. It was dull and damp. ( 4 degrees ) I had to work hard so I was warm enough but as H doesnt have to put much effot in he was feeling cold by the time we got home. He is charging his battery now but he had managed 58.1 miles on 1 charge.The battery wasnt compleatly empty so he says we can easily ride 60 miles! Very funny! I cant remember how many years it is since I rode 60 miles and I am not doing it again at my age. When we got home we had a coffee, cream crackers and cheese and a slice of Christmas cake. Later on we had a glass of wine and our baths. Dinner was quiche with potato wedges, mushrooms, and tomatoes washed down with a cup of tea. Now I am watching D O I. Its work for me tomorrow.

Saturday

I got up at 7.10. I made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge and had my breakfast. When H came down we had a coffee and we got the bikes out again. When I went outside to get the bin in it was only 3 degrees but there wasnt a breath of wind and it felt so much better than yesterday so we decided we would be going out. I emptied the dishwasher and also took all the rubbish out. Anyway we got ready and started off along the track which was pretty wet in places and very icy in the shade. I rode over some puddles and the ice didnt even crack! We went as far as Whitwell station on the track where we got on the road and went to Reepham and home on the roadvia Booton, Cawston and Felthorpe. It was a nice ride, trying out all H's gears and levels and all the different combinations. We did almost 19 miles. While we were out we saw 4 buzzards, 1on its own and the other 3 all flying together and making a lot of noise. We also saw a kestril and found a huge dead goose on the side of the road. We stopped and I picked it up and had a look at it. It was really heavy and something had eaten alf its neck away so i carried it into the field and laid it there so it wasnt run over and I expect a fox will find it. When we got home H cleaned the bikes while I got lunch. We had cheese on toast with cherry tomatoes and a cup of coffee. H went in the garage and put a new mec on his bike, we had a glass of wine, watched tipping point and had our baths and then dinner. We had pizza with a side salad and a mug of tea. We watched a film and I went upstairs to watch a goggle box. Its been a good day.

Freezing Friday

I got up at 5.40, put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea. H got up at 6.15 sliced off some btead and we had toast for breakfast. We went and did our weekly shopas usual and when we got home we had a coffee and a cake. I read my magazine and then hung out the washing. We wanted to go out on our bikes and H got them out of the garage but it was so cold we decided not to go. We are hoping its a bit warmer tomorrow. Breathing in that freezing air wouldnt have helped H's lungs at all. We had another coffee and I did the ironing. For lunch we had french stick with a cheese and ham filling and crisps on the side. This afternoon we watched a film, a new version of Great Expectations. When it was over we watched tipping point, had our baths and I washed my hair. dinner was nice Thi curry.

Thursday

I got up at 7.20 and put on a load of washing. I had eggs for breakfast with a mug of tea. We had a coffee and when I had drunk mine I dressed and got on with the housework. I got on well and had done all I had wanted to do by lunch time. Vacumed all downstairs,washed kitchen and toilet floors,cleaned both sinks and cupboards and worktops, dusted the hall, dining room and lounge and also polished.We had soup for lunch and for dinner we had a chicken and leek pie with cauliflower cheese. It was very tasty. This afternoon our daughter, 2 granddaughters, great granddaughter and great grandson all came round. It was great. Great granddaughter came in and asked for blue ice cream!I didnt have any. She had some chocolate buttons but wanted another snack! When her auntie arrived she had bought her a pretty water bottle with a straw. When she gave it to her she said "not another one"! She is a funny little girl. She told great grandad she wanted to watch cats doing funny things on u tube! She is only two and a half. Her brother is 10 weeks old so he is no trouble at all.

Wednesday work.

I got up at 5.35, put on a load of washing and had 2 fried eggs for breakfast with a pint mug of tea. I packed a slice of cheese and a tomato with my bottle of water, dressed and got ready to go to work. I hung out the washing before I left. When I got to work all the trees in front of where I park my car had been cut down! ( the boss has a wood burner) It looked so different. I had to go to carrots. Addy joined me after he had cut the cauliflowers, Andrew was out gardening. We had to have 144 bunches and a box of loose ones. It took us till 10.15! In the summer we could each pick up to 90 bunches an hour but the work is so much harder in the winter when the soil is stuck fast to the carrots and the tops are so weak they keep falling off. After break I had to walk to leeks and trim them till home time, just getting a box of celeriac. Once again Andy had joined me but only for the last 10 minuites. When I left off the boss said he doesnt need me any more till Monday, bonus. When I got home H made me a coffee and we had a hot mince pie with brandy butter. I started a new book and read the first two chapters. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. It was yesterdays left over chicken stew so easy for me. I got my washing in and have hung it on the airer because its not too bad. I had a message from our daughter asking if we would be home tomorrow, yes,so i had a second text saying 'they' will pop round tomorrow afternoon. They, will be daughter, one or two granddaughters, our great granddaughter and our great grandson who we have only seen once. I am so looking forward to it.

Tuesday.

I didnt get up 8.45! I hung yesterdays washing out and made a bowl of porridge for my breakfast. We had a coffee and H went outside to fiddle with his bike, as soon as son had finished his breakfast and dressed, he joined him. While they were outside I vacumed all downstairs, washed up made a stew for dinner tonight with Sundays leftover chicken. Next I made son his usual salad for lunch and we had a coffee. I settled down to read my book and they came in and said we were going out for a bike ride to try out the e bike because they had been working on it and done a few adjustments to make it run more smoothly. I put my cycle gear on and off we went. It was just a short ride because son had to leave this afternoon to get back to his so he was ready for work tomorrow. We did almost 15 miles and H enjoyed his ride. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. Last night son and I played crib and I won 2/1 again. So the weekend was mine and I won overall 3 nights to 1. Tomorrow I have to work.

Monday work

I got up at 5.45, put on a load of washing and cooked eggs for my breakfast. I packed cheese and cucumber with my bottle of water, dressed and got ready to go to work. H deiced the car for me. I had to walk to the leeks and trim them till coffee break. After break I had to walk to carrots and pick 60 bunches. When they were done I walked to leeks again and the men joined me. We had to have 12 boxes and then go down, harvesting a box of celeriac on the way. We washed everthing and after I had packed 11 nets of leeks it was my home time. When I got home no 1 son and his wife were there. They had cycled round. H had made them a coffee and given them cake so I was able to sit down and have a nice chat. When they left I watched tipping point, had a bath and cooked dinner. gammon steaks, mushrooms, peas, broccoli and corn on the cob. After dinneR son got ready and went to the climbing centre for a bouldering session. I have to work again on Wednesday.

Sunday

I got up at 7.30, put on a load of washing and had eggs and mushrooms for breakfast. After I had drunk my tea H made me a coffee. I hung the washing out when it was done and sat and read my book till son got up. I emptied the dishwasher and H and I got the 3 bikes out of the garage. We all got ready to go our and it was the first time H had tried his e bike off road. We did the same ride as son and I did yesterday because we knew the track wasnt too muddy in that area. He got on well and will soon get used to it. Its really good because without it he wouldnt have been able to come out. When we got home I got lunch and as soon as son had eaten his he went out to work on his van again. H and I had a glass of win and I put the chicken in the oven. I prepared the veg ( caulliflower, carrots, broccoli,leeks and potatoes) Hand I had our baths and then it was dinner. I am now watching the first dancing on ice and next its a new Vera. Its work tomorrow.

Friday and Saturday!

Friday I worked from 8 till 1 in a frozen field with 2 men. It wasnt very nice but at least there was no wind.When I left off I went straight to my butchers where I apent a fortune! When I got home I sorted my meat our, froze some etc. By the time I had done that, son had arrived home so I had to get him lunch. Next I had a coffee, a bath, washed my hair and it was time to get dinner. Son and I had ribeye steak, H had a burger! Its what he asked for! We all had potato wedges, sprouts and peas. I beat H at scrabble and later on Son at cribbage 2/1. I am on a roll. Today I got up at 6.30, put on a load of washing and had toast and marmalade for breakfast. As soon as I was done I got ready and went shopping. Just Asda this week.I unpacked and put everything away and H made me a coffee. We sat about till son came down. It was too misty to hang out the washing. Son and I got ready to go out on our bikes. We were lucky because the sun came out and we werent expecting to see it at all. Son got a puncture but soon sorted it. we had a nice ride of 21 miles stopping halfway at cefe 21. The cakes are yummy there. when we got home I got lunch, fried bacon with salad. Dinner tonight is duck, we havent had it since before Christmas so it will make a nice change.

Thursday

I seem to have lost a day! I was sure I wrote a post yesterday! I had to go to hospital in the morning to have my sun damaged skin checked that had been treated. I have been given the all clear. In the afternoon we went for a short ride to test out the motor that H has added to his mountain bike. Well it passed with flying colour's. He had got so he couldnt keep up with me since he has this heart problem, but the motor has made all the difference! Now with hardly any effot he sails along and of course, as usual I cant keep up with him!Its great because he is now able to get some exersize and loads of fresh air again. Today I managed to lay in till 7.30. Iput on a load of washing and had eggs and mushrooms for breakfast with my cuppa. We had a coffee and I hung the washing out. I emptied the dishwasher and read a bit of my book. H was heving a spanish lesson at 10.45 so we had another coffee and when his skype lesson began I went up and put sons bed back together because I had washed it all when he left last time and he is coming back tomorrow. This afternoon I went up for a ride on the turbo. We were going out again on our bikes but Iit was a bit too cold. After breathing in the cold air yesterday H coughed a lot so he is not going out if the temperature is below 6 degrees. I did an hour and rode 15.7 miles. When I finished we had a rum and coke. After tipping point we had our baths and then dinner. Salmon with jacket potatoes mushrooms and garden peas. Tomorrow I have to work.

Wet Tuesday

Today started off so well but went down hill. I got up at 5.15, put yesterdays washing into the tumble drier, made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge and had my breakfast. I sat and read till H got up and then I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. We had a coffee and H went out to the garage to fiddle with his bike motor so I vacumed all downstairs. We had another coffee and a biscuit and I prepared some vegetables to make soup for lunch. I went outside, got in the empty bins, put the rubbish out and moved the bins to the right order to go out next week. Next I went into the garage so H could show me how his bike worked and I am very impressed with it. The soup I made for lunch was very nice and we have enough left over for lunch tomorrow. We were so keen to go out on our bikes to put hubby's through his paces but the rain never stopped. So I then just sat about all afternoon reading and doing nothing much. We watched tipping point, eating Christmas sweets, had our baths and I cooked dinner. We had chicken, mushrooms, peas and chips and it was yummy, I had an orange for pudding. Tomorrow I have a hospital appointment to have my nose looked at after using the chemmical peel. I was supposed to use it for 28 days but stopped on day 11 because it was making me feel ill.

Monday, work.

I got up at 5.25 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and cooked my 2 eggs, one broke! I packed cheese and celery with a bottle of water for my work break and checked my bag, making sure my scarf, socks and gloves were in it. After I was dressed and ready for work I read a bit of my book till it was time to go. I had to walk to carrots, cut 72 pieces of string, get the fork and dig up 72 bunches of carrots. I packed them into boxes for the men to stand on the trailer to take to the yard to wash. While I was waiting for the men to pick them up I did a box of loose carrots. We went down and had our break and then all went together for 4 savoy cabbages, a box of curly kale, a box of black kale and then to thim leeks till 12.30. We got 15 boxes and just had time to wash them all before I went home. When I got home H was on the phone trying to sort out his bike motor so I made myself a coffee. We still have so much Christmas stuff left and I have been eating all afternoon. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. Minced beef and onion pie with cabbage and potatoes. I dont have to work any more till Friday.

Sunny Sunday.

I didnt blog yesterday, it was such a miserable soggy Saturday, never stopped raining. So today when I got up I put the kettle on and yesterdays washing into the tumble drier. I had toast and marmalade for breakfast with my cuppa. Yesterday I took our tree down, all the ceiling decorations etc and vacumed thrugh. Today I took the Christmas holly out so now everything is back to normal.Today I cleaned the kitchen and swept the stairs before vacuming upstairs. I had to go outside and help H with his bike motor, not that I could do much apart from hold the torch! While I was out there I got frozen. I had been planning to go out on my bike but I couldnt get warm so decided not to go so instead I went up for a ride in the pain cave. I knew that I would soon warm up in there! I found it really hard work, I put it down to too much wine and chocolate! I only did 15.2 miles in an hour but I guess its better than nothing. When I had done I made H and myself a turkey sandwich for lunch. For pud we had hot mince pies with brandy butter yummy. This afternoon we watched a film called Kingdom mountain (I think) We had a glass of wine and for dinner we had quiche with potato wedges and mushrooms. Now I am watching Vera.

Friday.

I got up at 6.15 and put on a load of washing. H was already up and had made the tea so I poured myself a cup and asked him to cut me of a slice of bread so I could have toast for a change. I had butter and marmalade on it. After breakfast I got ready to go for our weekly shop. After Asda I went to Marks and Spencers food and got a few treats, a lovely pizza which we have just eaten for dinner tonight with a side salad. From there I went to our daughters to deliver late Christmas gifts. I had to leave them on the doorstep because our youngest granddaughter who still lives there has tested positive for covid! When I got home I put everything away and we had a coffee and a cake. H went into the garage to work on his bike and I got ready to go out on mine. I went on my own and found it hard work, the wind was very strong and cold too.I did 16 and a bit miles and when I got home we had a coffee and I got the washing in as soon as I had put my bike away. I washed my hair and made a pot of tea. We had a glass of wine before dinner.

Thursday. M O T day.

I got up at 6.25 and put on a load of washing. I had eggs and tea for breakfast. When the washing was done I hung it out. I vacumed all downstairs and did a bit of clearing up till it was time to get ready to go to the City for our cars yearly M O T and service. When we took our car in we were shown to a desk and told that Robinsons has been bought by somebody else and he had changed things. We thought ' oh hello this is where we are told the price we were quoted has gone up,' but NO we were told there was a special deal on and our mot would cost £1. How good is that. We left there and went to Halfords where H bought some bits to put on his bike and next we walked to the market place where we went to the bank and then to Jarrolds for a coffee. After that we took our hearing aids to spec savers for a repair. They said they could be fixed and we could collect them in an hour. So we walked to the apple store where we both bought a new strap for our watches. I have always had a white one so I thought I would have a change and have gone for green. We went to Super drug where we got some paracetamol and I bought a lip stick. We collected our hearing aids and went to M and S for a cheese scone and a drink. After that we wondered back to Robinsons and waited till our car was done having a hot chocolate while we waited. Our car got a clean bill of health which is a bonus. When we got home I made a pot of tea and we watched tipping point, had a shower and dinner, chicken curry I had cooked before we left home this morning.

Wednesday . Cold.

I got up at 5.25 and put on a load if washing. I had my breakfast and packed my work snack. As it was only 2 degrees I thought I had better take a flask, otherwise the men all moan at me. When the washing was done I hung it out and then got ready and went to work. We all had to trim leeks till coffee break, just stopping on the way to trim a box of turnips. The leeks were hard to pull up because the top of the soil was frozen. The ice on the puddles was quite thick and it was so cold on our fingers and toes.We did 14 boxes of leeks, had our break and then washed them all. Next I was sent to pick 144 bunches of carrots. I had done just over half when the men joined me. We went back to the yard and loaded the van for the boss, washed some of the carrots and the men went off for their dinner. I just had to pack 6 by 10 kilo boxes of leeks and it was my home time. The boss said I domtbhave to go again till Monday so a nice long weekend.When I got home H made me a coffee. He had been working on his bike this morning and has fitted the motor into the hub but is waiting for a new chain before he can carry on. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. Sausages,bacon, grilled tomatoes, fried potato and eggs.

Tuesday (damp and cold)

I got up at 5.15, put on a load of washing and cooked my eggs for breakfast. I had a mug of tea and packed my cheese and tomato with a bottle of water. I sat and watched tv till the washing was done. I put it all straight into the tumble drier because it was raining and the forecast wasnt good. Next I washed and dressed and got ready to go to work. I drove in very carefully, trying to mind all the big puddles because H cleaned the car yesterday and it is looking nice for when he takes it for its M O T this week.I had to pick 96 bunches of carrots and then join the men who were picking loose carrots. We went to the shed for our lunch and afterwards the men dropped me off back at the carrots to carry on picking loose ones. We aere weighing them in 20 kilo sacks and we had to have 25 sacks! Thats a heck of a lot of carrots to be hand picked! When I left off we had 21 so the men had just 4 more to do after I left off. When I got home H made me a coffee and told me that he had mended my bike. It was the cable that had broken and he put me on a new one. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. It was easy for me tonight because it was yestredays leftovers. I popped it in the oven before I went up for my bath and when I came down it was bubbling away, piping hot. This afternoon the postman delivered H's bike motor so I will soon be struggling to keep up. I hope it all goes well because it will be great for him to still be able to cycle without straining his heart. I have to work again tomorrow.

Bank holiday Monday

I got up at 7 oclock and put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. We had a coffee and sat about till son came down. Last night I took some mince out of the freezer to make a cottage pie today for dinner. So I cooked some onions and then the mince with a carrot, chopped, and some peas. Then son and I got ready to go out on our bikes. H didnt come because he was having a spanish lesson. We had a lovely ride, it was very windy and our route was a very hilly one. We did 21 and a half miles, some of it off road through a wood. We saw several buzzards and a deer, also a kestril. My gears went wrong and I had to stay on my small ring but as we were coming back from Ringland, all uphill I would probibly be using it anyway. When we got home we had lunch, salad. I tried out sons Ebike when we got home, if I get so I cant ride a bike I will think about getting one! H and I had a glass of wine, son didnt because he was driving back to his after dinner. He packed everything into his van before dinner so he was ready to get away straight afterwards. Dinner was nice, cottage pie with green beans and red cabbage.. Last night we played crib once again and son won 2/1. Work for me tomorrow!

Sunday

I got up at 6.50 and put on a load of washing and then had marmalade on toast for breakfast. We had a coffee and I sorted out my new diary, transfering all my adresses, phone numbers, etc. It took me ages! We had another coffee and I went out to work in the garden for a while. Son was working on his van and H went outside and cleaned the car. Hes done a really good job and it looks like a new car. I went in and got their lunches and did a bit more in the garden, I got the washing in and it was pretty dry, so bonus. I put the meat in the oven and prepared the veg for dinner tonight. We forgot to welcome the new year in with our bucks fizz yesterday so we drank it today instead! Tomorrow son and I hope to go for a bike ride but H has a spanish lesson so he wont be coming with us.

Saturday 1st of January 2022.

New years day. Happy ney year. I got up at 6.30 and put a load of washing into the machine. Inhad eggs for breakfast and a mug of tea.We had a coffee and I sat and read till our son got up. When it got light I could see it was a nice day, we were pleased because we were going out on our bikes with our daughter and her husband as well as no 2 son. I said to H I will just hang out the washing as its such a nice day but when I went to get it out I had forgotten to turn the washing machine on! What an idiot! I did a bit of clearing up and then got ready to go out on my bike. Our daughter and son in law arrived at 10 and we had a nice ride. It was a lovely morning, quite windy but mild and sunny. When we got home son cleaned our bikes while I made his salad. I dat about all afternoon eating chocolate! I had a nice soak in the bath and then cooked dinner. We had ribeye steaks, mushrooms, peas, potato wedges and sweet potato wedges.We all watched the iron man final and a Brit won. last night son won crib 2.0
