Friday

I got up at 6. 15 and H was up and had made the tea. He had also cut me off a slice of bread so I toasted it and spread it with butter and marmalade which was a jar in a hamper we got for Christmas and its yummy, orange and wiskey. When I was dressed we went shopping, and when we got home I put it all away and we had a coffee. I read my magazine and then a bit of my book till son came down. we were going out on our bikes but it was raining so we decided to wait till it stopped. When it finally did we had a really nice ride. we did over 21 and a half miles on a pretty hilly course. When we got home son cleaned and oiled the bikes ready for tomorrow while I made him a salad. H is going to put an electric motor on his bike rather than buy an E bike and today the battery arrived so he spent all afternoon fitting it. The motor has yet to arrive. I sat and read a bit of my book and then I had a bath and washed my hair. For dinner we had salmon with jacket potatoes, corn on the cob, broccoli and leek, a cup of tea and a glass of port. Last night son won the cribbage games 2/1.

Thursday

I got up at 6.15 and put on a load of washing. I had porridge for breakfast with a mug of tea. When H got up we had a coffeeand I read my book till son got up. I hung the washing out even though there was no dry out. It was blowing well and and smell of lovely fresh air. Son has finished wiring his van so the next thing in insulating all the inside. I went outside and worked in the garden for a couple of hours, put loads of rubbish in the garden bin but you cant really see what i have done, my garden needs a major overhall which I hope to start when I retire in the spring. Son had a salad which he made himself and H and I had cheese and biscuits with pickle and a cuppa soup. I read some of my book this afternoon, got the washing in and cooked dinner. roast chicken, mashed potatoes, sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and gravy. Last night I won the crib 2/1. I have now won 4 evenings and Son has won 8.

Wednesday (work)

I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea, cooked 2 eggs and had my breakfast. I packed my cheese and tomato and as soon as the washing was done I put it in the tumble drier. I dressed, read a bit of my book till it was 7.25 and went to work. The 2 men and I all had to go together to pick 5 boxes of curly kale and 5 boxes of black kale. Next we had to trim leeks till we had enough for 30 bags and then go down for lunch.It was then 10.15. After break we had to wash all the leeksand Andrew had to stay in the yard and pack 30 sacks with the boss while Andy and I had to pick 48 bunches of carrots. We then drove to the kale where we had to have another 3 boxes of each. Andrew joined us there and when they were done we picked 2 boxes of loose beetroot and spent the rest of the morning trimming leeks. I dont have to work tomorrow and the boss is going to ring me and let me know if he will need me on Friday. When I got home H made me a cup of hot chocolate and I got sons salad. I sat all afternoon reading, we had our baths and I cooked dinner. Gammon, sausages,grilled tomatoes, mushrooms,eggs, broccoli and potato wedges. It was nice. Ice cream for pud. Last night son won crib 2/1.

Tuesday

Today started off really well, i managed to lay in till 7.15, I put yestredays washing in the tumble drier, and had my breakfast, a mug of tea and cream crackers with butter and marmite. We had a coffee and I read my book till son got up. As soon as he was up I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. I cut all the hairs off the vacum cleaner and H vacumed all downstairs. I cleaned the downstairs toilet, all the floor walls etc as well as the basin. I emptied all the bins, took out the rubbish and made us another coffee.Then it all went pear shaped and apart from lunches and dinners ive done nothing apart from eating nuts and chocolate and now my stomach feels horrible! Tomorrow I have to go back to work, its going to be hard! Last night I won the crib 2/0.

Monday, Christmas 🎄 bank holiday

I got up around 7.30, put on a load of washing and made a bowl of porridge for my breakfast. I took some mince out of the freezer for dinner tonight so we could have a change from turky. But I will be making turky stew for dinner tomorrow. I sat and read till son got up and then I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. I havent done much else all day except for preparing meals. Lunch was a salad for son and a turkey sandwich for H. Tomorrow I might have to ride on the turbo trainer! Dinner was nice,baked potatoes with mince and grated cheese. Stewed apple with ice cream and cream for pudding. Last night I won the crib 2/1.

Sunday

I have had a very laxy day. I got up at 6 and had eggs. I sat about till son came down and we all had a coffee. We watched a bike race and I started a new book i was given for Christmas. I sorted out the turkey, sliced off all the breast meat and froze some. We had turkey and stuffing sandwiches for lunch, son had a salad. Hand I had some of our Christmas gin and we have all been eating chocolates most of the day. For dinner tonight we had turkey for a change,H and I had a drumstick and son had a thigh, it was enormous and almoat filled his plate. With it we had roast and mashed potatoes, swede, broccoli, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and gravy.H and son had a magnum but I had Christmas pudding. I lost the crib games yesterday 2/1.

Merry Christmas everyone.

I got up at 6 oclock and checked the turkey which I had put in the oven at 2.30 am on a low heat. I was looking good. We all had grapefruit for breakfast washed down with a bucks fizz. I had to do a load of washing because yesterday we went out on our bikes and it was so wet and muddy that we all got filthy. When it was done I hung it out. I couldnt get it all in so I had to do a second load. I prepared all the veg for our dinner and also for soup for starters. Anyway it was all perfect so I am happy. Son and I had Christmas pudding but H was too full. ( son had cream on his but of course I had gravy.) Son and I went for a walk and when we got home we had a cup of tea. H and I didnt want anything to eat we are still full from dinner so son made himself a turkey salad. I had a few olives and some stuffing. My washing didnt get very dry but it had a good blow and smells nice and fresh.

Thursday ( Christmas eve’s eve )

I got up just after 7 and had eggs and a mug of tea for breakfast. I put on a load of washing and yesterdays into the drier. We sat about reading till Son got up and then I vacumed upstairs and downstairs, dusted, and swept the kitchen floor. We had another coffee and I made a beef stew for dinner tonight. I put all the rubbish out and sorted the bins ready to go out tomorrow. I made son a salad for lunch and then got ready to meet my sister in law at a local garden centre to exchange Christmas gifts. She also gave me a jar of her home made jam which I love. As a special treat I have it in my porridge so I am looking forward to tomorrows breakfast. When I got back home we had a glass of wine and some of our Christmas nuts. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner, the stew was very tasty. Our no 2 son is ' gluten free ' and this afternoon he made himself a loaf of banana bread and its very nice. Basicly its ground pekan nuts, 4 eggs, a banana and a few spices. I am amazed at how it has risen.

Wednesday. Minus 2 degrees this morning

I had a brilliant sleep and didnt get up till 7.35, normally by then I would have been at work. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I did a second load of washing when the first was done and we all got ready to go out our bikes. I was still only plus 2 degrees when we left and I always struggle when the temperature is low, I cant get my breath. Well we only rode 9 and a bit miles but most of it was off road through the woods and the mud and up horrible drags. At one point I thought either my lungs or heart would burst! When we got home we had a coffee and I made sons salad and when he had eaten it We all went to our daughters to deliver gifts and collect our turkey she had got for me. We had a cup of tea and a nice chat, our youngest granddaughter was there too which was nice. When we got back home we watched the end of tipping point, had our baths and dinner. Salmon with jacket potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower. My first day of Christmas has been nice.

Tuesday( Christmas starts here)

I got up at 5.25, made a pot of tea and cooked my eggs for breakfast. I packed a snack for work and made a flask of bovril so I could have a hot drink as the temperature was only 2 degrees when I got up. However the car wasnt frosted so that was a bonus. When I got to work the boss gave me my wages and said he wouldnt need me tomorrow! What a bonus. I had to pick 30 bunches of beetroot and then trim leeks.The men joined me on leeks and we went down at 9.30 so we could wash everything and the boss could go delivering.We had our break and then I had to pick 96 bunches of carrots. Once again the men joined men joined me. After they were done we did 4 boxes of loose carrots and went to leeks, we did 6 boxes and moved to celeriac and trimmed 2 boxes of that. We went back to the yard and Ijust had time to lay the beetroot and carrots on the rack ready for washing.I went to the shed to take off my wellies etc and my bosses wife had left me a christmas gift. A bottle of pink fizz, some roasted mixed nuts, chocolates and M and S mixed chocolate biscuits. How lucky am I. When I got home I told H Idont have to go again till tommorow week he went into the kitchen and made a saucepan of mulled wine which was lovely. I am not usually keen on it but it was the best. For dinner we had steak, mushrooms, cheesy tomatoes and potato wedges, a magnum for pudding.

Monday

I got up at 5.25, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast.I packed my usual snack and after I was washed and dressed I finished my book.I was almost ready to go to work before H got up (7.15) As soon as the washing was done I put it in the tumble drier. I had to pick 20 bunches of beetroot and then 120 bunches of carrots. The men got to carrots before I had finished them so they helped. We went to the yard and just washed the things that the boss needed to deliver and then we had our break. After break I had to walk to the leeks and trim them till the men came fot me. I had trimmed 6 boxes, they had done loads of parsnips so we washed the parsnips and the leeks the men went for their break and I laid out the bunched carrots on the wires to be washed and it was my hometime.H made me a coffee as soon as I got in and I had a packet of crisps a mince pie and a banana. I sorted the washing from the tumble drier, took out all the rubbish and at 3.30 I made a pot of tea. When I had drunk mine I started on dinner. We are having jacket potatoes with a mince and onion topping. I have to work again tomorrow!

Sunday (drizzle)

I got up at 6.40, made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge and had my breakfast. I put yesterdays washing into the tumble drier and we had a coffee. I cleared up the kitchen and after I had washed and cleaned my teeth I read a bit of my book till it was time to get ready to go out on our bikes. Today we were all able to go because our son brought his E bike home for his dad to use.We did over 21 miles off road in the drizzle, stopping at the cafe for coffee and cake.H really enjoyed it so I think a new bike might be on the cards. When we got home son hosed the bikes down while I made him a salad for lunch. We had only been home around 3 minutes when no 1 son arrived. He also tried out the bike. I have yet to try it. I put the meat in the oven,had a bath and sat and read for a while. I put potatoes and squash in the oven to roast, I prepared carrots and cabbage and more potatoes for mash. Dinner was nice, roast lamb with all the veg. We had vienetta for pud. WORK TOMORROW.

Saturday

I got up at 5.45, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. H got up at 6 oclock. After breakfast I got ready and went to Asda to do our weekly shop. After Asda I went to M and S food hall for a few bits and pieces. When I got home I unpacked and put everything away and H made us all a coffee. When we had had it son took me to a toy shop so I could finish my Christmas shopping. As soon as we were home it was time for me to get lunches. Son had his usual salad and H and I had a cuppa soup and some cheese straws. NO 1 son rang for a chat and said he will be round tomorrow to see us.This afternoon I made some 'royal icing' and iced the Christmas cake. I found my Christmas table runner, ironed it and put it on the table. I did the rest of the ironing while I had the board out. I sat down and read a bit of my book till it was time to make a pot of tea and cooked dinner. we had sirloin steaks, mushrooms, peas and potato wedges. A magnum for dessert. Now I am watching S C D final.

Foggy Friday

I got up at 5.25 , had my breakfast, packed my lunch and as it was only 1 degree I made myself a flask of bovril too. When it was time I went to work. The fog was really thick and it stayed like that all day. I had to pick 50 bunches of beetroot and then join the men on leeks. we did leeks till break and afterwards Andrew had to wash everything we had done while Andy and I had to pick all the sprouts, 5 boxes of loose carrots and back on leeks till 12.30 when we had to go down and wash the carrots and leeks. When I left off I went straight to the butchers and when I got home H made me a coffee and I had a mince pie with it. I managed to get the meat in the freezer and later we had a glass of wine. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. Lasagna with cheesy grilled tomatoes. Fresh fruit for pudding. No2 son is coming home tonight for Christmas.

Thursday

I got up just before 6, put on a load of washing made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge for my breakfast. When the washing was dome I put it in the tumble drier. I went outside and cleaned the conservatory door and windows. Next I worked in the garden and filled my garden rubbish bin so H can put it out for the bin men tomorrow. We had a coffee and while H got ready for his skype lesson I got ready to go our on my bike. I went along Marriotts Way as far as Whitwell, on the road to reepham, a loop back to Whitwell and home, calling at the chemist for my prescription on the way home. It was a nice ride, full sunshine and blue skies but chilly. I did just over 20 miles. (on my own) When I got home H made me a hot chocolate while I put my bike away. For dinner we had chineese chicken chips and sweetcorn. Tomorrow no 2 son is coming home for Christmas! I made a pot of tea, we watched tipping point and each had a shower befote dinner.

Yesterday and today.

Yesterday was so boringI couldnt be bothered to write about it. I had my usual breakfast, packed my usuel snack for work. I bunched carrots till coffee break ( 132 bunches ) After break it was leeks till home time. I had my usual coffee, mince pie and banana when i got home and read my book as usual. I made a chicken stew for dinner . Todaystarted off the same right up to coffee break when I had to do 52 bunches of beetroot before trimming leeks and before home time I trimmed a box of celeriac. When I got home H made me a cup of coffeeand as he had made a loaf of bread he sliced me off the crusr and I had it spread with butter. For dinner tonight we are having yesterdays stew so I can have an easy afternoon. The is no work for me till Friday

Monday

I got up at 5.15, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed my cheese, cucumberand water and sorted my socks and gloves etc. I read my book for half an hour and at 7.15 I got ready to go to work. I had to pick 60 bunches of carrots, 12 bunches of beetroot and then trim leeks. Andrew was out gardening but Andy was at work and was cutting cabbages and purple sprouting broccoli. When he was done he came and picked me up and we went back to the yard and washed and packed the carrots and beetroot so the boss could go delivering. We had our break and I had to walk back to the leeks. Andrew finished his gardening job and came back to join us. As he was coming back to the yard in the van and it just died, he was so lucky because he managed to cruise into the yard before it stopped, then they all had to push it out of the way. So now we just have the smaller van. The men joined me on leeks when they had dug up 2 boxes of parsnips and a box of loose carrots. I had to walk back and pick 2 more bunches of beetroot. We trimmed loads of leeks and on the way down we had to stop for 2 celeriac. When I got home H made me a hot chocolate and I had a mince pie and a banana. I didnt do much this afternoon I am too tired. I made a pot of tea, we watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner. Fish, ( breadded cod ) with chips and mushy peas. I have work again tomorrow.

Sunday

I have had a really nice day! I got up at 7 (so a bit of a lay in ). H was up and had made the tea so I had a cup and then a coffee. I made myself a bowl of porridge for bteakfast while I was talking to H and I wasnt really paying attension to what I was doing! Well I must have overdone the oats! My porridge was so thick I could have almost eaten it with a knife and fork! At 9 oclock he went up for a ride in the pain cave and I emptied the dishwasher and put every thing away, put yesterdays washing into the tumble drier. .Next I finished decorating the Christmas tree, put the ceiling decorations up, put all the cards up on the side of our stairs and tidied everything away. I marzipanned the Christmas cake and got ready to go out on my bike. It was a nice ride, it was 12 degrees C so I was nice and warm. Almost all my ride was off road. First I went to our granddaughters with their cards. They were at home so I got a cuddle with out darling little great grandson, he is beautiful.Just 1 month old. Our great granddaughter was happy to see me ( I had chocolate.) She was very excited because they were all off to see Santa this afternoon on the Sheringham train. I got a cuddle and a kiss from her before I left. I went from there to my sister in laws to deliver her cards. So I managed to get some exersize and save some money by not buying stamps. ( 20.6 miles) As soon as I was home I got lunch, it was yesterdays leftover soup and a coffee. For dinner tonight we had duck legs with roast potatoes, cabbage and leeks, We had a magnum ice cream for pud and a cup of tea. Now I am watching S C D results. Its work for me tomorrow!

Saturday

When we got up the car was covered in frost and it was 1 degree! We had our breakfast,I put on a load of washing and we got ready to go to Asda for our weekly shop. I bought a few extra things like Bucks fizz and nuts for Christmas. After our shopping we delivered a few cards and I took our used coffee pods to the post office. When we got home, after I had unpacked etc we had a coffee and an egg custard.I hung out my washing, there was no dry but it got some fresh air and I will tumble it tomorrow. N ext I worked in the garden for a couple of hours and when I went in I made us a coffee and decorated the Christmas tree. Tomorrow I am going to marzipan the cake and put up the rest of the decorations. For lunch I made vegetable soup and it was tasty. I read some of my book, we watched a film had our showers and dinner, quiche and potato wedges.

Friday work.

I got up at 5 because I needed the loo and dare not go back to bed in case I overslept. I put yesterdays washing into the tumble drier and had eggs for breakfast. I packed my snack, cucumber, cheese and a bottle of water. I got told off at work because I hadnt brought a hot drink.It was really cold out in the middle of the field in the wind, I had to get 30 bunches of beetroot and my fingers were so cold i struggled to tie the string. Last night the boss had another half inch of rain, all our fields are already saturated so this time it just flooded. I had to paddle from my car on the car park to the shed and the water came right over my shoes, i took my wet socks off put on my spare pair before my wellies. After beetroot I had to trim leeks and Andy joined me, it was slow work because every step we took we got stuck in the mud, it made it very tiring work.We trimmed 6 boxes to make sure we had enough and it was 10. 10 so we had our break. The boss said it was too bad to go back to leeks so after we had washed the beetroot and carrots we went to thr greenhouse and pulled up the tomato plants and any weed that was in there which took till my home time. Iwas so glad to be home in the warm. H made me a coffee, I finished writing all my Christmas cards. I will post them tomorrow. We had 'breakfast'for dinner tonight, fried tomatoes, bacon, eggs and fried bread. It was so yummy, its years since I had fried bread!

Thursday.

I got up at 7.20 so a bit of a lie in but not a very good sleep because my hands are sore and the pins and needles keep waking me up and my back isnt quite right I think ive tweeked it a bit. H was already up and had made the tea so as he heard me come down he poured me a pint mug full. I drank it then realised its weighing in day, too late I will have to try to remember next week. I made a bowl of porridge for my breakfast and we had a small coffee. The sun was shining when I had finished my breakfast so I put all the rubbish out, got my bike out of the garage and was going to hang out the washing but it began to drizzle! My plan had been to go out and get my Christmas holly but I dont ride in the wet, so as my bike was out I thought I would just pop down to the surgery with my prescription. By the time I had done that the rain had stopped so I went for my bike ride. I really enjoyed it. I rode 21 and a bit miles and got my holly which looks lovely in the vase.While I was out H was having his spanish lesson(skype). When I got home we had a coffee and a mince pie. This afternoon I assembled the Christmas tree and now H has got the decorations out for me! We watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner, chicken curry. Tomorrow I am at work again.

Wednesday work

I got up at 5.45, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I had cheese and cucumber for a change for my break and also took a flask of bovril. When the washing was done I put it straight into the tumble drier because I knew there could be no dry outside today. When I got to work I had to go with Andy and we had to dig up and bunch 180 bunches of carrots. we also had time to pick 3 boxes of loose carrots. After break I had to walk to beetroot, cut up my string for 40 bunches.Next it was leeks and Andy joined me. It was dreadful, the ground was so sticky we struggled to move our feet. Andy who is heavier than me kept sinking in really deep and almost losing his wellies. The wind was so strong and we were both freezing all morning. Thank goodness I dont have to go tomorrow. When I got home H made me a coffee. He then asked when I had to work again. I said Friday, his face broke into a smile, he gragged my hands and danced me round the kitched saying yippee! I didnt have a clue what was going on so I said why are you so happy this week when its just like any other week. It turned out that he thought today was Monday and he thought I had got tuesday, wednesday and thursday off! What a plonker! We watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner, chicken pie and veg.

Tuesday.

I got up just before 8 oclock! I cant remember sleeping so long before. H was up and had made the tea so I had a cup and my eggs. The day before yesterday I won the crip games 2-1 so last night was the big final and I lost 2-1 so I am not happy, it was so close ! Today we decided to go to Cley for a walk. H said he would come too so we went via Cromer stopping on the way at a chip shop for chips. We parked on Cley spy car park ( which is now pay and display). The wind was VERY strong and as we left the car park it began to rain! We walked almost 3 miles (2.71miles on my strava) but I had forgotten to start it right away. We walked down to the sea and along the shore line. I had my wellies on but I paddled anyway. The rain got worse and we were all wet through,from where our jackets stopped. There were dead seals on the beach.H,who kept on the top of the beach saw 3. When we got back to the car we came straight home because we were too wet to sit in the cafe drinking coffee. I had to laugh, we passed a couple walking in the oppisite direction and the woman said, ' there are mad people and then there is us'. As soon as we got home H ran me a bath and I soon warmed up. We all had a cup of tea and I cooked dinner. It was mince with onion, garlic, carrot and peas piled on top of large jacket potatoes and topped with grated cheese. Now our son is getting ready to go home but he will be back for Christmas if not before. I have to work tomorrow and already I am not looking forward to it.

Monday, work.

I got up at5.40, put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea.I cooked 2 eggs to go with my cuppa and next packed a bottle of water and some cheese and a tomato. I read a little of my book till it was time to wash and dress ready to go to work. Once again it was really awful! There was a very thick fog which took about an hour to go and it was freezing. I had to pick 60 bunches of carrots, 10 bunches of beetroot and then leeks. Andy came and picked me up and we went back to the yard to wash and pack everything.We then had our break and I walked backed to the leeks and trimmed them till my hometime.It was a really horrible morning, cold and wet and so muddy, it makes everything such hard work, I was pleased to leave off. The boss said he thinks he can manage without me tomorrow, what a bonus! When I got home H made me a coffee and I made son a salad and sat all afternoon doing nothing. I had a soak in the bath till I was finally warm then I came down, made a pot of tea and cooked dinner. Liver, venison burgers, sausages, cheesy mushrooms, eggs and peas.I am so tired I dont think I will be able to stay awake for my soaps tonight.

Sunday.

I got up at7.05 after a good nights sleep. Ihad a mug of tea ans made a bowl of porridge for my breakfast. I put on a load of washing and we had a coffee. I just sat and read till son got up then I put yesterdays washing in the tumble drier and emptied the dishwasher. I hung out todays washing but but it hadnt been out long and when the skies turned black so I got it in again. We had another coffee and a mince pie.For lunch I made soup which was nice. Later we had a glass of wineand I put the meat in the oven and prepared the veg. Son cleaned his van and when it got dark he and I went for a walk to look at the Christmas lights on peoples houses. 2.78 miles. When we got back I put the veg on and when it was cooked we had dinner. The meat fell off the bone it was so tender. We had ice cream for dessert. This weekend has gone so quickly and its the dreadded work again tomorrow. Son and I played crib last night and he won 2.1.

Saturday

I got up at 6 oclock, put on a load of washing and had my usual breakfast. As soon as I had finished I washed and dressed etc and went to Asda for our weekly shop. When I got home I unpacked and put everything away and we had a coffee and a cake. Next I emptied the dishwasher, put it all away and put some washing into the tumble drier. After that our youngest son and I got ready to go out on our bikes. I put my cycle gear on and got the bikes out of the garage. We were just walking out of the door when my other son was at the door,so I had my 2 sons together.I took my jacket off again and we all sat back in the lounge. H made the coffee and when we were done we put our jackets back on got our shoes and went for our bike ride leaving no 1 son with his dad for a chat. We had a very hilly ride and it was also very muddy.We had a really good ride, stopping for coffee and cake. We did over 24 miles. When we got home I was covered in mud from head to foot. I went in to change and son hosed the bikes down. I poured us a wine , had a bath and then cooked dinner. We had ribeye steak (son and I) H had chicken, with cheesey mushrooms, peas,sweet potato wedges and potato wedges. We had a classic magnum for dessert. I was so pleased with my ride, I managad all the hills without getting off my bike even the sharp climb up to the Reepham road, across the road and down the other side all in one go. I hope I will still be able to do it when I am 84.

The mundane life of an 83 year old!!

Today is my birthday but I still had to go to work so I got up at 5.30 as usual, put on a load of washing and had my eggs for breakfast. I packed my tomato, cheese and water, relaxed till 7 when I got ready to go to work. It was horrible! 1 degree with drizzle.I had to pick 50 bunches of beetroot, it was so hard to tie up the string because my fingers were numb with cold. I had to trim leeks next and got stuck in the mud all the time! The men took me to the yard for break and then I had to walk back to the leeks again.I was so glad when it was time to go home. I went to the butchers on the way home. I just got home when our daughter in law came round with my birthday card and present.S he had a cup of tea and I had a coffee and we had a nice chat. As she left our daughter and son in law turned up with more gifts and presents, some from our other granddaughter and great grandchrildren and of course our daughters gifts. Everything is lovely and I am so lucky.When they left I had a bath and I am finally warm. We had a lasagna for dinner and now I am watching my soaps.

Thursday wet, windy, snow, sun and hail!

I got up at 5.40. I had been awake for over an hour but H had told me to have a lay in and I was hoping to go back to sleep but in the end I gave up. I had eggs and tea for breakfast but not till I had weighed myself. I am 134.0 lbs. Its the same as I was when I last weighed myself 3 weeks ago so I was pleased. After H was up and had eaten his breakfast I stacked the dirty dishes and washed up the things that arent dishwasher safe. I swept and washed the kitchen floor, wiped all the worktops, window sills etc and took some spots off the carpet. Next I swept the toilet floor and washed it and cleaned the basin etc. It was the turn of the bathroom next and after that a well earned coffee. At 10.45 H was having a 'skype' spanish lesson so I popped to the garden centre for some Christmas cards. When I got home his lesson had just finished so we had another coffee. A little later our youngest granddaughter came round with a birthday present for me. She had bought me a bottle of wine and a beautiful boquet of flowers. This afternoon I made some flapjack,watched tipping point, had a shower and then we went to get a chineese takeaway for our tea. H bought it as a birthday treat a day early because I am going o the butchers tomorrow and having our favourite lasagna for tea. .It was very tasty, I had a prawn cocktail starter and I have never seen so many prawns in one ever before. H had a rice dish and I had a noodles dish, also prawn crackers.I am truly stuffed. Tomorrow I have to work even though its my birthday! but it will be the last one I have to work on as next year I am being forced into retirement! As I will be 83 tomorrow I suppose I shouldnt complain.

Thursday

I got up at 5,25 puton a load of washing and had my eggs and tea. I packed my snack, cheese with cucumber for a change. As soon as my washing was done I put it into the trier because it was raining. I relaxed for 10 minutes before getting ready for work. We all went up the field together, Andrew to pick loose carrots and Andy and I to do bunched carrots. We had to go back to the yard at 9.30 so we could wash and pack stuff for the boss to deliver. We had 186bunches of carrots and 7 boxes of loose ones. We had our break and then after which Andrew was sent out on a gardening job, I was sent to pick 40 bunches of beetroot and Andy was sent to cut cabbages. My fingers were so cold I struggled to tie the beetroot string! When I finished I joined Andy who had finished cutting cabbages and was picking sprouting broccoli. We did 5 boxes and then we had to dig up a box of parsnips, pick 3 boxes of curly kale, 6 boxes of black kale and 2 boxes of leeks. On the way down we picked up the beetroot and dug up and trimmed a box of celeriac. We just had time to wash the beetroot before it was my home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a mince pie and a banana. I read my book this afternoon, watched tipping point, had a bath and cooked dinner. We had chicken and chips with peas and mushrooms. I have tomorrow off and H says I must have a lie in in the morning so I will try my best.
