Windy Saturday
I got up at 5.40 and put on a load of washing. I hung yesterdays washing out and todays when it was done. I had porridge for breakfast and we had a coffee. I cooked some beetroot and H got the bikes out of the garage so we could go for a ride. I sat and finished my book and we got ready to go out. It was really windy and we struggled at times going up hill into the wind. We did 26 and a bit miles, most of it off road. I got a cup on one segment for 9th fastest out of 226 women, i bet there arent many of them over 80. When we were less than a mile away from home on our way back it began to rain. I got my washing in as soon as we got through the gate and it was almost dry.I put the bikes awayand we had our lunch, soup, cheese straws, coffee and a bun. We had a small glass of wine later while we were watching the cycle race in Spain. H had a shower and I had a bath then I made a pot of tea and cooked dinner, we had pork slices with potatoes, carrots and cabbage.

When I got back home it was time to get lunch. We had a cheese, ham and tomato sandwich with mustard and mayo washed down with a milkshake. This afternoon we both had a ride on bikes upstairs. I rode on the turbo trainer and H rode on his rollers. He did 30 minuites and I did an hour. His was so much harder than mine. When I had finished I had a bath and washed my hair and when I went down we had a glass of wine and watched the tour of spain. For dinner we had fish pie with broccoli and carrots.

Wednesday
I got up at 5.28 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and cooked my breakfast which was an egg and a third of my last bell pepper which I picked yesterday afternoon. I packed my work snack, dressed, hung out yesterdays and todays washing and got ready to go to work. I had to pick 30 bunches of beetrootand then bunch carrots till coffee break at 10. When I left off I drove straight to our daughters for our weekly groceries. Both her and our granddaughter are still looking well thank goodness I hope they stay well, they mix with the public in their job every day. When I got home H made me a coffee while i went straight into the garden to get the washing in because it had begun to rain. With my coffee I had a cocoanut bun and a peanut biscuit. We watched the Tour of Spain, tipping point, then had a bath and dinner. It was burgers, sausages, mushrooms, eggs and chips. After dinner we watched a Sandra Bullock film, one of my favourites, The Proposal H had never seen it before! I have to go to work again tomorrow.

Lazy Tuesday.
I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing. I had tea and porridge for breakfast and then a coffee. I sat and read quite a bit of my book till H went to ride in the pain cave. As soon as he had gone I turned the oven on and while it was heating up I made some cocoanut and choc chip buns and some peanut and rasin cookies. I have never made the cookie recipe before but H really loves them, I think they are nice, really crisp and just like a biscuit but I cant taste the peanut butter at all. For lunch when he finished we had a coffee and cheese and beetroot sandwiches. Later we had a milk shake, watched tipping point after the cycle race, had our baths and then dinner. We had baked salmon, baked beans and baked potatoes. I had a short ride on the turbo trainer this afternoon, 15.4 miles in 50 minuites. Tomorrow I am back at work.

Sunday
I cant believe I have missed 2 days blog. Friday I went out on my bike on my own and got caught in the rain on the way home and got soaked. Today H and I went out together, we went to Sprowston church to look for the grave of Hs brother who died when he was 14. He was killed while doing his paper round when he was hit by a car. we were pleased we found it and will go back again with our shears to tidy it. The ride meant I did 19 miles, I had wanted to do 23 to make it 81 this week but I am a few miles short. Our youngest son is back in the country but wont be visiting us yet because he will be self isolating.
I had porridge for breakfast, crackers and cheese for lunch and a roast for dinner tonight.Tomorrow I have to work so I will have eggs for breakfast.

Our daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter were all coming round this afternoon when I get home from work so I put a few things away because our great granddaughter has just started to walk and I wanted the lounge to be toddler safe. Its so long since we have seen her I think she had forgotten us but as soon as she saw the few things I had out for her to play with she was happy.
Anyway I went to work and had to pick 32 bunches of beetroot, 50 bunches of purple carrots, 50 bunches of orange carrots, and then go down for break. After break I had to trim 5 boxes of leeks, Andrew joind me in time to do one of the boxes and then we had to pick 3 boxes of butternut squashes, take them to the yard and Andrew went off to have his lunch and I washed squashes till it was my home time. I have done nothing all afternoon I am too tired after trying to drag my feet out of the mud for 5 hours. I had to go through a nasty flood on my way home from our daughters it was pretty deep. For dinner we had fishcakes with jacket potatoes, leek, and a huge field mushroom my bosses wife picked for me. It was as big as a dinner plate and so tasty. I have to go again tomorrow so I hope its a bit drier.

Tuesday
I got up at 2 minuites to 8 which sounds really good but its not! I had a really awful nights sleep. I went to bed at midnight and was still awake at 2.45 then I kept sleeping and waking every half hour all through the night. I got up with a really bad headache. H poured me a mug of tea and I took 2 paracetamol with it. We had a coffee and I had porridge for breakfast. I sat about not doing anything much till the rain stopped. When it did I went outside and began to fill my garden rubbish bin. The sky began to brighten up so we got the bikes out of the garage, changed into our cycle gear and went for a ride. It was lovely, it cleared my head and blew away the cobwebs. When we got home we had a coffee and a pot noodle, showered, changed and watched the tour of Italy. Next we watched tipping point and I cooked dinner. We had gammon with mushrooms, sweet corn, egg and chips. For dessert we had baked apples with yogurt, so tasty. Tomorrow I am at work again and it looks as if I will be doing it in the rain.

I had to pick 8 bunches of beetroot, 10 bunches of purple carrots and 120 bunches of orange carrots. It all had to be done by 10 oclock and I had to dig all the carrots up too. I just had it all finished when they came to pick it up. we then washed it all and packed it up so the boss could deliver it. Before he left he gave me a second list. Andrew and I had our break and then I walked back up the field to start my second list, 10 bunches of spring onions, 4 more bunches of beetroot, 6 more bunches of purple carrots and then leeks till I left off at 1 oclock I did 6 boxes and Andrew joined me towards the end and did 2 boxes. Saturday
I got up at around 6.30, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I had porridge for a change, I had it because I fancied it which must mean winter is on its way. I went outside to hang out the washing and when I had half of it on the line it began to rain so I got it in again. we had a coffee and I got on with a bit of clearing up. At 10. 40 we got ready to go to the doctors for our flu jabs. It was all very well organised and we were in and out in minuites. On the way home I want to the chemist for my prescription. We had another coffee when we got back and for lunch we had soup. This afternoon we watched the race, it was the time trial so I read my book and wrote some emails. Idid put the washing out again before going to the docs but when we were home it began to rain again so I got it in but its not very dry. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. We had carrots, cod and chips. For dessert I thought I would do baked apples and custard, one of hubbys favourites. So I took the cores out first, cut a circle round the top in the skin and filled the centre with a couple of teaspoons of sugar. Next I put the first one in the microwave for 2 minuites and nothing much happened so i put it in for 2 more! The apple exploded all over the microwave. (that one had to be mine). The second one I microwaved for just the 2 mins and then put it in the oven and it turned out well so I will know for next time.

Friday
I got up at 5.30 put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed my snack for work and relaxed till it was time to leave. It was a bit easier to walk today, the field had firmed up a bit. I had to trim 6 boxes of leeks first. It took longer than it has been doing because I am on the second earlies and they are not as big as the last lot. I was only managing to get 35 leeks in a box on the last lot but it took 55 to fill a box on the new bed. The men arrived just as i finished them and it was 9.35 so we all went to turnips and trimmed 4 boxes. We had our break and then I had to go to beetroot and get 32 bunches of purple ones and 34 golden ones. We went down to wash and pack them and then Andy and I took the fleece off 2 blocks of turnips and 1 block of swedes. Its really heavy work and we were both so hot we had to take our coats off. We finished at 12.45 and the boss said i could go home. H was suprised to see me, my coffee wasnt ready. We watched the bike race then tipping point. I had a bath and washed my hair. We had a quiche for dinner with potato wedges, peas and sweet corn. Tomorrow we are having our flu jab, its right in the middle of the morning so we wont be going out on our bikes.

It was fish cakes with mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic and jacket potatoes.
I will be getting stuck in the mut on the beetroot again tomorrow because I know we need more and H just went outside to put the bin out and it was raining.

I trimmed the last of the early bed of leeks and was walking to the second early bed when Andy began shouting at me and waving his arms about so I thought I had better go and see what he wanted. My orders had been changed, I had to pick 2 boxes of curly kale instead. By this time it was 12.25 so we drove to the leeks I had trimmed put them on the trailer and drove to the turnipsand just had time to trim 2 boxes of them before home time. Tuesday
I got up at 6.41, put on a load of washing and had tea and toast for breakfast. H had to go to Asda chemist this morning for his prescription, we also needed petrol so I offered to get his pills while he filled the tank. When I got in the shop it was very quiet so after I had his tablets I thought I would nip down to the beer asle and get us 4 bottles of beer. They were in cardboard packs of 4. I thought I would get 2 packs. I picked the first up by its handle and put it in my basket. When I picked up the second by the handle the bottom fell out and all 4 bottles smashed on the floor. I was paddling in larger! When we got home we had a coffee and after clearing up the kitchen I read a chapter of my book and then got ready to ride on the turbo trainer. H set it up for me and then put his set of rollers on the landing so we could ride together. He did 30 minuites and I did 1 hour and 8 minuites. I did 21and a bit miles. For lunch we had cheese and biscuits and then melon that Andrew who I work with gave me. He grew it from a seed he took from a melon he bought in a supermarket last year and dried out. It was lovely. We each had a shower after our rides and a mug of tea. For dinner we had pork chops with cabbage carrots and potatoes. I went into the hall this afternoon to water my plants and it smells like a brewery! My boots are still wet! (swede) Tomorrow I have to work.

They said I had to go with them back to the yard to wash everything so the boss could go out delivering. When that was done we had our break and I was given a new list, 16 bunches of purple carrots, 4 more carrots, 29 bunches of spring onions and then leeks. when I got to the leeks Andy joined me and we trimmed them till my home time. Sunday.
I got up at 7.11 and put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. We had a coffee and Idid a bit of housework and all the ironing. We had another coffee and I got ready to ride on Zwift. I just rode for an hour while I listened to the archers omnibus. I was so pleased with my ride, the last time I was on there I really struggled and found it so hard even to ride slowly. Today it was still hard ( always is ) but I felt so much better and managed to ride 19.1 miles in the hour. I think that last time I must have been a bit under the weather. When I finished I had a shower and we had a pot noodle for lunch with a cup of tea. I sat and read a bit of my book till it was time to put the meat in the oven,i prepared the veg and peeled and cooked some apples for pudding. We sat and watched a film, H had a bath and then we had dinner. We had roast lamb with mashed potatoes, roasties, broccoli and carrots with gravy. I had to get some batteries for my hearing aids. I put my mask on before I left home and didnt take it off till I got back indoors. When I got home we had a coffee, H had ceans on toast and I had a crab. It was yummy. H vacumed downstairs and I remade the bed. Friday.
I had such a brilliant sleep it was worth the struggles in the mud yesterday! I didnt wake up till 7.37 I think its a new record for me and even when I got up I couldnt stop yawning. H had been up for 45 minuites so the pot of tea was made, I poured myself a cup and had my breakfast. I put on a load of washing and hung yesterdays out. I took some mince out of the freezer for dinner tonight and dressed. when the washing was done I hung that out as well on my other line. H got our bikes out of the garage and I got thr bins in. We got ready to go out for a ride and it was lovely, the sun was shining and most of the roads had dried up..we did 30 and a bit miles and managed to beat the rain home. I got the washing in, one line was dry but the other was still a bit damp. We had a pot noodle for lunch with a coffee, I sat in the conservatory and wrote my emails with a nice glass of wine. The temperature in there were perfect. I had a shower and washed my hair, watched tipping point and cooked dinner. We had a beef curry which was nice, I am not a fan of rice but today I quite enjoyed it.
Thursday, 8 October 2020
Thursday.
I got up at 5.42 and put on a load of washing. I had my breakfast, packed my snack for work and then sat and watched tele till 7 when I got dressed and ready to go to work. The boss gave me a list when i got there, it said 18 bunches of beetroot, 24 fo golden beetroot, 50 bunches of carrots, 54 fo purple carrots and then leeks. I did everything except the leeks before break. ( the men joined me on carrots before I finished) After our break I went to leeks but had to do 20 bunches of spring onions on the way.I had trimmed 3 boxes of leeks and the men joined me. We had to have 10 boxes. I cant tell you how hard it was at work today! Every step we took we sunk into the mud and struggled to pull our feet out. There was a deep furrow by the leeks where the boss got the tractor stuck when he was lifting them and it had filled with water. I was working away when Andy picked me up and planted me in it! There was no way I would have got out without help! A little while later he was paid back because he got both his feet stuck and fell over. But all that aside it was such hard work and I came home tired out. I sat in the conservatory when I got home and couldnt keep awake For dinner we had cod, baked potatoes and corn on the cob. It poured with rain for 4 of the 5 hours I was working and at times really throwing it down but my new coat the boss gave me actually worked and I stayed dry, happy days. I dont have to go again till Monday so its a nice long weekend, hopefully we will be able to get out on ourbikes.
Wednesday, 7 October 2020
Wednesday.
I got up at 5.30 and had green pepper and eggs for my breakfast with a mug of tea. I packed some cheese and tomatoes for my break at work and a bottle of water. As soon as it was light enough for me to see up the garden path I hung out yesterdays washing. I sat and watched tv till 7 then I went up to dress etc. ready for work. The boss sent me straight to carrots and wanted 12 dozen bunches, he said Andy would join me when he had loaded the trailer with boxes and crates to pack things in. I had done 24 bunches by the time he arrived. We did the rest and took them to the yard,I laid them all out on the racks for Andy to pressure wash. When he had done one side I turned them all over so he could do the other. We packed them all again ready to be delivered. We had our break and then I had to pick 70 bunches of beetroot, its a slow job because the leaves are beginning to turn autumn colours so I have to pull some off. when they were finished and packed up I picked 6 bunches of spring onions and helped Andy on sweet corn till it was my home time. I drove straight to our daughters when I left off to collect our weeks groceries, she is still looking well. When I got home H made me a coffee and we had a bowl of crisps. We watched the tour of Italy bike race then tipping point. I had a bath and cooked dinner, we had cornish pasties with broccoli, leeks, potatoes and a big dollop of brown sauce. Tuesday, 6 October 2020
Day out.
I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing before having my breakfast. H got up an hour later and made us a coffee. I started a new book and just read one chapter before cleaning the conservatory. I did all the outsides of the windows first then cleaned and tidied the inside. It was raining so i didnt hang the washing out. We decided not to go out on our bikes so we went out in the car instead. First we went to Fakenham and had 2 new tyres put on the front of our car. The rain had stopped and we sat on chairs in the sun for about threequarters of an hour while the tyres were fitted. The main reason we went to Fakenham was because H wanted some peanut butter, codliver oil capsules and zink tablets from Holland and Barratt. After the car was done we parked at Aldiss and had a cottage pie and coffee for lunch. H bought 4 G&T glasses and we walked to Holland and Barratt only to find it has closed down! We walked back to the car and drove to Holt. We went to Bakers and Larners because I am looking for a special gift but they had nothing that caught my eye. I will have to check out Jarrolds and John Lewis. We went to their deli and I bought some black bomber cheese, some ewe's cheese and some crisps. After that we drove to Sheringham because there is a H&B there. H got what he wanted and when we came out of the shop the sky was black so we went back to the car and were about 12 feet away when the skies opened and it poured with rain. I didnt even get to see the sea! When we got home we had a coffee and watched the cycle race and tipping point. We had a shower and then a bottle of beer, a packet of crisps and a date scone. Tomorrow I am back to work.
Monday, 5 October 2020
Monday.
I got up at 5.54 and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, dressed, made the bed and got ready to go to work. I had to pick 10 bunches of beetroot, 90 bunches of carrots and then pick 12 punnets of tomatoes. we had our break and I spent the rest of the morning trimming leeks. Andy joined me and we trimmed all the leeks that had been lifted. I dont know how the boss will lift the next 2 rows our fields are so soggy he cant drive the tractors off the hard tracks, they would sink up to their axels. When we finished the leeks we went to the yard and washed and packed the carrots. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a banana and a date scone. We watched the tour of Italy and tipping point, had our baths and then dinner. Gammon steaks, eggs, peas and chips. It was very tasty. I dont have to work tomorrow and if its not raining we will go out on our bikes but if it is we are going to Holt for lunch. While we are there I will not be buying another puzzle! They did laugh at work when I asked them if any of them had the phone number of jigsaw puzzlers annonomus.
Sunday, 4 October 2020
Nightmare day.
I got up at 6.50 and put on a load of washing. I had my usual breakfast after I had made a pot of tea. I dried yesterdays washing in the tumble drier and H got up an hour later. Then everything stopped. Yesterday I bought a jigsaw puzzle. H said he was going into the garage to change the forks in one of his bikes so I thought while he was outside I would do just a few bits of my puzzle, it has 500 pieces. Well that was it for the rest of the day! I have done nothing else. I didnt even dress. H made me stop to get lunch ( pilchards with a slice of bread and butter and lots of vinegar and a coffee ) and I had to get dinner. I have just now had a shower and put a clead nightie on. My puzzle is finished, I shall never buy another one they are like a drug and once I start thats it. I have to work tomorrow so I will get some exersize thank goodness.

Saturday
I got up at 6.50 put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I sat and read my book till H went up to the pain cave to turbo. I dressed etc and went to the garden centre. I had a wander round and bought some tulip bulbs and some Christmas cards. when I got home H had just finished his ride. I wrote out a birthday card and walked to the post office to post it. On the way back I walked to the village pond and its looking beautiful at the moment with all the greenery and ducks, the water is as clear as a bell. After that I walked to the chestnut trees because I knew the wind had brought some down and I wondered if they would be any good this year after our earlyshortage of water. Its a bit early for them to be ready but there will definatly be plenty because they were quite large even though they are still white at the moment. When I got home I got lunch, ham rolls with crisps and a cup of coffee. After lunch I made some date scones and stewed some cooking apples. We watched a cycle race in Italy, today it was the time trial. I cooked dinner, steak and mushroom pie with potatoes and sweetcorn. We had apple and yogurt for pudding.

Friday
As it is my first day off for 4 days H said I could have a good lie in. I thought it was a good idea but I woke up at 4 oclock and after laying there for an hour and 27 minuites I got up. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. When the washing was done I hung it out. H got up over an hour later. We had a coffee and then got ready to go to our butchers. When we got home we changed straight away so we could have a short bike ride before the rain came. We did 21.55 miles, it was really nice to get out in the fresh air.
In the kitchen I have a bag we put recycling stuff in and when its full i put it into the bin. It was full this morning so I took it out. As i was walking round to the bin I noticed 2 sweet wrappers in the bag, I was so angry I told H they have to go in the rubbish not recycling! I got to the bin fuming and promptly tipped all the recycling stuff into my garden rubbish bin! What a fool I had to laugh! I went in and told H who thought it was funny. The garden bin wasnt very full because its been too wet to garden so I couldnt even reach the paper stuff to get it out but H came out and sorted it for me.
When we got home from our ride my washing was dry so I got it in and put the bikes away while H made coffee and cut 2 slices of bread off and i made beetroot and ham sandwiches. The very next minuite it began to rain so it worked out just right for us. This afternoon I read a bit of my book and we watched tipping point. We had our showers and I washed my hair and cooked dinner. we had a liver casserole, it was yummy.

October already!
I got up at 5.47, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, made the bed dressed and read my book till it was time to go to work. It was actually dry for my 5hours there. I had to pick10 bunches of beetroot and then Andy joined me, we did 40 bunches of golden beetroot, 54 bunches of purple carrots and 3 boxes of leeks. We had our coffee break and then I had to do 30 bunches of spring onions and then walk to the glass house and pick the rest of the tomatoes. I only had a few minuites left so I packed 5 sacks of leeks.
An amazing thing happened this morning, we were picking the purple carrots and had been there for a few minuites when all of a sudden from rightbeside us an owl flew up from the ground. It must have been feeding on a vole ro something or it would have taken off as we arrived. Its unusual to see them during the day. It was beautiful and as it flew off it didnt make a sound.
When I got home I had a coffee and a beetroot sandwich, we watched a cycle race and then tipping point. I had a bath and we had dinner. chicken curry. I dont have to work again till Monday.
