Thursday

We got up at 5.35 and had our breakfast. We sat for a while watching the erupting volcano flowing into the sea. We had a small coffee and then I washed and dressed etc. I went outside and did some dead heading and some clearing up in the garden. I was getting on well till it began to rain and I had to go in. We had an instant coffee and then we went to our daughters for a little while to see her and our great granddaughter, we also saw our grangson. On the way home I went to the chemist to collect my prescription. When we got home it was lunch time, H had a slice of toast with peanut butter, honey and a banana then a tin of rice and I had a banana. After lunch I made some date scones and while they were baking I cleaned out both the fridges out. We had a message from no 2 son saying he will be home tomorrow after tea, he will be working on his van. We watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner. Lamb chops, potato wedges, mushrooms and cauliflower. Its work again tomorrow.

Wednesday work.

I got up at 5.35 and put on a load of washing. I had my usual breakfast and packed my usual lunch. I went to work at the usual time, it was only 10 degrees when i left home and quite chilly in the field. I had to go with Andy so I got a ride on the trailer instead of walking to, first the beetroot and we picked 50 bunches. We drove to the turnips next and trimmed 2 boxes and finally to carrots where we picked 96 bunches. We took everything to the yard and it was time for coffee break. After break I had to pick tomatoes and it took me all the rest of the morning. Its slow work now because I cant reach the tomatoes, they are so tall and I have to climb on to a box, get down, move it akong and climb back up again! When I got homeH made me a coffee and as he had just made a loaf of bread I had a nice warm crust off it with butter and marmite. I got my washing in,dry and we had a glass of wine. We watched tipping point, had a bath and then dinner. We had salmon, jacket potatoes and mushy peas.

Tuesday

I got up at 6.20, put on a load of washing and poured th tea that H had made. I had 2 eggs for breakfast and read my book till the washing was done and then I hung it out. We had a small coffee and I did a bit of watering in the garden becayse everywhere is so dry. I took some liver out of the freezer for dinner tonight and we watched the volcano still going up. At 10.30 H got our mountain bikes out of the garage and we got ready to go for a bike ride. We went to Reepham station all off road, had a coffee and a scone and then came back via the loop. At one point we were riding along and a short stick flew into my front wheel and stopped me dead. I would have gone over the handlebars but managed lean sideways and slide onto a bank so no bad injuries just a few scratches and no doupt some bruises to come. When we got home we both had text messages from the NHS saying we could book our covid booster. We booked them for the 10th of next month and only have to go a mile down the road for them. H opened his second bottle of wine and its very nice. We watched tipping point, had our baths and then dinner, liver and onions with peas and gravy and a slice of bread and butter.

Monday.

H woke me up at 6 oclock, I was fast asleep. He had already made the tea so I put on a load of washing and poured myself a cup. I cooked 2 eggs for my breakfast and packed my work snack. I washed and dressed etc and got ready to go to work. It was spitting with rain so we had to put all our rain gear on and we were all too hot. I had to pick 10 bunches of beetroot, 48 bunches of carrots, 10 bunches of purple carrots and then trim leeks. I didnt even get to the leeks before the men came to take me to the yard to help them wash and pack everything. When that was done we had our break. Next I had to do 2 more bunches of beetroot, 2 more bunches of purple carrots and a box of loose carrots before walking to leeks. I men joined me when they had finished cutting cauliflowers and we trimmed all the leeks the boss had lifted. We took them to the yard and after they were washed I just had time to pack and weigh up 6 bags before home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a banana. Later we had a glass of wine and I ate the spare slices of ham. At 4 I made a pot of tea, we watched tipping point and had our baths. When I ame down I cooked dinner, pizza and salad.

Sunday

I got up just after 6 stripped my bed and put on a load of washing. H was up and had made a pot of tea so I had a cup. I emptied the dishwasher and put it all away. I had 2 eggs for breakfast because we were going out on our bikes and I wanted to be sure I could get round.It was supposed to be a porridge day. When the washing was done I hung it out. We had a coffee and H got the bikes out of the garage. We went out for a ride around 10 oclock.We had a really nice ride, 34. 33 miles average speed 12.9 mph. When we got home I made us a coffee and put the bikes away. we had a packet of crisps and a glass of wine. We watched the mens world cycling championships, had a bath and I cooked dinner. We had duck legs with mashed potato, cauliflower, broccoli and gravy, it was very nice. I am working again tomorrow.

Saturday

I got up just after 6, put on a load of washing and had toast for breakfast. As soon as we had done we got ready and went to Asda for our weekly shop. When we got home and I had unpacked we had a coffee and an egg custard. I spent £86.47.I hung out the washing. We couldnt go out on our bikes because H had got an appointment with someone in an E E shop in Sainsbury's at 12.15 to sort out his watch. We left home soon after 11 because we didnt know how bad the traffic would be.As it turned out there was very little about so we arrived quite early. It was a treat for me, I havent been to Sainsbury's for ages. I bought myself a nice pair of boots and a few other things and H bought 2 bottles of wine! When we got home we had lunch, french stick with ham and cheese, mustard and a packet of cheese and onion crisps. When the wine was chilled we had a glass and watched the senior womens world champions road race. We had our baths and dinner, chicken curry. Tomorrow we hope to go for a bike ride.

Friday

I got up at 5.40, made a pot of tea and had eggs for breakfast. I packed my work snack, washed and dressed etc and read my book till it was time to go to work. I had to do 5 boxes of leeks and then 50 bunches of beetroot. The men joined me on beetroot and when we were done we all trimmed fennel till break. After break I had to pick tomatoes I GOT 5 trays and it was 12.40 so the boss said I could go home. When I got home H made me a coffee and we both had a slice of flap jack that Andy had given me. It was nice, blackberry flap jack. We sat and watched cycling with a glass of wine then tipping point, had our baths, I washed my hair and we had dinner. It was quiche with potato wedges and mushrooms.

Thursday

I got up just before 6, put on a load of washing and, for a change, had porridge for breakfast. We had a coffee and after I was dressed I hung out the washing and did a bit of clearing up. H got ready to go to his spanish lesson and our daughter and great granddaughter arrived. Daughter bought me a present, the latest book in my collection. I am halfway through the book she brought me last week so I must finish that first. Our g granddaughter is such a lovely little girl, she wanted to play with the water again but we said it was too cold but she still got wet by emptying the bird bath, its a good job I scrubbed it out before she arrived. When H got home I got us a coffee and cheese and biscuits for lunch. After that we put all our summer garden furniture away for the winter. I got my washing in, dry again. We watched tipping point and then H ran me down to the doctors for my flu jab. When we got back I made a pot of tea and cooked dinner. We had salmon with baked potatoes and baked beans.

Wednesday

I missed my blog yesterday which is a shame because i had such a nice day. We went to Wells for lunch and had a really nice meal, a walk round the shops and an ice cream sitting in the sun. H and I didnt want any tea, just a cuppa, so I made son a salad and then he began to pack ready to go home. He didnt leave till after 8 pm and then I went to write my blog only to find my I pad had no charge. Today I had to go to work, it was a nice day and we were busy all morning. I harvested beetroot, carrots, leeks, sweetcorn and fennel. When I got home H made me a coffee. He had been to the Docs this morning for his flu jab and he managed to get me an appointment for one tomorrow. We had our barhs, a cup of tea and dinner. Pizza with salad.

Monday.

I got up at 5.35, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I packed my work snack, dressed and hung the washing out when it was done. I relaxed with my book till it was time to leave for work. When I got as far as Hellesdon the skies just opened and the rain poured down. When I got to work it was still raining and rained on and off till around 10. I had to do 10 bunches of purple carrots, 60 bunches of carrots and then leeks till the men came for me. when we got to the yard I packed 10 boxes of kale and laid all the carrots out ready to be washed. When all that was done we had our break, Andrew went gardening while Andy and I went back for more veg. WE PULLED 4 bunches of beetroot and 6 bunches of spring onions. Andy had to cut cabbages and I had to trim leeks. He joined me as I was finishing and I had a lift as far as the late leeks where i was weeding for the rest of the morning. when I got home H made me a coffee and I made H a chicken sandwich. I cooked some bacon and made son a salad. Next I sat reading my book and my nose growth dropped off !!!!!!! It bled quite a bitbut its not too sore. H cooked dinner on the B B Q. We had belly pork, sausages, burgers, fried onions and baked potatoes. It was nice.

Sunday.

I got up around 6 oclock and put on a load of washing before having breakfast. Next we had a coffee and sat about till son came down. As soon as he did I hung out the washing, emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. H got the bikes out of the garage and checked them over. After son had finished his breakfast we all got ready to go out for a bike ride. We had a nice ride, most of it on the road for a change. We went to my favourite cafe in Hayden on our way back and all had an iced coffee, they are so yummy. We did over 30 miles. When we got home I got the washing in, put the bikes away and made son a salad, while H and I had slices of fruit loaf toasted and buttered. I put the chicken in the oven for tonights dinner, had a bath and read a bit of my book. Dinner was nice, roast chicken with roast potatoes, roast sweet potatoes, onions, mashed potatoes, cattots, cauliflower, runner beans, broccoli and gravy. Now I am watching country file, I have work tomorrow.

Saturday

I got up at 5.40 because H did! He said we could lay in! We had our breakfast. I had toast because I was out of eggs. I put on a load of washing and we got ready to go to Asda. I have to say I think Asda is going down hill. They have less stuff every time I go. When we got home Inunpacked and put everything away, hung out the washing,and emptied the dishwasher. We had a coffee and after I had read my magazine we got ready to go out on our bikes. We went to Reepham station and had a coffee and scone with jam and clotted cream, yummy. when we got home we had a message from no 2 son saying he was on his way home and would be with us aroun 6 oclock! I had half his bedding on the line!Anyway he has arrived safely in time for dinner. He looks well. we had a photo of our daughters toe which is awful! And looks very painful. She is unable to bike because dhe cant get her shoe on. Our dinner was nice,burgers, sausages, eggs, potato wedges and peas, ice cream for pud.

Thursday

I got up at around 6 oclock, H was up and had made the tea so as soon as I had put the washing on we had a cup. Next we had a coffee and I fried my 2 eggs. I hung the washing out when it was done and got on with a bit of housework.At 10 oclock H got feady to go for his spanish lesson and when he left I went outside to work in the garden. I was still out there when he got home again. We had cheese and biscuits for lunch and at 1.50 we left to collect our daughter and go to our brother in laws wake. It was perfect weather for sitting in s garden and catching up with friends and family. It all went so well and the afternoon flew by. when we got home we didnt want any tea so we just had a cuppa and I had a hot cross bun. My washing is all nice and dry. A really strange thing happened at the wake, a butterfly flew into the garden and landed on my sister in laws head. ( the widow) It flew off and round and landed on her again. It sat there long enough for people to take photos of it. I think it visited everybody there! The second person it sat on was H! I had it on my finger and it was beautiful. I am at work tomorrow.

Wednesday.

I got up at 5.15,H was already up, had put on a loaf of bread and made the tea. I had my breakfast and packed my bottle of water and cheese and cucumber as a change from tomato. I hung out yesterdays washing, dressed and got ready to go to work. When I got to work I had to pick 40 bunches of beetroot and 84 bunches of carrots. After I had cut all the string I did the beetroot first and then the carrots Andy picked them and me up and we went to the yard and had our break. Next we both had to go to leeks and trim 6 boxes, we did 3 each and went back to the yard. ( it was my first leeks of the season) I enjoy trimming leeks as long as I can get my knife really sharp. Next Andy hed to wash the leeks and I had to go to the greenhouse and pick tomatoes till home time, I picked 3 trays. when I got home H made me a coffee and I had the crust off his new loaf with butter and marmite. I went outside outside and did a bit of clearing up in the garden,when I went in I took the washing in with me and made a pot of tea. H ran me a bath and when I came down I cooked dinner. We had salmon with a jacket potato, runner beans and leek.

Wet wet wet Tuesday

I got up at 5.35 after hearing H moving about. We had a cup of tea and I cooked my eggs. I put on a load of washing even thoughI knew it was going to rain. I started here around 9.30 and it didnt stop till gone 4 oclock. As we knew it was going to be wet we decided to go out to lunch so I got on with the housework as soon as I had drunk my small coffee.H vacumed downstairs while I cleaned the kitchen. As soon as he was done I dusted and then did the stairs, striped sons bed but wont wash all his bedding till I know we are having a dry day. We got ready at 10.30 and drove to Hunstanton. The rain was amazing and the puddles were huge, some half way across the roads. We had cod and chips with a cup of tea. Walking to and from the car I got soaked even with a brolly! The tide was in and the sea was right up to the wall. When we got home we had a glass of wine and later a cup of tea and I had a bowl of cornflakes. Tomorrow I am at work so I expect I will be ploughing through the mud.

Monday

I got up at 5.25, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, washed and dressed and hung out the washing when it was done. I relaxed till it was time to go to work. I had to pick 20 bunches of beetroot, 72 bunches of carrots and 10 bunches of purple carrots. The men came to pick everything up and we went back to the yard to wash and pack everything and have our break. Next I had to walk back to the beetroot and do 10 more bunches and 24 bunches of spring onions.When that was done I spent the rest of the morning weeding. When I got home son had left and H said our other son and his wife had cycled round to see him. I had to quickly make us each a sandwich then shower and change ready to go to the dentist. When I got back we had a glass of wine and I sliced up the tomatoes for dinner tonight. We had a quiche with a huge pan of fried tomatoes. Son and I played crib last night and I won 2 games to 1. Son was one game ahead up till then so our 2 weeks of playing ended up a draw!

Sunday (hospital)

I got up at around 6 oclock and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and had 2 eggs for breakfast. We had a coffee nd I read my book till our son got up. I hung out the washing.AT 10 oclock I dressed and got ready to go to the hospital. A lovely nurse looked at the horrible growth on my nose and said I can have it taken out. It will be so nice to have it gone. I have an appointment in October to have the operation. H came and picked me up from the hospital and when we got home he made me a coffee. Next I got lunch, H had a bacon sandwich and son had his usual salad. I had bacon and a tomato. We had a few dates for desert. We were having a roast for dinner and I had bought a huge leg of lamb. It was so big it wouldnt fit in my normal meat tin so I had to use my big turkey tin! Dinner was nice we had roast potatoes, sweet potatoes, runner beans, broccoli, carrots and gravy.

Saturday

H woke me up at 6.25! I cant believe I slept so late. I put on a load of washing,H poured me a cup of tea and I had my breakfast. As soon as I was finished I cleaned my teeth, dressed and we went to Asda. When we got our son was up so we all had a coffee and a merangue. I hung the washing out and we got the bbikes out of the garage. We all got ready to go out for a ride. It was a great ride, the temperature was perfect and we all enjoyed the ride. we rode off road to Themlethorpe where we had a coffee and cake. We carried on along the track where we got on to the road as far as Reepham high school and then back on the track all the rest of the way home. As soon as we got home I got the lunches and did a repair job on sons climbing shorts.H and son went outside to see if they could find the leak in the camper van and repair it. Its all done now they have to wait till its dry and see if it works.I had my bath and cooked dinner. We had mackeral with jacket potatoes, peas, broccoli and mushrooms. They are now watching a film. Tomorrow morning I have to go to the hospital.

Friday

We got up at 5.30 after having a horrible nights sleep. I put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea.We had our breakfast and I hung out the washing. I packed my cheese and tomato and got ready to go to work. I had to pick the tomatoes first and only got 2 and a bit boxes. Next I picked 10 bunches of beetroot and 10 bunches of golden beetroot.We went back to the yard and washed everything. We had our break snd I spent the rest of the morning weeding. When I got home H made md a coffee and I made son a salad. I finished making the cottage pie and made s pot of tea. Son went to the climbing centre and we watched tippinh point with a cup of tea. We had our dinner and I went up to watch tv. We had a massive downpour and then got a message from son to say his new window in his van leaks! I hope he will be able to fix it. My washing all got dry aagain.

Thursday was a Nova day.

I go up at 6.45, so a really good lay in for me. I put o a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. H got up at 7. I finished my book and H watched tv. When our son came down just before 9 I hung the washing out, vacumed downstairs and we had a coffee. Nova came round just after 10 with our daughter. I think she enjoyed her time here, she loves to play with our hose pipe so it was lucky it was warm. Our youngest granddaughter arrived a little later and all 6 of us got soaked! She is such a lovely little girl,her middle name is Joy and she certainly is. When they left we had lunch and at 2.30 my sister in law called me, we had a nice chat, she is really missing her husband, so sad. Next Thursday is his funeral so it wont be such a happy day as this one. H went to the doctors but they more or less said he is suffering from old age.! For dinner we had chicken with roast and mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrots, cabbage and gravy. Son bought us a magnum for pud. This morning I got a letter from the hospital saying that the scan I had in June was all clear. I was farely sure I was O K because I am feeling so well but its still a relief to have it confirmed.

Wednesday

I got up at 5.40, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I packed my work snack, hung out the washing,dressed etc and read my book till it was time for me to go to work. I had to do 50 bunches of beetroot and then carrots. I had only done a few cattots when Andy said we were going back to the yard to wash everything and have our break. After break we did 96 cos lettuce, 96 flat lettuce and 24 oakleaf lattuce. After that I went back to carrots and did 96 bunches. I did some weeding and a few tomatoes till home time. It was really too hot for working! When I got home I made us a coffee and took the meat out of the freezer for a BBQ this evening. Belly pork, sausages,burgers, corn on the cob, potatoes and fried onions. H cooked it all excpt the onions. It was very nice. Tomorrow our great granddaughter is coming round.

Tuesday (I think!)

I got up at 6.25,put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. H came down at 7.15 so both of us had had a good nights sleep. I hung the washing out and read my book till son came down. H and I had a coffee and I went up and dressed. H went down to the doctors for a blood test and son went out to work on his van. when H came back we had another coffee and he got ready to go for a spanish lesson so I went outside and worked in the garden. When H got back we had lunch, he had a pot noodle, son had a salad and I had 2 cream crackers. We all got ready to go out on our bikes. We only bad a short ride because son wanted to work on his van again. H and I had no idea what day it was! He always has his spanish lessen on Thursday so we kept thinking thats what it was. When we got home from our ride H and I had a bath and I cooked dinner. We had potato wedges, sweet potato wedges, mushrooms, peas and steak. Ice cream again for pud. I am at work tomorrow.

Monday.

I got up at 5.20, made a pot of tea, put on a load of washing and had my eggs for breakfast. I hung out the washing before leaving. I had to do 10 bunches of beetroot, 8 bunches of purple carrots, 60 bunches of carrots, 14 bunches of spring onions and all the runner beans. Andrew and I washed and packed everything and then he went off to cut peoples lawns and I went weeding. When I got home H made me a coffee and I got my washing in all nice and dry. Son was working on his van and he cut an enornus bit out the side and replaced it with a window. I didnt do much all afternoon,but I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had salmon, broccoli, corn on the cob and jacket potato. We had ice cream for pudding.

Sunday bike ride.

I got up at 10 past 6 and put on a load of washing.I wasnt feeling very well and had a bit of a stomack upset. Inhad a cup of tea and 2 eggsbecause I hoped to go out on my bike. H got all 3 bikes out of the garage and son got up. I told him I had a bad tummy ache so he said he would work on his van and see how I was feeling at 10.30 and if I was ok we would go then. I didnt feel too bad so we all got ready to leave. we had a really nice ride going to places we have never been before. First we went to Ringland hills and on to Ling.We have all done that before but then it changed , we went off road, past huge lakes, through fields that warned you fo cows with calfs who could be agressive and worst of all one that said beware of the bull! We couldnt see a bull but it was so hilly and one hill H and I both had to walk up. I have always said if I have to srart walking up hills I would give up cycling, but I think I can be excused on this hill because not only was it steep but also the gtass was really long. Son took a long run at it and just made it and he is 39 years younger than me! We took H to the new cafe along MARRIOTTS Way that we had tried when we did the ride without him in the week and then rode the rest of the way home on the track.It was about 25 miles in all.I got lunch and then relaxed till dinner with my book. We had a BBQ this evening, chicken legs, lamb chops, sausages, corn on the cob and fried onions, all washed down with a beer. The men had bananas with maple syrup but I had an orange because I dont like cooked bananas.

Saturday.

I got up at 5.50 and H was up and had made the tea so he poured me a cup and I had eggs for breakfast. As soon as I had done I washed and dressed and we went to Asda for our weekly shop. I put it all away when we got home and H made us a coffee which we had with a merangue. our son came down and had his breakfast.As soon as he had finished he got ready to go to the climbing centre popping in to screw fix on the way. H cut the front grass and it looks nice. I worked in the back garden, its looking overgrown and needs a good tidy up. I stopped working at lunch time and made H a bacon sandwich and son and myself a salad. They were just done when son came home. He had enjoyed his bouldering. After lunch son began work on his van again and I did more clearing up in the garden. For dinner tonight we had roast lamb, roast potatoes and sweet potatoes, broccoli, carrots and runner beans. we had melon for desert.

Friday. Work.

I got up at 5.40, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed a tomato, a slice of cheese and a bottle of water, dressed and hung out the washing. I left at 7.30 to go to work. My boss is going on holiday next week so hes paid me for it already so I got 2 wage packets. I must remember not to spend it all at once! I had to pick 50 bunches of beetroot, 20 bunches of golden beetroot, 90 bunches of carrots and 20 bunches of purple. I had almost done everything except the purple carrots and the men came up and wanted an extra 10 bunches of carrots and another 12 bunches of purple ones so we finished them together and all went back to the yard. I had to pick tomatoes for the rest of the morning. I went to the butchers on the way home and spent £81. 76. When I got home H made me a coffee and we watched the tour of spain. IT was over early so we watched tipping point all the way through. I had a bath and then cooked dinner. We had gammon steaks with potato wedges, runner bean and broccoli.

Thursday.(weigh day)

I managed to lay in till just after 6. I made a pot of tea and H came down so I poured and we had breakfast. I put on a load of washing and hung out yesterdays. We had a coffee and I hung todays washing out. Before eating my breakfast I weighed myself and I had lost almost half a pound! Last week I was 133.6 lbs and this week I am 133.2 lbs. I expect I will be up again next week. H got sons and my bike out of the garage because we were going for a ride while H was at his spanish lesson. We had a nice ride on and off the track and tried a new cafe along the way. Son had a slice of G F carrot cake and I had a sausage roll which was warm, just out of the oven, we both had a coffee. When we got home I prepared a cottage pie for dinner tonight, I forgot to say we rode 24and a half miles. As it was all in the countryside we saw loads of wild life and also had a look round a church where there were grave stones going back to the sixteen hundreds. Dinner was nice. Tomorrow I have to work. I have a growth on my nose and on Tuesday the Doctor looked at it and said he would refer me to the hospital to get it removed. I was so pleased about this because I can see it all the time as its grown quite a bit, plus, I have caught it a couple of times with my finger nail and it really pours with blood! Well we were just about to leave this morning and the phone rang, it was the hospital and I have an appointment Sunday week! How quick is that!

Wednesday work.

I got up at 5.35, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had eggs for breakfast. I packed my cheese and tomato, plus my bottle of water and then relaxed till it was time to go to work. I had to walk straight to the beetroot and do 50 bunches. Each bunch had 5 beetroot which means I picked 250 beets. I actually pulled up more than that because some were split and had to be discarded. I did even more carrots and there 8 carrotd in a bunch. at 11am Ihad to walk to the glasshouse and pick tomatoes for the rest of the morning. When I left off the boss gave me 3 corn on the cob and a load of runner beans. H made me a coffee when I got home and he had made a loaf of bread so he cut me off a crust and I spread it with butter and had it for my lunch. I made son his usual salad and sat and relaxed for a bit. I feel pretty tired because we were playing cribbage till well past midnight and then I couldnt get to sleep. (I lost) We watched the bike race, the end of tipping point and had our baths. when I came down I cooked dinner.We had ribeye steaks, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, potato wedges and corn on the cob. Son has gone climbing .
