Wednesday

I got up at 5 and put on a load of washing. I had eggs for breakfast with a cup of tea. I packed a tomato, a slice of cheese and a bottle of water for work. I hung out the washing even though it was rather dull because it was supposed to get out later. After I was dressed and ready for work I sat and read my book till it was time to go. We had to go planting straight away but the plants were awful. Because of all the wet around fifty percent had rotted off which made it hard work. It didnt take us as long as usual to plant a trailer load of trayy because we had to throw so many away! The boss will have a shortage of greens this Autumn, Winter and Spring. We finished around 11 and the men and I had to pick 60 bunches of carrots, 60 bunches of beetroot and 35 bunches of radishes. When they were done the men took them to the yard to wash and I had to weed parsnips again.When I got home H made me a coffee and I also had a bowl of corn flakes with a sliced banana on top. We watched the tour de france but it was the time trial so I wasnt too interested. We watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner, salmon with a jacket potato and corn on the cob. Tomorrow is going to be a different day for me!

Tuesday

I got up at 5 oclock, made a pot of tea and cooked 2 eggs for my breakfast. I packed my usual cheese and tomato and a bottle of water. After I was dressed and ready for work I hung out yesterdays washing and read till it was time to go to work. We were going to be planting for most of the day.We got off to a good start althought the plants were really tall and had become twisted together. We had our break at 10 and about half an hour and one of the wheels fell off the planter! The boss took it down to the yard and got it welded back on. While that was being done the 4 of us went weeding the parsnip bed. That was a bit of a bonus for me because I will have to weed it in any spare time I getin the next few weeks and now I will have less to do. When the boss came back we carried on planting and when we got to the end of a row and were refilling the planter for the next round Andy kicked up what looked like a stone, picked it up and it looked like stone age axe. After we had all looked at it he dropped it back on the field. I picked it up to bive back to him and he said he didnt want it! So now i have it. When I got home I washed it and its amazing. I had a coffee,a banana and a cream cracker. I took some photos of my axe and put them on face book, I have had loads of comments about it. We had a cup of tea, our baths and dinner, chicken curry. I am working again tomorrow.

Monday.

I got up at 5oclock and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea nd had a cup with 2 eggs for my breakfast. I packed a bottle of water, a tomato and a slice of cheese for my work break and after I had cleaned my teeth and dressed etc I sat and relaxed till it was time for me to leave for work. Andrew, Andy and I had to go together to harvest the vegetables for todays orders. Andrew did the radishes and spring onions while Andy and I did 120 bunches of carrots. Next all 3 of us picked 60 bunches of beetroot and the boss rang to say he wanted 10 more bunches of onions and 4 more bunches of carrots. We took everyhing back to the yard. The men washed and packed everything while I picked broard beans. I had done a box and a half when I was called in for our break.As soon as we were done we all went planting. We planted for 2 hours ( cauliflowers and purple sprouting broccoli.) After that I finished the 5 boxes of beans while the men cut 6 dozen lettuce. It was then almost 12.30 so I had to de shoot the tomato plants till home time. when I got home H made me a coffee and I had a banana. We had our baths and then dinner, fish, chips and mushy peas. I have to work again tomorrow.

Sunday

We got up at 5.20 and had our breakfast. I put on a load of washing and H put on a loaf of bread.I hung the washing out when it was done and did a bit of clearing up in the kitchen. H got our bikes out so we could go for a ride when the bread was done. Yhe loaf came out well! We had a nice ride and i got a QOM (strava) I didnt think I would ever be that again at my age. We rode 10.5 miles off road and 20 miles on the road, the roads were very quiet. I have only done 250 miles in June which isnt very good but with the wet weather and hospital appointment etc I guess thats not too bad. July will probibly be low too because its a busy planting month at work and I wont have so many days off to enjoy myself. When we got home we had a coffee, a cheese sandwich and a hot cross bun. This afternoon we watched the Tour, I got my washing in, all nice and dry. H had a glass of wine and I had a cup of tea. We had our baths and then dinner, yesterdays left over cottage pie with peas. Tomorrow I have to go to work.

Saturday.

I was up just before 4 am because my tummy was still playing up. I didnt bother to go back to bed but dosed on the settee till H came down, then I made a pot of tea and we had our breakfast. I had eggs H had toast. Next we had a small coffee and H went to pick up our bread maker. The woman said she had made 2 loaves and they had come out perfect! When he got back we got ready to go out on our bikes. We were almost ready to go when the phone rang and it was our son in law asking if we wanted to go along the track to Reepham station with them. It was where we were just about to go so we just waited 15 minuites for them and we all went together. It was a really nice ride made perfect by coffee and scones at the station.When we got home we had a coffee and watched the Tour De France. I made a cottage pie for dinner with mince I had prepared earlier. For dessert we had cherries. We have had a nice day.

Friday..

I didnt have a bad sleep considering how my stomach was playing up.We got up at 6 and had our breakfast.I had tea and eggs and H had tea and toast. We had a small coffee too. We wanted to go out on our bikes but it kept raining and drizzling on and off so in the end we didnt go. H had a ride on Zwift while I got on with the housework. I swept and washed the kitchen and toilet floors, vacumed all downstairs and dusted it all. I wiped all the cupboard doors and worktops and put the rubbish our. I got the bin in when it had been emptied and got our lunch. H had a bacon butty and I had a cuppa soup and a banana, we also had a coffee. I took some pork slices out of the freezer for dinner tomight and some garlic bread.I read most of the afternoon, made a pot of tea and we watched tipping point. We had a bath and then dinner. Mushrooms, tomatoes, corn on the cob, pork slices and garlic bread, it was nice. Now we hope to go out on our bikes tomorrow.

C T Scan day. (Thursday)

Once again I was up all night sitting on the toiler! Thank goodness I should get some sleep tonight. I had a small cup of tea at 6 this morning and nothing else. I took my earrings out and my navel stud,took off my copper braclet and my necklace and had a shower. We left here at 11.15 and H dropped me off at the hospital. I found where I had to go and everyone at the hospital was so helpful. I think you have to be a special person to work in a hospital.I had my scan which was very straight forward and no trouble at all. When it was over I was given a drink and biscuits. I rang H and he picked me up, It took him 23 minuites from home to hospital. When we got home we had a coffee and a toasted hot cross bun.We watched a film this afternoon, another Sherlock Holmes. For dinner we had a quiche with grilled mushrooms and grilled tomatoes with a cheese atuffing. I am glad today is over and I feel fine apart from a stomach ache which is quite normal as i have been pumped up with gas and it takes 24 hours to dispirse.

Wednesday

I cant start this with what time I got up as I usually do because I didnt go to bed! I took the medicine at 8 pm as instructed an it began to work on the dot of 12 midnight then I was up all night. I did doze on the settee for a bit. I put on a load of washing and had egg on toast for breakfast. I hung the washing out between rushing to the toilet. H got my sun lounger out so I sat in the sun for a while. For lunch I had 2 eggs on 2 slices of toast. I watered the tomato plants and got the washing in. We had our baths and watched a Sherlock Holmes film. For dinner I had poached cod on yet another slice of toast, now its nothing more to eat for me till I get home from the hospital. I have to take the medicine again this evening at 8 and its horrible.

Tuesday

I got up at 5 but waited for my breakfast till H came down then I had a cup of tea and an egg on a slice of toast. Because I am on a diet that I must stick to till ive had my scan on Thursday I had to have a really small cup of tea so I also had a glass of water. I did a load of washing and hung it out. H got the bikes out of the garage ready for us to go for a ride. H had a coffee but i couldnt. We went on a new off road bit of a ride that our son discovered when he went for a run. We really enjoyed it even though there are some very steep hills. I was shoked to find I won 5 cups (strava.At the age of 82 I never expected to win cups ever again. When we got home we put the bikes away and had lunch. I had 2 slices of white toast with boiled eggs and H had tomato soup he also had a coffee and a toasted hot cross bun. I had a glass of water he had a glass of wine. He opened his chocolates this afternoon and I cant have any of them either. I got my washing in, dry.H mowad the front lawn and I went out front as well and cleaned up some of the brick weave. For dinner I had poached cod on a slice of toast, H had cod too but with eggs chips and peas. I was allowed another small cup of tea. At 8 oclock I have to take the dreadded medicine.

Friday (wet again)

We got up just before 5 and I put on a load of washing. We had our breakfast and then got ready to go to Asda. When we got home H made the coffee and i unpacked and put everything away. It was pouring with rain so I didnt hang the washing out , i will tumble it tomorrow. As it is wet I decided I would get on with some housework. I brought the vacum cleaner downstairs and started in the entrance hall next was the dining room and I just started when we had a message to say no 2 son was coming home for the weekend. So I stopped work and we went to the butchers. When we got home we had another coffee and then I carried on with the housework. For lunch we had a cheese roll. This afternoon we watched a film which I enjoyed, we had a cup of tea and I had a bath and washed my hair. we had lasagne for dinner with strawberries and cream. We are having football rammed down our throats again tonight so I am reading a book.

Thursday ( A bit wet)

I got up just before 5 oclock? I had a huge double yolker egg for my breakfast, packed my snack for work and read my book for a while before getting ready to go. We had some rain in the night. When I got to work I was weeding straight away and by the time I had walked to where I was weeding it had begun to rain. I waited for a while but it wasnt going to stop so I had to put on my plastic coat and trousers and worked till 10. I had my break sitting in the mud and rain in the field! After break I carried on weeding and it stopped raining around 10.30. I was so pleased to get my plastic gear off I was so hot. When Andy came along with the tractor and trailer I had to join him on radishes. We had to have 65 bunches and then 12 bunches of carrots. The first ones of the season though the boss had picked a few on Monday. I left off at 1 pm as usual. When I got home H said our bread maker had gone wrong! He had tipped out the dough into a plastic bag! As soon as I had washed my hands I turned the oven knocked back the dough and made bread rolls. I had a shower and started a new book. For dinner we had sausages, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, and chips with a bread roll. yummy.

Wednesday work.

I bot up at 5 and put on a load of washing. I had 2 eggs for breakfast with a cup of tea and packed my lunch. 4 cream crackers with butter and marmite, a banana and a bottle of water. I hung out the washing, washed and dressed ready to go to work. I just sat and read my book till lt was time to leave. My first job was taking the side shoots out of the tomatoes and winding them up their strings. It took an hour and then I had to go weeding fot the rest of the day execpt for around 15 minuits when I helped Andy pick 45 bunches of radishes. When I got home H made me a cup of coffee, he had put my garden chair out for me but it was too hot to sit out there, I had had enough sun for today. I got the washing in, and read more of my book. We had our baths and then dinner, chicken curry. MORE FOOTBALL TONIGHT.

Tuesday.

We got up just before 5 again! It was just too hot. I put on a load of washing while H made the tea. We both had toast for breakfast, I had butter and marmite on mine and H had the same as yesterday.When the washing was done I hung it out. At 7 we had a coffee and then got ready to go to our daughters so we could take our granddaughter to work. As soon as we got back home I changed into my shorts and went outside to work in the garden. I spent all morning clearing up the patio, it was a right mess but it looks much better now. We had another coffee and for lunch H had cheese and biscuits but I wasnt hungry so he just made me a cuppa soup. This afternoon our granddaughter rang to tell us she passed her test. We are so pleased, she already has a nice car that her other grandmother gave her so the road is hers. Our daughter rang to thank grandad for taking her to work this morning but we wont have to do it again. We had our bathsand then dinner which was home made fish and chips. The chips were so yummy I could eat another plate full. My chips are never the same twice but I think it must be down to the verity of the potato.

Monday.

We got up at 5 oclock once again because it was too hot to sleep. We had our breakfast, H had toast with jam peanut butter and a sliced banana on top. I had 2 eggs but I was most annoyed because one broke as I put it in the pan. (second day running). We had a cup of tea and H was waiting for me to finish mine so he could make the coffee. I did a load of washing and when it was done I hung it out. I dressed, made the bed and did a bit of housework. I read 2 chapters of my book and then went outside to work in the garden. I cut the grass round the oval bed so now all the lawn looks great. We sat in the sun but it was really too hot. At 10 we went for a bike ride, it was really lovely, the track was so shady and the temperature was perfect. We stayed off road all the way to Reepham station where H treated us to coffee and some wonderful fruit scones with jam and clotted cream. After lunch we rode home again going via the loop so we did just over 22 and a half miles. when we got home we put the bikes away, I got the washing in and took the shoots out of the tomatoes.I made a pot of tea, we had our baths and I cooked dinner. We had salmon, jacket spuds and baked beans. there was no tipping point etc because, guess what? which ever channel you turn on its FOOTBALL what a load of rubbish! I cant believe the people who decide what to put on t v are thick enough to think every body wants to watch such crap.

Sizzling Sunday.

I didnt blog yesterday because I didnt do anything worth talking about. To day has been better. We got up at 5 because it was too hot to sleep. We had our breakfast and then a coffee. H got our bikes out of the garage and noticed that sons bike had a flat tyre.H mended 2 punctures in it yesterday. He took the tube out and tested it in a bowl of water and found that it was actually under an old patch so he did it again. Iemptied the dishwasher and did all the ironing before it became too hot. At 8.30 we got ready to go out on our bikes. It was lovely, we went round past Blickling Hall and because we were early the roads were very quiet. It was 32.5 miles. When we got home we had a coffee and some cheese and biscuits.We sat outside but it eas too hot so we both came in and watched the Swiss cycle tour. We had a glass of wine and I put the meat in the oven. We had a cool bath and dinneR, roast lamb. cauliflower, carrots, peas, roast and mashed potatoes and gravy. I had an apple for pud.

Friday

We both got up just after 5am because it was so warm upstairs and we couldnt sleep. We had our breakfast,H had toast and I had eggs. We both had a cup of tea. Next I washed, dressed and we got ready to go to Asda.H filled the car with petrol while I did the shopping. When we got home I unpacked and put every thing away while H made the coffee. I had a hot cross bun with mine and H had a toasted tea cake with his. We got our bikes out of the garage and after I had emptied the dish washer I went up to change so we could go for a bike ride. We had a nice ride, almost 28 miles and over half of it off road. When we got home we put the bikes away and had our lunch. Coffee and a bowl of cherries for me and the same for H plus another toasted tea cake. I changed out of my lycra and watered my front pots and the strip at the side of the house where I have planted petunias. We watched tipping point, had our baths then dinner. We had sausages, potato wedges, grilled tomatoes, fried onions and eggs. .I emailed my sister in law as I always do on Fridays and now I am waiting for corrie.

Thursday fun with Nova.

I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing and had 2 eggs for breakfast. We had a cup of tea and later a small coffee. After I was dressed I got on with some housework, it was my day to clean all my kitchen cupboard doors and drawers. After that I hung out the washing, I vacumed downstairs while H changed a few bits on the tandem. At 10 oclock no 1 son cycled round to see us which was nice, he hadnt been here long when his sister came round with our great granddaugrter Nova. She is such a cute little girl. She had fun playing on the lawn with the water from the water sprinkler. She loved our bumble bee nest and watched them flying in and out for ages, she found a beetle on the grass which I let crawl over my hand so she could get a good look at it and she wanted it to crawl over her hand too. She is almost 2 but I still cant believe how much she can say and how much she knows. We had a cheese sandwich for lunch with radishes and cherry tomatoes and a coffee. I got my washing dry again and we watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner. chinese style pork slices, potatoes, broccoli, and carrots.

Wednesday work.

I got up just after 5am and put on a load of washing. I had 2 eggs for breakfast and a mug of tea. I packed 4 cream crackers with butter and marmite, a banana and my empty bottle. I dressed, hung out the washing, H got my bike out of the garage for me. I had to cycle to work today because H needed the car. I left home at 7.10 and the ride took me 33 minuites. We went planting straight away. we finished it at 10.40 and I had to go weeding the leek bed again. Andy called me to help pull radishes around 11.40 but we only had to do 45 bunches so it didnt take long and then it was back to the weeding for me till home time. I forgot to say the boss filled my water bottle for me, I took it empty because its heavy full in my back pack and I am a bit old for heavy loads. I took a different route on the way home. When I got in H made me a coffee and I put my bike away. I got my washing in and made some buns. I watched tipping point, had a nice cool shower and cooked dinner. We had salmon, a jacket potato and peas.

Tuesday work.

I got up at 5.45, made a pot of tea and had a cup with a slice of toast for my breakfast. I packed 4 cream crackers spread with butter and marmite, a banana and a bottle of water for my work break, dressed and made my bed. I sat and relaxed till it was time for me to leave for work. When I arrived there was a lot of excitment because a hot air balloon was about to land in our field right where we were planning to plant. The boss rushed across the field and the person in charge saw him and heated the balloon so up it went again and just hopped over the fence into the next field. WE planted for 4 hours and put in thousands of greens. We finished at 14 minuites past 12 and so I did a bit of weeding till it was my home time at 1 oclock. When I got home H made me a coffee, a cup of soup and a pot noodle! We also had a G and T. I cleared a bit more of the garden path, made a pot of tea and had a bath. For dinner we had toad in the hole with potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots,aspragus and gravy. I have to work again tomorrow, there are more greens to plant and the celeriac is big enough to go in as well.

Monday

I got up at 6.20 and put on a load of washing. H poured me a cup of tea and I had a slice of toast and marmite for breakfast. We had a coffee and I went outside to water the tomatoes. H got the tandem out of the garage and his mountain bike and he swapped the tyres over, his m t b ones on to the tandem and vice visa. We had a coffee and sat in the garden. I did yet more weeding and hung out the washing. For lunch we had a cuppa soup and a toasted hot cross bun. Later we had a G and T. My is nice and dry again. For dinner tonight I made a beef casserole with potatoes, green beans, carrots, onions,celery and peas. We had our baths, I made a pot of tea and we had dinner. The casserole was quite tasty. My boss rang to check I was still ok to work tomorrow so I did more clearing up in the garden to make sure I can still bend. Our garden is starting to look nice but its all much later than last year. I read last years diary for today a year ago and it said I had dead headed all the roses! Well this year they are miles behind and are only just budding up.

Sunday.

I got up at 5.50, made a pot of tea and had fried bell pepper and an egg for my breakfast. H had peanut butter and jam on toast. We also had a small coffee. I fed the tomato plants and did a bit of weeding and H got the bikes out of the garage and wiped them over ready for us to go for a ride. I had a banana and got dressed ready to go. We left home at 9.15 and rode along the track to Whitwell station where we went along the road for about a mile and then got back on the track and rode to Aylsham. It was nice and as we were quite early the track was pretty quiet. From there we came back home on the road. WEdid just over 27 miles. When we got home we put the bikes away and had a coffee with a toasted hot cross bun. I went outside to weed a flower bed at the front of the house but I had only just started when it began to rain so I gave up and came in to watch a cycle race with H. We had a cup of tea and I started a new book. For dinner we had a quiche with mushrooms, peas and potato wedges. I had a shower and filled the dish washer ready to put on before I go to bed.

Saturday.

I got up just before 6, made a pot of tea and had eggs and tea for breakfast.H got up just before 7 and had tea and toast. It was quite dull and everywhere was pretty damp so we decided not to go out on our bikes after all. We had a small coffee and I dressed so I could get the bins in when they had been emptied. Later on it brightened up so I got on with my clearing up in the garden.We had another coffee mid morning and H had a toasted hot cross bun with his. For lunch we had cheese and biscuits with a hot chocolate and later on in the afternoon we had a glass of wine. We both relaxed in the sun for as long as we could stand it and then went in and had our baths. For dinner we had pizza with salad and a mug of tea. I had a apple for dessert. Something has happened to my strava app and there is a little padlock on it and though I can see my ride nobody else can.Its so annoying.

Friday (a little rain this afternoon)

I got up at 6 oclock, put on a load of washing and had tea and toast for breakfast. After breakfast we got ready and went to Asda for our weekly shop. My right leg wasnt too good this morning and I was glad I had a trolly to hold on to when it kept giving way. When we got home I unpacked and put everything away and we had a coffee. I read my magazine and hung out the washing. After doing a bit of housework I went outside to do a bit more clearing up in the garden. It was going well till my leg started playing up again and I had to go in. We had to have another coffee and I sat in the conservatory and read my book. We had soup for lunch and later on a glass of wine. At 4 oclock H made a pot ao tea. We had our baths and then dinner, steak pie with cabbage and potatoes. It began to rain around 3.30 which is welcome in our garden.

Thursday ( hot and humid)

I got up at 6.10 and put on a load of washing. I had eggs for breakfast and a mug of tea. When the washing was done I hung it out and we had a small coffee. I read 2 chapters of my new book and then we had to get ready to go out on our bikes, meeting our daughter on the track. It was really lovely, we biked to Reepham station all off road and only a bit of road on the way back. H bought us coffee and cake at the station, daughter and I had millionaires cheese cake and H had a fruit scone with butter, jam and clotted cream. When we were home again we had a coffee but nothing to eat because we still felt full. I put the bikes away and we sat in the garden but it was really too hot.( 24 degrees and very humid) I pulled a few more weed out of the garden and went in to watch the cycle race which was an exciting stage. I got the washing in, watched tippingpoint, had a bath and cooked dinner. We had sausages, eggs bacon and a huge pan of fried tomatoes it was yummy. We heard today that our second great grand child is a boy so its blue wool for me.

Wednesday (hot again)

I didnt get up till 6.20 when I put on a load of washing and had 2 eggs and a mug of tea for for breakfast. We had a small coffee and I hung out the washing. H sat and watched tv and I started a new book. Around 9 oclock the door bell rang and it was our daughter in law with 3 plants for our garden, 2 sunflowers and an Angels trumpet. H and I sat in the garden till it became too hot. We had another coffee and I spent 2 hours weeding.For lunch we had a strawberry milk shake with ice cream and a slice of fruit cake.I made a batch of melting moments and worked a bit longer in the garden. I am cutting round the bricks that edge the lawn, I am doing it for 2 reasons, first, it makes the garden look so much tidier and second, my boss wants me back next Tuesday and Wednesday so I need to be able to bend down for 5 hours at a time without getting a backache. I have been neglecting bending much lately. This afternoon we went to our granddaughters with her birthday gifts. Our great granddaughter is such a dear little girl. She is not yet 2 but she can say so many things. She recited baa baa blacksheep and sang old Mac Donald, she doesnt stop talking. When we got home I made a pot of tea, we watched tipping point, had our baths and had our dinner which was nice, chicken curry.

Tuesday

I got up at 6.20 put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea. H came down at 6.50. when the washing was done I hung it out, we had a coffee and I had toast and marmite for breakfast. Son got up at 9 and H got our bikes out of the garage. As he did almost 80 miles yesterday I wasnt expecting him to come with us but he did. I think he was suffering and he shouldnt have come. We went to Heydon but as it was Tuesday the cafe was closed but the pub was open. When wegot homi I prepared lunch, H had a bacon butty and son had a salad. I watered the tomatoe plants and planted some more beans. I sew up my knitting and sew on buttons. I had had enough sun for the day so I stayed in and prepared the veg for dinner tonight. We had our baths and I cooked dinner. H had a pork chop, son and I had ribeye steaks, we all had mushrooms, peas, roast cauliflower and potato wedges. We had melon for dessert. As soon as we were done son packed all his things and got ready to leave, we took him to Thorpe station and his train was on time. We have had a lovely weekend, apart from the card games which he won!
