Thursday

I got up at 6.10 and stripped the bed and put everything in the washing machine. I had my usual breakfast and then we had a coffee. I hung the washing out when it was done and did the ironing up to date. I read a bit of my book while H was watching tv and then he got my bike out of the garage for me. He is having a Spanish lesson this motning while I go for a bike ride. I had a nice ride (23.19 miles.) When I got back H was cutting the front lawn so I put my bike away and made the coffee. He had spaghetti on toast for lunch and I had a banana. I had an iced coffee while I was out and it was perfect, sitting in the sun with the swallows flying around overhead and feeding their young. This afternoon we went to the garden centre because H wanted some grass seed and next I went to the wool shop to get some wool to knit a matinee coat. When we got home I made a pot of tea and we watched tipping point. We had our baths and then dinner, haddock, potato wedges, mushrooms and green beans from the garden. Tomorrow I have work and I am not looking forward to it.

Wednesday

I got up at 5.40 and had my breakfast. As I am not working I only had 1 egg this morning with my mug of tea. We had a coffee and H put on a loaf. I took some chicken out of the freezer for dinner tonight (curry). When the bread was done we popped to the City so I could put a cheque in the bank. We came straight back home afterwards and had a coffee. I had a banana and a biscuit for lunch and went outside to do some clearing up in the garden. I hed only filled one bucket and it began to rain so I came in. When it stopped I went out again and clear up some more. I came in for tipping point, had a bath and then our curry. We have had quite a lot of thunder this evening but very little rain.

Tuesday.

I got up at 5.20 and put on a load of washing. I had my usual breakfast and packed my usual snack for work. I read my book till the washing was done then I hung it out. I got ready and went to work. We planted first and its the last with the planter this year. There will still be lettuce to plant by hand. When that was done I was weeding for the rest of the day. It wasnt a nice day I had a row with the bosses wife who has claimed my axe head. She informs me that everything on the field belongs to her even the bits of broken blue china I sometimes pick up. She is a nasty piece of work and as far as i am concerned she can stick it where the sun doesnt shine. H made me a cup of coffee and said I shouldnt go to work again but I think it would be cutting off my nose to spite my face. However as I have a growth on my nose I may have to have it cut off anyway! We had pork slives, potatoes, eggs and peas for dinner. and I dont have to work again till Friday.

Monday.

I got up at 4.40 because I couldnt sleep, it was too hot. I read my book for half an hour and then I made a pot of tea and cooked 2 eggs for my breakfast.I packed my usual cheese, tomato and water and then I dressed and read a bit more till it was time for me to leave for work. I had to walk to the spring onions and pick 22 bunches, next 30 bunches of radishes and 48 bunches of carrots. After they were finished I had to pick 18 kilos of broard beans. I finished all my jobs so I joined the men and packed lettuce. We took everything to the yard and washed the carrots, onions and radishes, packed them and put everything in the van for the boss to deliver. We had our break and then all went back to fill the rest of the orders. more radishes, spring onions and carrots and then we all pulled up the rest of the leeks from the plant bed ready for us to plant tomorrow. It took till my home time. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a banana. We watched the Olympic M T B race and I thought it was really good, a scarey course.We watched tipping point, had our baths and dinner, salmon, baked beans and jacket potatoes. I have to work again tomorrow.

Sunday

I got up at 6.20 and put on a load of washing. H was up and had made the tea so he poured me a cup and when I had drunk it he made the coffee! I had eggs for breakfast. I didnt hang out my washing right away because they said it would rain but it brightened up so I hung it out. H went upstairs to turbo and I emptied the dishwasher and cleaned the kitcken. Next I did all my sewing, sewing on buttons and mending all my cotton work gloves because I cant get them at the moment. When H finished his ride we had a coffee and for lunch we had a cheese roll with radishes and tomatoes. We watched the olympics all afternoon, had our baths and dinner, steak pies wirh cabbage, carrots, broard beans potatoes and gravy. Tomorrow I am working and it seem a very short weekend.

Saturday

We got up at5.50, I put on a load of washing and we had our breakfast. When we had done we got ready to go shopping. When we got home I put everything away while H got our bikes out of the garage. We had a coffee and I read my magazine. I hung the washing out and then changed ready to go out on our bikes. We had a nice ride to Reepham station and a nice scone with jam and clotted cream. We cycled back via the loop, so 23 and a bit miles. When we got home we had a strawberry milkshake and I read some of my book. We had a shower and for dinner we had a burger with a side salad. We would like to go out on our bikes again tomorrow but the forecast is for rain.

Friday (work)

I got up at 5.45, put on a load of washing and had my usual eggs and tea for breakfast. I packed my cheese and tomato plus a bottle of water.I hung out the washing and got ready to go to work. First the boss said I was picking the tomatoes.He said he didnt want me to pick them too close (only thr really ripe ones) and he wanted 3 trays full. I walked to the glasshouse and looked for a crate to stand my tray onand the boss came in, asked what I was looking for and went to get me one. When he came back I said I thought there was no way I would get 3 traysI could hardly see any ripe ones. He looked and agreed with me, so he said pick them as close as I could, which I did and I still only got one box. Next I had to pick 3 and a half boxes of broard beans. When they were done I went to the celeriac bed to hand weed it. I finished it just before 12.30 and there was no sign of any of the others so as there was nothing else to do I went home. H was suprised to see me. He made me a coffee and I hsd a banana. I got the washing in, it was dry but all nice and warm like it has been lately. I watered my runner beans and the tomatoes I have growing in the garden and we watched tipping point. We had our baths and then dinner. Chicken and chips cooked in the acti fry and it was delish.

Thursday.( seaside)

I got up at 6.30! I put on a load of washing and had eggs for breakfast. H was watching tv when I came down, he had been up since 5 oclock so had eaten his breakfast. We had a coffee and I hung out the washing and watered the tomatoes. I varnished my nails and did my hair etc and got ready to go to the beach. Our youngest daughter picked me up and we went to Cromer. As we parked our daughter, son in law and great granddaughter arrived. We all walked to the beach and it was perfect, the tide was out and so we had rock pools investigate. Daughter found a crab straight away and we found some winkles too, then she found the smallest crab I have ever seen, it was about the size of my little fingernail. Nova loved the sea and was straight in! we all got soaked! She is a child with no fear and just kept walking forward into the waves. Granddaughter and I went in for a swim which I loved, it wasnt even cold. We were just going to have a gentle swim but the tide was on the turn and some waves were huge so we were knocked about and came out with hair dripping.When we were dressed We all went for sausage and chips. after that the other 4 went for a walk but as my back is still playing up I went and sat in the gardens in the sun. Nova came back covered in icecream! On the way home we visited son in laws aunt and after a chat and a drink we drove home all glowing a bit from our time in the sun. H was home and had enjoyed his spanish lesson, he made a pot of tea and I poured while he looked at the seaside photos, we watched tipping point had a shower and then dinner, spag. boll. I have had a really nice day doing all my favourite things. H was home and had enjoyed his spanish lesson he made a pot of tea annd I poured us a cup while he was looking

Wednesday work.

I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing and had my eggs for breakfastI packed my coffee break cheese and tomato. I hung out the washing out when it was done and watered the tomatoes. My tomatoes in the hanging basket are ripening fast and I picked 31 this morning. At 8.30 I drove to work and we were planting straight away, leeks. It was very hot and dusty on the back of the planter and it took us till 11.30 to get it done. When we had finished Andrew, Andy and I hed to pick 35 bunches of radishes, 54 bunches of carrots, ( the ground was like concrete and they all had to be dug up)! Then we were supposed to pick 44 bunches of beetroot but we only had 31 when it was my home time. There just arent any beetroot in the bed but its so weedy you cant tell whats there! We were all stung and pricked because most of the weeds are thistles and nettles.I was really glad when it was time for me to go home. Tomorrow I am not working I am off to the beach instead, I cant wait! When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a banana. I went outside with my shorts on because I am loosing the tan on my legs, but it was just too hot. We watched tipping point, I had a bath and washed my hair then we had dinner. We had salmon with jacket potatoes and grilled tomatoes.

Tuesday (hot)

I got up at 5.15 after a better sleep than the night before but still not good.I put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had eggs for breakfast. I packed cheese and a tomato for my break, hung out the washing and after I was dressed I sat and read till it was time to go to work. First we had to load the trailer up with the plants we were going to plant, 40 trays of greens. It took us till 11.30. We had our break at 10 and I shared my cheese with the bosses dog. When we had finished planting Andrew, Andy and I drove to the leek bed and pulled up leeks ready to plant tomorrow. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a banana. We sat and watched a James Bond film, I got the washing in and watered the pots and my tomatoes. We watched tipping point,had our baths and then dinner, chicken curry. I have to work again tomorrow!

Monday

I got up at 4.40(because it was too hot to sleep) I put on a load of washing and had eggs and tea for breakfast. I packed a snack for lunch, hung out my washing and dressed ready for work, then I sat and read my book til it was time to leve. Andrew was sent gardening and Andy and I were given a list of things needed for the first delivery round. Cabbages, kale, 4 types of lettuce, radishes, beetroot, carrots, broard beans. When it was all harvested, washed and packed we had our break. After that we went back and and did it all again plus spring onions and fennel. When that was done I had to go weeding while Andy washed and packed our second load. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a banana, he had put my chair in the garden but I found it hot to sit out there. I got my washing in and made a pot of tea. We watched tipping point, had a cool shower and then dinner. We had bacon, eggs, chips and peas. I have to work again tomorrow.

A hot Sunday.

I got up at 6 oclock and H had made the tea and poured me a cup. I had eggs for breakfast and we had a coffee. I just sat and read till our son came down.He got yos own breakfast so I carried on reading. After a while we got ready to go out on our bikes. It was lovely along the track because it was cooler in the shade of the trees. We went to Reepham station where we had a drink and cake. We then cycled home via the loop and our ride was 23 and a half miles.It got hotter and hotter as the day went on and I feel quite burnt. we had bacon butties for lunch and son had a shower and H and I had a bath. I made a pot of tea and H lit the bbq. He had chicken and som and I had steak, we all had ribs, sausages and corn on the cob.we had ice cream for pudding. son got ready to go home and left just before 8pm because he has work in the morning.We have had a nice weekend and tomorrow i have to work.

Saturday ( a bit of a catch up.)

I keep forgetting to write. Thursday I worked so nothing much happened. Yesterday was a different matter. I got up just after 5 oclock, had 2 eggs for breakfast and did a load of washing. I dusted and did a bit of clearing up, swept the kitchen floor etc. I hung out the washing and we had a small coffee. I got the bikes out of the garage and we got ready to go out on our bikes. We met our daughter and son in law and rode 50 miles off road. We went to Wroxham which was a nice ride, 18 miles of it beside a small steam lokomotive railway and we were lucky to see 2 trains. We had chips and sausages by the river in the sun before returning home. When we got back no 2 son had arrived for the weekend. H and I had a bath and then lit the bbq. for dinner we had ribs, lamb cutlets, sausages and corn on the cob, we washed it down with a beer. Today has been a lazy day. I did a load of washing and watered the tomatoes. Next I pulled a lot of things out of the garden either side of the garden path so we can actually walk up it. We had bacon butties for lunch and roast lamb for dinner with broard beans, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes and gravy. Son is replacing some panels in his van with windows. Its a long job.

Wednesday (work)

I got up at 5.20, made a pot of tea and had 2 eggs for breakfast. I packed my cheese and tomato for coffee break with a litre of water and then cleaned my teeth etc and got ready to go to work. We planted right away (leeks). We planted till 11am and the boss says we have now planted half the leeks and we have loads of greens left to fo as well. When we had finished Andrew had to go and trim a small hedge and Andy had I had to pick 30 bunches of beetroot, 12 bunches of carrots and 25 bunches of radishes. When they were done Andy had to take it all down and wash it and I had to weed beetroot. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a banana. At 3 I made a pot of tea and we had a cup with 2 biscuits. After the Tour de France was over we watched the end of tipping point, had a bath and then dinner. It was quiche with mushrooms and potato wedges. Today at work it was dull and windy and we all had all our plastic gear on and werent too hot. Tomorrow its supposed to be warm and sunny and I am working again but on Friday we are cycling to Wroxham with our daughter and son in law, where we are having fish and chips. Its about 50 miles so the fish and chips will be burnt off! (I hope)

Tuesday

I got up at 6.20 and put on a load of washing. H was up and had made a pot of tea so he poured me a cup. As I wasnt working I only had 1 egg for breakfast and then we had a coffee. I told H I wouldnt go out on my bike today because I thought it was time I did some housework. I started upstairs then did the stairs on the way down and then all downstairs. I hung out my washing and dusted. We had another coffee and H went to the chemist to collect his prescription. We had cheese and biscuits for lunch and our first tomatoes out of the garden. They were ftom my hanging basket (tumbling toms). At 12.30 H changet and went to the hospital for a chest xray. He left home at 1.05 and was home again at 2.20. We watched the tour, the end of tipping point and had a shower. For dinner we had breadded haddock with potato wedges, couliflower, mushrooms, and peas. Tomorrow i have to go to work.

Monday (work)

I got up at 5 oclock and made a pot of tea. I had 2 eggs for breakfast and packed my snack for break, a lump of cheese and a tomato with my bottle of water.I watched a bit of tele and also read a bit of my book till it was time to dress and get ready to go to work. I had to walk to the beetroot and picked 10 bunches and then 48 bunches of carrots. Andy joined me towards the end and we also had to have a box of broard beans.We took everything to the yard and washed and packed it all. We had our breakand then went back for the next orders. 33 bunches of beetroot, 48 bunches of carrots, 6 bunches of radishes, 24 bunches of spring onions a box of rhubarb and 12 boxes of beans. It all took till one oclock and then I went home. I had a coffee and a banana. We watched a film and i struggled to keep awake. We had a cup of tea, watched tipping point, had a bath and dinner which was salmon, baked potatoes ans baked beans. The boss said that on Friday he had a flash flood, two inches of rain in a very few minuits. Its washed plants out of the ground and leeched the soil of fertilizer. Also we were supposed to pull up another bed of leeks to pland tomorrow but the land is too wet to to drive a tractor on so now tomorrow I dont have to go to work.

Sunday.

I got up at 5.40 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and had a cup with 2 eggs for my breakfast. I sat and read my book till H came down and then i hung out the washing. (It was a bit misty when I got up but it soon cleared). We had a coffee and H said we should get ready to go out on our bikes. He got the bikes out of the garage and cleaned the chains. when we were ready we went for a ride, it was really nice. We rode to Whitwell along the track and then on the road, doing a round trip back to Attlebridge where we got back onto the track and back home. One of my favourite rides. When we got home I put the bikes away and H made us a coffee. We had cheeese and biscuits for lunch and, later a glass of wine while we watched the tour de france. I got the washing in, dry and pulled a bucket full of weeds out of mu border at the front of the house.I sat outside in the sun and podded my broard beans ready for dinner. when I went in I made a pot of tea and had a bath. For dinner we had a chicken and leek pie with beans, carrots, cauliflower and potatoes. Tomorrow i am at work.

Saturday

I got up at 5.50 and made a pot of tea. I waited for H to get up to cut me off a slice of bread because i can never cut it straight. I had buttered toast with marmite, it was yummy. We had a coffee and then we got ready and went shopping. When we got home I unpacked and put everything away and we had a merangue. I emptied the dish washer and started on the house work. Then H said we shouldgo out on out bikes right away so we can get back before the rain starts. So we put our cycle gear on and and went for a ride. It was lovely, we saw buzzards, a kestrel, a sparrow hawk, 2 green woodpeckers etc etc. At Reepham station we had a coffee and fruit scones with jam and clotted cream and then biked home again. When we got home we had a cup of soup and watched the tour. I did a bit of housework and after our baths I made a pot of tea and got dinner, pizza with salad and a bowl of cherries for desert.

Thursday (work)

I got up at 5.20 and had 2 eggs and a cup of tea for my breakfast. I packed some cheesa and a tomato with my bottle of water fot my break at work and after I was dressed etc. I sat and read my book till it was time for work. We went planting straight away.We planted the leeks that Andy and I pulled up on Tuesday. We did 24 rows with roughly 400 plants in eac row and it took about one and a nalf hours. We all went back to the yard and had an early break.Next I had to walk back up the field and pick 58 bunches of beetroot. After that I had to pick carrots. Andy joined me and we did 60 bunches. It seems that every one wants beetroot so we are running out! Its a real hunt for any that are big enough. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a date scone and a banana. We watched the tour, the end of tipping point and had our baths. Dinner was haddock morney with cauliflower and broccoli.I have to work again tomorrow.

Wednesday

I I got up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing. I had 2 fried eggs for breakfast with a cup of tea and took some chinese style chicken breasts out of the freezer for dinner tonight. I hung the washing out when it was done. We had a coffee and I went up to dress. H went up for a ride and I worked in the garden. I pruned some bushes in the shrubery and pulled loads of things out of the garden that were going to seed. For lunch I had a cuppa soup, a banana and a toasted hot cross bun. I made some date scones which turned out out well. We watched the tour de france and they went up mont ventoux twice! H has ridden up there when he was younger and we also took our son there and he rode up some of it with H while I sat in the car with a book. We had our baths and I cooked dinner, chicken and chips. Tomorrow I have to work.

Tuesday (work)

I got up just after 5 and had eggs and tea for breakfast. I packed a tomato and a slice of cheese plus a bottle of water for work and sat and read till 7 when I cleaned my teeth, dressed and hung out yesterdays washing before going to work. I had to go with Andy and we pulled up leek plants ready to plant on Thursday. We finished them around 11.40 so I had to weed till I left off at 1. When I got home H made me a cup of coffee and I had a hot cross bun. We sat and watched The tour de France, hadd our baths and then dinner. Fish pie with grilled tomatoes. I have tomorrow off but I have to work Thursday and Friday.

Monday

I got up at 5 oclock and had 2 eggs for breakfast with a cup of tea. I did a load of washing and read my book till H came down at 6.15. Today was my hospital visit so I didnt do anything till it was time to get ready to go. H drove me there and left, went home and sorted out our new internet server. My letter told me to be prepared to be there for 2 hours but I was there for less than 10 minutes! I thought they were going to give me the results of my C T scan but they hadnt got them yet! First I was asked loads of questions and then someone else came in and introduced himself as one of the surgeons! This made my heart beat! He examined me and used a telescope!!!! I was told I could get dressed and go home and he said he thinks I am ok! I caught the bus to the City and did a bit of shopping and bought us crabs for lunch. I got another bus home and H made me a coffee. We had our crabs and they were yummy. I watered my habging baskets and dead headed the roses again but apart from that, bething and cooking dinner I havent done anything much. Dinner was nice, liver and onions with new ootatoes and broccoli. My back is improving but still there a bit. I hope its even better tomorrow because I have to work.

Sunday 4th July.

I got up at 5 oclock and had 2 eggs for bteakfast and a mug of tea because we are going out on our bikes if the rain holds off.( yesterday I only had one because we werent doing anything) We had a nice ride, almost 25 miles. We were going out at 10 but went an hour early because rain was promised later. We did it in under 2 hours and were happy with that. When we got home we had a coffee, a toasted hot cross bun and a banana. H has just poured our wine ( 2.50).We had some rain after we had been home around 5 minuites so we did righr going early. For dinner tonight we are having pork with potatoes,cauliflower, carrots and gravy. Tomorrow i have another hospital appointment, I thought it was to get the results of my scan but it says I must be there 15 minuites before my appointment time and it could take 2 hours so goodness knows what I am having done! Watch this space, more details tomorrow.

Thursday

I got up at 6 oclock and put on a load of washing. I had 2 eggs and a mug of tea. I hung the washing out when it was done and watered the hanging baskets. Next I pulled a few things out of the gardenthat had fallen across the path. I read a bit of my book and we had a coffee. At 9 I dressed and got ready to go to the beach with my daughter, grand son and great granddaughter. So there was 4 generations all together on the beach. H was unable to join us as he had booked a Spanish lesson. We had a lovely time with chips and do nuts for lunch and a paddle in the sea.When you are 82 its suprising how much an enegy a 2 year old has I had forgotten how they never stop, she is such a happy little girl and I will sleep well tonight. When we got back she was happy to sit with great grandad and watch the television. We watched the tour again and it was so good. we had our baths and then dinner, spaghetti bolognase. Its work again for me tomorrow.
