Yesterday was my dear husbands eightieth birthday and our 3 children arranged a surprise birthday party π for him. In the morning the 2 eldest came round with their spouses, all bearing gifts π, our youngest was already here, staying for the weekend. H was pleased to see them all and happy with all his presents. The grand children either sent theirs or made excuses for not coming and said they would bring them tomorrow. Later in the day we told H that we ( no 2 son and I ) were taking him out to dinner as it was his birthday. We all got ready to go and H came out with his car keys but son said he was driving so H could have a birthday drink. We piled into the camper van and off we went. I was a bit worried he would notice the others cars on the car park but no. We went into the pub/ restaurant and son said our name and that we had a table booked. We each ordered a drink π₯ and they said our table was upstairs,at the bottom of the stairs I told H to go first and up we went. H says the first 2 people he saw were our eldest granddaughter and her fiancΓ©e his first thought was, well fancy that, Christie being here too!! Then he saw the 2 giant balloons, an 8 and a zero and another with 80 on and the penny dropped. There was 12 of us altogether and it was a truly wonderful evening, the food was delicious (The Fox Hevingham) the company delightful and we all had a truly amazing evening. Our daughter organised the cake which was enormous and the best cake I have ever tasted. Chocolate with chocolate dipped strawberries on top, soooooo yummy π . I wish I knew how to add photographs to my blog because I have some really nice ones of last evening and our lovely family and some great ones of H with his balloons. My husband is not one for being in the limelight so I was very impressed by how well he reacted to it all, specially when all the restaurants lights dimmed and the waitresses walked in singing ‘happy birthday ‘ with the cake, candles π blazing.
It was a joint effort by all 3 children, our daughter in law sorting the venue, no1 son sorting menus, son in law struggling through the City with the cake, with Daugter walking behind with giant balloons π and no 2 son getting us there, plus all 3 and grandchildren paying for it. We are both so lucky and and so proud to be blessed with such a wonderful children
