Saturday

We both got up at 6.20 and both had toast and tea for breakfast. As soon as we had finished we went shopping for our weekly groceries. When we came back we unpacked, put everything away and had a coffee. Then we both changed into our cycle gear and went out on our mountain bikes. We had a lovely ride, it was a bit dull but nice and warm and along the track we were quite sheltered. We had a hare run across the road in front of us, saw a huge dead deer with antlers, our first swifts of the season  swallows, house martins, and loads of squirrels. We rode 33 miles, going to a small village called Heydon. It's beautiful and has a huge church that I would like a closer look at. I have been within a quarter of a mile of the village hundreds of times but never seen it before because the road to the village doesn't go anywhere, just into the halls grounds. We went to the cafe and as the weather was ok we sat at a table outside which was actually on the roadside. The cafe was full and very busy. We had a nice cup of coffee and a slice of cake. The swallows were busy building nests under the eves of the houses and there is a nice village green. When we got home we just had soup for lunch and later a glass of wine. H watched the tour of Italy while I spent 2 hours gardening. He called me in at 4.30 because he had run me a bath. I then cooked dinner, steak pie, potatoes and peas. We had chocolate sponge pudding for afters. Tomorrow I will have to do a bit of housework.
