I managed to stay in bed till 5.40 but it was so warm I just had to get up. I sat and read till I heard H moving around then I made a pot of tea. He sliced my bread off for toast and we had our breakfast. H then made us a coffee and I wrote my diary for yesterday, made the bed, and plucked my eyebrows. I sat and read a couple of chapters of my book and H said he was ready to go out on his bike so I changed and off we went. I decided to record my ride on my watch which worked perfectly well last time. Well we went to Reepham station which is about 9.5 miles, I checked my watch and it said I had ridden 3.2 miles!! I don't have a clue what went wrong but it's annoying. I recorded the rest of my ride on my phone which said I rode 26 and a bit miles but my bike computer says I rode 36 and a quarter miles. We had a cheese and lettuce sandwich for lunch and I went outside to work in the garden. I turned the oven on before I went outside and when it was heated I made some chocolate chip buns. As soon as they were done I went back outside and did my first snail collection of the year, I collected 92. I carried on weeding till H called me in and said he had run me a bath. When I had done I made a pot of tea and put a fish pie in the oven for dinner tonight.
Getting back to my ride, H was with me so we both did the same. I thought I would be able to copy his numbers down, he was using his ' garmin' but, would you believe it? , ! That didn't load either!! This month I have ridden 308.5 miles.

Tuesday
I got up at 5 and put on a load of washing,I had a bowl of ' grape nuts ' for my breakfast and packed 2 sandwiches for my lunch, one corned beef and brown sauce and hhe other lettuce with mayonnaise. I hung the washing out , made the bed and got ready to go to work. When I arrived the boss said nobody wanted anything so we ( Andy and I ) spent all day in the greenhouse. Luckily the sun didn't come out very often but when it did it was boiling. We filled 105 trays with peat, watered them and then seeded each tray with 308 seeds. They were all greens, cauliflowers, cabbages, kale etc etc. It took all day. I feel as if I walked miles, laying them all out on pallet boards. Andy has a very swollen knee and struggles to walk. He went to hospital last week for a scan on it and should get the results this week so because of this I had to do all the walking and carrying. When I got home I had a nice mug of tea and a long soak in the bath before I cooked dinner. We had sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, new potatoes, broccoli and green beans. H had yogurt and I had an orange as usual. I have to work again on Thursday.

Bank holiday Monday.
I got up at 7 and put on a load of washing. H had made the tea and when he heard me moving about he toasted my bread, he had also emptied the dishwasher. We had some rain overnight but I don't think it was much. I did the ironing and vacuumed downstairs then we got ready to go out on our bikes. We just rode 19.5miles stopping for coffee and cake half way round. It was a lovely ride. We had cheese sandwiches for lunch with a coffee and then we went to the local garden centre for some bedding plants and lawn food. When we came back we had a g& t and had a look on line at a few holidays. We had a shower and for dinner I cooked a steak and onion pie with new potatoes, green beans, sweet corn, broccoli and asparagus. H had yogurt for pud and I had an orange. It's been a very warm day but so dull and overcast, we have seen very little sun and haven't sat in the garden at all. Tomorrow I have to go to Work.

Sunday.
Another lovely day. We got up together and had our breakfast. We had a nice coffee next and I finished my book so I could take it with me when I bike to the crab house. The lady in there collects books and has a charity box so you can pick one up if you wish to read it. When I take one I read it and then I take it back again so she can use it again. One charity is the lifeboats and the other is meningitis. Anyway after I had finished my book I dusted downstairs, swept the kitchen and downstairs cloakroom floors and then washed them, scrubbed the basins etc. I watered my outdoor pots and at 10am I sat in the garden in the sun and listened to the Archers omnibus. When it finished I got on my bike and went for some crabs for our lunch. I went the long way round so I could get a bit of exercise and ended up riding 16.6 miles. When I got back H had finished his turbo ride so I dressed the crabs and we had lunch. H put the last day of the bike race in Italy on but the sun came out again ( it was a bit cloudy earlier) so we both sat in the garden for a while. We had a nice glass of wine and all we had for dinner was pizza and chips it's too hot for big meals! I broke my pizza cutter!! It's the third one I have snapped recently, they don't make them strong enough. We had fruit for pudding and now I am going upstairs to watch The Durrells. I have had a nice day.

Saturday
I got up at 5.30 because it was too hot to sleep. I put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea then i sat down to read till H got up. I picked up my book and he opened the door so i put my book back and we had our breakfast. I hung the washing out when it was done and at 7.10 we went to Asda for our weekly shop. We went from there to M&S because it was a ' meal deal ' week. After that we drove to B&Q for some things that H wanted and finally to Tescos for some coffee pods. It all took us over 2 hours. H made us a coffee while I unpacked and put everything away. By the time we had done all this it was past 10 o'clock so I said I didn't want to go out on my bike because by the time we had got ready it would be 11 and we wouldn't be back till quite late. I am glad we didn't go because it suddenly turned black and we had a thunder storm, so when it was over I changed into my shorts and sat in the garden. H did an hour on his turbo and when he was done we had a corned beef and brown sauce sandwich with some radishes. We also had our first strawberries of the year I only buy English ones and they are the first I have seen, they were delicious. We watched the tour of Italy, it was too hot to sit outside!! We had a shower and I cooked dinner, it was nice Mediterranean chicken and rosemary potatoes, strawberry trifle for pud. I didn't bother to go up because there was nothing I wanted to see on tv so I stayed down with H and read my book while he watched rubbish

We had a coffee and H went up to turbo. He rode a 25 mile race plus a 10 mile warm up. It's been a lovely day with wall to wall sunshine. My knee that was very painful yesterday is fine today but my backache hasn't gone yet, I don't think it's quite as bad as it was yesterday though. When H had finished his ride he cut me 2 slices of bread off and I got bacon butties for lunch with a cup of instant coffee. We both sat in the garden as long as we could bare it, I began to pull up my forget me nots tillH called me in for the tour of Italy cycle race. I got my washing in all dry and aired. I had a shower and sorted dinner. We had breadded cod, a giant jacket potato and baked beans. Tomorrow we plan to go for a bike ride so I hope the weather stays good.

Thursday
It was work again so I was up at 5.40 and had my breakfast, packed my lunch, cream crackers with marmite and some cherry tomatoes. When I got there the first thing I had to do was 105 bunches of radishes. I hadn't quite finished them when Andy came to collect them so he had to help me. I then had to weed the second early leeks, there is only 8 rows of them but they are really long rows. When I had finished I walked down to the greenhouse and snapped all the side shoots out of the tomatoes and twisted them up their strings. Next I had to plant lettuces, I planted well over a thousand. There were flat lettuce, cos, oak leaf and lollo Rossa. I also had about 150 fennel to plant. After that I had to join Andy who was planting squashes. We planted onion squash (208) harlequin (208) spaghetti squash and 2 other varieties that I can't remember the name of. When I left off I was really worn out with the work and the heat. I don't have to go again till Tuesday. When I got home I had my cup of tea and a soak in the bath. My daughter rang for a chat, she has all next week off so that will be nice. For dinner we had quiche, mushrooms, tomatoes and potato wedges. No2 son rang after dinner, he is off to Wales for the weekend to do some climbing. The forecast is good for tomorrow so I plan to do a bit of sun bathing to top up my vitamin D.

I then had to join Andy and Andrew on the back of the planter, also the bosses wife and we planted all afternoon. We put in red cabbage, sprouts, broccoli, kale, cabbages and cauliflowers. I was glad to get home. I had a bath and washed my hair, had a cup of tea and then got dinner. Bacon, eggs and chips. We had stewed apple for pudding. I have to go to work again tomorrow!!!

Tuesday
I got up at 6.30 after a poor sleep, it was too hot in the bedroom. We had our breakfast and a coffee. H went upstairs to study his Spanish and I dusted the hall and dining room before going outside to prune some of my shrubs. I made the bed and read a bit of my book till H shouted down to say he was getting ready to go out on his mountain bike so I then put my cycle gear on too. We had a lovely ride, my longest so far. 50.6 miles all off road. The weather was perfect. We rode to wroxham railway station and back.we stopped at Aylsham station for tcoffee. The trains were running and one passed us on our way there and another on the way back. They were both pretty full and each had several carriages. When we got back we had a bath and a cup of tea then I cooked dinner, Cornish pasties, new potatoes broccoli and asparagus, very nice. H had yogurt for pudding and I am about to eat an orange. Tomorrow I have to go to work.

Monday
I got up at 7 and H had been up for half an hour. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. We had a nice cup of coffee and H cycled to the City for some coffee pods and a litre of peanut butter. Meanwhile I hung out the washing, planted up my hanging basket and then changed into my shorts and sat in the garden. When H came back he mowed the front and back lawns and they look nice. We had cheese and onion sandwiches for lunch and then both sat in the garden for a while and then we went to our daughters to pick up our frozen stuff that she kept for me when my freezer went wrong. When we got back it was wine o'clock, then I cooked dinner. We had a pasta bake, it was nice, fried onions, sausage, peas. Mushrooms, broccoli, sweet corn and a white sauce. It didn't take long to cook and I added shell pasta it was very tasty. H had yogurt for pudding and I had an orange. It's been a lovely sunny day and I have a very white watch mark.

Sunda
I got up just before 7 and put on a load of washing. H was already up and had made a pot of tea so I had a cupand a little later a coffee. I had 2 cream crackers for breakfast and when the washing was done I hung it out. I made the bed, tidied up the bed room and sat in the garden and listened to the Archers omnibus. As soon as it was over I went on a roundabout trip to the wet fish shop in Felthorpe to buy 2 crabs for our lunch. They were delicious. The shop is actually 3and a bit miles away from us but I ended up riding 17.3 miles so I had my exercise. Mind you I can't compete with H who rode over 62 miles. However he did his indoors where as I was out enjoying the fresh air. This afternoon I cleared more rubbish out of the garden, brought my nice dry washing in and had a bath. We had pork for dinner, with roast potatoes, broccoli and peas. For pud we had lemon mousse, nice and refreshing. This evening I am going to watch ' The Durells '. There is not much on tv. No work tomorrow 😊

Saturday
I got up at 6 and H was already up and had made the tea. I had a slice of toast and marmalade, then I dressed and we went to Asda to do our weekly shop. As soon as we had unpacked and put everything away,we had a coffee and changed into our cycle gear to go for a bike ride. We thought that after all the rain the track would be too wet but in wasn't too bad at all so we rode on it all the way to Reepham. We then went along the road as far as Whitwell and back on the track and home. 23 miles. We had a corned beef sandwich with salad for lunch plus a coffee and watched the tour of Italy. As soon as it was over we got ready to go to my middle brother and sister in laws for dinner. We had a lovely evening and a really nice meal. It was nibbles and drinks as soon as we arrived, a nice chat then dinner. It was prawn cocktail for starters then roast chicken, sausages, stuffing, potatoes, roast parsnips, green beans, carrots, gravy cabbage and cranberry sauce. For dessert we had merangue nests with raspberries and raspberry sauce, made by my brother (very nice ) and then fresh fruit salad and cream that my sister in law had made had that was delicious too. We had more drinks and later coffee with after dinner mints. We left around 10.30 and really enjoyed our evening, the time flew by. As soon as we got home H went straight up to bed but I am watching television for a while.

Friday
We both got up at 6.30 and had toast and tea for breakfast. I put on a load of washing but it was pouring with rain so I didn't hang it out. We had a coffee and as it was so wet H rode a 25 mile race on his turbo trainer, he also rode 10 miles as a warm up! When he had finished and showered we went to our butchers so I could restock our freezer. I bought pies, pasties, lasagna, chops, burgers, sausages, mince, bacon, a joint of beef, chicken breasts, gammon steaks and sirloin steaks. For our lunch I bought a little pork and Stilton pie each and a cheese straw. I got a few pennies change out of £90!! At least my freezer is nice and full. We had a pork chop for dinner tonight with potatoes, green beans, brócoli and asparagus, it was nice.
When I was a little girl I used to stay with my nanny a lot in each school holiday and she lived next door to the village post office and general store. ( I think my mum was glad to get rid of me so my brothers had some peace). The post mistress was a lovely lady called mrs Elsey. ( Betty) she would let me help her in the shop and I loved it. There were huge cheese's,red and white which were on a marble slab with a wire fixed to the wall that had a wooden toggle type handle and I was allowed to slice off cheese, I loved the feel of that wire slicing through the cheese and the smell. Also, their sugar came in half hundredweight sacks and I used to weigh it up into blue paper bags in pounds and half pounds. You didn't get much sugar in a half pound bag but the war was on and it was rationed. This morning my boss rang to say he has had so much rain that he won't want me on Monday so could I go Wednesday instead!!

Thursday
I didn't sleep at all well last night and when I got up I had a horrible sickey feeling in my stomach. It was that feeling you get when you are really hungry but I don't think I was. I had a slice of toast but it didn't help. I did a load of washing, doing all the towels, bathmat etc. They were dry within an hour.
H and I moved our old fridge freezer out of the kitchen and into the hall ready for our new one to arrive. As I had cleaned the kitchen well yesterday I only had to sweep the patch that was under the old one. I then went outside and sat in the sun. It was nice. We had a can of soup for lunch and the fridge arrived at 2.20. It looks nice, we had to leave it to just stand and settle for 2 hours and then we turned it on. It's nice and quiet. I will put the things back into the fridge tomorrow and I will start to restock the freezer when we shop on Saturday. I am looking forward to it. For tea this evening we had a jacket potato with a cheese and mushroom omelette. H had yogurt for pudding and i had 2 kiwi fruit. I didn't want to go out on my bike because I didn't feel right but now I feel ok I wish that I had gone out. H says if it's not too wet tomorrow we will go for a ride then, he rode over 20 miles on his turbo this morning so he had his exercise. I have a very pink nose!!

Wednesday
It's been a disappointing day, we were promised lots of rain but had hardly any. H and I both got up together this morning and both had toast and marmalade. I put on a load of washing while H made a pot of tea. He then did some Spanish homework while I did all the ironing. We had a coffee and a date scone before he left for his lesson. It had brightened up a bit so I hung the washing out and got on with a bit of housework, dusting etc. H got back quite early because he went in the car and on the way home he bought my tv magazine so after a lunch of bacon butties, coffee and another scone I sat and read it while he watched the ' tour of Italy'. He slept through the whole race and I woke him for the last 3 kilometres. When he came home he told me it was raining a bit so I got my washing in and , much ti my surprise, it was dry, it had only been out for about 2 and a half hours. For dinner tonight we had mushrooms, fried tomatoes, potato wedges, bacon and eggs. Tomorrow our new fridge freezer should arrive and we will be able to stock it up and eat properly again. I am hoping for more rain overnight.

Tuesday
Well last evening I missed all my soaps, I was so tired I was asleep by 6.45pm!!! Our youngest son rang up around 9 pm and woke me up but I went straight back to sleep again and didn't get up till 6.30 this morning. I had toast and tea for breakfast and then filled my slow cooker with meat and vegetables and left it to cook all day. We had a coffee and I read a chapter of my book before getting ready to go out on my mountain bike with H. We left home at 10 am and as it was so windy we rode along the track again where we were nice and sheltered from most of the wind. When we came to the bit where the new N D R is crossing the track a workman was standing there. He stopped us and asked how long we were going to be. H said around 2 hours. He said that's ok then but they were going to practice an accident, there was a huge crane there and a drone hovering in the sky. The man said a helicopter would be landing there shortly. We carried on with our ride and it was reall warm. It was 22 degrees when we left and 24 degrees when we arrived home. We did 22 and a bit miles and I loved every git of it. As soon as we got back H put our sun chairs out and I made bacon sandwiches for lunch. We sat out there for 2 hours and then came in to watch the tour of Italy bike race. When it was over I dished up our dinner and it was very tasty.

Monday
Work today so I was up early. Had porridge and a cup of tea for breakfast and packed a salad for my lunch. I did a load of washing and hung it out. I made the bed, dressed and went to work I only had to pick 25 bunches of radishes, then go with Andrew to pick 11 boxes of rhubarb. I then spent all the rest of the day weeding a bed of beetroot. It's backbreaking work and I have come home with a thumping headache. We had spaghetti bolognese for dinner tonight I made it last night in my slow cooker with some mince I rescued from my poor dead freezer. The boss said he can manage without me for the rest of the week so I don't have to work till Monday.

Sunday
I have not had a very good day! I got up at 7 and had my breakfast. Then I looked into the freezer to get some meat for dinner only to find that everything was beginning to thaw out. My fridge freezer has died!!! I managed to pack all the things from the fridge into my other small fridge but I had no idea what to do with my frozen stuff. I had a huge joint of beef ( topside) that I was going to cook when no 2 son comes home next but we had to eat it today. I also cooked a pound of mince which I will make bolognese with tomorrow. I rang my daughter and she said she could take my things that were still frozen and store them in her freezer for me till I get a new one. I have had to throw loads of food away, chips, peas, sweet corn, pastry, ice cream etc. I had intended to go out on my bike this morning but all the upset put me off. We had a pizza for lunch which had defrosted and we will be eating roast beef sandwiches for days. Our new fridge freezer is coming on Thursday. H rode 62 miles on his turbo trainer and when I came back from our daughters I sat in the garden in the sun, my nose is pink!!

Saturday
We both got up at 6.20 and both had toast and tea for breakfast. As soon as we had finished we went shopping for our weekly groceries. When we came back we unpacked, put everything away and had a coffee. Then we both changed into our cycle gear and went out on our mountain bikes. We had a lovely ride, it was a bit dull but nice and warm and along the track we were quite sheltered. We had a hare run across the road in front of us, saw a huge dead deer with antlers, our first swifts of the season swallows, house martins, and loads of squirrels. We rode 33 miles, going to a small village called Heydon. It's beautiful and has a huge church that I would like a closer look at. I have been within a quarter of a mile of the village hundreds of times but never seen it before because the road to the village doesn't go anywhere, just into the halls grounds. We went to the cafe and as the weather was ok we sat at a table outside which was actually on the roadside. The cafe was full and very busy. We had a nice cup of coffee and a slice of cake. The swallows were busy building nests under the eves of the houses and there is a nice village green. When we got home we just had soup for lunch and later a glass of wine. H watched the tour of Italy while I spent 2 hours gardening. He called me in at 4.30 because he had run me a bath. I then cooked dinner, steak pie, potatoes and peas. We had chocolate sponge pudding for afters. Tomorrow I will have to do a bit of housework.

Friday
I have had quite a lazy day. I put on a load of washing as usual and had toast for breakfast. We had a coffee and. When the washing was done I hung it out and then we went to visit a new ' Next ' store that has opened a few miles from ours. It opened before Christmas but it's the first time we have been. H bought 2 pairs of skinny jeans that he can ride his bike in without cycle clips. When we got back we had cheese, biscuits and pickle for lunch and then a date scone and a glass of wine. This afternoon I wanted to do some gardening but I have, somehow, pulled a muscle in my back. I often get backache but it's always on the right, this one is on the left and at the moment agony!! H had to come and help me cook dinner! We had potato wedges, sausages, pork and apple burgers, baked beans and a fried egg. As soon as I had eaten mine I came upstairs to lay flat but so far it has made no difference.

Thursday.
Work today so I was up at 5.35 and put on a load of washing. I made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge for my breakfast. I packed 2 corned beef sandwiches with brown sauce,a banana and a bottle of water for my lunch. I dressed and made the bed, then I went to work. First I had to pick 75 bunches of radishes and then walked down to the rhubarb bed and picked 11 boxes of it. Next I walked to the spring onions to pick 30 bunches, I really struggled to get the fork into into the ground to dig them up it's so dry. It is the first day of the year I was able to work in a t shirt. I finished all that by 12 noon and spent the rest of the in the greenhouse stringing up the tomatoes. It was very hot work. Andy is on holiday this week and Andrew was on a gardening job so I have worked all day on my own, it was lovely, i listened to my radio all day and the time flew by. When I got home my daughter rang fot a chat and I could hear her dog snoring in the background! For dinner tonight we had a fish pie with peas, it was very nice. H had yogurt for pudding but i have run out of oranges so i had an apple. The boss doesn't want me any more till Monday.
Wednesday, 10 May 2017
Warm Wednesday.
I was busy as soon as I was up, I put on a load of washing and had porridge for breakfast. Then I stripped the bed and did a second load of washing. After that I baked some date scones. There were 18 altogether so I have frozen half. I managed to get both my loads of washing on my lines. At 10 am I got ready to go out on my bike. H had a Spanish lesson so I left at the same time and went part of the way with him. I then carried on and went for a very hilly ride starting by climbing Ringland Hills then several other hills after that. It was a very enjoyable ride and over26 miles long. As I unlocked the door when I got back the phone was ringing, I rushed to pick it up and it was H, he was on his way back and had punched, twice!!! So I had to jump in the car and pick him up. When we got back I made cheese and pickle sandwiches and a cup of coffee for lunch. We both sat in the garden for an hour and a half after lunch and then I brought in my washing, ironed all the bedding and put it back on the bed.( hard work ) I had a shower and cooked dinner, quiche, mushrooms and fried potatoes. I have to go to work tomorrow.
Tuesday, 9 May 2017
Tuesday.
I was up at 5.30 and put on a load of washing and then just sat and read my book till I heard H moving about upstairs. I made a pot of tea and we had toast for breakfast. We also had a coffee and then I dressed and made the bed. I hung the washing out and spent a bit of time pulling out weeds. H decided to have a turbo ride and so I decided to do more work in the garden. When H finished I came in and we had a corned beef sandwich for lunch with a mug of hot chocolate. At 1.30 somebody came round to fit a new doorbell to our front door. When they left we watched the tour of Italy, the race finished at the top of mount Etna!!! For dinner we had a chicken and leek pie with new potatoes, asparagus, cauliflower and corn on the cob, H had yogurt and an orange for me once again.
Monday, 8 May 2017
Monday.
I was up at 5.45 and put on a load of washing. I had porridge and a mug of tea for breakfast, packed a salad for my lunch with a banana, a hot cross bun and a bottle of water. I dressed, hung out the washing and went to work. They have opened one of the roads I use to go to work so it cut 10 minutes off my journey time. Andrew went out on a gardening job at 8 o'clock and was still out when I left off. Andy and I had ot go together to pick 11 boxes of rhubarb and 50 bunches of radishes. After that we both spent all the rest of the day in the greenhouse. We had to fill 91 trays with peat and then seed them all. When I left odd at 4pm there were 7 left to do. The men leave off later than me so they would get them done before home time. Even though we were inside the greenhouse it was freezing cold and at one point my fingers were so cold they really hurt. I meant to get some sausages out of the freezer this morning but I forgot so for dinner tonight we had jacket potatoes, mushrooms, baked beans and 2 fried eggs each. H had a yogurt for his pudding and I had an orange again. I have to go to work again on Thursday. I hope it's warmed up a bit by then.
Sunday, 7 May 2017
Sunday.
I got up at 6 and H got up at 7, I had porridge and he had toast, we both had tea and a little later a coffee. I hung out my washing and made the bed, I did a little watering and some dusting. H went up at 10 to ride 62 miles on his turbo trainer and I listened to the Archers omnibus. When it was over I changed into my cycle gear and went out on my bike, I rode 17 miles and picked some wild garlic to add to our dinner. When I got back H had just finished his ride. We had a liver patty sandwich washed down with a coffee and then a glass of wine.we watched the tour of Italy ( H fell asleep ). When it was over I made a pot of tea and cooked dinner. We had pork slices, liver, new potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower, I garnished the pork and liver with stir fried wild garlic and it was very nice. H had yogurt for pudding and I had an orange. Before I went out on my mountain bike I had a hot cross bun. And that is all I have eaten today. If I get really hungry around 8 o'clock I will have a few grapes.

Saturday.
I managed to sleep till 6 this morning. When I looked out of the window everywhere was damp so we must have had a bit of a shower. I did a load of washing but I didn't hang it out, I will sort it tomorrow. After breakfast and coffee I went to the chicken farm for eggs and as soon as I got back our no1 son came round, he hadn't been here long when our daughter and son in law arrived for H to mend his bike. My daughter and I then took their dog Macy ( a French bulldog) for a walk. When we came back the bike was almost finished so we had a quick cup of tea and then they left and we had lunch,( salad ) H turned on the ' tour of Italy ' and we had a glass of wine. I had a shower when it was over and then cooked dinner. We had pasta with chicken and sausage in a white wine sauce, I also added fried red onion, mushrooms and peas. It was very tasty. Today was a bit dull but the horrible wind had dropped and it was quite mild, perfect for the walk we did.

Friday.
We were both up by 5.30 and both had toast for breakfast. At 7am we went to Asda for our weekly shop. We were home again by 8 . We had a coffee and I hung out the washing. After I had had a bit of a tidy up we got ready to go out on our mountain bikes. We got as far as the road and H said his bike felt a bit strange, when we looked his inner tube was poking through a split in his front tyre and looked like a balloon. We had to walk back to the house and H changed his front wheel for the one from my old bike and we set off again. We had a lovely ride, it was wall to wall sunshine all the way round. All the trees are in leaf, bright green and the birds were singing. We rode 42.5 miles and loved every minute of it. We stopped for coffee and cakes at Aylsham station sitting in the sun.( H has a very pink head and my nose is burnt) ! When we got back home we had a cup a soup and a slice of cake, then a bit later a glass of wine and a bath. My washing is nice and dry again and my new bike went well. For dinner we had belly pork in apple sauce, cauliflower and potato wedges. Lemon cheesecake for dessert. Last evening our son in law came off his bike, he gashed his leg and has a swollen hand. He bent his handlebars so tomorrow morning he is coming round with his bike. H has a spare pair and will help him to sort it all out. H fell off his bike today too! He was stationary, had one foot clipped in tried to get the other in and just fell over sideways. He had a soft landing so he was ok

Thursday
Well I have had a lovely lazy day. I was up early (5.10) but I just sat and read till I heard H moving about then I made a pot of tea. We both had toast for breakfast and afterwards he made us a nice coffee. I hung out my washing and messed about in the garden for a while. I made a loaf of bread and then some soup for lunch. This afternoon I planted my shrubs that my son bought me for Mother's Day and spent an hour or so weeding and watering. It's a lovely relaxing job. I got the washing in when it was dry. When I was doing it my hosepipe suddenly flipped over and soaked me!! It was freezing.when I came in I had a shower and a cup of tea and for dinner tonight we had chicken curry with a glass of wine. I had an orange for my pud, H had yogurt. Our daughter rang just before dinner, she and her youngest daughter went swimming yesterday after school and this evening they have a hooping class.

Wednesday
I was up at 5.50 again and put on a load of washing. I had porridge again for breakfast but for lunch I took 2 cheese and tomato sandwiches with my bottle of water and a banana. I didn't hang my washing out because it was rather dull and H was having his Spanish lesson so wouldn't be there to get it in if it rained. I had to pick 10 boxes of rhubarb first, I had picked 9 and a bit when Andy came to collect it. I then had to pick radishes till I was picked up by the men to go to the planter. I had picked 68 bunches by the tine they came. Sitting on the back of the planter it was freezing we planted cabbages, cauliflowers, broccoli, leeks, sweetcorn and broard beans. It took us from 10.15 to 3.45 so I just had time to seed one tray of lettuce before hometime. It was lovely that my mug of tea was waiting for me when I got home,I wrapped my hands round it to warm them up. I had a bath and then washed my hair. For dinner tonight we had pizza and chips. It was quick and easy, I will cook something better tomorrow.

Monday
I was up at 5.50, made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge for breakfast. I packed myself a salad, a banana and a bottle of water for my lunch and packed my bag. I put on a load of washing and had time to hang it out before I had to leave. First I had to pick 25 bunches of radishes and then join the men on leeks. We had 4 rows left and the boss managed to lift the first 2 rows but the last 2 were really difficult, the ground is so hard, anyway we managed to get them all finished so no more leek trimming till around September. When we had finished them we went to the yard where we washed and packed them. There was half an hour of my time left so we all went to the greenhouse, filled 12 trays with peat and I just had time to seed 1 before I left off. My cup of tea was ready when I got home and while I was drinking it H ran me a bath. We just had eggs for tea and I have come upstairs to watch my soaps. I am not expecting to stay awake for very long. I have to go again tomorrow, we are doing the first big plant of the season.

May day
H and I got up at the same time this morning, I made a pot of tea, put on a load of washing and put on a loaf of bread before I had my breakfast of marmalade on toast. Oh, I also stacked and started the dishwasher. H and I then just sat about reading till our son came down because we didn't want to disturb him. When he was ready we played a game of cribbage and I won!! He then went outside and cleaned his car while I hung out the washing and unstacked the dishwasher and put everything away. After that it was time for me to get the lunches ready, it takes me ages to prepare a salad!! H had cheese and biscuits with pickle and we all had a coffee. Son and I then went round to visit his brother and sister in law before he went back home. For dinner I made a chicken stew with yesterday's leftover chicken. We had a second game of cards before dinner and I lost so after dinner we had to have a third game but I lost again!! Tomorrow I have to go to work, with an easterly wind it will be pretty cold in the field
