Thursday.

I got up at 6 when H woke me up. I put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had eggs for breakfast. I packed my lunch ( 2 cream crackers with butter and marmite, a banana and a bottle of water.) It was pretty foggy when I left for work so I didn’t hang the washing out. I had to pick 110 bunches of radishes, plant 400 lettuces and spend the rest of the day weeding. When I got home H had hung out the washing and it was dry. H had a Spanish lesson this morning and his teacher made us 4 scones so when I got home I ate 2 of them with a cup of coffee. This afternoon I did the ironing, swept the kitchen floor and cooked dinner. We had salmon with jacket potatoes and baked beans. I don’t have to go to work again till Monday.

Wednesday.

I got up at 6.30, put on a load of washing and had eggs for breakfast with a cup of tea. When it was done I hung it out and we had a cup of coffee. I made the bed and watered all my outdoor pots because all the rain we were promised didn’t arrive. H went up to have a turbo and I just sat and read my book. When he had done he showered and we got ready to go out to see if we could book a venue for my birthday. We have booked a Sunday lunch at the old rectory in Crostwick. The menu looks very nice with several choices on all 3 courses. The problem came when I had to pay for booking a private room and pay for it as the deposit for the meal. The computer wouldn’t work so they were unable to take my money. The lady says it’s all down in the book and she will see me in September when we can talk it over and I can pay then. I am sure it will be ok but I hope it is because as I want it in November it’s close to everyone booking Christmas meals and I would struggle to get somewhere else at a late date plus I have to send out the invitations. When we got home we had a coffee and a sausage sandwich for lunch. We both fell asleep this afternoon!! I don’t know why I am so tired! I got my washing dry and for dinner we had spaghetti bolognese and it was very nice. Work again tomorrow.

Tuesday.

I got up at 5.30 had toast and tea for breakfast, dressed, packed my lunch and my bag, made the bed and had time to read a chapter of my book before leaving for work. Nobody wanted anything so I spent all day working in the greenhouse. It was ok to start with but as the morning went on it became hotter and hotter. First I had to de shoot the tomato plants and it took till 10, Andy was sowing seeds. We had our coffee break and then finished seeding the 52 trays, each with 308 seeds in. After that  he and I filled 450 pots, in 350 of them we planted 2 runner beans in to each pot and in the other 100 we planted courgette seeds, 1 to each pot. I just had time to hoe one row of tomatoes before my hometime at one o’clock. On the way home I called at the chicken farm for 2 dozen eggs. When I got home we had a coffee and macaroni cheese for lunch. I was so tired I struggled to stay awake so I had a shower which woke me up a bit. We had fish pie for dinner with grilled tomatoes and a nice cup of tea.   I have to work again on Thursday.

Monday

I didn’t blog yesterday because that day was even more boring than all the other blogs I write!!! Today I put on a load of washing and had a hot cross bun and a cup of tea for breakfast. I hung the washing out and H made us a coffee, we haven’t had a proper coffee for ages because he de scaled our machine and after that it didn’t work. But this morning he sorted  it out. My knee was painful when I got up this morning for some reason so I borrowed Hs knee brace. We decided not to go out on our bikes so I worked in the garden instead. My garden bin was emptied on Friday and it’s full already! The bits I have done look quite nice. For lunch we had a cheese sandwich with radishes and another proper coffee to celebrate the machine being fixed. We sat in the sun for a while and H spent ages cleaning our bikes, he’s done a great job and my bike looks just like new. For dinner tonight we had roast chicken, new potatoes, cauliflower, carrots and gravy, it w as nice. No 1 son rang they are fine and enjoying the lovely weather. Next weekend will be exciting because our daughter and family are getting a new puppy.

Her husband brought her and her bike round and we rode from ours. So it was around 40 miles today. When we got home for the second time H put her bike in our car and ran her home while I cooked dinner. We had duck legs in orange and red wine sauce with new potatoes and garlic mushrooms. For pud we had apple tart and a dollop of yogurt. We had a glass of wine. I had a shower and watched Britain’s got talent.

I got all 4 bins in, our two and our neighbours two because they had gone out. At 11.15 we got ready to go to Corston village hall to receive an award given posthumously to Hs brother, my brother in law, he is Corstons village champion for 2018. He was always helping others and a really nice guy? We had soup, sandwiches, and dessert, I had fresh fruit salad and cream ( which was delish ) and H had crumble. There was tea and coffee and water on the tables. All the people there were so nice.  When we got home we had a glass of wine and watched the ‘tour’. When it is done I will have a shower and get something for tea. We won’t want much because we are still stuffed from lunch, we will have a cup of tea and a bun.

By then it was 11.25 and I spent the rest of my time weeding beetroot. When I got home H made me a coffee and we had Mac and cheese for lunch. We sat in the sun for an hour but then it clouded over so we came inside and watched the tour of Italy. I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had a pork and apple burger, a sausage, fried potatoes and eggs with a slice of bread and butter. Tuesday.

I can’t believe I managed to stay in bed till 7 this morning, I went to bed at 9.30.!! We had our breakfast and then a coffee. I sat and read my book for a while and H got our bikes out of the garage and cleaned them ready for us to go out for a ride. We got ready and rode along Marriotts Way again, it was a lovely ride, we took our time and just enjoyed nature. I spotted a Long tail Tits nest with the parents really busy going in and out with mouthfuls of grubs. We also saw a baby rabbit so there are still some in our area. We did 22 miles. When we got home we had cheese sandwiches with radishes and another coffee. I changed into my shorts and sat in the garden,H said said it was too cold for him because it was a bit breezy. For dinner I made a liver and mushroom casserole which is delicious, it’s a good job it’s nice because I made enough so we can have it tomorrow as well. When they were done I pricked out lettuce plants into the field till it was home time. When I got home I had a coffee and a small tin of sardines for my lunch, ( H had already eaten). We watched the tour of Italy and it poured with rain with a massive thunder storm. I had a bath and cooked dinner when it was over. H didn’t have his Spanish lesson today, he went but after he had knocked several times he popped a note through the door and came home again. He hadn’t been home long when he received a message asking where he was! He’s not going again till next week.

Tuesday.

We both got up at 6 and both had tea and toast for breakfast. Next we had a coffee and I did a bit of clearing up. I sat and read my book and managed to finish it before we had to get ready to go out on our bikes. We left home at 9.30 and started our ride on the track where we did the first 8 miles. Then we took to the road and went to Holt via Hunworth and home via Bakensthorpe. On our way home, when we got to Corston we kept going straight till we reached the track again at Attlebridge and from there we finished our ride off road. We ended up with 42 miles and it took us all morning. When we got home we had a poached egg on toast and a hot cross bun. It was really thick cloud the nearer we got to the coast and very misty which made it quite cold but when we got home it was wall to wall sunshine so we sat in the garden for a couple of hours topping up our tan. When we went in we had a bath and then I cooked dinner. We had fish pie with cauliflower and mushy peas.

Monday, 14 May 2018

Monday.

I got up at 5.50 and so did H . I put on a load of washing while he made a pot of tea. I hung yesterday’s washing out and we had our breakfast. I packed a hot cross bun a banana and a bottle of water, dressed, made the bed etc. hung out todays washing and went to work. I had to pick 50 bunches of radishes, trim 3 boxes of leeks ( the last of them for this season ) and then walk to the greenhouse where I had to string up the tomato plants. First I had to hoe them which wasn’t easy because they were really too damp and I am sure all the little weeds will grow again. When I got home H made me a coffee and I had a small tin of sardines for my lunch, he had already had beans on toast. He cycled to Aylsham this morning to transfer some money. At 3 pm I am going to have a bath, make a pot of tea and after I have watched tipping point I will get dinner. We are having breaded cod with a jacket potato, peas and cauliflower. I have to work again on Thursday.

Sunday, 13 May 2018

Sunday.

I got up at 6and made a pot of tea. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. We had a coffee and I read a bit of my book. I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away, made the bed and dusted. It was very dull with no wind so I didn’t hang my washing out. I dug up a few weeds and tied up some plants. We had a hot cross bun with a coffee and at 11.15 our daughter and son in law came round. They brought their dog with them so that daughter and I could go for a walk while our son in law had a go on the turbo trainer. While he was here he measured up our kitchen because I would like some new cupboard doors. Hen they left we had some chicken pasta for lunch and H had a glass of wine but I didn’t have any it’s too fattening. We watched the tour of Italy and the stage ended on top of a mountain with really deep snow on top. I had a bath and washed my hair then I got dinner. We had chicken salad with garlic bread, and rhubarb and custard for pudding. I was in the middle of this blog when no 2son rang so we had a chat and then I passed him over to H. He is keeping fit, climbing and running etc. Tomorrow I have to go to work.

Saturday, 12 May 2018

Saturday.

We got up at 6 and had our breakfast. Next we had a coffee and I read a chapter of my book. As soon as H went up to turbo I began to do the housework. I swept and washed the kitchen and toilet floors then I made the bed and vacuumed all upstairs. I dusted it all and took the cleaner down, did the stairs and then all downstairs. I dusted there too and polished. Next I had a coffee and rang my sister in law for a chat. I soaked my orchids and watered the rest of the indoor plants. Everywhere looks nice so I sat in the sun till H finished and came down then I made him a coffee and we had cheese on toast for lunch. We watched the tour of Italy ( cycle race ), had a glass of wine, a shower and I cooked dinner. I had to get our sun loungers in because it began to rain but it wasn’t enough to do any good.

Friday, 11 May 2018

Friday.

I got up at 6 woken up by H. I put on a small load of washing and had a slice of toast for breakfast. We got ready straight away to go shopping. On the way home H said we would have a quick coffee and when I had unpacked etc we would get ready and go out on our bikes. We had only been home a few minutes when the phone rang and it was our daughter saying that her hubby had the day off and they were going along the track, would we like to come. As that is what we had planned we were happy to say yes. We met them at 9.45 and rode to Reepham taking in the Themelthorpe loop. At Reepham station we had a drink and then rode home again.(22.7 miles ). It was great and I loved it. I had hung out my washing before we left and it was dry when we got home it was so windy! On the track we hardly noticed it we were nice and sheltered. We had a sausage sandwich and a coffee for lunch. I did a bit of work in the garden and we watched the ‘ tour of Italy.’ I had a shower  and then H made a paella for dinner 🥘. He did a good job and it was delicious but I am not looking forward to cleaning the gas hob tomorrow! Men are messy.

Thursday, 10 May 2018

Thursday.

H came and woke me up just before 6. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I packed a hot cross bun, a banana and a bottle of water, dressed, made the bed and got ready to go to work. I had to pick 106 bunches of radishes first. The ground they were planted in was like a rock and it was a struggle to get them out, the tops kept breaking off so I had to try to pull them up by gripping the radish rather than the leaves and that made it slow work. I finished them at 9.27 and had to go straight to carrots and pull up 5 boxes. Andy came to pick me and my carrots up, took me back to the yard to wash and pack them. After that I had to go to the greenhouse and plant tomatoes. I did 4 of the 6 rows before hometime and Andy will finish the rest. I don’t have to work again till Monday. We had a coffee when I got home and some sweet and sour rice. H hung the washing out for me this morning when the rain stopped and I got it in all nice and dry. For dinner we had sausages, bacon, eggs, baked beans and chips.

Wednesday, 9 May 2018

Wednesday.

I was a bit disappointed when I got home from work yesterday because H and I had arranged to go for a bike ride today but he said that he had had a message from his Spanish teacher asking him to go today instead of Thursday but it turned out ok. I got up at six ish and had eggs for breakfast. We had a coffee and H studied his Spanish so I read my book. He decided to bike to his lesson so I got ready and went part of the way with him, then I carried on and did a ride on my own. It was quite hard work because I went to Ringland and the ride is pretty hilly. I did 27 miles and enjoyed it. I but up a hare in a field, it was huge and I had no chance of keeping up with it, but the best bit was when a buzzard flew over my head only inches away. When I got home H was just back so we had our lunch
( sausage sandwiches) and then he helped me to cut the tops out of 2 trees in the garden and he has done a great job. I cleared the bits up and now our garden bin is full. For dinner tonight we had chicken and pasta with added peas, onion and chopped wild garlic I found on my bike ride. Tomorrow I have to work again.

Tuesday, 8 May 2018

Tuesday.

I got up at 5.50, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had eggs for breakfast. I made the bed, dressed, packed my lunch and bag, hung out the washing and went to work. We planted first ( leeks and cabbages ). Then I did 50 bunches of radishes which took the time to 10 o’clock. We had our coffee break, I had a hot cross bun and a banana. After break I had to work in the greenhouse, I filled 12 trays with peat, watered them and filled them with lettuce seeds. (308 seeds in each tray) . It still wasn’t quite time to leave off so I filled 45 flower pots and planted each one with chives. W hen I got home I planted the marigolds I bought at the weekend and then pulled the weeds out of the passage outside our back gate. When I had done H made me a coffee and I had it with 3 cheese straws. Next I sat in the garden for an hour and a half then went in to watch the end of the stage race in Italy. When it was over I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had quiche, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and fried potatoes. I have got tomorrow off but I have to work again on Thursday.

Monday, 7 May 2018

Monday.

I got up at 6.15, put on a load of washing and had eggs for breakfast. We had a coffee and I swept and washed the kitchen and toilet floors. H said we ought to go out on our bike’s early because as the weather is so nice the track and roads would be pretty busy later. So as soon as the washing was done I hung it out and then got ready to go. We left home at 8.40 and started off by riding 4 miles off road. Then we rode on the road the rest of the way to Aylsham, got back on the track and went to Reepham, on the road again to Whitwell and finally the track the rest of the way home. It was 31 miles. The weather was perfect and we both enjoyed the ride. We had a coffee and a sandwich for lunch with a hot cross bun and a banana. We sat in the garden as long as we could bare it then we came in and had a glass of wine before our baths. For dinner we had pork steaks with potatoes, carrots. broccoli and cauliflower. Tomorrow I have to go to work.

Sunday, 6 May 2018

Sunny Sunday.

I got up at 7, stripped the bed and put on a load of washing. We had our breakfast and a coffee and when the washing was done I hung it out. I did a bit of housework and at 10 I got ready to cycle to the chicken farm for eggs. It’s only a mile from our house so I did a bit of a detour and ended up with 11 and a bit miles. When I got back I put my shorts on and sat in the garden. When H had finished his ride we had a fried egg sandwich for lunch with a cup of coffee. I spent all afternoon sunning myself and came in at 3.30, had a bath and a cup of tea. I got my washing all lovely and dry and was able to put it all back on the bed.

Saturday, 5 May 2018

Saturday.

I got up at 6, put on a load of washing and had a slice of toast for breakfast.H had already made the pot of tea. As soon as we had finished we got ready to go shopping. When we got back we unpacked, put everything away and had a cream donut with a cup of coffee. I hung out the washing and read my magazine. As soon as I was done H said we should get ready and go for a bike ride, so we did. It was lovely and we both enjoyed it. We went to Reepham station where we had a coffee and a fruit scone with butter. The track was very muddy in places still. When we got home we had a glass of wine and some cheese straws for lunch sitting in the garden in the sun. We sat outside till 4 and then each had a shower before I cooked dinner. We had chicken pies topped with cheese and garlic, new potatoes, sprouting broccoli and carrots. Cheesecake for pud.
Last night I was watching my soa ps upstairs when the smoke detector on the landing began to peep, telling us it had a low battery. ( they have been up 5 years). When H came up to bed I asked him to take the battery out so it didn’t keep us awake, he did so but we could still hear a peeping! H said I was stupid because it was the one in the pain cave, ( I knew it was the landing because I stood beneath it it.) Anyway he took out a second battery and went to clean his teeth, before he could get the toothpaste on his brush the detector in the bedroom started up. I know we got them all on the same day but I still think it’s amazing the batteries could be that close. We have 10 altogether all installed on the same day so we thought we better do them all so batteries cost me a fortune!

Friday, 4 May 2018

Friday.

I got up at 5.50 made a pot of tea and had eggs for breakfast. I packed my lunch , made the bed, sorted a change of clothes for the visit to the hairdressers and got ready to go to work. We went planting right away and did a verity of greens, kale broccoli, cabbages, cauliflower and Romanesque. And several verities of each .we planted till 10, there are 200 plants in each row and we planted 32 rows I think. We then had our coffee break and moved down the field to plant sweet corn . There are 400 corns in each row and we planted 24 rows. The first 2 rows were on a slope so we were unable to plant them with the planter so I had to do them all at the end with a trowel. I spent the last 45 minutes weeding trays of leeks in the greenhouse ready to plant on Tuesday. At 1pm I changed and went to the hairdressers. I got home around 3.30 we had a cup of tea and then a glass of wine. For dinner we had pizza.

Thursday, 3 May 2018

Thursday.

I got up at 6.30, put on a load of washing and had a slice of toast for my breakfast for a change. When the washing was done I hung it out and also yesterday’s. We had a coffee and H put my bike on the turbo trainer ready for me to have a ride. I did 20.5 miles in just over an hour. While I was having a shower the sun came out so I dropped everything so I could sit in the sun. H went for his Spanish lesson and I swept and washed the kitchen floor, then went straight back out into the sun. It wasn’t all that warm but my legs have changed colour. We had cheese on toast for lunch with a coffee. I stayed outside till 3.15 and when I went in H opened his bottle of birthday bubbly. For dinner tonight we had fish pie with wilted spinach. I have to work again tomorrow morning and I have a hairdressers appointment in the afternoon so I will go straight there from work.

Wednesday, 2 May 2018

Wednesday work

I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing, made a pot of tea and had my breakfast. I packed 2 buttered cream crackers, a banana and a bottle of water, made the bed, dressed etc. and got ready to go to work. First I had to go with Andy to the leeks and first we saw 2 moor hens which ran up and into the resivour and then we saw 2 beautiful fully grown hares playing around really close to us, they in turn put a pheasant up and he was in his full colours. We trimmed 6 boxes of leeks and then pulled up 6 boxes of carrots. By that time it was 10 o’clock so we went down to wash it all and then we had our ‘ coffee break’. Next I had to pick 70 bunches of radishes which was a bit of a search and took me ages. I had to walk back to the leeks again after that and trim them till home time. (2 boxes) . When I got home H had made a pot of tea and we had a pasta pot for lunch. I felt pretty tired this afternoon so I just sat and read. I had a bath then I got dinner. We had sausages, bacon, mushrooms, peas, sweet corn, eggs and chips. I have to work again on Friday.

Tuesday, 1 May 2018

Tuesday.

I got up at 6 and made a pot of tea. I had eggs for breakfast an hung out yesterday’s washing. We had a coffee and I read a chapter of a new book and at 9.30 I went up to get ready to turbo. It was nice and sunny and I would have liked to go out but it was very windy and only 3 degrees. Also, the track would have been too muddy for a ride. I did an hour and 10 minutes and rode 23.1 miles, a nice start to May. When I had done we had a coffee and a slice of cake. H had a slice of cold pizza. He went up to ride at 12.30 and no 1 son rang to say he was popping round on his way to work to bring me some plants from my daughter in law. He had a coffee and a slice of cake but couldn’t stay because he was on his way to Thetford. In the afternoon H put our sun chairs out on the lawn. It was pretty cold but we sat out for an hour in our shorts but with jumpers and jackets ! For dinner we had roast beef with potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and gravy with pineapple for pudding. Tomorrow I have to go to work.
