Workday

I managed to wake up in plenty of time to have my breakfast, pack my lunch etc. and go to work. I had to work with Andrew to start with and we had to pick 5 dozen bunches of carrots and 3 boxes of loose ones. Then he went down to wash them and I walked down to the leeks and trimmed them for the rest of the day. When I left off my boss paid me and said he wouldn't need me again till next Monday. When I got home our son had left and was safely back home. We had yesterday's left over meat with jacket potatoes and baked beans for our dinner with some home made bread.

Sunday

In bed till 7 again!! I must remember to get up earlier tomorrow because I have to go to work. I couldn't be bothered to make myself a bowl of porridge so I just had a slice of toast with a huge mug of tea, then I just sat and read until son came down. I hung out my washing which came in all lovely and dry again and smelling of fresh air. I made son some blueberry flapjack to take home with him tomorrow and also a batch of brownies. He brought the mixture home in a jar and all I had to do was add melted butter and eggs. Then H went on his turbo to ride a training race while son and I played cribbage. We played 3 games ( best out of 3 ). He won the first, I won the second, but only just and then I also won the third. ,!! However he got me back because this afternoon all 3 of us played scrabble and he won! H came second so I was last. We had cheese salad for lunch and tonight roast pork with mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots, broccoli batter puds and gravy. The crackling was delicious. We had pancakes for afters with sugar and lemon because we didn't have them on shrove Tuesday.

Saturday

It's been a nice day for me. I didn't get up till 7.30 and by then H had made a pot of tea, stacked and started the dishwasher and eaten his breakfast. I was really pleased about the last bit because he had had porridge. I fancied porridge for my breakfast but if I had seen H's bowl full it would have choked me off! His is so thick you almost have to cut it with a knife and because he adds jam or honey it's always a dirty grey. Anyway I put on a load of washing and hung it out when it was done. We then sat and read till our son came Down ( 10 am ). After he had also had porridge we all got ready and went for a ride along Marriotts way on our mountain bikes. It was lovely while the sun was out but the second it went in it was freezing. It was 18 and a bit miles so enough excersize for today. We had bacon sarnies for lunch and a slice of choc' sponge. This afternoon we watched rugby and I made a beef stew for dinner. My washing was all lovely and dry when I brought it in. We had a bottle of wine between us and then they started to watch a film I didn't like the look of so I came upstairs to blog.

Friday

We shopped straight after breakfast and I managed to stay under £80, just. When we came back home the washing was finished so I hung it out. I vacuumed up and downstairs and then dusted. We had a coffee and a hot cross bun, then I made a chocolate sponge which has turned out really well I sandwiched it together with chocolate cream. Then I made some vegetable soup for lunch. No2 son arrived just 6 minuites before it was done, so good timing on his part. This afternoon H had a hospital appointment because he keeps getting stomach pains. He has already had scans, X Ray's etc. but it's still a mystery. His appointment was at 2.40 and he was called in dead on time. The Doc said they need to try a camera down his throat to look in his stomach and they are also doing another cat scan. We were home again by 3.35 even after me queueing in the chemist for ages and just before 4 pm the hospital rang and gave H an appointment for next Thursday for his camera op. Now I think that is good service for you. When we came home son had gone to the climbing centre so we had another coffee and waited for him to come home before I got dinner. It was chicken pie, peas, potato wedges and mushrooms. We had tiramasu for pud. They are now watching a film and I am watching rugby.

Thursday

I was up at 6.30 and had toast and tea for my breakfast. A little later we had a coffee and a biscuit. At 9.30 we began to get ready to go out on our bikes.it was very cold so we had to wrap up well. We cycled 28.61 miles at almost 15 mph. When we arrived back we had a cup of hot chocolate and a slice of cheese on toast.our daughter rang this afternoon, she had just been swimming. She also runs and cycles! I sat about all afternoon watching tv and for dinner tonight we had a Chinese meal delivered. We have just eaten it and it was very nice. Tonight is the last in the series of ' death in paradise ', it's my favourite program at the moment so I am sorry it's going to be over.

Wednesday

A good lie in this morning, I was in bed before 11 pm ( unusual for me ) and didn't get up till 6.45. I had porridge for my breakfast and hung out a load of washing. When H went to work on his turbo trainer I went out to work on the garden. When H was done I went in and we had a corned beef sandwich for lunch. As soon as I had finished mine I went back out to carry on trimming round the lawn at the back. I came in at 2.15 and we had a glass of wine. For dinner tonight we had lasagne with potato wedges and roast tomatoes. I had an orange for my pudding.

Tuesday, 23 February 2016

Tuesday

I was up at 5.20 and just sat and read till I heard H moving about, then I put the kettle on and made the tea. We had our breakfast and then a cup of coffee and a hot cross bun. We were going out on our bikes but when it was time to get ready the sky turned really black so we changed our minds. I changed and rode for an hour on the turbo trainer, it was hot work and I did 18.4 miles. After that we went to our butchers where I spent £ 58.! Now my freezer is nice and full again. I bought my tv magazine on the way home and we had a sausage roll for lunch. Then we went to visit our daughter, saw our grandson who was just off out and then had a nice cup of tea and as we were about to leave no2 Grandaughter came home from school  so we saw her as well. For dinner we had jacket potatoes, baked beans, a slice of bread and butter and I had a sirloin steak but H had 2 pork slices because he is off red meat at the moment.

Monday, 22 February 2016

Monday

I had my breakfast, packed my lunch, and went off to work. I had to pick 36 bunches of carrots, 3 boxes of loose ones and then leeks for the rest of the day. I don't have to go again until next Monday, this time of year it's always slow. I will be more busy in the spring. We hope to go out on our bikes tomorrow so I hope it's not too windy.

Sunday, 21 February 2016

Sunday

Today I have done nothing apart from cook dinner. My back has been so painful. I haven't even been outside the front or back door. H was pleased to see his friend yesterday and had a nice afternoon. I have just sat reading a book all day. I think I feel a bit better for it.H has done loads of excersize and rode 46 miles on his turbo trainer this morning.
I am at work tomorrow but it is my only day in the coming week.

Friday, 19 February 2016

Friday

We went for our weekly shop first thing this morning and then home for a coffee and hot cross bun. After that I changed into my cycle gear to do s training ride on ' zwift Island '. It was a course I don't like very much so I only rode just over 1 lap ( 13.6 miles ). It took me 47 minuites and when I had done H swapped bikes over and he had a ride. We had a corned beef for lunch, then I went into the garden to do a bit of weeding. It was so nice in the sun I stayed out there for a couple of hours. H cleaned the car. For dinner tonight we had cod, jacket potatoes and baked beans.
Tomorrow afternoon H has an old cycling friend coming round for a chat, it's over a year since we have we have seen him and his wife so we will have a lot of catching up to do.

Thursday, 18 February 2016

Thursday

It was work for me today so as soon as I had eaten my breakfast I packed my lunch and got ready to go. It was horrible to start with, cold and raining, my fingers froze! Later the sun came out and it turned into a much better day. I had to pick 96 bunches of carrots and spent all the rest of the day trimming leeks. We had chicken curry for dinner tonight.
It's our no 2 Grandaughter's birthday today and she is 13 so is now a teenager. We bought her some curling tongs ( they were on her list ) and she sent me a lovely picture of her hair after she had tried them out.

Wednesday, 17 February 2016

Wednesday

I am having a very lazy day. I didn't get up till gone 7 and by then H had made the tea, sliced the bread and put on the bread maker. We both sat and watched tv for a while and at 9.30, after a cup of coffee, he changed to ride on his turbo trainer. While he was doing that I sat and sewed up my latest jacket and sew on the buttons I bought in Sheringham yesterday. When that was done I caught up to date with my ironing and made some vegetable soup, we had it for lunch with the crust off our nice new loaf and it was all very tasty. This afternoon I cut a few dead bits out of the garden and I am now going to start a new book. Yesterday I thought my back was on the mend but it's quite sore again today. We are having a cheese and mushroom omelette for dinner tonight with stewed apple and ice cream for pudding.

Tuesday, 16 February 2016

Tuesday

Today has been a good day. We picked our daughter and no2 Grandaughter up at 10 am to go for a walk in Sheringham park. The first problem was at the Cromer road roundabout near Norwich airport. We were in a long queue of traffic that was moving very slowly. In the distance we could see traffic lights so when we could we took another road and got back to the C rd. past the holdup. We sailed happily along until we got to Roughton when we hit another snag. There had been a 12 car pile up due to the ice and fog!!! We were sent by the police on a detour down a narrow lane which was fine till we met another car.
in front of us going the same way was a 4 by 4 and a small rear wheel drive BMW. Well the first 2 oncoming cars were passed without a problem because we were at a passing place but the third one was a nightmare! There were cars behind us as well as in front and we all had to back up. The car in front of us was all over the place, with a dreadful wheel spin and I thought we were stuck there for the rest of the day. We finally made it through and safely to the car park. We had a lovely walk through the park and all climbed the steps to the top of the gazebo. Then H walked back to the car and drove to Sheringham so that L P and I could walk there along the cliff top. It was a lovely walk in the sun and listening to the sea rolling in on the stones along the shore. H met us in Sheringham and we found a fish shop where we all had fish and chips. It was a lovely day and I had a really nice time. When we got back home we had a cup of tea and a biscuit and later a cup of coffee and a banana. We were too full for much else so I haven't had to cook tonight.

Monday, 15 February 2016

Monday

Today I had to go to work and it was awful. My back is really sore and normally I wouldn't have gone but my boss is in France and I didn't want to let the other 2 down. My car was covered in snow which had frozen on and took ages for H to clear. Some of the roads were slippery and the back end of my car was all over the place. It was freezing working in the fields, and kept hailing, snowing and raining. I was so glad when it was time for me to go home. I was also glad I had made tonight's dinner yesterday and only had to heat it up. I hope my back has improved a bit tomorrow because I hope to go for a walk.

Saturday

Yesterday after I wrote my blog I hurt my back. I don't know what I did, one minuite I was ok and the next min I was in agony.i can't get comfortable how ever hard I try. I had hardly any sleep so now I feel like rubbish. I made soup for lunch and pork slices for dinner with sprouts, carrots, broccoli and mash. Because I did a lot of sitting about I finished the matinee coat I was knitting and knitted a pair of bootees to match.

Friday, 12 February 2016

Friday

H had to wake me up at 6.20 so I could have my breakfast before we went shopping. I dressed and by the time I was ready so was my toast and cup of tea. He had toasted me a slice of the fruit and malt loaf he made yesterday, I spread it with butter and it was lovely. I did the shopping, took it back to the car, put it in the boot and then we both went in to get our passport photos. ( we have to renew them )  we both look awful on them but I actually look better than the one I had 10 years ago!!! We came home unpacked etc. and had a coffee with a hot cross bun. We then changed to go out on our mountain bikes along the track. We rode 18 miles in just over an hour and a half. When we got back we came in and I put the kettle on and by the time it took me to put 2 cups of water in it had begun to pour with rain. We were so lucky to get round in the dry and back only minuites before it started. We had a sandwich and a cup of soup, it stopped raining and H went out to clean the car. While he was doing that I emptied the dishwasher, made a loaf of bread and also a ' boiled ' cake. Then I tidied the kitchen and made us each a coffee. Our clean car looks nice.
For dinner tonight we are having sausage and chicken pasta bake which I will be making from scratch when my cake is out of the oven.

Thursday, 11 February 2016

Another nice day

I spent half of last night coughing, so when I got up I had a really sore throat. I had porridge for my breakfast with a big mug of tea and a little later a cup of coffee.  My throat began to feel better after all the fluids so I dressed and hung out the washing. H and I then went into the garage, emptied 3 big wall cupboards we had in there, put them in the car and took them to the City dump. Our garage is in a terrible state, it's so full of junk it's impossible to move. I am trying to get H to throw things away so we can see the floor. He has an enormous work bench in there and doesn't work at it any more so I have persuaded him to cut it up and get rid of it. I made some soup for lunch which was nice. After I had eaten mine I sew up my knitting and then went outside and worked in the garden for an hour and a half to make up for the fact that we didn't go out on our bikes. It was too cold this morning when we should have gone and I didn't fancy gasping in that freezing air with my sore throat. We had a lovely dinner, steak, chips, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and a slice of bread crisped up in the oven and dripping with butter.

Wednesday, 10 February 2016

Wednesday

After all my normal chores I sat and knitted while H was on his turbo trainer. I managed to finish the little coat so now all I have to do is sew it up and get 3 buttons. I have enough wool left over for bootees. When H had finished he showered and we went off to Fakenham for a pub lunch. We both had potato skins for starters with mushrooms, cheese and onion. Then H had ham, 2 eggs, peas and chips and I had the same but swapped the ham for sausages. We had a cider and a coffee. There were some lovely puddings on the menu -/: sticky toffee pudding, spotted dick, bread and butter pud, etc.etc. But we were too full for any of them. We had a wander round the shops and then came home again. For tea all we had was a large mug of tea and 2 biscuits. Oh and a glass of wine. So I have had a nice day.

Tuesday, 9 February 2016

Tuesday

I woke up with a blinding headache and dreadful earache in my right ear. I had earache when I went to bed last night and put it down to the strong wind. I took 2 paracetamol and had my breakfast. I felt horrible and thought there was no way I would be going out on my bike. When my washing was done I hung it out and then as I was up and about I washed up the pots and pans, I began to feel a bit better so I swept the kitchen floor and then wiped all my cupboard doors and worktop's. I filled our bird feeders and dusted all downstairs. We had a coffee and I felt fine so we got ready to go out on our bikes. I put cotton wool in my ear just to be on the safe side and we rode 32 and a bit miles.  H wasn't keen to go because it was a bit too cold for him but I think he is glad we went. I loved it, we cycled to Aylsham but a longer route than we have been using. When we came back we had cheese and biscuits for lunch and a coffee and hot cross bun. My washing was dry, bonus. For dinner tonight I am cooking a roast, chicken, roast and mashed potatoes, carrots, cabbage and gravy with batter puddings.

Monday, 8 February 2016

Payday came early

It was awful at work, so windy. I picked 60 bunches of carrots, 3 boxes of loose ones and then leeks. We went down at 12 to wash and pack things and then I went back on to the leeks. As the day went the wind increased and at times it was a struggle to stay on our feet. As I don't have to go any more this week my boss paid me. My wage packets are getting lighter each week. We had finished everything bu 3.50 so we all went home.H wasn't expecting me so early but he had just made the pot of tea. Eggs beans and chips for dinner with a nice slice of new bread and butter. H made the loaf this morning. We are hoping to go for a bike ride tomorrow so I hope the wind drops.

Sunday, 7 February 2016

Sunday

I was up just after 7 this morning so a nice lay in. It was a nice sunny day here but pretty chilly, with the usual strong wind. H was riding a virtual race at 11am so didn't want to go out on his bike. He said I could either go out on my own or wait for him and he would go out with me in the afternoon. I knew if I waited till later I wouldn't go so I went for the third option which was to have a virtual ride myself. I was ready at 8.30 and rode for exactly 1 hour and managed to ride 18 miles. It was really hard and when I finished my legs were so wobbly I could hardly stand. I felt better after a shower. When I had dressed I just sat and knitted till H had finished his ride, then I made corned beef sandwiches and a drink for lunch. Then, as I am hooked on knitting at the moment, I sat and did it all afternoon. The little jacket is coming along nicely and I am up to the armholes on both fronts and the back, I have finished one sleeve up to the top and am half way up the other one. I have given up for today now because my fingers are stiff. For dinner we are having pork, carrots, cabbage and mashed potato. I am off to work tomorrow but I have got the rest of the week off so I hope to do something nice.

Saturday, 6 February 2016

Saturday

I had porridge for breakfast for a change with a cup of tea. We sat about watching tv and then had a coffee before I hung out the washing. I did a bit of housework and then some knitting. We had cheese on toast for lunch after that I worked in the garden for an hour, weeding. ( you can't see where I have been.) we watched more tele' and I did more knitting. For dinner I cooked a pasta bake with a mixture of vegetables, sausages and chicken.H said it was nice. It's now almost 7pm so I am going to put my knitting away and watch tv.

Friday, 5 February 2016

Friday

First it was the weekly shop and I only spent £55.14, then it was a coffee while I read my new tv magazine. Before we left we put the dish washer on but while we were out we had a power cut so it was all in a muddle and we had to sort it out and do it all again.there was also all the clocks to reset, cooker, heating, microwave oven etc. ect. I then vacuumed the whole house made the bed and brought the bins back in. In Asda I bought a couple of balls of blue wool baby wool so I can knit a matinee coat for my no 1 Grandaughter's friend who is having a little boy. I have already started it, I love knitting. We had a corned beef sandwich for lunch with a coffee after which I rode for an hour on H's turbo trainer. I rode 15.6 miles. I could have gone faster but I wanted a steady ride. I tried to keep it  at 15 m p h. We have just had our bath's and now I am going to cook dinner. I was given a dozen eggs yesterday so we are each having a 3 egg cheese and mushroom omelette, with chips and peas.

Thursday, 4 February 2016

Thursday

It was work today so I don't have much to write about. I had to pick 8 dozen bunched carrots, 3 boxes of loose ones. I then trimmed leeks for the rest of the day, breaking twice to help wash and pack things. We are running out of things for me to do at work and today my boss said he will only need me one day next week. It's a good time of year to be at home in the warm rather than outside in the wet and cold. We had steak pie, potatoes, broccoli, carrot and gravy for dinner, and now I am going to watch my soaps,I hope I can stay awake for ' death in Paradise '

Wednesday, 3 February 2016

Photos I took along the track, the felled trees in where the new Norwich bypass is going.

Wednesday

It's been a good day for me, I got my washing out and dry after a nice lay in. A leisurely breakfast a nice cup of coffee and a biscuit. We sat and watched a cycle race on u tube and then I washed up all the pots and pans and cleaned the kitchen. After that and another coffee I changed into my cycle gear and got ready to go out on my bike. I rode along the track for the first time this year. I went on my own because H was on his turbo trainer riding a virtual race. I rode 17.8 miles and it was hard work because the track is still quite muddy and it's a bit like riding through treacle. After 5 miles I thought about turning round and going home but kept going and did the round trip.
When I got back H was still riding. I made corned beef and chicken sandwiches with brown sauce and also cut us off a slice of cake. I had a shower and for dinner I made a nice spaghetti bolognase with quorn, mushrooms, fried onions, chopped carrot, a tin of chopped tomatoes 2 oxo cubes and a glug of wine. Oh and a few frozen peas.

Tuesday, 2 February 2016

Tuesday

We both had a lay in and didn't get up till nearly 7. I put on a load of washing and H put on the dishwasher. After breakfast I hung the washing out while H opened the garage to get out our bikes only to find he has a puncture in his front tyre. He took the wheel out and soon had it mended. We then went for a ride but it was so dreadfully windy we cut our ride short and only rode 26.2 miles and most of it was hard work. As soon as we had finished we showered and had lunch. ( poached eggs on toast, a cup of soup and a slice of cake. ) I have just been to get the washing in and it's all lovely and dry. I made a loaf of bread and took some salmon out of the freezer for tonight's dinner which we are having with mushrooms, baked beans and a jacket potatoes with a slice of my new loaf.

Monday

Yesterday I forgot to write my blog!!!! I was busy in the morning playing crib' with no 2 son. I like playing cards but cribbage is my favourite game by far. All our games were realy close but I just managed to win 4 games to 3. While we were doing this H was on his turbo trainer riding a virtual race with 60 others. He did 65 and a bit miles at 22 and a bit miles an hour. In the afternoon all 3 of us played scrabble, I came second, I intend to win next time. Well that was yesterday. Today I worked and it was carrots and leeks as usual. We had leftover chicken for dinner tonight and I took chicken sandwiches to work. I haven't got to go again till Thursday. No 2 son has gone back to London and he says when he arrived the temperature was 16 degrees.
