Wednesday.

I got up at 6 o’clock,put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge for breakfast. I then put on a loaf of bread. When the washing was done I didn’t hang it out because it was rather dull. We had a coffee and then I sat and read while H did a bit of Spanish homework. When the bread was done we got ready and went out in the car for a coffee but mainly to give it a try out and make sure it was all ok which it seems to be. I bought myself a whole new load of bedding. 6 pillow cases, duvet cover, fitted bottom sheet and a flat top sheet. Now I won’t have to get it all off, washed, dried, ironed and back on all on the same day. When we got home we had lunch, H had a cheese sandwich with celery and I had a salad. We also had a coffee. I hung the washing out when we got back because there is a strong wind blowing. I sat and finished the book I was reading and it went rather black outside so I thought I had better get the washing back in. By the time I had put on my shoes and unlocked the door it was hailing like mad!! As I finished the whole back garden, lawn,path etc was white and I had to shake it all out of my hair. Next I made a salad for my tomorrow’s lunch at the dreaded work and prepared some sprouts and carrots to go with our fish pie for dinner tonight. Now I am about to go up for a shower.

Nightmare Tuesday!

Today started off ok, I got up just before 6 30, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. I dressed and hung out the washing and then we had a coffee. H went up to have a ride on Zwift island and I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away, made the bed and started a new book. When H had finished he showered and dressed and said we would go for a drive to check our car. I put my coat and boots on we got in and the battery was as dead as a dodo!! H said we would have to go to Halfords to get a battery charger. He didn’t want to bike because he had just done miles upstairs. So we walked to the bus stop. Our busses have changed their route, they used to go right passed Halfords but we had to get off and walk quite a way which was fine. But we decided there was no point buying a charger we might as well get a new battery and done with it. The one we have on the car is 8 years old. Well I bought this new battery and a strong bag to carry it home in and we walked back to the bus stop. We had a handle of the each and had to keep changing hands, it was so heavy. We must have carried it for over 2 miles altogether and we were both worn out. We had a coffee and a corned beef sandwich then H went out and fitted it into the car. We went for a drive right away and it seems to be ok. I got my washing and was fit for nothing else! I had to cook dinner but that was easy, an M&S meal deal which was yummy.

Monday.

I was up at 6.20 and just sat and read till the others began to move about then I made a pot of tea and we all had our breakfast. We had a coffee, and I washed up, made the bed and did the ironing. At 11am we got ready to go to Wells next the sea and have fish and chips for lunch. We piled into the car only to find that the battery was dead so the car wouldn’t start! Luckily our son had his jump leads with him so he got us started and the trip was long enough to charge it right up. Our son then treated us to fish and chips which were lovely and then we drove to Cley, H bought us a coffee and we walked to the sea and back. (Saw a dead baby seal) . It was raining when we started the walk but soon stopped, it was quite windy and not very warm but a brisk walk warmed us up nicely. When we got home we had a cup of tea, H and I had a glass of wine but our son didn’t because he is driving back to London this evening. For tea we had a cheese, mushroom and red pepper omelette. H didn’t have the peppers in his because he doesn’t like them. Son and I played 2games of cribbage and he won them both!!! When he leaves I will have my bath.

Sunday.

I got up at 7.20 after an awful night. I have a cold 🤧 which is nothing much to moan about but I have this terrible ‘ graveyard ‘cough and it kept me awake for most of the night. I did a load of washing and hung it out, had my breakfast and sat about feeling sorry for myself till it was time to get lunch. H had a bacon sandwich, son had a salad and I just had a cup a soup. I am not hungry but I am thirsty all the time. This morning no 1 son rang he is fine but his firm are making redundansies so I hope his job is safe. Our daughter also rang and I am excited because she is taking me to see the Queen next Sunday. We had a nice dinner when no2 son got back from climbing. Roast chicken, roast potatoes and sweet potatoes, sprouting broccoli, carrots,sprouts and gravy. A nice cup of tea and a yogurt. Vera is now coming on so I am off to watch it.!

Saturday.

We got up at 6.30, I put on a load of washing and we had our breakfast. As soon as we had done we got ready and went to Asda for our weekly groceries. When we came back I unpacked and put everything away while H made the coffee. He then went straight up to ride 61 and a bit miles!!! After our son had had his breakfast ( a concoction of porridge, banana, honey and peanut butter!!) he and I went out on our mountain bikes. We did about 18 miles and were pretty muddy by the time we got home again. It was very windy and quite cold, (3 degrees when we left home) . We were almost home when it began to rain. I rushed to get my washing in and it was dry. As soon as I had washed my hands I made us all some lunch. H had a bacon sandwich and son and I had salad. We all had a coffee and I had a bath, we all watched the Ann Frank film then I cooked dinner. We had steak, chips and peas, pineapple and yogurt for dessert. And of course a cup of tea. After dinner we watched the new Kong film in 3D.

Friday.

I got up at 6.30, made a pot of tea and waited for H to get up. When he did we had our breakfast. I then sat and read till he made our coffee and when I had drunk mine I dressed, got the bins in, made the bed and then vacuumed all downstairs and then dusted and cleaned the kitchen while H cleaned the bathroom. When we had done we thought we would do our weekly shop a day early so we didn’t have to get up early and go tomorrow. Well when we arrived at Asda the car park was packed!so H decided we would go back tomorrow! We went to M&S for a few bits,then to the insurance centre got our house and contents insurance and calling in at the chicken farm on the way home for eggs. For lunch we had cheese on toast and coffee. This afternoon I did all the ironing and at around 4 pm no.2 son arrived. He looks well and has a nice tan. I made a beef stew for dinner which was really tasty. It was yogurt for pud. I just had a bath and washed my hair so now I am going to watch my soaps upstairs while the men watch a movie downstairs.

Thursday.

Work today was not as bad as I expected. I had my breakfast ( toast and tea ), did a load of washing. Made the bed , dressed and went to work. I had to go with Andy and we had to pick 7dozen bunches of carrots, 5 boxes of loose ones and 4 bunches of purple ones. We then went down to wash and pack them. After coffee break I had to walk back and pick a sack of sprouts and then trim leeks. Andy came back with an order for 3 boxes of parsnips then we went back to leeks till lunch break. After break we washed and packed everything which took till 2 pm. The boss came up after that and told me I had to wash the inside glass of the greenhouse! It’s something I have to do every year but it’s not a job I look forward to, I can’t reach the top so I have to stand on a box and all the water runs down my arm so I go home soaked. Luckily it was milder today. When I got home I had a cup of tea, then a bath before cooking dinner. We had eggs, chips and beans, we should have had sausages with it but I forgot to get them out of the freezer!,, I have to work again next Thursday.
