Friday

I was up before 5 this morning because I just couldn’t sleep. I put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea. I then just sat and waited for H to get up. We had our breakfast, I hung out the washing and we went shopping. When we finished in Asda we went straight to the City because H wanted to get some gear and break cables so he could fix his bike. We went to pedal revolution, they open at 8.30 and we were there at 8.25 so we only had to wait a few minutes. When we got home we had a coffee and a cake and H got the bikes out so he could fix his while I read my magazine. Next I did a bit of housework and then got ready to go out on my bike 🚲. I went outside to tell H I couldn’t wait any longer because I needed to go to the butchers for some bacon. I was lucky because he had just finished and said he would come with me. We didn’t go very fast because he had to keep sorting his gears and straightening his bars etc. We did just over 18 miles. We had soup and a sandwich for lunch and this afternoon I did a bit of weeding in the garden. I had a bath and washed my hair and for dinner we had fish cakes, potatoes, peas and carrots. Strawberries and ice cream for pud which were delicious.

Thursday.

Today was a workday so I got up at 5.50 and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch and sorted my bag out. I dressed, made the bed etc and got ready to go to work. First I had to pick 55 bunches of radishes and then go weeding beetroot till 10. We had our break and after that I worked in the greenhouse. I had to de shoot all the tomato plants and twist them up their strings. As soon as all that was done I had to walk back to the top of the field and carry on with the weeding. When I got home H was working on his bike. He had found some carbon handlebars in the garage and decided to change his to the lighter ones. It took all afternoon and it’s still not done ! I think I may be biking on my own tomorrow!! I watered my tomato plants and began to clean up the brick weave in the front garden. I came in at 4 so I could watch tipping point and then we had a bath and I cooked dinner. We had new potatoes that were growing in the beetroot and I had to weed out! With them we had pork slices, peas, sweet corn and eggs.

Wednesday.

I got up at 6.50 and put on a load of washing. I had a roll for breakfast, half spread with marmite and the other half with jam. I washed it down with a cup of tea and hung out the washing. H got our bikes out of the garage and then he did a bit of studying before getting ready to go for his Spanish lesson. After he left I got ready to go out on my bike. I had done less than a mile when it began spitting with rain. I had a good mind to turn round and go home again but it wasn’t at all cold so I decided to carry on. I had to stop a couple of times and wipe my sun glasses but it wasn’t too bad. I did 20.8 miles and as I unlocked the back gate it began to pour. I dropped my bike and rushed to get my washing in. I was home at 11.45 and H got back at 11.50. We had a coffee and H had a banana sandwich, I had some salad and we both had a slice of cake. We were watching the tour of Italy when the phone rang and it was our son in law saying he had time to put the skirting board on in the conservatory if it was ok to come round. Well it was fine so H and I carried out the chairs etc so the space was clear for him to work in, he was here around 45 minutes later and the conservatory is finished. Before we put
everything back I swept and washed the floor. After tipping point we had a bath and I cooked dinner.
We had steak pies with a baked potato, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms and mixed peppers. We watched our local news and now I am going to watch my soaps.

Tuesday.

I got up at 6 and made porridge for breakfast. We had a coffee and then we both sat reading in the conservatory while the rain was pounding down on the roof. I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. We had another coffee and I did a bit of clearing up. For lunch we had a burger  a Slice of cake and a glass of wine. As 2 o’clock I thought I had better have a bit of exercise so H set the bike up in the pain cave for me putting in my age weight and height. I did an hour and rode 18.5 miles. I found it hard because my knees are playing up this week so I took it steady and now they actually feel a bit better. For dinner tonight we are had salad with the leftover meat from yesterday. We each had a sausage, half a burger, a chicken drumstick and a piece of sirloin steak. It was all yummy. Tomorrow H has his Spanish lesson so I might have another ride upstairs while he’s gone.

Monday, 27 May 2019

Bank holiday Monday.

I got up at 5.30, put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. We had a coffee and H went up to turbo and while he was doing that I made some rolls, hard boiled some eggs and hung out the washing. ThenI went to Tesco’s for some strawberries and some crisps. When I got home H was still peddling away upstairs.. when he finished he had done 124 miles!(200k)  I really don’t know how he does it. I prepared all my salad, buttered my rolls and took all the meat out of the freezer to thaw out for the bbq this evening. I got my washing in because it began to rain and luckily it was dry. We had a coffee and a few crispa got lunch. Our bbq went well. It’s the first time we have used it so we were a bit worried how it would go but everything was perfect H did a cracking job. The English strawberries were delicious, so juicy. My chocolate cake is nice but I wish I hadn’t eaten my slice because I am so full I feel close to bursting.

Sunday, 26 May 2019

Sunday.

I got up this morning at 6.30 and put on a load of washing. I had toast for breakfast as I couldn’t be bothered to make porridge. We had a coffee and H went up to do a short turbo ride just to keep his ‘legs loose’ because he plans to go for a long ride tomorrow with our son in law. I dressed so I could hang out the washing. I did a bit of watering and dead heading then I swept the path. I trimmed one of our bushes and it looks ok but I couldn’t reach the top so H will have to sort it. When he finished his ride we had a coffee and a biscuit and for lunch we had cheese sandwiches with radishes. This afternoon H went to Asda and no sooner had he gone when our daughter and son in law came round to arrange the time and place etc they are meeting tomorrow. They couldn’t stay as they were busy and only called in passing. H was gone for ages because Asda was packed but when he came home he brought ice cream. I read my book most of the afternoon ( I made a chocolate cake this morning) we had a cup of tea and then I had a shower before cooking dinner. We had sausages, bacon, eggs, potato wedges and baked beans, a funny sort of Sunday dinner but H didn’t want a roast.

Saturday, 25 May 2019

Saturday.

We got up at around ten past six and for once I didn’t have enough to make a load of washing. I had porridge for breakfast and H had toast and porridge. We had a coffee and both sat and read for a while. We both went into the back garden to do a bit of work. First we sorted out bricks 🧱 for our paving, then while H was putting them in I vacuumed upstairs and dusted downstairs. Next I planted my tomatoes. I put some in my hanging basket and H drilled some holes in the wall for the bracket and we hung it up. We moved a ton of soil and I cut round the bricks all along one side of the lawn. We had another cup of coffee and a toasted tea cake with butter. We also had oxtail soup. We sat in the garden for a while soaking up the sun ☀️. We went in at 4 for tipping point, then I had a bath and washed my hair before cooking dinner. We had Cornish pasties with mushrooms and potato wedges. I cooked rhubarb from the garden for pud and we had it with custard. I dug buckets full of weeds out of the lawn and now we are giving it a little water so the blackbirds can get their beaks in and feed their babies. I have had a nice day, it makes a nice change having a bit of a lazy day.

Friday, 24 May 2019

Friday

I got up at 5.50 because H got up. I put on a load of washing and we both had toast for breakfast. As soon as we were done I cleaned my teeth, dressed and we went shopping. From Asda we went to our butchers in Hevingham. I bought meat for a bbq a lasagna for our dinner tonight , some bacon so we could have bacon butties for lunch and a few things to stock up the freezer. When we got home we had a coffee and a toasted tea cake. I hung the washing out, read my magazine and then we got ready to go out on our bikes. We did just over 30 miles, it was lovely, warm and sunny, although there was a strong wind. It’s the first time this year that I have cycled in shorts. When we got home we had our lunch and H mowed the lawn while I vacuumed. I had almost finished downstairs when our daughter rang , she had spent most of her day in the walk-in centre, doctors and chemists. She has an ingrowing toenail. She says for such a small thing the pain is amazing. When I got off the phone H and I went to the garden centre where I bought some tomato plants for my hanging basket. When we got home it was time for tipping point. I made a pot of tea and we had a shower then dinner, lasagna with peas and sweet corn. I forgot to say that on our cycle ride H got a puncture. We both have tubes with gunge inside, ( self sealing) . Well it must have been a huge hole! I was riding behind H and all of a sudden there was a pop and I got sprayed with masses or white fluid squirting out of his rear tyre! It came out like a fountain! We stopped and were about to change the tube when H said I think it has sealed itself. His tyre was pretty flat so he had to put some air into it and we set off again. We then did another 29 miles without a problem, those tubes are magic!

Thursday, 23 May 2019

Thursday.

I got up at 5.15, put on a load of washing and the kettle, made a pot of tea and then some toast and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch, made the bed, hung the washing out and got ready to go to work. First we planted, we only had to plant the celeriac so it didn’t take long. As soon as we had finished Andy and I had to pick 10 boxes of rhubarb.when it was done we took it to the yard, stapled the tickets on to the boxes and loaded it on to the van to be delivered. When we had finished it was 10 o’clock. We had our break and then I walked to the top of the field and picked 45 bunches of radishes. I spent the rest of my time weeding the leek bed.. I don’t have to go again till next Thursday. When I got home I had a coffee and a slice of corned beef. I had a banana too. We watched a cycle race, I made a pot of tea and we watched tipping point, I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had meatballs in a tomato sauce with spaghetti.

Wednesday, 22 May 2019

Wednesday.

I got up at 5.50 and put on a load of washing. I had a slice of toast and marmite with a cup of tea. I packed my lunch( cheese, tomatoes and a bottle of water.) I dressed, made the bed, hung out the washing and got ready to go to work. When I got there the boss said I had to go weeding. So I was weeding till 10 when I had my break, then I carried on weeding till the boss came to see me at around 10.40 and said he wanted 75 bunches of radishes so I picked them and then it was back on the weeding for the rest of my time. It’s not a very nice job got it has to be done. The trouble is, the ground is so hard, the weeds won’t pull out so I have to use a knife 🔪 to dig them out and now I have a huge blister at the base of my fore finger. When I got home H had made a loaf of bread which has turned out well. He made me a coffee and I had a corned beef sandwich. I have done nothing all afternoon because I had worn out. We watched tipping point and I had a soak in the bath before cooking dinner. We had duck legs with new potatoes and spring cabbage. It was very nice. My washing is nice and dry again.

Tuesday, 21 May 2019

Tuesday.

I got up at 6.30 and put on a load of washing. H was up and had made a pot of tea so I had a cup which I sat and drank in the conservatory and read a bit of my book. I just had 2 cream crackers for breakfast because I didn’t fancy porridge. We had a coffee and I dressed so I could hang out the washing. I put our garden chairs out in the sun and we both sat outside with our second coffee. H did more work on the paving slabs and I worked in the garden. We had cheese and biscuits for lunch with an oxtail cup a soup. We both sat in the sun for a while and it was nice to have such a lazy day. At 3.10 we popped to our daughter and son in law’s to pick up a bbq they were giving to us. We had a cup of tea and waited for our Grandaughter to come home from school, she is in the middle of her
G C S Es and today was her first maths one. When we got home we had our baths and I cooked dinner. We had fish pie with peas and sweet corn. My washing is all lovely and dry again. The garden is beginning to look a bit tidier but I won’t be doing any tomorrow because I have to work.

Monday, 20 May 2019

Monday.

I got up at 6.30 and as I thought we were going for a long ride and leaving home early I would have toast. I made a pot of tea and put on a load of washing. We had had some rain over night and when H got up it was still doing it a bit. We watched a weather forecast and it said showers this morning and sunny tomorrow so we changed our plans and decided to go then instead. So after breakfast H went up to turbo and I walked to the doctors with my prescription. I walked the long way round so I could get some exercise, 2.3 miles. H rode over 20 miles in an hour. Then he looked at the calendar and realised that the doctor is ringing tomorrow to talk to him about his medication. This means we can’t go out so we decided we had better go today. I hung the washing out before we left and got it in when we got home , all nice and dry.By this time it was 11.30 so we had to cut our trip short. We cycled to Aylsham bank, then back to Reepham station where we had lunch. Beef pasties and a drink, they were nice. We biked home and it was 29 miles so H has done 50 miles today. We had a cup of tea nd a bun then at 6 I just had a slice of toast. If the doc rings early we may still go out for a ride but not our 50 miles we had planned, we will save that for next week now.

Sunday, 19 May 2019

Sunday.

I got up just before 6and put on a load of washing. H was already up and had made a pot of tea. I had porridge for breakfast and we also had a coffee.when the washing was done I went up and dressed so I could hang it out. I made the bed and sat and read some of my book. At 7.30 H went up to the pain cave for a ride, he was going to ride 100 k but after 50 k he said he had enough so he gave up. While he was upstairs I made some sultana buns which turned out well. When H came down I made us a coffee and we sat in the conservatory for a while. Next I got my bike out of the garage and cycled to the wet fish shop in Felthorpe to get a crab for my lunch. ( H didn’t want one so he had a cheese sandwich.) After lunch we sat in the garden but it wasn’t really warm enough so H went in again but I worked in the garden for a while. The patio is finally clean but my ornamental pots are still on it because I can’t think where I want to put them yet. I have got rid of 2 one I have emptied and moved and the other was a half barrel. I emptied it, picked it up and the bottom dropped out. So that one is in the bin. When I had finished I got the washing in and made a pot of tea. I had a shower, and then cooked dinner. We had a chicken pie with cauliflower, carrots, potatoes and gravy, it was nice.

Saturday, 18 May 2019

Saturday

I got up at around 5.40 and put on a load of washing. Then I sat and read my book till I heard H moving about what I made a pot of tea and a bowl of porridge. We had our breakfast and then a small coffee. I swept the kitchen, conservatory and toilet floors and dusted the lounge. At 9.50 we were leaving home to meet our daughter and son in law on Marriotts Way so we could go for a ride to Reepham station for a coffee. So because it was rather dull I didn’t hang the washing out in case it rained before we got back home. I got our bikes out and H wiped our chains then sprayed a little oil on and off we went. We had a great ride, I offered to buy the coffees because I wanted to see if I could pay with my watch because last time it wouldn’t work. Well it worked first time so I was pleased. When we got home it was still dry so I hung the washing out, we had a coffee and a toasted tea cake or lunch and then we both went into the back garden where H is working on the path and I am cleaning up the patio. We worked out there till it began to rain and we came in, had a glass of wine 🍷 and watched the rest of the tour. When it’s over I will have a shower and cook dinner. Today it’s our favourite, liver and onions with potatoes carrots and cauliflower. And after that I will watch Britain’s got talent.

Friday, 17 May 2019

Friday.

I got up at 5.30 because I had woken up and just couldn’t get back to sleep again. H got up at the same time and after we had had our breakfast he told me he was feeling a bit dizzy so I said I would go shopping on my own. When I first got up I stripped the bed and put it all in the washing machine. So I waited till it was done and hung it out then put my coat on to go shopping.when I went to say goodbye to H he sat in the lounge with his hat and coat on waiting to go! I refused to go with him unless I drove so he decided to stay at home. When I got home he had had an hours good sleep and felt much better. We had a coffee, unpacked and put everything away. I sat and read my magazine and then I went outside to carry on with the clearing up I started yesterday. H came out and helped. He laid another slab on our path while I moved all the bricks off the patio. I planted 27 bedding Begonias  and 10 pansies . We were still working at 12.50 when it began to drizzle so I got the washing in and we went in too. We had scrambled eggs on toast for lunch with a coffee and a cup a soup, oxtail flavour. I didn’t go out anymore after that we sat and watched a cycle race instead. I had a bath and washed my hair, then I cooked dinner. We had pizza with a side salad. For dessert we had fresh English strawberries with vanilla ice cream, delicious. I remade the bed and stacked the dishwasher ready to put on when I go to bed so it is done on cheap electric. Our daughter rang and we have made arrangements to meet on the track tomorrow unless it’s raining so we can cycle to Reepham station for a coffee and a natter.

Thursday, 16 May 2019

Thursday

I got up at 5.50, put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea. I packed a banana and a slice of cheese for my lunch and waited for H to get up so he could slice the bread off for my toast. ( if I cut it off I spoil the shape of the loaf!) I had my breakfast, cleaned my teeth, dressed, made the bed, filled my water bottle and hung the washing out before going to work. When I got there the boss said I could take my bag with me and sit in the field for my coffee break because it’s warm enough now! I had to pick 75 bunches of radishes and then spend the rest of the day weeding. So at the moment I have a bit of a neck ache. When I got home H was sitting on the step in the sun waiting for me. He asked if I thought he should cut the front grass, yes. So he did that and then came in and made me a coffee. With my wages I paid H for all the bits he had to buy for my bike to get it working again.  After my coffee I went into the back garden and did a bit more clearing up. I had to take loads of bricks up when we were having the conservatory built and they are all piled up on the patio so this afternoon I began to put some back. I made a space for the bird bath and then filled it. Before I even got indoors there was a blackbird having a drink and then a bath. We watched the tour of Italy and then tipping point . I am about to have a bath and then dinner before I go up to watch my soaps. Dinner tonight is chicken curry. I don’t have to work any more till next Wednesday.

Wednesday, 15 May 2019

Wednesday

I got up at 6.20, put on a load of washing and made a pot of tea. I waited for H to get up and we had our breakfast together. H made me a coffee and I sat in the conservatory with it and finished my book. I hung out the washing and then vacuumed all downstairs. I made the bed and at 9.10 we got ready to go out on our bikes but not together. We left home together but when we got to the track H went right and I went left. He was off to his Spanish lesson and I was just going for a bike ride. It’s the longest ride I have done on my own since I was about 18 years old! I did 32.5 miles.  When I arrived back H was just home and making coffee. I had a bowl of cornflakes for lunch and then sat in the garden for an hour. Then I put my chair away and did a bit of work in the garden. I worked for over an hour but you can’t really see what I have done. H made a pot of tea and then I had a shower and cooked dinner. We had mackerel, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes on the vine and jacket potatoes. Now I am going up for my soaps. It’s work for me again tomorrow.

Tuesday, 14 May 2019

Tuesday

H woke me up at 6. I put on a load of washing and had a slice of toast for breakfast. I packed a banana and a slice of cheese with my bottle of water, packed my bag, dressed, made the bed and got ready to go to work. The washing wasn’t quite finished so I had to leave it for H to hang out. When I got to work we went to plant straight away. First we planted red cabbages, then sprouts and cabbages. After that we planted all the early leeks. This took us to almost 10 o’clock so we loaded the trailer with another load of plants and had our break. We then went to another part of the field and planted cauliflowers, kale. Broccoli and more cabbages. I took us till 12.33 to plant them all and then I de shooted tomatoes till home time. When I got home I had a coffee, an apple and a corned beef sandwich. We had a glass of wine and I sat in the sun for a little while. I got the washing in, all nice and dry. I did a bit of weeding and then I made a pot of tea and watched tipping point. I had a bath and cooked dinner. We had potato wedges, sausages, pork slices, mushrooms grilled tomatoes and a fried egg. Next I will watch my soaps, they are all rubbish at the moment. I have to work again on Thursday which is a bit of a surprise but the boss said there is a fair bit of weeding to do.

Monday, 13 May 2019

Monday

I got up at 6.30, put on a load of washing and had 2 cream crackers with butter and marmite and a cup of tea for my breakfast. I hung the washing out and then got the bikes out of the garage and H made us a coffee. We then sat and waited for our conservatory furniture to arrive. It came just before 10 and after we had unpacked it and added the cushions etc we got ready and went out on our bikes. We had a great ride in the sunshine and did a long trip round to Reepham station where we had a drink and a fruit scone with butter. We then came home off road and ended up doing just over 34 miles. Because we left home quite late ,when we got home it was 2.45 so we sat in the garden with a glass of wine. I put the bikes back into the garage and  we had a cup of tea and a biscuit. We came back in to watch tipping point and then had our baths. When I came down I cooked dinner. We had fish pie with baked beans. Tomorrow I have to go to work! I haven’t been for ages.

Sunday, 12 May 2019

Baby shower day.

This morning I woke up at 7 and after I had put on my usual load of washing I had a slice of toast and tea for breakfast. I sat and read my book till the washing was done and then I hung it out. I dressed and made the bed and H went up to ride 65 miles. While he was upstairs I cleaned the kitchen and worktops etc. When he finished we had a coffee and I took my nail varnish off and reapplied it. Next I changed and did my hair and no 1 son came round bringing me some tomato plants that our daughter in law had grown from seed. I have got 4 different varieties and also 2 for our daughter. When he left I put my shoes on and H took me to our Grandaughter and her husbands. He dropped me off there because they were having a baby shower. It was my first ever baby shower 👶🏻. I didn’t know what to take so I decided nappies are always handy so I bought size 1 and size 2, nappies sacks and wipes. There were games, guess the size of mum to be by cutting off a length of string that you thought would fit round her tummy. Well most of us insulted her by making our string far too long! Then there was guess the weight of the baby and guess the birthday but we will have to wait to find out who is the winner is of those 2 games. As well as the games there was loads of food the table looked as if it might bow down if any more was added. Anyway it was all really nice and it was lovely to see lots of people that I last saw at the wedding. When I got home H was relaxing in the garden in the sun. I made him a cup of tea and took it out with a slice of cake and a pretty pink iced bun I had brought him back from the party. I had a shower and cooked dinner. We had quiche with potato wedges and peas. So I have had a nice day and also it was lovely to see the blue sky and the sun today.

Saturday, 11 May 2019

Saturday

I got up at 6.15 and had toast and marmite for breakfast with a mug of tea. I put on a load of washing H put our bins out and made a cup of coffee. I made the bed and dressed etc and then did a bit of housework because it was pretty dull and I thought we wouldn’t be going out on our bikes. At around 9.20 H said he thought we ought to go out so we could try our gears etc to make sure everything is working so I went up and changed. We took our waterproof jackets and H said if it rains we will come straight back home. It was a lovely steady ride just tweaking our gears now and again till they were right. We cycled to Aylsham railway station and ordered coffees, I had a hot sausage roll and H had a bacon sandwich.( yesterday I set my watch and phone up for ‘Apple pay’ and the reason we went there was for me to try it out by paying with my watch). Well it wouldn’t work for some reason or other so H paid on his. 😄. I will have to try that again! Anyway we then rode home again and it was just over 24 miles, it took s a couple of hours because we weren’t in any hurry. We also managed to stay dry. When we got home we had a coffee and a toasted tea cake. I hung the washing out and then the sun came out and it’s all dry. We watched tipping point and I had a shower and washed my hair, then I cooked dinner, we had a chicken, bacon and leek pie with new potatoes, carrots and cauliflower. Tomorrow I won’t be riding my bike because I am going to our Grandaughter’s baby shower.

Friday, 10 May 2019

Friday

I got up at 6 o’clock after the worst sleep ever. I had toast and tea for breakfast and as soon as I had done I dressed etc and we went to Asda. After we had finished there we went to the M&S food store for a few extra things. When we got home H made the coffee while unpacked and put everything away. We had a toasted tea cake with our coffee and then I read my magazine. While I was reading it H had a phone call from Halfords to say my bike bit was in so we got straight into the car and picked it up. When we got home H went straight into the garage and fixed my bike. Unfortunately by the time it was finished it was pouring with rain so I couldn’t try it out. We had a coffee and cheese straws for lunch. The sun came out this afternoon but we still couldn’t go out because I was waiting for a phone call from the Doctors. They told me they are cancelling my paracetamol prescription because I am not using enough of them. I am not very happy about this, I could have been getting my full dose and giving them to friends and family but because I only ordered them when I needed them and was saving the national health service money I , an old age pensioner of 80 now have to buy my own! We watched tipping point and had a bath. For dinner tonight we had M&S pizza with patas bravas and for pudding English strawberries with ice cream. I am now going to watch my soaps but I will be surprised if I stay awake.

Thursday, 9 May 2019

Thursday

I got up at 6.30 when I heard H moving around downstairs but it turned out he had been up for over an hour. I put on a load of washing and made my porridge. After breakfast we had a coffee and I started a new book. When the postman came he brought the hanger that H was waiting for so he could fix the gears on my bike. So while he was doing that I went up and rode on the turbo. I did 20.4 miles in an hour and a minute which made my average 19.9 mph. When I finished I went to our garage to see how H was getting on. Unfortunately, not very well! The hanger was perfect but he then found another problem. We had a coffee and a date scone for lunch and H went up for a ride. While he was upstairs I worked in the garden. When he finished he came outside and told me we were going  to Halfords for the bits we needed to fix my bike 🚲 they didn’t have what we wanted but they were able to order it for us. It should be here by Monday which is good but it means I have no bike for the whole weekend.🙁 When we got home we had a glass of wine, watched tipping point and had our baths. When I came down I made a pot of tea and cooked dinner. We had fish cakes with jacket potatoes, peas and sweet corn.

Wednesday I

I got up at 6 and it was still dry outside but a few minutes later it began to rain. I had my usual porridge and mug of tea for breakfast. I did a bit of clearing up and emptied the dishwasher and put everything away. I made the bed and it was still raining so I sat and read my book. At 9.30 H got ready to go to his Spanish lesson but deforestation he left he set up the turbo trainer so I could have a ride while he was out. He went in the car because it was still raining. When he left I went up for my ride. I did 20.5 miles in an hour and five minutes. So my average was 18.8 mph. When I finished I had a shower and carried on reading my book. When H got back he made the coffee while I prepared cheese and biscuits for lunch. I took 2 chicken breasts out of the freezer for our dinner tonight which is going to be chicken curry. Later on we had a cup of tea an a date scone. I think we have had a fair amount of rain throughout the day, it did stop for a while but it’s starting again. I think I might get a message from my boss telling me not to go tomorrow because it’s too wet to plant 🌱and he doesn’t need me.

Tuesday.

I got up at 6.35, put on a load of washing and made my porridge. We had our breakfast and when the washing was done I hung it out. We had a coffee and I read 2 chapters of my book before vacuuming.  At 10 we got ready to go to the garden centre. We went to the little tea shop first and had a cappuccino and a toasted tea cake. Then we wandered round the garden furniture and I bought 2 chairs and a small table to go into our conservatory. I also bought 2 cushions for the chairs, 3 grow bags and also a bag of potting compost. The chairs are going to be delivered next Monday. As soon as we got back H went up to turbo. When he finished  we had a coffee and a date scone and at 2 I went up for a ride. I did 20 miles. When I came down we had a G&T to celebrate our new furniture ( even though we don’t have it yet). I had a bath and then cooked dinner. We had pork chops, mushrooms, potato wedges and an egg. I went up to watch my soaps but I have missed so much of them lately I haven’t a clue what’s going on.

May Day.

I got up at 6.35 and put on a load of washing. I had porridge and a cup of tea for breakfast, hung out the washing and we had a coffee. I made the bed and read a chapter of my book for a little while and then we decided to go out on our bikes, even though it was rather dull because we wanted to try my gears out. So we got ready and rode along Marriotts Way. Everything was going well till we got all the way back to within a mile from home when everything jammed up and my chain was well and truly stuck. H can’t find out what the trouble is! We did 22 miles. When we got home we changed right away and went to the garden centre. Well that was a mistake! The car park was jam packed and there was a queue waiting to park so we turned round and came back home. We were going to have a coffee and toasted tea cake at the cafe but we had a cheese and salad sandwich with a coffee here instead. H says we will go again tomorrow. As I was dishing up dinner my boss rang and asked if I can go to work Thursday instead of Wednesday, of course I said yes because it doesn’t make any difference to me. We had steak pie for dinner with new potatoes, cauliflower and peas. As it going to be wet tomorrow we are both going to ride the bike in the pain cave.

Sunday

I got up at 6.10 and had a slice of toast with marmite and a cup of tea. We had a coffee and then I dressed and made a loaf of bread. I did all my ironing and vacuumed upstairs. H went up to turbo and I emptied the dishwasher and put everything away then I washed up our breakfast things and the things we couldn’t fit into the dishwasher last night. I wrote my diary and sat and read my book till our son in law came round to fit the floor in the conservatory. Our daughter came with him and brought the two frenchies with her so that she and I could go for a walk with them. We walked 3 and a bit miles, it was nice. We didn’t get rained on and at one point the sun came out and was really hot. When we got back the floor was done and looks very nice. The only thing left to do is the skirting board. We had a cup of tea and they left. They hadn’t been gone long when it poured with rain again! Our packages arrived from wiggle with our bike bits in and H spent all afternoon fixing my bike. We had our lunch before he started, cheese sandwiches with celery and tomatoes. This afternoon I watched the men’s cycle race, had a shower and for dinner we had fish pie with baked beans. I hope it’s dry tomorrow so I can try my bike out but the forecast isn’t too good.

Saturday

I got up at 6.30 and one look at the sky told me it was no good hanging out yesterday’s washing so I put it all into the tumble dryer to dry. I made porridge for breakfast and also had a cup of tea. We had a coffee and then I washed up all the big things, dressed, made the bed and took the vacuumed cleaner downstairs. We had another coffee and then I vacuumed downstairs, swept the kitchen floor and wiped all the cupboard doors. For lunch we had cheese on toast. We watched the women’s tour of Yorkshire this morning and the men’s this afternoon. I did 20 miles on the turbo trainer just so I had my exercise and I brought the bins in and put them away. Today we have had rain, hail and snow all companied with gale force winds. So even if I had a bike I wouldn’t have gone out. H has ordered some bits and pieces from Wiggle and when they arrive he hopes to fix my bike. We just hope the things fit, we couldn’t get an exact match! I had a bath and then cooked dinner. We had ox liver with onions, garlic, potatoes, cauliflower, sweet corn and gravy in a casserole. One of our favourite meals. Tomorrow we are having the floor fitted in our conservatory.

Friday

H woke me up at 6.20, he had already sliced me off some bread for toast and made a pot of tea. I put on a load of washing and had my breakfast. As soon as we had done I cleaned my teeth, dressed and we went shopping. When we got back I unpacked and put everything away while H made the coffee. I sat and drank mine while I read my magazine. Next I made the bed and vacuumed. I couldn’t hang the washing out because it’s raining. At 11am I got ready to meet my sister in law for lunch, we had a nice lunch and a good chat. When I went H was watching the tour of Yorkshire, women’s race and when I came home he was watching the tour of Yorkshire, men’s race. I poured him a.glass of wine and put the chicken in the oven. I had a shower and then cooked dinner, carrots, cauliflower and potatoes to go with our chicken. Tomorrow I will have a turbo as I don’t have a bike at the moment but as it happens with this wet weather we wouldn’t be going out anyway. Thank goodness for the pain cave.

Thursday

I got up at 6.30 and didn’t have a load of washing for once. I was supposed to have porridge for breakfast but I just couldn’t face it. So I had a slice of toast with butter and marmite. I had a huge pint mug of tea and a little later a coffee. Then too late I realised that it was Thursday and I hadn’t weighed myself. I then did it anyway and I had gained 1.8 pounds! I am hoping that was my breakfast! I made the bed, put the rubbish out and sat and read my book. It was really dull to start with and my phone said it was going to rain. H planned to turbo this morning and I told him I would do an hour this afternoon. But all of a sudden the sun came out and it looked nice so we quickly changed and got our bikes out of the garage and and went for a ride. It was lovely, not much wind and all the birds were singing. We weren’t in any hurry and stopped to take photos of bluebells and look at the river and swans and geese. On the way back we got just 6 miles from home when for no apparent reason my gears broke and fell off. It went straight into my back wheel and how I managed not to go over the handlebars or fall off I will never know. H is so clever, he couldn’t fix it because the hanger had snapped but he took a length of my chain out and I was able to ride home on a single speed bike. When we got home we had a coffee and the rest of the date and walnut cake which was delicious. We watched the tour of Yorkshire, first stage of the cycle race and it was pouring with rain for most of the race. It made us feel even more lucky to have had such a nice ride. I had a bath and washed my hair, we had a small glass of wine and then cooked dinner. We had cod and parsley fish cakes with jacket potatoes, mushy peas, grilled Tomatoes and mushrooms. Yogurt for pudding and a cup of tea.

1st of May

I got up at 5.45 and put on a load of washing. As I was going to work I had toast for breakfast with a cup of tea. I dressed, made the bed, packed a couple of sticks of celery and a slice of cheese, a bottle of water and hung out the washing. Then I drove to work. I had to go with Andy to the rhubarb patch and we had to pick 13 x 5kg boxes. From there we went to leeks and trimmed them till coffee break. After that I walked back up the field to pick radishes. I had done 30 bunches when Andy joined me. We had to do another 35 bunches and then go back to the leeks and trim them for the rest of the morning. When I got home H made me a coffee and we had a slice of cake with it. We watched a cycle race and when it was over I got the washing in. We watched tipping point and I had a soak in the bath. After that I cooked dinner and we had sausages, pork and apple burgers, eggs, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms and potato wedges. It was rhubarb and yogurt for pudding. I haven’t got to go to work again till next Wednesday.
